I want to take a moment to recognize Chicken Salad Chick in The Woodlands at the Kingdom Chick location for something that matters just as much as good food: compassion and integrity.
We did receive an incorrect order, and while that is frustrating anywhere, the timing made it especially hard as our family had just said goodbye to one of our dogs. What truly stood out was not the mistake itself, but how it was handled afterward.
The local owner, Chris, personally reached out with genuine empathy, kindness, and accountability. There was no defensiveness and no excuses, just sincere care for what we were going through and a clear desire to use the situation as a learning opportunity for his staff. He made it very clear that the goal was not to place blame, but to help a good team do even better. That kind of leadership says a lot.
Mistakes happen. What defines a business is how they respond, and this response was thoughtful, respectful, and handled with real grace. It turned a disappointing moment into a reminder of why we continue to support local businesses like this one.
And yes, the tortilla soup really is that good. Tuesdays and Saturdays, for anyone wondering.
