7 Foods to Eat in Martinique and Where to Try Them - AFAR

"On Plage Diamant, this chic beachside bar and restaurant delivers an expertly made Ti punch—Martinique’s national drink of rhum agricole, lime, and sugarcane syrup—served upon request even when it’s not listed among specialty cocktails. Many locals are given the raw ingredients to mix their own, but here the house version is smoothly balanced and perfectly suited to sipping while watching the waves." - Rosalind Cummings-Yeates

This venue is ideal for enjoying a few drinks with a lovely view. The staff were pleasant, and service posed no issues, which made for a good start to the evening. My starter was genuinely delicious, and we were hopeful for a standout dining experience. Unfortunately, that expectation quickly faded. The quality of the food overall was disappointing. On a tropical island, you anticipate bold, vibrant, and flavorful cuisine—sadly, this fell far short. The jerk chicken lacked any authentic seasoning, the so-called triple or double-cooked chips were soggy, and the burger was forgettable, with a bun as thick as the meat itself. For the prices charged, a higher standard is not just expected—it's required. I've had more satisfying meals from casual local spots. In short, this is a great place to relax with a drink and take in the view. But if you're looking for a memorable meal or a lively atmosphere, you may want to look elsewhere. No music, no energy—just an all-around bland experience beyond the drinks.

I don't know why this restaurant is rated so low. We arrived around 6 PM and found comfortable seating with a beautiful view of the ocean. We enjoyed refreshing piña coladas as we relaxed, and when it was time to eat, we were seamlessly moved to our dining table. It was a great start and good food. Only recommendations would be to make the french fries crispy

The Chill is a nice and little bit up nosed bar. A great view, great swim and good food and drinks. Go there, if have a bit money to spend and like sitting by the beach and watching the waves.

We give our strongest recommendation to this place. It’s not only a restaurant or a bar - it’s a perfect place to spend the entire day at the beach - with all the facilities that Chill has to offer. You can notice from the entrance that the details of the decor are very consistent, which encourages you to spend some time in the nice surrounding. The staff is very polite and speaks English. The dishes were delicious and personalized to our needs. Drinks looked and tasted perfectly. The prices are the same as in the other places.

Great place to have a drink and a lunch on the go! The Caesar salad, their sweet potato fries and desserts (brioche façon pain perdu) were tested and approved 😋! Service is kind and available - the place is busy thanks to it’s fab setting and view so it can be a bit slower but honestly nothing to complain about! Recommended!

Large open-air bar with lounge seating with sea views and covered seating at tables. In my Caeser salad there were many obviously rotten dark brown lettuce leaves and the salad had obviously been in the dressing for a long time. Dressing itself was good. The crunchy chicken was very tasty. The octopus salad only tasted of onions (as if it had been marinated for a very long time until the onions got that special strong and biting flavour). Nobody asked if the food was ok when clearing up. Toilets were clean.

Very nice beach front dining, outside canopied seating. Palm trees, waves rolling in, soft lighting - very romantic. The service was friendly and prompt. A well stocked bar (except no bourbon!) but not much for wine selection. The food was excellent, good ingredients and expertly prepared. Prices are reasonable - you pay at the front on the way out so no waiting around for the check. Nice touch!

We tried to eat here on a random night and were turned away because we were told there was a private event happening. The vast majority of tables were empty in the restaurant and it was only one small area which appeared to have an event happening, but whatever. We were told to wait about half an hour. We still there waiting for half an hour, then eventually sat in a waiting area not a real table, and waited a further 15 minutes or so for a waitress to show up. While we were waiting, people who came in after us were seated at real tables and were served cocktails while we were still waiting. Eventually a waitress showed up and told us that we could not get any cocktails unless we moved over to the bar, and also that the entire menu was unavailable except for the appetizer section only. This is the same waitress who told us to wait for half an hour to be seated, we never would have waited around to be seated if we knew the menu would be unavailable! We ordered an appetizer sampler because we were very hungry at this point and decided to just stick with it. We received the appetizer sampler, which was overpriced but it was okay quality. The next day at the grocery store, we saw in the frozen section A box item which was the exact same set of appetizers packaged together, it was half the price we paid at the restaurant. So now I realize we waited almost an hour to sit and eat in a waiting area not even a real table, receive no cocktails, just to pay double price for a boxed item which we could have had at the grocery store and made at home in ten minutes. This was probably one of the most confusing experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. I think most of their business comes from the fact that it is the only restaurant on the street.
