Chick'nCone

Was on my way to work in Gaslamp this fine Saturday evening and came across this super cute spot. Everything is perfectly themed orange and white and it’s damn near spotless with all new furniture. . After chatting it up with Carla, the most engaging cashier, the owner Vanessa came over & introduced herself. We chatted, exchanged pleasantries & took photos. Couldn’t decide which sauce I wanted but definitely wanted a sweet & savory taste so they gave me a sample of the yella bbq. It was exact flavor I was craving. . I ordered the chicken sandwich combo meal with the aforementioned sauce, Cajun fries & a Starry Lemon Lime soda. Everything was made to order, warm & phresh. . Like big girls are supposed to, I ate all of my food. Am open to trying their chicken waffle cone so I’ll def have a return visit! . #supportlocal & get you some food that’s So Clucking Good.

Met Vanessa, the owner, working the counter. From the jump it was a great experience. She was so friendly and helpful. And then my sandwich came out...my good lord...Popeye's has *nothing* on this sandwich. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was crunchy and delicious with a soft bun to go with. If you like spice, may I suggest the Peri Peri sauce...spicy, but not overly so, and the flavor was divine. Unlike anything I have ever tasted. I would give this place 6 stars if they let me. GO TO CHICK'N'CONE NOW!!!

Ordered the chicken sandwich after a padre game. Overall sandwich was good. Crispy chicken, brioche bun, pickles and I added in the kickn ranch sauce. Can’t fully control portion size of the tenders you got, so the size was semi smaller than expected but over a good sandwich. Worth a shot.

Where do I start? Stopped in during my husband and my first time to California and wow. Met the owner and she is incredible! Such a saint! She went above and beyond to give us an incredible meal. Had the biggest smile on her face the whole time making us feel so welcomed. First, the food was incredible. We got a chick n cone with the maple sauce and the chick n bowl. The Mac and cheese in the bowl was delicious and it came with a drink! The waffle cone was also delicious and the chicken was incredible as well, so crispy and juicy in my bowl! Second, she gave us little sample cups of every sauce with its own piece of chicken for free! It was so fun to try all the sauces and was so kind of her! Third, there was a homeless man named Shay outside nearby and asked if we had food when we were walking in which we responded no. When we ordered we asked to get an order of fries to-go with our meal even though we were dining in to take it out to him. Once we told her that, she took the fries off the order and brought them out to him for free! So kind! Lastly, she gave us great traveling tips to get to nearby locations easier and cheaper. This was literally the best dining experience we have had in the longest time! Amazing customer service, amazing food, a loving heart towards those in need! I wish we had one in our home town!! Try it out, I don’t think you’ll regret it! Food: 10/10 Service: 10000/10

Super clever twist on chicken & waffle duo! Vanessa & Carla provided the best service and you can tell the owner really cares about her small business/ establishment. I loved the Kick’nRanch but also suggest the Yella BBQ! I’ll be back for the breakfast menu which features a wide array of options to try.

This place is amazing! The owner was so much fun to order from, she was a true delight. Made our night! They are very accommodating and efficient. Inside was clean and stylish with a fun atmosphere. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!!

A must eat! Comforting, fun food with heart by Petco Park. The kind owner (Vanessa) and friendly staff (Carla and Quentin) were wonderful and made our experience absolutely lovely - that combined with the fantastic food truly makes this place stand out. I got the chicken cone this visit, which is a reimagined way to eat chicken and waffles; the chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection (didn’t feel too heavy!) and there was an excellent variety of flavors to choose from. All of the sauces are phenomenal and have that homemade touch - my favs (hard to choose bc they were all so good) were are the Peri Peri (which has a lingering spicy kick to it) and the yella bbq (like chick-fil-a sauce but way better). Get the syrup as a nice dipping finish to any of the sauces. The joint also had fun and tasty slushies - great for a warm day. This time, we didn’t get the fries but will be returning for them bc they looked crisped to perfection and well seasoned (and I’m picky about fries). Overall this place was #socluckingood! The "LADY" (assuming she's the owner) seen my curiosity and jumped at the moment to present her new establishment and turn a potential customer into a sale. Her energy and enthusiasm was on point! She didn't lay it on thick like how most people do in the first months of opening. I was going to get a pizza next door @ Basic Pizza, but the "LADY" turned me into a sale! Whatever product that "LADY" gets behind is going to be very successful!! She could sell ice to an Eskimo! And the chicken sandwiches are delicious. They also sell slushies! But popcorn chicken in a waffle cone... You can't go wrong! They have several different sauces you can pick from, that get drizzled on yo chicken. CHECK'EM OUT!!! You won't be disappointed

I never knew I needed a cone full of delicious chicken tenders in my life until I stumbled upon Chicken'nCone on my way to Petco Park. It's like they knew that walking to a baseball game works up an appetite, and what better way to fuel up than with a portable cone of crispy, juicy chicken goodness? Not only is Chicken'nCone conveniently located on the way to the stadium, but they also have a variety of sauces to choose from to take your taste buds on a flavor journey. I personally recommend the spicy buffalo sauce for an extra kick of heat that will have you cheering in the stands.

Had a sample of the chicken. Was nice and tender actually but wasn't feeling a full meal this round (no fault of CNC). I definitely need to come back and get a proper meal here! Had the milkshake. As far as banana milkshakes it was good, no complaints. Little waffle bits to fit the theme, nice crunch if that's your thing! Nice enough workers, take these 3 stars as a high 3! I need to come give the second review. Im a sucker for chicken sandwiches!

This is basically downtown so parking can be tricky. Warm greeting when walking in. Freshly made waffle cones and they chopped up chicken and sauced up and put it in the cone! How fun is that? Very unique and tasty eats. If you're ever in East Village or just feel like swinging by for a fun bite to eat, this is the place. They also have a fun green backdrop to take Foodie photos and plenty of seating.

This fried chicken vendor has opened up in an East Village suite about a block north of Petco Park. There is also a San Marcos location in North County under different ownership. The inside of the suite had a predominant color of orange which seems to be common for fried chicken places. There were enough two-top tables and countertops to seat about 30 customers. The menu concept was pieces of fried chicken served in a different vehicle (waffle cone, sandwich, bowl). Tenders can also be ordered along with three different sides. Three milkshakes and some drinks rounded out the offerings. I picked the namesake Chick'nCone without the option of upgrading to a meal. For a pricey $11.49, about a dozen pieces of boneless fried chicken were placed inside a large waffle cone. One of six sauces came with the order so I chose the Cinna-Maple. A chicken tender was cut into chunks and inserted into the cone. Neither the chicken nor the waffle cone seemed to be freshly made as they weren't as crispy as they could have been. The quality was average for their signature product, therefore I gave three stars for my order at Chick'nCone.

Delicious! First saw this place a the Foodie fair in Del Mar.. then, at Wonder Fest down town! Chicken in a waffle cone is soo good! Chicken is cooked perfect... Waffle cone is warn and sweet.. yummm!! Definitely a must try!! I was leaving the padre game and stumbled up on this place again so I had to get some!! So Glad I did!! Service was friendly and food was cooked to order.. the downtown location is simple and clean.. Check em out if you're in the area!

Finally it's open. I've seen their sign for awhile and always wondered if they'd open. I love chicken and waffles so it's a great concept. Chicken in a waffle cone instead of ice cream. BLUF- it was okay. I think I have to try them again but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way for them especially with the downtown parking situation. I went in the evening after the baseball game. I didn't really feel like having their iconic chicken in a waffle cone because it seemed like a lot of food so I opted for the chicken sandwich. I decided to go with their spiciest flavor Peri Peri. It was more on the mild side so if you are looking for Spicy, it's not it. The chicken was fresh and juicy but lacked in flavor for me. The flavors mainly come from the sauce and the chicken sandwich didn't have enough of it. For the chicken sandwich with peri peri sauce, I feel like it would've been better if the peri peri was like the Nando's perinaise sauce. The bun was a typical brioche bun. For ~$15 for a chicken sandwich meal with tax and tip, I expected better. My friend tried their chickn cone at foodieland and she liked it. The cone is def the way to go because you can dip your chicken in the sauce and they use Krusteauz waffle mix. Service- it was good. The employees were friendly and brought my order to me. Ambience - well decorated and I love that they know the neighborhood is dog friendly so dogs were able to come in. It also smelled like waffles. If you do try them, ask for sauce samples so you can pick one that you know you will for sure like.

We stopped at Chick'n Cone while in town for a conference. I had the namesake with Peri Peri sauce, my wife had the crispy wings, and my daughter had the plain tenders. The Chick'n waffle was great - the cone was a little softer than you usually get with ice cream, which I think worked a lot better. The Peri Peri sauce was excellent - a little sweet with just the right amount of heat. Also the service was great.

The service is one of the best in San Diego and the food is cluckin' good! If you are near this place, hesitate not! Grab a bite and you will be more than alright! The chicken sandwich, fries and shake (strawberry and vanilla) is on point! Thank you Vanessa and Tegan! You both have won me over. I'll bring back the team!

The service was great. This spot is located in a convenient part of town unless there is a Padres game going on. The chicken was fresh, but not nearly as thick & juicy as other spots. They have a variety of different sauces you can choose from. The only real complaint I have is that I found the fries to be very bland with not much taste.

The chicken here is soooo delicious! Loved the sauce options as there were many to pick from. The cinnamaple was excellent and tastes like chicken and waffles. The cone itself was a nice little snack as well. Such a cool spot! The service was amazing as well! Def have to check them out!

Food was delicious and staff was very friendly. Love the closeness to Petco Park. Visited before a concert for a quick bite to eat since all the other bars and restaurants around the stadium were packed. Was delightfully surprised

Winning Idea, Poorly Executed Having visited this restaurant three times, I now feel comfortable in my impression and assessment: This restaurant has all the hallmarks of a franchise owner relying on the franchise for their own commercial success. Customer Service: Staff is inattentive and lacks the training to create meaningful and welcoming interactions. Food Consistency: Signature items and sandwiches widely vary in quality from visit to visit - which is a fairly difficult thing to say about fried chicken. Ambiance: With lights turned low, the restaurant has a dark cavern feel. Overall, the Gaslamp offers far more genuine experiences and better fast-food flavors than Chick'nCone.

Loved the wing box, did not need the sauce,, perfectly cooked, I'll be back. #tasty Fries just the way I like them.

I ordered a chicken bowl. They didn't even give me Mac n cheese! I asked for some Mac, and they gave me a spoonful. Other people were having their bowls filled with Mac!

This hole in the wall place is amazing! Friendly staff, quick service, and very good food for an affordable price! Definitely a go to for downtown!! And can't forget the milkshakes with waffle pieces and homemade whipped cream! So! Good!

Damn it ! BEST chicken wings EVER! I hope you can reopen during Comic-Con and stay open from then on. #SDCC2024.

New to the city of SD & wanted a glimpse of the "southern" East coast taste & Chick N Cone San Diego did NOT disappoint! From the amazing A1 customer service from their friendly staff and clean establishment (they even have a 100% sanitation rate) I couldn't have asked for a better experience! The food was TOP NOTCH & there was flavor in EVERY bite, the kick n Ranch sauce had me licking my fingers like a baby! The owner Vanessa H is probably one of the nicest people in San Diego, so glad my family & I stopped in to dine with Chik n cone San Diego. As you can see they were fur baby friendly & my family & I had a BLAST

I went here to initially get a ChicknCone but when I saw the Mac and cheese bowl I knew I had to try it. The food and customer service were excellent. Food was so good but I forgot to take a pic. Everything was flavorful. I also like that this is a Gift A Meal restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is clean. They had great music too. I hope you enjoy your experience here. I will definitely be going back.

This is my favorite place in the world, the chicken tenders and fries were incredible. It changed my life. I'm so thankful for this place. I'm gonna come back every weekend. I only hope the best for the employees. Love you guys.

Stopped by today during my lunch hour with my coworker. Great location, the owner was super friendly. Chicken was fresh! Overall great experience! Food was excellent and customer service was top notch!

I'm really confused to why there's so many 5 star reviews. Order a few things and it all tasted like it was straight from the frozen aisle. My $10 chicken sandwich was literally just a couple of low quality tenders on an average bun, no toppings at all. The prices are the same as places like Dave's Hot Chicken, but the quality is nowhere near it! I feel ripped off.

The Cajun corn was super crazy good. My chicken sandwich was excellent. My boys are picky as hell and there were no leftovers! Good job guys!

Great quality, convenient food. 3 chicken strips, a side, and a shake for a little less than $12. Strips were big, crispy, and extremely fresh. Buffalo blue sauce was delicious.

Ive been here a couple of times Ive tried the chicken in cone, the chicken bowl and the kickin' fries (I think that the name) by far the fries are my favorite but chicken in cone is a great walking snack. Its the perfect munchies place the neighborhood needed. Staff is super friendly every time and on top of keeping the place clean. definitely check it out!

I really like their food. Chicken and cone is my go to. The selection of sauces is great. The only thing is when they had open either they were not too busy they decided to "close" early if I hadn't ordered ahead I wouldn't of had to look for an alternate dinner plan.

I think its great that a fast food place has opened near Petco Park. We need more low cost food especially food that you can easily take into the ball park and eat at the ball park. I wanted to like this place but its got some growing pains. The service and desk workers were really friendly and pleasant. The inside atmosphere was kind of unpleasant and ugly (fast food). And the food just didn't seem right. It didn't look like the pictures on their web site. I expected hot fried chicken on a cone. The cone was great. The chicken wasn't. It wasn't hot. It wasn't crispy. It was soggy and tasted very much like fast food processed chicken. I think the owner of this franchise needs to make sure the people making the food are doing it right. It should be hot and crispy like the pictures online. I'll try this place again in a few months to see if they have improved.

Any place that sells a chicken "sandwich", that is actually just two broken chicken stripes, isn't a place worth going. Fries were as crunchy inside as they were outside, which is unfortunate because they were seasoned nicely. Mac n cheese tasted like pasta water. Worst than kraft. Like most places downtown that aren't high end restaurants, its food for drunk nights. Customer service was on point thought.

Me and my boyfriends family went here before a padres game and it was incredible!! The chicken is so crispy and delicious, if you like spice they definitely have something spicy enough for you and they have two sweet flavors as well! You can smell the cones even when they aren't making them and oh boy does it draw you in :)) our service was friendly and fast, especially considering we were 4 people who had never been there before! Also I will 100% recommend their slushies! I got one on a cold day and I still finished it cause it was so tasty!!! I WOULD GIVE A 10/5 IF I COULD!!!!

The first time I was here I had an amazing chicken cone with the kicking ranch sauce it was delicious. The second time I had the chicken sandwich and the cajun fries and it was excellent quality and very good. The people here are very friendly and it is also comfortable and clean inside. This is a great place to catch a quick delicious meal before the baseball game. Highly recommended!

Not only the best chicken sandwich I've ever had , but Vanessa talks to everyone while you visit . Makes me feel at home, I love her. Try the shakes too , they're the bomb!!!

I've been here a couple times and I always get the same thing, the chicken bowl. It comes with mac & cheese, fries, and chicken. I've ordered the banana shake as well and the flavor is immaculate. The staff are very friendly and good to converse with. I'll definitely be returning.

Finally made it to Chickncone downtown San Diego and I am glad I did . Since it was my first time I tried several items, spicy and non spicy chicken sandwiches with bbq sauce (both were delicious) I also had the wings I believe with Ranch seasoning . And the Mac n cheese was usually chain Mac n cheese isn't tasty but this was GOOD. The service was excellent and punctual . The ambiance was clean and accessible. I definitely recommend this spot.

When a fella at the barber shop unwrapped his sandwich I immediately wanted to steal it from him. Instead I asked him and he pointed me towards this little joint around the corner. I had the sandwich with kickin ranch. It was crispy and saucy I loved every bite. The fries were well seasoned and just to my liking with a generous serving. The banana milkshake went down like a fat kid on a seesaw, so tasty. My wife had the chicken bowl with peri peri and actually finished the whole thing and didn't leave me a bite :( so I guess she loved it. I'll definitely be back to try the other sauces and would reccomended this great spot to friends.

So happy to finally have a restaurant in San Diego with good tenders and fries! Highly recommend it; great food, friendly staff, and an even friendlier owner. I work nearby and definitely will be adding this to my lunch rotations. SUPPORT!

As far as chicken tenders go, this place is setting a very high bar! Super tasty, hot and fresh. I was a little underwhelmed by their Cajun corn side, but the Mac n cheese is terrific, and the tenders are top notch.

This place is AMAZING! Great place to stop after the padres game. You get a ton of food for a good price. Can't find anything like it inside petco park! You must try their milkshakes, they put waffle cone in them!! Amazing can't recommend enough!

First time here and it was so delicious - I highly recommended the chicken sandwich (got mine with the spicy ranch on the side). The tenders were tasty and crispy but definitely not dry! Definitely will be back soon

Wasn't expecting the odd combo of waffle cone and chicken to taste so good. Yella mustard chicken was amazing and French fries were the icing on the cake!
