Absolutely YAS! Reminds me of the halal lamb over rice in New York this is just the chicken version. The chicken is super juicy and grilled to perfection. Portions are super generous and the place is very clean. I enjoyed this so very much and highly recommend it.

If you’ve walked along sunset cliffs in the heat and worked up an appetite… this is the place to go! The excitement to dig in overpowered the temptation to take a picture of the food; that’s how yummy. Grilled chicken over rice with chickpeas, onions, greens and much more! Instagram didn’t eat first today! If you’re in the mood for a light lunch then definitely share a bowl! Affordable and healthy. Didn’t feel overly full or sluggish but I may have taken a two hour nap after a little bit more sun… kept me full for about 6 hours. Nice music and wonderful customer service. Can’t wait to go back!

Yesterday I went over to Chicken Over Rice Co. to try their famous chicken bowl. Since they’ve been a huge hit on the local San Diego farmers market scene since 2016, I was very excited to experience their first storefront that opened right here in OB earlier this year. They blend traditional Mediterranean flavors with the essence of health and freshness. In their bowls you have the option of rice, salad or pita as the base. I chose rice and then added everything on it (chicken, chickpeas, lettuce, onion, parsley, cucumber salsa, hot sauce, pepperoncini, and tzatziki sauce). It was absolute 🔥🔥🔥!!! 🙏👍 Sooooooo good!! It had the perfect balanced blend of flavorful proteins, vegetables, and grains. Now I can’t wait to try their salad and pita options. I’ll definitely be heading back really soon. *You can also custom order a vegetarian version. Update 2: Yesterday during the rain I went back over to Chicken Over Rice Co. to try another version of their bowls. With their bowls you have the option of rice, salad or pita as the base. Last time I had the rice bowl and it was delicious! This time I tried the salad bowl and then added everything on it (chicken, chickpeas, lettuce, onion, parsley, cucumber salsa, hot sauce, pepperoncini, and tzatziki sauce). This was one of the best, healthiest meals I've ever had! The staff was super friendly and the food was very fresh. You could tell that the ingredients, although combined, had been individually cared for. Will be coming back!

Absolutely stellar! This might be my new favorite finds in San Diego! The menu is super straightforward where you choose your base of rice, salad, or pita and served with chicken, chickpeas, lettuce, onion and parsley, cucumber salad, pickled onions, Peperoncino, garlic sauce, hot sauce, and taziki sauce. The chicken was generously portioned, perfectly chargrilled, great flavor, and most importantly, it was juicy! I would come back just for the chicken alone! As for the veggies, I could taste how freshly made all the ingredients were in house. The sauces were also nicely balanced where it wasn't too saucy but still packed a lot of flavor. I would absolutely recommend this place as it's no frills, quality and fresh ingredients, and very friendly staff. My new favorite lunch spot in OB!

Delicious, I found this spot from a coworker and have found that this a go to when it comes to lunch meals. Delicious, fresh, and healthy. I usually get the chicken and salad option. Service is always fast and friendly. Definitely recommend this spot.

Delicious and filling meal. Got the standard rice / chicken bowl. $15 + tax. I think they might have forgotten about the pepperoncinis since I asked for no onion, not sure. Either way it was still delicious, I was starving and I couldn't finish the whole bowl, saved the rest for later. They are a little heavy handed with the sauces which was fine because it made the bowl so creamy. There were a few pieces of my chicken that had cartilage but I just spit them out. Would love to come back and try the bowl again with pepperoncinis and pita bread. I'm not sure if I have to ask for a side of it, I didn't see it on the menu. About 8ish bar stools and a couple tables inside. Small spot but worth the visit.

I was thrilled when I discovered this place offers a Mediterranean twist to chicken over rice. When I tell you each & every ingredient in their bowl had so much flavor! The chickpeas were delicious and flavorful and their chicken was seasoned just right. Plus who doesn't love pepperoncinis?! The spicy & garlic sauce were a great finish. Highly recommend this spot if you visit OB

First tried the rice bowl at the OB Farmers market. The first bite was amazing. I didn't expect so many flavors from one bite. Decided to try another bowl from the store location and it was just as good. I eat chicken and rice almost everyday and this bowl is next level.

Saw this place on Hot and New on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. We were immediately greeted by the staff and he was really sweet! We saw him preparing the order before us and JAW DROPPED by the amount of chicken he was scooping. It's basically one thing on the menu but you can choose to have either pita, salad, or rice. I recommend the rice with EVERYTHING on it. He gives HEAPING scoops of chicken. It's $16ish with tax but SO WORTH IT. Leftovers for days. It's so good and fresh and I can't wait to come back. The place is cute and clean. Some tables inside and outside.

A Filipino restaurant used to occupy this suite on Sunset Cliffs Blvd in OB which is now the home of Chicken Over Rice. The set of businesses at this address has a shared dedicated parking lot behind the structure with over a dozen spaces available. The inside of the suite had only a few tables and a countertop with stools near the front window for seating. The menu was as simple as I had seen for a brick-and-mortar eatery. It was a Mediterranean-style bowl with a base of rice, pita, or salad for $15. The included toppings were chicken, chickpeas, lettuce, onion, parsley, cucumber salsa, and pepperoncini. You could order some of the ingredients as a la carte sides. Soda and water were the available drinks. My bowl had rice as the base while I asked for the three sauces (garlic, hot, tzatziki) in small cups instead of being mixed in. The order was quickly prepared and placed in a takeout paper bag. I ended up using just the garlic and tzatziki sauces to enhance the flavor of the bowl. The cucumber salsa had a unique taste while the rest was fairly standard. I don't know if you could order a veggie version for a lesser price, but then why come here when their focus is on chicken as the main ingredient?

Amazing! Saw a review on the morning KUSI news.. We had to try. Small quant little spot in Ocean Beach. The menu, is Simple and it's really all you need.. You choose three ways; from rice, pita or salad. Chicken. And several different toppings. I chose all of the above and I encourage you to. The rice was perfectly fluffy. Chicken , well seasoned and the toppings/ sauce. (Garlic sauce , hot sauce and TZAKTZIKI Muah! So fresh! The portions were large and filling. This cozy little spot is new in town. Stop by and check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Great option for a fast and healthy option. The bowl was filled with so much chicken and so much veggies. The sauces were so good too. As someone who is very sensitive to gluten I can confidently say this place is gluten free safe.

I got a bowl at the farmers market on Wednesday and it was pretty good. The serving size was pretty generous thankfully since it was over $16. I wasn't a fan of the mint taste which I think was from the cucumber salad. The girl taking money was not happy to be there. They charge extra to use a card but don't mention the fee. I was charged $16.24 and then someone added a tip onto my card and over $19 came out of my account. I stopped in to the restaurant before heading out of town and luckily the guy working gave me the $3 I didn't authorize being charged for. Because of that shadiness I would never buy anything here again.

Small restaurant with inside seating and very clean. It's like a Mediterranean chipotle, if you will. The menu is limited but the chicken is fresh and my experience was not dry like others have stated in previous reviews. $16 for a rice bowl which is a bit pricey but you can really taste the quality in the food. The bowls are a really good size and Ebo (sp?) was super nice in helping us out for our first time. I do agree with him that we will be back. They just opened in January and it is worth a try. Their chickpeas are particularly delicious.

First stumbled onto Chicken Over Rice while at the OB farmers market. Long lines for food there usually means the food is delicious and I was right! COR is a a great local take on quick Mediterranean. Simple menu with your choice of pita, rice, salad or a mix. Big portions, awesomely seasoned chicken, fresh toppings, and great for a quick lunch/dinner when in the area. They even cater events if needed. Definitely stop in to try it out!

Amazing spot! Fresh ingredients, amazing flavor & great portions. Beyond the obvious star of the show, their chicken, the cucumber salad and onions were so delicious & a great topping. Love that they add banana peppers. Inside is super clear & there is high top seating as well as a few small tables. Also if you're dairy free, just ask for no tzatziki. Come & support this new spot in OB!

Highly recommend this place! The bowls are great every time and the staff is very nice. Very filling and a great price point when food has steadily increased in prices in grocery stores and restaurants. They have some seating to dine in and food is easy peasy for take-out as well. If you're in OB or Point Loma and want a healthy and filling meal, this is the place!

The best Mediterranean bowl I've had in a while. One thing on the menu and they do it right!!! I got my bowl over rice. They don't skimp on anything, especially the chicken!! Filling and had leftovers. Perfect spot to take over to sunset cliffs and watch the sunset (even on a cloudy day).

I kept driving by it and would think to myself, "Pretty simple idea but maybe too simple." Decided to give it a try today and I was not disappointed. Like a Chipotle Chicken bowl but better. The chicken is way better than Chipotles. I got rice base and then everything (minus hot sauce) with it. This is a solid protein bowl if that's what's you're looking for. I'll definitely come back.

This place is SO good! Great addition to the OB restaurant scene! Staff is super friendly and accommodating. A great place to grab dinner to go for a family. We get a la carte items to make bowls for our three boys, but the fully loaded rice bowls are absolutely delicious!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in all of San Diego. As a bodybuilder, we are very health conscious on what we eat but you can easily eat here and still fit it within your diet and macros without it being a cheat meal. Chicken, rice and lots of vegetables. AND to top it off, the portions especially on the chicken is amazing. I would compare it to getting double meat if you were to go to Chipotle but honestly screw Chipotle just come here. The chicken is cooked well and very flavorful plus the sauces they have are so good. Service is awesome too and the workers are so chill, they fit the location of OB haha. Everyone in OB is so down to earth and cool which is why I love to hang out down there.

I don't even eat chicken and I loved it. Asked for the best vegetarian bowl with rice and was blown away by the taste and amount. Don't let the name fool you, they have great vegetarian options

This is a delicious little restaurant in the OB area. The ingredients are always fresh and the chicken is always tender and cooked to perfection. I usually get the sauces on the side but love the BBQ sauce as well as the garlic. If your trying to eat something healthy for lunch or dinner don't pass this spot up.

Ate twice at this place and both times it gave me diarrhea badly I don't know if it's the mint or what's wrong with this place but the chicken is not well cooked or overcooked or have spices it did not agree with me and won't be back plus it's overpriced it's almost $20 for a chicken with rice for extra chicken $4

I'm always trying new local spots for lunch I was trying to go next door to Hugo's for a burrito but I stood there for 5 minutes and no one acknowledged me so I went next door to chicken over rice. I was pleasantly surprised imagine a fresher chipotle bowl with bigger peices of chicken. for lunch it was a perfect healthy meal if your looking for something to grub give it a shot.

We had the rice bowls with everything. Very fresh and delicious! Loved that it's all gluten free for me (other than pita). We will be back.

Service: Good take out service. Nice guy behind counter prepping food. Very friendly and patient. Food: Just okay. Ordered 2 rice bowls. 2/3 rice, about a cup of chicken, some chickpeas, some cucumber salsa and onions. I asked for sauce on the side. The bowls were just as I ordered however nothing in the bowls was very flavorful. I was expecting some nice mediterranean spices but was disappointed. This place is a lot like the Chipotle concept....build your own bowl however in my opinion it is overpriced. $15 for mostly rice. I probably won't be back in the near future.
