"Chiesa, an intimate and endearing Italian restaurant in Asheville’s historic Montford neighborhood, was closing permanently. Chiesa is Italian for church, which is what the building was before being turned into a restaurant in 2014, where the mantra was 'Food for the soul.'" - Eater Staff

The food and service was great! We were greeted and served immediately and the waiting staff was friendly and helpful. I was there with family, and the owner came by and had a conversation with us. Overall we all had a pleasant experience and will be going back the next time we visit Asheville. Would definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved Chiesa! So much so that we returned a second time two days later during our visit to Asheville. On the first visit I had an appetizer of grilled octopus and an entree of basil pesto shrimp with angel hair pasta. Both were specials of the night and both were outstanding! My wife had the stuffed mushrooms and the spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli. Both of those were also outstanding. We split a desert of lemon mascarpone cake that was so good we had it again on our second visit. Our waiter was excellent in spite of also seating people who arrived as well as being the bar tender that night and he made a great martini! On our second visit I had the caesar salad and the seared ahi tuna which was done to perfection and my wife had the mozzarella stuffed meatballs and sausage stuffed ravioli. As I mentioned before we loved the lemon mascarpone cake so much we had it again for dessert. I might also add that all of the pasta is house made as well as the sausage and it really makes all the difference. We are both looking forward to our next visit to Asheville so we can return to Chiesa again.

Rarely give 5 stars . Best pasta and tomato gravy and I’ve been to Michelin restaurants all over the world. My wife got the pasta with the tomato sauce and I think coconut milk .

Best Italian I have had in a loooong time, possibly ever. Very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. The owner, Melissa, is very passionate and friendly. We loved our experience. Their Diavolo sauce is to die for and the Pesto Alfredo (upon special request) is also exquisite.

The brussels sprouts hash was very tasty. The chicken marsala was over cooked and they replaced it with another one which was perfectly cooked and seasoned nicely. Their homemade sausage is very good and so flavorful.

Food was fantastic! Ordered their daily special, shrimp scampi in a creamy basil sauce and it was delicious. All pasta is made in house daily while sauces are made every other day in house. Service was polite and prompt. My wife and I didn't make reservations but got seated right away at their "community table." The tiramisu we ordered for dessert was definitely worth it as well. Big enough for us to share and feel like we had plenty. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

During our recent trip to Asheville we had the pleasure of dining at Chiesa. Our server, Matt, recommended an outstanding Pinot Noir in honor of my girlfriend's 50th birthday and provided outstanding service from start to finish. The meals (angel hair pasta w/shrimp and ravioli w/pesto sauce & shrimp) and tiramisu were delicious!

My wife and I came here over New Year's Eve weekend...our first time here. Made our reservations online too! Wow!! A warm, inviting interior and a great staff, everyone one of them. The food was indescribably good. Stuffed filet??? It was downright perfect from end-to-end. Actual in-house tiramisu!! ...creamy, fresh. This place is a favorite for life when visiting Asheville. And plenty of acoustical furnishings to keep the noise levels down, nicely done, well-managed.
