"Leslie Garcia continues her late husband’s vision, honoring David Montes de Oca with a welcoming Kenner eatery brimming with traditional Mexican flavors. Chilangos Restaurant was de Oca’s post-Katrina dream a step up from the taco truck that served construction workers around town. He learned his taco-making skills from his uncle, a “chilango,” or resident of Mexico City." - Clair Lorell

Yelp
Stopped on a Monday afternoon, not many customers inside. Got some chips and salsa, and a small dip bowl of I think mole, or pureed frijoles???? The salsa was bad. Pureed tomatos or some bad canned salsa. No onion, garlic or jalapeno. Pretty tasteless. The mole was better, but still not great. Had a horchata, tasty. THE FOOD: Ordered a lengua taco, and Bistek ala Mexicana. The lengua was just ok. Tortilla good, Cilantro and onion. The bistec itself was good. Not too much meat, but had good flavor and the sauce had a good kick. The rice wasn't good, the frijoles were passable. Overall, kind of disappointed. I had heard good things about this restaurant.

Yelp
Worst service ever!!! Waitress argued over vegetable on tacos after told her twice no veggies on tacos raised her voice said I was not getting replaced as I had order them like this portions were also small waitress never came to refill drinks.

Thomas V.

Yelp
Toughest beef I have been served in a long time. Server took Our order then never showed up again. We had to get other people to help us, bring food, even pay. Ambiance is so so.

Quixana W.

Yelp
We stopped here for a bite to eat before our road trip back to Florida and it did not disappoint. The tacos were absolutely amazing. I got the shredded chicken, asada and lengua tacos. They were all great but the lengua tacos definitely stole the show. 10/10 recommend them. The service was great as well.

Alejandra B.

Yelp
Horrible service, horrible food! My birria tacos were nothing but fat. The waiter never returned to us, she looked mad the whole time; I will never return!

Kev J.

Yelp
The food is delicious! I love their birria tacos, the tacos al pastor, the chicken tacos, all so good and good portions too. I'll branch out after seeing another tables order of fajitas come out sizzling and smelling amazing! With so many Chilangos on Williams, this is my favorite

Yelp
This is my fav place in the area for authentic street tacos. The lengua is *chef's kiss.* The service here is pretty bad so I usually only order on ubereats. They have forgotten to include my queso and chips a couple of times, which is disappointing. It's not enough to deter me from those tacos though!

Roman L.

Yelp
The street tacos here are always a good option. Ever since they moved locations pre-covid, the food quality hasn't been the same in the new site doesn't have the same fun atmosphere. Still one of my favorite places to get street tacos in New Orleans when I'm in the mood.

Victoria P.

Yelp
Sooooo good! I've probably passed this place up a million times without even noticing! A friend of mine told me to meet her here for taco Tuesday! I had no idea they had $1 tacos and $3 margs!! That was the icing on the cake! The tacos come with a huge grilled jalapeño and I love spice so it was a pleasant surprise! Definitely coming back, can't beat these prices or that taste! My favorite was the fajita taco!

Yelp
Two part review coming up! I'll bury the lead and force you to read to the end for the good stuff ;-) This place is kinda your basic Mexican place. Affordable, lots of options I bit greasy and not so healthy. The wait staff can be hit or miss depending on how busy they are. Now you might be thinking why are you even eating there?! I'll give you two reasons The Menudo and The Consommé de Borrego! If you are hungover and need a quick fix those are your two best options for bouncing back to life! It you don't know what Menudo is I advice you to "Googoleale" as my brother says. It's one of the best hungover remedies and this place makes a great one and they don't skip on the meat. Now the other cure is the Consommé de Borrego and it's exactly what you are thinking; a light broth made of lamb shank. It is absolutely delicious and comes with the lamb shank. Those two items are the only reason why I drive 30 minutes to Kenner Brah!

Yelp
This spot is hands down the best place for tacos in New Orleans. The tacos are everything you could ever want for a taco. They are authentic and have a great selection of different salsas and accompaniments. Birria tacos and chicharrón are a must order. Service is beyond exceptional. Order all the taco types and be sure to grab a michelada, too.

David A.

Yelp
Here is a serious question. Why would you eat it any other restaurant in the entire city on Tuesday when you can come here and get one dollar tacos? They are awesome!!! Beware of the salsa bar. Some of the sauces don't look too spicy but they are. Sure you don't speak Spanish. Sure the waitresses gonna laugh at you when you get too much salsaand your eyes and nose begin running like a faucet. Who cares? It's worth it!

Yelp
My friend and I went were on a girls weekend getaway in Kenner La. We stayed at the La Quinta hotel across the street from this Mexican restaurant.. We decided to walk across this busy hwy to go get a Margarita.. Bad idea first we were the only 2 Black people in there but it wasn't a problem to us until the server reminder us. She did say Hello when she came to the table. I ordered queso and a margarita because it literally was the only thing in english I could read. So my friend decided to just get the same thing, it took 15min to get that when I know it doesn't take long for queso because its something they use on all there food..after she brought us that she never returned to see if we need a napkin refill or anything. We watched her along with other servers constantly attend to other customers (Mexican) We then sat there and wait for our ticket that we eventually had to get up and go to the register to get but they were bringing tables around us there tickets. Then she added both our orders together instead of asking was it one check or two. My friend left her a tip I told her I wouldn't have left her nothing.. After paying it wasn't a thank u or anything. Someone please let the Mexicans know they are no better than Me hell some of them are darker than me..They need to be closed down for discrimination

Yelp
This is going to probably end up being my new go to Taco Tuesday spot. The food is excellent and the staff is super friendly. The steak tacos are delicious and very flavorful. I also had the steak nachos that were outstanding. This place is fairly new and you can get in with a wait but it definitely won't be like this once more people find this dime in a rough. I will be eating here again probably Tuesday!!!

JJ B.

Yelp
Service was friendly. Salsas were ok including the black bean salsa. The burrito was huge and included guacamole salad and rice. Way too much for me to eat. The taste was ok overall with plenty of meat but I was looking for more of a balance of flavors between meat and other ingredients cilantro which wasn't quite there and some of the meat was too fatty and had gristle. It was ok overall but I've had much better at a taco truck in NOLA.

Sara M.

Yelp
I won't be coming back. I ordered one Fish and one shrimp ceviche tostadas. I paid $13 and received the most sad plate ever. Totally not worth the money, there is no point in arguing so I just won't go back.

Jena S.

Yelp
Very good fresh Mexican restaurant , the hostess only spoke Spanish we thought we were in trouble but our waitress was very nice and spoke English pretty good . They had a salsa bar where you could go serve ur self salsa verde with avocado and some other sauces very good I just wish their was more Of a traditional red salsa? The food and flavor was really good and the chips were fried fresh . I can't wait to go back and try more food I would deff give this place a try when you see nothing but Mexican people at a Mexican restaurant I think that's a good sign

Jared O.

Yelp
Come by friday and Saturday night until midnight and sunday until 10pm to get fresh al pastor from the spin top!!!

Yelp
My dining partner, upon realizing that the person serving us spoke no English, flashed a nervous glance and quietly said "Let get out of here!". "Fear not" I protested, "for I have 11 years of grade school Spanish and Google Translate right here on my phone". We stayed and were glad we did. Our meal started with chips and guacamole, the chips hot, and the guacamole made with prominent proportion of chopped onion that yielded a satisfyingly chunky texture. As can happen in a good Mexican place, we were well on the way to being stuffed on these. Fortunately the entrees arrived before we reached the stage where we would wonder why we had ordered anything else. Chicken enchiladas with verde mole was good, though on a return visit a different fellow diner pronounced it dry and mediocre. The pinto bean side was exactly right, as was a little salad of shredded lettuce (not my favorite way to present salad, but standard in this genre). . Black and refried beans are other options. Let's get back to that first visit with the more skeptical eater: She quietly accepted her fate to being surrounded by another language and multiple screens showing "futbol" in place of the NFL. Ultimately that didn't matter. Once our main course arrived, the next thing she said was, "Best quesadilla I've ever had." My dish on the second visit was the "bifsteak", a delicious combination of grilled onions and thin steak with a strong black pepper flavor. The side of grilled plantains was a generous portion and simple, cooked perfectly with just enough brazing on the sides for that hint of caramelizing. For fans of genus Musa (why, thank you Wikipedia!), these rank with Bananas Foster as a worthwhile choice for diners in New Orleans. On our visits, both Sunday afternoons, live mariachi musicians stroll among the tables and serenade. From appearances, I would guess most of the clientele is intimately familiar with Mexican food. I noticed on the second visit and in other reviews that the soups are one of the most popular items ordered, and highly regarded by other reviewers. Next time out, soup will be one of my choices.

Yelp
A hole-in-the-wall, ma and pop joint servicing mostly the Latino crowd. I've been coming to the restaurant on and off for years and have had mixed experiences, but lately, I notice a general degradation of its physical appearance, both its outside and inside comfort level, the quality and value of the food and drinks, and customer service. Collectivity, these add up to a subpar to a marginal dining experience. There's a risk in dining out and there are different reasons why people are willing to put up with a restaurant's shortcomings. Knowing what those shortcomings are is helpful in defining one's expectations and minimizing disappointments. But rudeness, dishonesty, and discrimination are never justifiable. Sadly, on past visits, I've experienced this firsthand. You can read other diner's reviews on Yelp that point out similar treatment by the management and the waitstaff. That said, in this regard, the place is a disaster. You are free to spend your money anyway you like but you might be happier if you spend your money someplace else.

Yelp
Nice ambiance. Colorful and cozy. Our server was pleasant and accommodating. Complementary chips and salsa. The salsa is served warm and is quite tasty. Great, freshly-made guacamole. I ordered huaraches from the lunch menu which is served on the weekends too. $8.00. Very impressed by the freshness of all the ingredients. My partner ordered the chicken with mole. The sauce was delicious. For those of you who lack confidence in overcoming a language barrier, fear not: the menu descriptions are printed in English.

Nacho B.

Yelp
Caldo de res is good but they need to cut there carrots down but over all good food nice and clean spot

Charles H.

Yelp
$8 LUNCH SPECIALS INCLUDING A (5) TACO PLATE and you can get a variety of fillings including steak, beef, chicken, tongue, pork and pastor. We tried the sopes: essentially 2 soft tacos with a ton of meat and the works (beans, avocado, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes) - almost two meals. The steak and chicken were particularly moist and tasty, each with its own smokey marinade flavor. NOT REALLY WORTH THE TRIP TO KENNER THOUGH The service wasn't attentive and the tables sticky. If you're looking for authentic Mexican/Hispanic food in New Orleans proper, I prefer Taqueria Guerrero in Mid City.

Yelp
I love Latin Cuisine. This is a little hole in the place. Which to me are best places to go. I met a friend for dinner but while I was inside waiting for them to arrive not one single person acknowledged my existence. I did observe other patrons walk-in seat themselves so when my friend arrived we played follow the leader and sat ourselves. I will straight up say that our waitress was a little pissy (yes, I said it) when I said thank you instead of gracias when she handed us our menus. I ordered water and she looked at me and said aqua with a raised brow....... yeah this gets better. My friend ordered carne something (in Spanish)...... I order chicken fajita and the waitress looks at my friend so my proceeds to order the fajita pollo. It was apparent the language barrier was an issue. I sat quietly as I often do to study my surroundings. The food was beautiful and plentiful... very delicious. The service is why I only gave 3 stars. If I return I will download a translation app and hope for improvements in my experience. You can treat people like crap and expect them to spend their hard earned dollars to patronized a cuisine one loves. Hey, I get it -there are language barriers every where - I would have happily spoken Spanish to the waitress had she not pre judged me.... Never assume based on looks! So basically according to our waitress my friend was there alone- she would not acknowledge my existence, look my way to speak or even that I was taking up space...... things like that affect gratuity...... I'm not required to tip 20+%( which I over tip) in fact I'm not required to tip at all.... Oh turn the music down some .... it's a restaurant not a night club.....there's nothing wrong with loud music it was just toooooo loud

Yelp
Since my last post about 6 months ago, I have probably been here 30+ times (no joke)! One thing I noticed was that after my post about $7 lunch specials they raised the prices. I have tried several different menu items from the fajitas mixtas oaxaquenas (shrimp, chicken, and carne asada), burritos, huaraches, etc. and I have come to the conclusion that this may not be the best Mexican food in greater New Orleans. However, I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant that has better Tacos Al Pastor! They are my go-to at this place and it has become the only thing I order (never gets old)! I would highly recommend that you dine here on a Friday or Saturday night. I have learned that is when they have the taco guy outside and all of the meat is grilled by them. They have Al Pastor spit-grilled and slow roasting... It is to die for when prepared like that!! They set up tables to eat outside and all of the locals swarm this place late night until about 2am because there is no other place like it for late night tacos after drinking. For the most part they are very consistent with their food. Sometimes there is a language barrier if you call in a to-go order, so be sure to check your food before you leave because sometimes it's completely wrong. I would stay away from the carne asada... It is consistently dry and lacking flavor unless it's a taco man night. It is definitely one of the best overall Mexican food joints in the area... But perhaps my search for that perfect place will continue.

Magali R.

Yelp
I love the food best Mexican food ive found since i moved from Cali Which was like 4 almost 5 yrs ago. (I have tried like 50 different mexican places and this one is the best)Best tacos ever specially carne asada! I wouldnt recommend the margaritas here tho sorry not good. Also ever since they moved location their staff services been better. Waitress ppl seem nicer now not like before.(well i think lol)

Pany S.

Yelp
Love the green sauce on my tacos. $1 for some really good tacos on Tuesdays.! The service is hot or miss but it's still worth the delicious tacos. I haven't found a better place in the city yet.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Beware because gratuity is included in your check, which is fine-no big deal, IF THE SERVICE IS GOOD. We went on a Tuesday with taco specials and margarita specials. When we ordered the margarita our waitress asked if we wanted a medium or a large- keep in mind never mentioning that the special was only for a small (much less offering the special), which was very annoying. When we received our check and noticed we were charged way more than we saw the margarita special was for brought it up to the waitress she said we had to pay for it because we drank it (we were never not planning on not paying for it). I asked to speak to a manager and she told me they did not have one. All in all this was all very time consuming and frankly irritating there was no one to speak to about this issue. Food was decent but overall experience very poor.

Kris S.

Yelp
The lunch specials definitely deserve 5 stars!! However, charging me $15 for a weak ass margarita with an "extra shot" was not worth it.. Still tasted weak so maybe ill just stick with getting the lunch specials from now on... Btw their sopes are great!!!

Argeau B.

Yelp
This was another random Yelp recommendation we jumped at that turned out to be worthwhile. There have been a number of Mexican places in this space over the years, some good and some bad. Stepping into the restaurant you do not feel like you are in Louisiana anymore. It has a very authentic ethnic feel with most of its patrons being Spanish speaking. I would characterize this place as an upscale Mexican homestyle cooking restaurant. I recognize that is somewhat of a contradiction in terms because traditional Mexican food is usually unpretentious and substantive. So by upscale I mean a little fancier ( for example their seafood soup has a much more diverse array of seafood in it than would be otherwise traditional) , but still well within the realm of traditional Mexican comfort food. Prices are good, portions are good. The condiment bar is great quality. If you want real traditional Mexican food, this is probably one of the best places in the city, and along those lines it appears to also have traditional Mexican style service which means maybe they're attentive maybe they aren't. At one point I began to wonder if I did something to piss off the waitress, the way I would get odd looks and rare attention from her. This seems to be one of those places where a lot of regulars go and when somebody shows up for the first time maybe they get weird looks? I don't know, but I got that vibe. In any case I would definitely return and visit this place again, although note to self: I might want to being the waitress a small gift next time to encourage my drinks to be routinely refilled.

Patrick M.

Yelp
Great food great service Homemade sauces are wonderful Chips and salsa are always fresh

Aejay Marie P.

Yelp
Really delicious!!! OMG! I was never a fan of refried beans. *don't judge me. Please!* but dang! This one is sooo good!! I ordered Pollo. It is a bomb! Though the lady got my order wrong, instead of plantain she gave me fries. But it's alright.

Quynh D.

Yelp
Wow. So I totally judged at first and this definitely wouldn't be a place I would choose to eat at looking outside. The restaurant outside is pretty grungy and intimidating. The inside is surprising, the leather on the booths isn't ripped, clean seating. However, get ready to get your ears blasted with Mexican music. This place is as authentic as I can imagine. But! The food! So good! The quesadillas were delicious. They weren't super cheesy but it did have tons of flavor. My boyfriend got the tacos and he enjoyed those as well. The food is flavorful and the delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa were good as well. The chips seemed made in house - always a good thing. The salsa was spicy and not too watery. I'd come again, but hopefully the music won't be as loud.

Fernando E.

Yelp
Tacos! Tacos! Tacos! Chilangos has great tacos. 3 things make a great taco , Chilangos tacos has all three. 1) Filling - the meats. Steak , carnitas , al pastor , chicken , lengua. The filings here are always flavorful. , moist and fresh. 2) the Tortilla- in my opinion , the corn tortillas here are heated on an open flame stove which chars the tortilla slightly and is much more tasty then to have the tortillas heated by microwave like many other Taquerias. 3) Garnishes- a great taco needs only to be simply garnished , here it is done with onion and cilantro. 3 or 4 different salsas are available as well. The price of Chilangos tacos is very reasonable and they are well worth it.

Keith C.

Yelp
The service was great, food was fresh and authentic Mexican food. Everything was so delicious, I can't pick one as my favorite. You have to try this place! You won't be disappointed!

Walt C.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday!!!!!! $1.00 delicious authentic food!!! Everything here os really good and super fresh tasting. I always have to have a chicharon taco, lengua and three el pastor. The salsa de aguacate is so good and spicy delicious!!

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars, I would. My husband and I visited last night. The food was average. We have eaten authentic Mexican food all over the country as we travel for a living. The menu was very small with not much variety, which is usually okay if what they cook is good. The fajitas vegs were not cooked, at all. There wasn't but a few ounces of meat versus the rest being all uncooked vegetables. The cheese dip was okay, but bland. The food was not the worst thing about this restaurant. My husband and I are white. We are not racist by any means and never meet a stranger. We love all people and it's our favorite thing about traveling. Authentic Mexican food is our favorite ethnic food. We don't really like Tex-mex, so we frequent real, authentic Mexican restaurants wherever we travel. With that being said, we have experienced racism from other cultures and "minorities" who are actually the majority in what ever place we were. Let me start by saying, we were one of 2 Caucasian couples dining there. The way were treated at this restaurant was appalling. The server was rude and dismissive from the start. We sat down and was not acknowledged for at least 10 minutes, while other couples came in after us, who were Hispanic, and our server promptly walked over and took their drink and food orders. When she finally approached us and took our drink order, I ordered water because I can't drink while I eat, so ordering anything else is a waste for me. She seemed offended that I ordered water, made a "you've got to be kidding me" face and asked me if that was all, while my husband ordered a beer. She brought out drinks and walked away, without making eye contact. Another 10-15 min go by and our server finally came back to take our order. I ordered one plate of mixed fajitas, because I can only eat about 8 ounces of food, and the server repeated what I ordered. When I said yes, she rolled her eyes. We waited about 25-30 min for our fajitas, while Hispanic people sitting around us, that came in after us, were almost finished eating. Like I said before, when the food came, there was almost no meat, maybe 3-4 ounces and a pile of raw vegetables. The salad that came with it was all lettuce with a teaspoon of guacamole and maybe a teaspoon of pico. Our server never came back to the table to ask if we need anything or if my husband needed another beer. No one else acknowledged us when we tried to get other servers attention. We had to flag her down to get a box and our check, because she kept ignoring us. It took us about 30 minutes after we were finished to pay and leave. I write reviews every where I travel. I'm a travel nurse and I have a lot of followers that are interested in places I eat. I give honest unbiased reviews and I usually take pictures and talked to owners to let them know will be reviewing their place on my website and social media. I will definitely be doing that, but It won't be to advertise good business practices for this restaurant. I can honestly say, if you are Caucasian, do not go to this restaurant, the food is not worth the money or racist treatment you will experience. There are many other authentic Mexican restaurants in the Kenner, Metairie, New Orleans area that has decent food, treats you with respect, and is appreciative of your business.

Chet J.

Yelp
Pulling into the parking lot, and especially walking through the door, is a complete cultural change. I'm glad my girlfriend speaks Spanish. Saturday nights are loud with a live broadcast (I think) and karaoke, so expect that. But the food was really, really good and our server was very pleasant.

Kip M.

Yelp
Third time i have been here since covid and it has been a huge let down. Ordered the chicken nachos and the chicken was dry (over-held). What upsets me is why would the cook put this on my nachos. You could take one look at the chicken and know you shouldn't serve this. 30 minute lunch break so i didn't have time to return. Also, no sour cream was on the nachos which seems to be an every time problem.

Jenny K.

Yelp
Pretty authentic Mexican. There's a chef outside grilling taco meats right in front of the window! I enjoyed the Street style taco de lengua minus the grilled veggies and big pepper laid atop -Would have preferred it on the side to minimize the sogging of my tortilla. It was a short distance from the grill to my table but my styrofoam plate had a little puddle of grease by the time it got to me! Lots of tv's for your eyeballs & several booths for your tush. Not a fan of the parking lot. Would I go again?...Maybe.

Hal J.

Yelp
PHENOMENAL TACOS!!! If you come here, order the 5 tacos plate for 8 bucks. Be sure to have the Carnitas, Al Pastor, and Chicharrones tacos. You won't be disappointed. This is a pretty authentic place. The food is the best mexican I've had in town. The service can be spotty as per a language barrier, but I've found it to be overall pleasant.

Eman2112 H.

Yelp
This is a great little place. The food was excellent. The chips were very crunchy and the salsa was thin and spicy. There are bins with homemade hot salsas. The red kind of hot and the green hotter. My daughter got the big flour burrito. It was a brick! I had the bistek and chille relleno. My other daughter got the chicken casadilla. The server, Jennifer, was excellent and very attentive.

Katherine B.

Yelp
I wouldn't even put a star on this place! We ordered a Cuban Torta and we didn't like it! Not to mention she said "if you don't pay it, ima have to"... chips were stale and the service wasn't great! The margaritas tasted like a smoothie, no type of liquor! Not coming back!

Ariana Y.

Yelp
Had Chilango at Top Taco: New Orleans last night, phenomenal! Their set up defeated nearly 39 other competitors from around the city, including some pretty major New Orleans heavy weights, for Most Authentic Taco. The grilled Cebolla, pickled onions & carrots they offered took me back to my Southern Arizona roots, something that rarely happens here in this wonderful city. The owner was a joy, and I was proud to cast my vote for them. Thrilled they won! Fabulous food, fabulous people!

Talon M.

Yelp
Great food with a great atmosphere. The food is advertised as authentic Mexican and they aren't lying! Best tortilla chips I've ever had and they hand make their tortillas. The food had so much flavor that I made myself eat the whole plate even though I was full about halfway through! The restaurant itself is casual and relaxed with friendly staff. There's even a salsa bar as well as a full alcohol bar complete with frozen beverages.

Meg H.

Yelp
i always complain about lack of good mexican food in new orleans. apparently i just needed to go to kenner. let me start by saying i love condiments. i will try all the salsas you'll let me try. so, at least one star in this review is for the salsa bar in the middle of the restaurant, which is also stocked with a complimentary cucumber and onion salad as well as straws, napkins, side plates, and hot sauces, should you unexpectedly need such. they still give you great service at the same time, though. i got the taco plate because it's a great deal on the lunch menu at 8 dollars for 5 tacos. you can mix a match all kinds of stuff (the classics, like chicken, pork, beef, lengua, steak, carnitas, etc.). they let you order off the lunch menu seven days a week, too. tacos were great, and my friends torta was gigantic and looked equally delicious. service was good, too. i never thought i'd say this, but i'll be making the trip out to kenner more often.

Celeste H.

Yelp
Delicious food! It's a favorite late night place to stop in. Language barrier is not an issue and they make a great Margarita.

Shannon S.

Yelp
The food is decent and pretty authentic. They don't have iced tea and I tried to get a Topo Chico water but they just gave me a plastic bottled water instead. Sunday is a bad day to go here as they have VERY loud Mexican music blaring to the point you have to yell to understand the person right next to you. The loudness of the music makes this place intolerable and unbearable on Sunday or any other day they choose to do it. For just the food it is worth giving it a try but if you hear the loud music skip it.

Julia M.

Yelp
Authentic tacos barbacoa, carnitas, and lengua is a must try.. salsas are fresh and tasty but I little spicy if you are not used to hot food, overall good casual lunch quick bite to go.

Dangerous D.

Yelp
Tacos are great. Used to be the best in the city. Unfortunately the restaurant has declined in all aspects since the original owner/founder's death, sadly. RIP. He would be dismayed at the way the restaurant is run now. However, the tacos are still great. This is a sad case of a great restaurant who's food is held hostage by some of the worst wait staff I have ever seen in a restaurant. The reviews here are all accurate-- I've had some truly great meals meriting 5 stars... but I've had more miserable experiences where my food arrives maddeningly slow, no refills on drinks, absent waitresses, and just getting the bill finally on your table feels like a major battle. My Spanish isn't the best, but it's good enough that I can call in orders over the phone to other taquerias in the area. Not here apparently. I tried calling in an order and had the strangest experience. We weren't understanding each other so finally I asked the person nicely if there was anyone else I could speak to. "No English!" And hung up the phone on me! When I called back, busy signal. LOL. Maybe if you speak better Spanish than I do you could get better service and up the rating, but for now, this blanco nino gives it dos estrellas. If I come back I'll post an edit.
