I'm not a restaurant owner, but if I was, I'd probably try and recruit the guy that was working there last night. He was the waiter/host (possibly more, as he was very knowledgeable of the history of the place). He delivered top notch service. Of course I didn't get his name, but he made every single customer feel like a friend. Very genuine, talkative, engaged, and he provided great recommendations. A+
On to the food, everything was very good, which made me wish I went with a bigger appetite, because I then wanted to try everything. A highlight for me was the Gordito - a small, simple, cheese-filled roll. So delicious, satisfying, and only $5. I'm not down with pork, an ingredient featured in most of the dishes at Chilangos, but I still managed. I got the flounder tacos special - super fresh, served with a great sauce on the side, and only $9.
On to the cocktails, I loved - LOVED - their margarita. I'm a big margarita fan, and they nail it. Served in a big glass, salted rim, and not junky/heavy, but almost "summery/fresh" (if that makes sense), and a bargain for $8. My hubz had the Coyote Trail cocktail and said it's one of "the best he's had in a long time." I had a sip, and it was amazing.
I keep mentioning prices, because I think Chilangos is affordable and fairly priced, though I'm a Brooklyn transplant, so maybe it's not. Who knows. But I was pleasantly surprised by all of the food prices on the menu (as well as the complimentary chips & salsa).
Finally, my only gripe about my experience - and it's a big one, yet has nothing to do with the actual business - is the parking situation. There really isn't anywhere to park. The cocktails are so good though, that maybe you should Uber it anyway.
