Portland Falafel Restaurant Chickpeadx Closes in the Zipper Sunday - Eater Portland

"Middle Eastern mainstay Chickpeadx is giving up the falafel game. Earlier this month, the Zipper-based falafel spot announced on social media that the restaurant would close after five years in business on December 30. But like Perierra Creperie at Cartopia announced earlier this week, the team behind Chickpeadx will be back in February with a new schtick." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Fresh and tasty dishes with fun sauces. Pick your style - wrap, rice bowl or salad. The fried eggplant is delicious.

The Zipper is really great! All the dining options are good and I like a food pod that had all good choices. ChickPDX is one of our standards. Good meal for around $10. The falafel salad is my go to dish. Go in, order, good does come to you, easy and then bus your table. Lots of spots out in the sun but also room inside in the rainy season. Excellent choice for vegan, vegetarian, gluten free folks but it's actually just really good food

I will preface this by saying I am not a vegetarian. I love meat but I can get past that if the food itself is good. We had high hopes based on the reviews for this place but neither of us liked our falafel pitas. I have no idea why someone would think putting carrots and eggplant on a falafel would taste good (and maybe if you're a vegetarian that is ok with you) but it tasted bad. The pita itself was okay but the falafel was below average in every way and the sparse use of sauce and the extra charge for a little bit of feta cheese was extremely disappointing. I was very hungry but could only finish about half and even then I was pulling out lots of the filling. I'm not sure if it was the eggplant but something gave the pita a pungent, bitter taste and it was very off putting. If they had more menu options besides 3 different ways to eat the same exact thing it might get a higher review but all they had to offer was done extremely poorly.

Had the falafel pita. An interesting twist on an ancient mid-eastern fast food. Good, fresh, ingredients. Definitely on the expensive side. Service is slow during the lunch rush. Come only if you have 15-20 minutes to wait.

Everything is fresh and delicious. The cauliflower is particularly amazing. The Zipper in general is amazing right now. A few small plates from here, a couple from Wares next door, an amazing cocktail from paydirt and some soft serve (and a stunning chicken sandwich) from Basilisk is a wonderful night out with friends!

The falafels here are my favorite so far and the fried cauliflower was also a hit. The food was prepared quickly and all of it was very good. They carry Oregon Tonic Kombucha for the 'booch enthusiasts. I recommend the platter so you can try a few of their creations in one sitting. There is community seating in the back that serves as the eating space for all of the restaurants in that building.

Pretty mediocre. Falafel is good but wrap as a whole was poorly executed. Pita was dry and bready, and fell apart as I ate. The skin of the eggplant in the wrap was so tough, I literally spit it out thinking it was a piece of plastic. There's definitely better places to go for falafel. Maybe I should have gotten a bowl...

Had the falafel sandwich. Everything looks delicious but I was expecting more flavor. The amount of sauce is miserly and I believe that was the part of the problem but I think the ingredients were under-seasoned generally. I say this as someone who is frequently grossed out by the amount of salt used at a lot of popular Portland restaurants. The texture of the ingredients was great and the falafel was crispy and hot. So sad it was bland. I work nearby and really want to like this place.
