Much as I’d like to give Chilito’s Jamexican Food a three, the food here is genuinely delicious and relatively healthy, which earns it a higher rating. I usually order the bowl (rice, beans, plantains, ackee, salad, etc.), and it’s consistently flavorful—very much like a Jamaican take on Chipotle.
The main drawback is the wait time, which can be unpredictable. The kitchen manages dine-in, pickup, and delivery orders, which likely explains it. On one occasion, after a long wait, my “freshly made” bowl was served cold. However, credit where it’s due—the staff member (possibly a manager) demonstrated excellent emotional intelligence and customer service, addressed the issue immediately, and replaced it with a warm, freshly made bowl.
Overall, this is a great spot with quality food. The wait—anywhere from 10 to 20+ minutes—seems to be part of the experience. I’d recommend ordering online for pickup or dining in to avoid delays. Drinks are always solid, bartenders are friendly (though drinks can be a bit sweet at times).
Good food, solid value—just plan for the wait.
