15 Real-Life Scranton Restaurants and Bars Referenced on ‘The Office’

"The Chili’s chain has been at the forefront of several storylines on “The Office,” such as Michael taking out a client played by Tim Meadows for baby-back ribs in “The Client” and for providing the setting for the drunken Dundies awards ceremony. But when the show was being filmed, there actually wasn’t a Chili’s location in Scranton (the closest was Wilkes-Barre, which has since closed). Not to worry: a Scranton-adjacent location is slated to open in Dickson City later this year, and the company reportedly will lean into “The Office” connection when it debuts." - Missy Frederick

Why this location only have 3 star rating, I don't know. That does not match with our experience. Service was good, bartender was attentive, and was able to keep up with her bartop and all the incoming orders for drinks from the whole dining room. Service was rather slow. Maybe that's why they only have 3 stars on Yelp. 15ish minutes or more for dessert. The standard is 8-10 minutes. Our burger (the Bacon Rancher) was delicious. While it wasn't cooked to order as we would have liked (it was well done instead of the medium we had ordered), it was still very juicy and flavorful. Then we finished with Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie dessert. It too was yummy. It could have used a double scoop of ice cream to better valve the richness of the cookie.

Google
Busy location for the chain, we had about a half hour wait and the restaurant space itself was rather small. That being said, our server was fantastic and had a great attitude. The food was decent, maybe just a tad pricy for what it was.

Great experience during my last visit. My server was amazing and very attentive. Food was hot and a great value. You can’t go wrong with the “3 for Me” meals.

First of all, the staff at this chili's are so wonderful. The food and service were great, but the real winner was the different servers including Brittany for literally digging through a large trash can because my son had misplaced his very important retainer in a napkin. My son was heartbroken and they literally went to war looking for it. I'm in tears of gratefulness in their kindness and they will never know how much they impacted my son and how he feels about himself and his mouth today. THANK YOU!!!!!

Google
I really thought the hype was made up, paid for by Chili's HQ to drum up sales. I was wrong... the triple dipper. The lemon drop margarita. The chocolate lava cake. Not a single dish dropped the ball, whew!

My youngest son and I had some bonding time today and got lunch at Chili's. My burger was fresh and fries were hot. Our waitress made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal and they had every football game we wanted to see on TV lol. The 3 for me special is the perfect meal for something quick and still tastes fresh.

A Cesspool. I utilized the restroom while picking up an order and I literally felt like I was in a horror movie and had entered the twilight zone. What A Disgusting Mess! Urine was on the floor, feces was on the toilet handle, dirty doors, floors...I almost up chucked. How can someone eat from a restaurant that filthy.....Knowing workers use those same facilities?#JustNasty

Google
My wife and I visited Chili's on Brook Road on Sunday, July 13, at 11:30 a.m. and the manager there for some reason felt it absolutely necessary to sit everyone at the far end of the restaurant near the restrooms. She wouldn't sit anyone on the main floor nor would she let my wife and I sit in the booth we have use for years when we visit at least one Sunday a month. The justification was not enough staff. If you don't have enough staff you should not open till you do. I think Chili's need a new manager. Perhaps someone who cares about the customer.

Yelp
Service meh. Go for the chicken crispers. Skip the steak. *we did go during a busy Mother's Day at the end of the night. So will give them a pass. Also got a strawberry lemonade for the road no questions asked!

Yelp
I come here all the time. They have hands down the most organized service. A team for chips, another one for salad, one for drinks. You get the idea. On this visit, there were at least 2 parties of 20 or more people. That didn't affect their awesome service. I always get the 3 for Me deal. You can't beat all this for $10.99. I try to make different combinations, so I don't get bored. On this visit, I ordered my free chips and salsa. It is always free and you claim the coupon when you pay through the table machine. I ordered my unsweetened tea with Splenda, a garden salad with balsamic creamy dressing, the chicken sandwich by less with lettuce on the side and black beans and honey mustard on the side. My husband just ordered it as is. The salsa needs work. It's not my favorite. The balsamic dressing is bomb. The chicken is crispy and tender. Overall, it was really good. I'll post my other combinations soon. Definitely keep coming back. One thing: don't try to reserve a table through YELP, the restaurant will cancel it. They only let you check in person. If the wait is ever 30 minutes, I just cross over to Ross to kill time, but they do have a patio area outside if you hate crowds.

Yelp
The fall and rise of Chili's will be written in history books. We got their triple dipper with sliders, Nashville hot mozz sticks and honey chipotle chicken crispers, their BBQ platter with ribs and cheddar sausages corn elote and their 3 meal deal with Chicken, bacon ranch quesadillas. Everything was amazing. Each and every item was everything you want and expected from our nostalgia "fine dining" experiences. Even the corn on the cob elote was perfectly steamed and seasoned. Hats off to the chefs. We know it's prepared the way it is, but they still have to follow recipes and seasoning, and they do it well! We had a wonderful dinner on Sunday night. It was so busy but we got a booth for our sleeping 2YO. Service was great, especially for how busy it was. I felt God in that Chili's that night.

Yelp
Went for lunch on a Thursday. It was really busy. There was no greeter at the door when we walked in, so we (along with 3 other parties) had to wait about 7 minutes. We finally were seated, and our waitress came right over. Food was ok. My burger was dry, but nachos were good. Waitress wasn't attentive, maybe because it was busy. And we had to listen to loud training videos a trainee was listening too. Overall, not totally horrible, but not the best experience.

Yelp
There was a little wait as it was a snow day here in RVA. We waited about 15 min which 29 was quoted and then sat. Cute corner by the window. We were immediately greeted by kelly who was the sweetest server I've had in a while. Her customer service is top tier. On a busy day she had a busy section and was all over the place but made you feel like you were her only table while being so attentive to every one. I will definitely be requesting her. Our food and drinks came out hot and fresh and not watered down. She even made sure to bring our disposable utensils. The establishment including the bathroom was well organized and clean. This was a great visit and will def be returning.

Yelp
This Chili's has been so good lately! The food is always fresh and delicious. The 3 for me special is such a steal and if you have a rewards account you get chips and salsa free. The blackberry tea is my favorite and my fiance loves the monthly margaritas. Even when they're really busy, the service has been pretty good. It can be a little loud on the weekends but that's expected for the type of restaurant. My son has seemed happy with the kids menu as well. All in all an affordable and family friendly restaurant.

Yelp
April 2025 9950 Brook Rd Glen Allen, VA 23059 location We have never gone to a Chili's Grill & Bar restaurant in Richmond before and decided to try this place. We arrived after the lunch rush. I went and picked up the menus and we sat down in a booth to look everything over. Several minutes passed and a blond waitress walked past our table to check on a family of 3 who sat nearby. The waitress stopped by our table and addressed the 2 of us as 'guys'. How are you guys doing today, is what she said. I don't know when that became a saying especially when the person(s) are clearly Women! Addressing Women as guys is very Disrespectful and Annoying! I responded that we were Not guys and that was rude of the waitress to address us as such! The blond waitress's face turned beet red and without a word of apology, she did an abrupt turn and walked away from our table. I was just about to get up and seek the manager of the restaurant, when a very nice young lady (the name on the receipt is Teondra) who was assisting with the to go orders, approached to ask if we were ready to order. She did Not address us as guys! She answered our questions, and recorded our to go food order. I don't understand why it took over 15 minutes to receive the food but the food was okay. The lunch rush was over by the time we arrived. A huge Thank You to Miss Teondra, a very nice young lady, who added some sunshine and positivity to an otherwise unpleasant first time experience. Advice to management: Inform your employees to re-frame from addressing Women as guys! Its really very simple....Just say Hello, would you like to order now? Also, management should hired a professional cleaning crew. The area we sat in was dusty and had a old food smell.

Yelp
One a fantastic chilis establishment. Honestly cannot go wrong anytime you choose to dine in at any one of there places but this one especially had great service, food, and ambience. Shoulda got the margs though. What a missed opportunity. I will riot until a new one opens in cville.

Erica J.

Yelp
The service and the food was really horrible it started with the Texas fries I found an orange in my fries I'm like ok mistake then when they brought out a remake of the fries there was and orange in that one so I asked the waitress is this something new they are doing she stated no I don't know what's going on back there this does not supposed to be in here she apologize and said I will take this off your order i'm like OK fine at this point so my daughter was eating her food and we noticed a ant on the table we called the waitress again and let her know it's an ant on the table and as she was standing there, we noticed an ant on my daughter's plate she didn't state it. I don't know why they're still seeing people here we had this problem earlier. All I could do is shake my head. Can we see the manager? basically he really does nothing but takes my daughters order off the ticket

Jackie N.

Yelp
The bartender was very polite and kind. I stopped in for quick lunch and to get to go items for husband later. I was starving after shopping near by and had not been to a chilis in a long time. I wish I had just gone home. Please! please! don't get the chicken fajita explosion salad. The chicken was still frozen, the cheese was moldy and lettuce wilted. The side quesadilla bites were also burnt. The nice bartender had them remake them but they need to clean/change oil. They were terrible. My stomach felt terrible minutes after leaving there. I unfortunately have food poisoning and being admitted to hospital. Don't order any salad or chicken from this restaurant. Henrico doctors hospital doing a report from my visit. Actually just do yourself a favor a realize this chain has gone way down the hill. Don't go there to eat. So disappointing. I just wanted a salad and take out. Got food poisoning instead and don't wish this on anyone.

Yelp
It was my 1st time here and I liked it. People were very chill and I liked the relaxed, unrushed vibe, which is new to me. 1. Reservation: not necessary, enough seats 2. Food: 4 stars - I liked their salsa and chips. Loved how thin the chips were - Guacamole could have been better - Shrimp and steak fajitas: good. 3. Drinks: margarita was good and generous portion 4. Service: we sat at the bar and loved our server. I was quite surprised how good this place was. Don't expect some michelin star things here, they deliver what they promised, comfortable food, booth, service and atmosphere.

Karen S.

Yelp
Friendly staff at this location make this Holiday Strawberry & Blackberry Margarita even merrier! Quick service & easy atmosphere. Grab the Triple Dipper with lots of choices & wing sauces! Plenty of more healthy choices too!

Yelp
Everything was great as usual. Friendly helpful staff, good food, decent prices. We come here several times a month and always a good experience.

Yelp
I chose this spot for an evening meal as I hadn't been here for years. The last thing I ordered were their chicken strips which were delicious. In this recent visit, this was not the case. The chicken tenders were smaller in size and lacked flavor. We also ordered the double stacked ranch burger and the meat was surely plentiful but the fries were extremely salty. This was disappointing because near $20 for a burger entree, you would hope the fries were alright. We also wanted to try their chicken ranch quesadilla as an appetizer but ended up getting them after our entrees. They were not enjoyable nor worth the price as you barely get any meat in it. It's two tortilla shells sandwiched together with sour cream, lettuce, and pico de gallo on the side. This was a busy night and understood service may be slower but gratefully, the wait for food wasn't an issue at all. However, we also weren't refilled on our drinks nor offered during the duration of our meal. The overall experience would not encourage us to return.

Kathy D.

Yelp
Katie and Hannah are awesome service members... kind and professional!!! They greeted us with a smile and promptly took our orders. Food and drinks were grate ... highly recommend this store

Yelp
The 3 for you special is a great choice for a great juicy hamburger fries and a soft drink. It is also a great bargain. It also includes chips and salsa for a starter. My waitress of choice is Alice. She is very attentive. The place is spotless and a pleasant place to go for lunch

Jordan D.

Yelp
I made a reservation online a week in advance considering it was a holiday weekend. I received several reminder texts and emails. They canceled it the day of 2 hours prior. They said they don't take online reservations. You have to physically come in and speak to a host to get in the wait list.

Hannah F.

Yelp
Food and Service was good. I loved that they had all day happy hour on the weekends and the chips & salsa are bottomless.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Good service and prices. It was a busy Friday night but after being put on the wait list we were seated under 30 minutes. Waitress was great!

Rianne H.

Yelp
Got there during the rush, yes there was a wait but we were told 20 minutes felt like 10. Amazing table turnover and even better service got the triple dipper, the fajita combo and some extra sides. Overall a 10/10 experience.

Ron C.

Yelp
Chili's is a great place to eat. I like the three for me option. Hard to beat their bacon burger, fries, and the chips and salsa. Very affordable and very good.

Yelp
Shan the waiter made our eating experience at Chili's an extraordinary one! I Love excellent customer service!! Shan went way beyond the call of duty! Shan was on point regarding my meal selection, made sure we had everything we needed, and wasn't overbearing! Someone's parents dida a great job! I got the Thai chili chicken tenders, southwest soup (so hearty) and lemonade, $10- 3 pick special! And we were blown away! You all need to run to Chili's and take advantage of the special's! My sister got the chicken margarita with side salad and lemonade! There was so much food we packed it up to go! Shan was so gracious and accommodating! Chili's Managers, clone Shan, or give them a raise and promotion, so others can be properly trained, or they will leave! I highly recommend this Chili's location! Ask to be seated in Shan's section, for exceptional service

Caleb A.

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER TO-GO FOOD FROM THE BROOK RD CHILI'S!!! YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A BAD TIME AND THE "MANAGER" THINKS CHILDISH LIES ARE AN ACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!! Just waited an hour to pick-up food, stuck in front of the bathrooms because the "manager" at the Brook Rd Chilis only allowed DoorDash drivers to sit down while we waited an eternity. After about 30 minutes of waiting, it was obvious that the "manager" was only concerned with completing DoorDash orders due to their increased mobile order profits. The "manager" also became rude whenever someone new walked in and asked the status of their orders, roughly 12 others at the peak of this awful experience. Despite how much the "manager" said he was rushing to get the food ready, only mobile orders continued to be fulfilled. The biggest problem of this situation is that I received a text message that the food was ready at 6:25, and I would never have gone in to pick-up the food if I knew I would be walking out at 7:25. How does notifying patrons of a complete order, when they will have to wait an hour, benefit Chili's? The "manager" eventually stopped coming out of the kitchen, probably because belittling patrons who have already ordered and paid online wasn't going his way. At the end of what has become the last time I ever eat Chili's, my food was cold, which makes the wait make no sense if the food was ready to go? The service at the Brook Rd Chili's has been continuing to go down over the last year, but tonight's "manager" makes me question internal decision making/manager qualifications and I sincerely hope this franchise get's "Red Lobster'ed" in the near future.

Yelp
Stopped here on a road trip while charging up the Tesla. They were clearly having staffing issues, but let me tell you the manager at this location was a ROCKSTAR! She seated us and served us, all while running the bar, serving other diners, and running the hostess station . That woman deserves a raise, she went so above and beyond that I will be writing to Chili's corporate about how wonderful she made our experience given the circumstances! Hard working managers who truly care about a restaurant during tough times deserve all the praise I can give. At the location in my hometown up north, we saw the manager sitting in a booth chatting with friends while two servers struggled to run the entire restaurant (while the bar was "shut down"). Great to see there's still hard working managers like this one out there who care...

Ismael M.

Yelp
the silverware is not even washed it's dirty the food takes so long to get out the table wasn't even clean when we got here (we had a reservation) the service is super bad the waitress doesn't even come to refill our drinks she walks past and doesn't say anything I don't recommend this chilis

Rick B.

Yelp
I got the chicken bacon quesadilla and had very little chicken and less bacon. Basically a tortilla.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
I will say I have not been to a chili's in a couple of years, but the food was as I remembered. The facility seemed clean and there was plenty of parking. The thing that was so stand out about this particular place was our waiter was amazing even though you could tell they were short staffed! Would definitely go back if he was working, I wish I would of got his name but he was great!
google avatar

Sathya A.

Yelp
Chili's is always the move! Their molten lava cake was more stiff than I remember but they had great margaritas and wonderful customer service. No outdoor seating here tho :(
google avatar

Quantina T.

Yelp
So, my rating is based solely on my experience at the bar. After a long, hot evening my friends and I were feeling parched and in search for liquid perfection. Our adventure led us to Chili's We were greeted by a very attentive bartender! I can't remember her name, but she was wonderful. My first drink "The Castaway" was amazing. It was light and refreshing. (Let's see it included rum, mango, more rum, pineapple) Of course we did a round of shots. Then I tried the Firecracker Margarita ( $5.00 special) I'm not a frozen drink kinda girl, but my friend had it and I'm willing to try almost anything once. Well, it didn't tickle my fancy. The bartender could tell it really wasn't my thing and asked if I wanted to try her Fresh Margarita on the rocks. Let's just say that margarita was everything. Overall, the experience was great! I'd definitely return.

Yelp
what can i say about this chili's that i haven't said before, honestly i don't know why i keep giving them chance after chance, maybe hoping for new management, new waiters, new hostess, honestly if you don't go just to drink at the bar don't bother, this restaurant will NEVER fail, to fail, this was probably the 2nd time i have had to walk out, because, you get sat down by someone who hates their job, wait for almost 30 min before even getting a drink, and even the managers who are walking around, do their absolute best to avoid saying hey has anyone come to help you? the whole staff needs to be fired, besides maybe the cooks, and the bartenders. if you hate your job, quit, trust me everyone is hiring.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
First the server took almost 10 min to greet the table then when we started to order we were refused our order. The reason behind not allowing us to order was because I couldn't eat off my husbands food that we couldn't share food. I have recently went through surgery that restricts how much I can eat so I always just nibble. However it is not allowed at Chilis so that if we're were going to eat there we would have to order two separate meals. So I guess they don't have to worry about my business anymore. I will never go back. This is discrimination for people with health and weight issues and will never support a business that has horrible morals.

Lee S.

Yelp
The food was more than delicious, and our server was very nice and helpful the entire time ( his name was Cedric ). This has got to be the best restaurant we've ever eaten at, definitely worth eating at!

Madison B.

Yelp
We had an amazing server his name was Cedric. Our food was phenomenal and it came out very fast. I totally recommend this location!! The dining room was very clean and relaxing!

Yelp
This is my friend Salad John's favorite Chili's. He loves this place. He always pays for me when we go together. He lives in Jackson Ward in the city right by the GINORMOUS Rite Aid and VCU campus. So the drive to Glen Allen is always a nice 20-45 minute catch-up session. Salad John is a great guy and it's so cool to see a Chili's make him so happy. Thank You, Chili's for making my friend so happy. It's also close to the Barnes & Noble and Ross's, etc. Great place to get a meal with a friend and get some shopping in.

Samya R.

Yelp
Very disappointed with my dinner this evening! It's even more disappointing that I've been calling for over an hour to complain to a manager but there has been no answer! I ordered Salmon with rice and loaded potatoes. The salmon was very dry, overcooked and dark on the backside! The rice was hard and undercooked and the mashed potatoes were old! I also ordered chicken quesadillas for my son and they were rubbery! Meals are now in the trash! You guys need to do much better! To go orders should be as fresh as they'd be if served inside the restaurant! Shame on you for giving us this garbage! In addition, although you may be busy there is no reason someone couldn't answer the phone! You want folks to patronize your company?? Well, it's YOUR responsibility to make sure every meal is fresh! No sauce on the salmon at all! Just DRY.. DRY..DRY!

Len B.

Yelp
The place is about 1/4 full, but there was a 20 minute wait for a table. Ordered sweet tea; received unsweetened tea. My daughter ordered water with lemon; no lemon. Ordered soup and salad. Ten minutes later: "We're out of all three soups." My 10-year-old granddaughter speculated that this is because it's so unbelievably cold in here that everyone is ordering soup. Ordered a Caribbean Salad. After everyone else's food was delivered, the waitress told me that it was taking so long because they were cutting a fresh pineapple. When it finally arrived, the pineapple chunks were slices of the inedible core of the pineapple. I finally talked to the manager.
google avatar

M K.

Yelp
Food is standard Chili's. How underpaying your staff costs you $$: We come here every week to charge the Tesla. This week there was a 30 min wait and the restaurant was half full. Went to Q Barbeque instead. Won't be back to Chilis.
google avatar

Trudy T.

Yelp
I got the fajitas. They weren't good. I don't think I'll be back. It was really a disappointment to me.
google avatar

Madelyn A.

Yelp
WOW!!! If there was a way to give this location 10 stars I would. We had a large party of 15 on Monday's day and our waiter (Justin) was beyond outstanding. He worked our table alone and kept everyone's drink refreshed WITHOUT anyone requesting, appetizers came out speed lightning and all our entrees were perfect. Thank you so much for making our Mother's Day extra special.
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
Another place where the customer is wrong. I ordered a burger medium rare... By any NORMAL restaurant's standard, meat ordered medium rare is pink and slightly warm in the center. What I got was barely pink and Hot in the center. In other words between medium and medium-well! The bartender asked me how it was cooked and I told her. She offered, to her credit, to have it recooked but I was starving and didn't have the time to wait for another burger.... So I proceeded) to eat it.... The manger comes over and says that he heard my burger wasn't cooked right. So I showed him... He says: "Oh! That's perfectly medium-rare 'by OUR standards!'" I said "Do I have stupid written on my forehead? I'm 62 years old. Do you honestly think that I don't know what a medium-rare hamburger is?" He said "Thats what OUR MEDIUM-RARE looks like!" Then he turned and walked away... Are you f-ing kidding me? First of all I have been eating at Chilis since before he was born. Rarely (no pun intended) did I not get my burger cooked correctly. Secondly, I had a burger cooked perfectly for me at a different Chilis just a couple of weeks ago. So this manager is full of crap so I warn you now.... Their temperature chart is their own. Even the bartender said "Next time we'll order rare and HOPE it comes out the way you like it! There won't be a next time. Sorry.....

Manuel Q.

Yelp
I did a delivery my order was around $100. and the food was the waste of the restaurant. A single spoonful of rice arrived and everything was incomplete, the worst service. I had to go and the attitude of the people is terrible and the manager is rude

Sunny M.

Yelp
I was told 30-45min I waited an hour and 10 min before asking no one had the decency of telling me they were not going to seat us. Like honestly what is this place running. Then I'm told no one was able to be seated yet they turn around and seat two other parties. Don't waist your time here.

Dunbar C.

Yelp
Tried to order on line on three different devices tonight, the transaction would not go through. Next we called twice to place the order and the hostess put us back on hold both times. She never came back. After twenty minutes of trying, we gave up. Being from Texas, the home of Chili's, I have had much better experiences than what I had tonight.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Wow. Uggh. The salad was good until the kid behind us didn't make it to the bathroom and "tossed his cookies" in the aisle. Nobody would clean it up, or cover it up, nor ask us if we wanted another seat. At least 10 minutes before someone did anything about the adolescent spewage. Didn't offer to comp any part of the meal. The steak was the toughest I've ever had, but the shared molten cake was great and my table mates were better. Ugggh

Yelp
Good food. The service was a tad slow and the waitress was very inattentive. Other than waiting too long and poor, poor service the food was great.

Really not understanding why this salad cost $12.99.. WTF is this, not eye appealing at all and need to be totally removed from the menu... Chili's really messed up with this plate of mess... Wanted to give it zero stars but couldn't.. Really!! The one star was for the waiter and manager trying to offer me a better dish but I happily and politely declined
