The owner was kind enough to offer us two orders on the house rather than make us walk home to grab cash. That kind of generosity is rare and shows how much they care about their customers. We live right across the street, so of course we went home to grab cash and came back to pay—but I want people to know how genuine and kind the owner is. Chillest Shave Ice lives up to its name! Hands down the best shave ice I’ve ever had! I tried the mango, strawberry milk, and lilikoi, and every flavor was incredible. The syrups are made fresh daily by the owner, and you can really taste the difference. They weren’t overly sweet and actually had chunks of real fruit mixed in. It felt refreshing and natural instead of artificial. On top of that, the owners were so kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell they care about both their craft and their customers. If you’re looking for shave ice that’s next-level and made with love, this is the place to go.

**it is CASH ONLY** The consistency of this ice is so perfect. It is so soft and fluffy, but doesn’t melt too quickly. They know how to pour just the right amount of syrup so it’s saturated but not drowning. The free snow cap added a nice extra sweetness and creaminess- but I like that I only had it added to half. I enjoyed the strawberry and lilikoi flavors, while my husband LOVED the Japanese grape- he is a big grape flavor fan and said this was probably the best he’s tasted. There is a small parking lot in back. There is a QR code on the shop’s back entrance door to scan for one hour free parking. There’s only a couple tables and chairs inside since the place is pretty small, but they also have a bathroom. The staff was lovely- friendly, kind, and welcoming. Delicious, and priced fair. Have to agree with other reviewers. Best shave ice in town. The Homemade syrups are fantastic and staff is very friendly. Nice to have people greet you and thank you when you leave. This is my new go to shave ice spot.

First and foremost, the customer service is amazing! The couple who was there today along with the younger lady who topped off our treat with the finishing touches were warm, welcoming and full of ALOHA. The shave ice flavors were authentic and didn't taste overtly sweet like a lot if shave ice places do. We added the ice cream, snow cap and I also had the azuki beans (my favorite). The first spoonful brought me back to my childhood in Kona. The shaved ice was fluffy and melted in your mouth releasing all the flavors of the great syrups, guava, POG and haupia. I can't wait to come back and try all the flavors. The seating area was clean and bright. This place is definitely in my top three shave ice places of all time. We live in Vegas now, but come home every year, Chillest will be on our list of must stop places when we're back home in the islands guaranteed! The perfect shave ice in my humble opinion! Possibly the best shaved ice we have ever had! The consistency of the ice was so nice, almost ice cream consistency... just so light! We had their strawberry milk and guava and it was TOO. GOOD. They're BIG so definitely plan to share. Parking was a little rough on a Sunday late afternoon, and it was a 30 minute wait but worth it. Also, they're cash only so just keep that in mind when visiting!

Cash only and SUPER ONO shave ice! Ordered the strawberry milk + haupia + matcha combo which was super creamy, fluffy, flavorful and the perfect amount of sweet. Will definitely return as often as possible.

This is an overdue review from September after the Okinawan Festival. I went to the Okinawan Festival and was reading about some of the businesses that were offering specials for that week. Chillest Shave Ice was doing a Shikuwasa flavor that I wanted to try. The owner was sooo nice and helpful with offering recommendations to pair with the Shikuwasa. We ended up going with the Hojicha - the sour Shikuwasa and mellow Hojicha paired perfectly together. The syrups used in both of these were delicious, and I loved the ice texture! The portions here are huge and wish they offered a smaller size. There's parking in the back with the entrance on 8th Ave. It was a scan to pay with an hour free. It was pretty empty when I came close to closing on a weekday. There's also a few tables inside to enjoy your shave ice. This is definitely in my top shave ice spots on the island, and I would highly recommend coming here for a sweet treat.

This place is a MUST try if you love shaved ice! We decided to try this place before we left Honolulu and honestly we really wish that we found it. They one of our travels because it was so delicious! Parking is a little bit hard to find, but it is located not too far from Waikiki and the shop is very clean and The owners are very friendly. There are some seating inside where you can enjoy the shaved ice right away! There were so many fun and unique flavors that we could choose from we decided to go to the three flavors of guava, kinako, And Japanese grape. We also got the Azuki toppings and the mochi. I am not exaggerating when I say that the portion was very big but was honestly the lightest shaved ice I've had in a really long time. The mochi was also handmade and so delicious and they gave us a lot of mochi. It is honestly probably the best shaved ice on the island and I will definitely be coming back the next time I visit Hawaii again !!

Ambiance The ambiance is simple but it has a chill vibe. (Ahah what a kneeslapper) Service For starters, the place is cash only, which isn't a problem but bring cash if you're going. The staff were really nice. The line however was long. Food The shave ice was refreshing ,soft, and delicious! I got the lychee and ramune shave ice. I loved it, especially the lychee one. 8.5/10

This shave ice spot is so good. Tried the strawberry milk flavor with li hing mui and it was the perfect combo -- sweet, creamy, and just the right amount of tart. The ice was super fine and melted perfectly. Such a refreshing treat and easily one of my favorite shave ice spots. Highly recommend!

Softest ice on the island When I say soft, I mean like smoothest cream that melts instantly with no chunks or crystals. The flavors are spot on and not like artificial syrup taste. Cute and clean shop. Parking might be a little hard but it's worth it. Environment 5/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Price 5/5

The home made syrup was so good, this is top 3 shave ice on the island! Service was great, seating is a little tight so eat you shave ice and make room for others. Will be coming back to try more flavors! The ice was light and not over compacted, fluffy texture! 10/10

This place is FANTASTIC! I was pleasantly surprised while eating here! The shave ice is HUGE and they have a good amount of flavors and add-ons which makes this place a hit! It's a small space however it's really clean looking. The spot feels very homey even thought it's tight quarters. The people that work here are unbelievably friendly and gracious and I was so pleased with everything this place had to offer! The downsides are is that parking is limited but you can attempt to find parking elsewhere. Also this place is cash only and they only offer 1 size of shave ice. With that being said to me it doesn't really matter because of how good the shave ice is and the friendly service. If you find yourself in the area and are looking for a nice cool down or treat, this place has the lightest and most delicious shave ice around!

Kaimukī nostalgia and charm kicked in with the humidity, uneven sidewalks, and no signage. Spocked the lavender bench. Found free, street parking three blocks away on Waialae Ave. My intuition told me take this available parking stall now which I did. As I walked to my right, all street parking were occupied, including back parking lot. The Owners were very pleasant and courteous. I was surprised at the total cost of $8 for a gigantic Kinako Latte and Hojicha shave ice. They were kind enough to offer a third flavor for the same price. Very tempted to get Matcha; however, my palate preferred to enjoy uncommon flavors as much as possible. Will be charged for the highest priced homemade, in house syrup. Quality, quantity and value are worth the price! Cash all the way. Two huge tables were occupied with customers enjoying their shave ice too. I felt uncomfortable sitting outside on lavender bench facing winds on Waialae Ave. I felt comfortable and secure facing my back to the wall, standing, in back parking lot, while consuming smooth shave ice. I love and gravitate toward unique, flavorful, homemade, in house syrups. There were two guys nearby discussing acquired business. When I was done, two men were blocking the entrance/exit. I had to say, "Excuse me." They asked me, "We notice you're eating shave ice. Is this a shave ice business?" I said, "Yes. Chillest Shave Ice! Very smooth. They've got unique flavors. Try it!" They honestly thought it was a hair salon until they peered in the window and thanked me. Likewise, said my regards, thanked the staff, wished them a wonderful weekend, and went on my merry way. Highly recommend for all to try! Will definitely return for either three flavors of $6 or $7 shave ice and mochi topping!

I tried Chillest while they had a set up at Fishcake in Kaka'ako, and it's awesome to see that they have a storefront now! The first time I had Chillest, it was at Fishcake, and I got matcha, hojicha, and haupia. That was really good - the ice is fine and fluffy, the syrups are strong in flavor and not too sweet, and - this is very important to me lol - the syrup covered all the ice. No barren shave ice! The portion was really big and the price is reasonable. More recently, I visited their new storefront in Kaimukī and got hojicha, Japanese grape, and Mandarin orange. It might seem like a weird combo choice, and that's because it was - I was sharing with a friend and we were compromising what flavors to choose lol. The hojicha tasted sweeter than I remember it being, with less of a strong tea flavor, which was a little bit disappointing. the mandarin orange and Japanese grape were pretty good, but not my favorite - the grape one tasted a liiittle bit artificial. Unfortunately, there was some shave ice in the middle that had no syrup on it, but the staff were willing to give us more! Ambiance is casual, with plenty tables and chairs for customers to sit - which is needed, because it was pretty busy when I visited! Parking is in the back of the building (entrance to the lot is on 8th Ave) but the lot is shared by other small businesses, including The Curb, so you might need to snag street parking either on Waialae Ave or on the smaller residential streets. One more thing to note is that they are cash only (at least as of July 2025). Overall, I like them and am curious to try their other flavors!

Chillest Shave Ice is a nice addition to the Kaimuki area. They are located in the same building as The Curb Kaimuki. Parking is also in the same lot and you need to scan their QR code for 1 hour of free parking. If the lot is full, you can look for free parking in the residential area of Palolo or street metered parking on Waialae Ave. You can enter off of Waialae Ave or through a single green door from the parking area. On the green door has the QR code you scan for parking. I actually had a hard time finding them and walked around the building to enter off their Waialae entrance when I literally parked right in front of their other entrance lol. Their menu is simple and the place is cozy. It's very welcoming when you actually find the place. Currently they are cash only and you have the choice of $6 Classic Flavors, $7 House Flavors, $8 House Flavors and $1 Toppings. Paul C raved about the Japanese Grape so I had to try it. When I got there, the inside eating area was full and all the outdoor seating was full. The Curb Kaimuki was closed so that was impressive how popular they are. This place was busy and it was a weekday! They also have their own restroom near the door to the parking lot but it's currently out of order. I was fortunate that there was no line when I arrived so I was able to order right away after I ran back to my car for cash. With Paul C's recommendation, I ordered Japanese Grape as one of the three flavors I could select. The other two flavors I ordered were Vanilla and Strawberry. They didn't take long to make my order and it was massive! There was no way I could eat it all myself and Mink was on another diet. Paul C was right that the Japanese Grape was legit. The shave ice is super soft. This satisfied my shave ice serving for the year so I'm good till 2026. Worth the effort to come here myself to give them a try.

I thought I had some pretty good shave ice when in Hawaii, but Chillest takes the cake by far. The ice is super fluffy, they have unique flavors (hojicha!), they make some flavors in house and the portion is huge. My new favorite spot and I can't wait to go back to try other flavors. Stop by if you can, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I enjoyed what we ordered, it comes as a big shave ice - we liked the flavors chosen and liked how it didn't taste artificial compared to other shave ice places we have tried. Would definitely come back and try other flavors. There is a small parking lot, we parked on the street and were able to sit outside in the lot to enjoy our shave ice. Staff is friendly, welcoming.

CAME BACK! Okay, so today I got the limited time shikuwasa (citrus type fruit famous in okinawa) flavor and the calpico flavor. Had seats this time luckily, so sat inside. Service was excellent. Shave ice was brought to our table. I didn't realize that you can get up to 3 flavors! Without any extra charge of course. Next time I'll get 3 so I can try more flavors. Today there was a CASH ONLY sign. Not sure when credit cards will be accepted so bring some cash. Check em out!

I just could not wait to leave a review as I'm still seated at chillest on a hot Hawaiian summer day. Tucked away at the corner of Waialae and 8th Avenue is the "chillest" shave ice spot on the island today. Parking at the back of the building which I believe is accessible through 8th avenue. The place is slightly smaller than I would've anticipated, seating maybe only 16 or so people at once, but turnover is fast. We decided to stop by after hearing from a close friend that this is his new favorite shave ice spot and this did not disappoint. Topped with Japanese grape, mango, and pog flavors... Our shave ice was the incredibly perfect fruity combo poured over the mountain of snow. The actual shave ice is incredibly soft, probably the best I've ever had in my entire life. We will be bringing all our family friends here going forward, just a wonderful place to relax for a bit and have something nice to cool down.

Writing an update only three days later because we had to come back since it was so good. The staff are so nice and I wish I could give them a tip but they don't accept tips. We got to try the mochi today and they give 8 pieces for only $1! The mochi is a bit firmer than other places but still had a nice chew. After trying many shave ice places all around the island this is by far the best one. Always the perfect amount of syrup and the ice is so soft and fluffy. No bathroom here so keep that in mind. This is a must try, you won't be disappointed!!

Super quiet little dessert shop found in Honolulu. Ran by a husband and wife couple. Order the large size shaped ice of three flowers of chemical latte Japanese grape and guava with mochi my opinion this was the best shaved ice that I've had in a very long time melded well with each other and individually they taste great as well highly recommend this place to anyone that's wants a sweet dessert not too sweet.

07/29/25 2nd time there.. this time with my grandsons. They had strawberry, mango and ramune. Delicious. They finished it off Wow! Fluffy shaved ice and lots of original flavors. The shaved ice is so big that we had the kids share... so much to go around. Lots of options, ice cream, mochi and up to 3 flavors. It is cash only and the price is so reasonable. There is an entrance from the parking lot so you don't have to walk all the way around. Nice friendly service, no tipping b Gotta give it a try!

After all the great reviews from fellow Yelpers, it was my turn to check this shave ice spot out. it's located on the mauka side of Waialae Ave, across the street from Veterinary Urgent Care, next to The Curb. There's a small lot behind the shop with entrance on 8th Ave. It's pretty small and I think it's a paid lot but a person there said no need at the hour we arrived. Scan the QR inside the shop to get parking free. Inside there's some seating as well as outside by the lot. So it's one size with a choice of different flavors- classic ($6) such as banana, melona, strawberry; House flavors for $7/$8- haupia, POG.... Snow Cap (condensed milk) is free. Prices are good for what you get. The ice? OMG!! It was soooo fine and soft and pillowy! And it was HUGE! Def shareable. Will be coming back to try the other flavors. Cash only BTW.

***4.5 STARS*** While our foodie group was finishing lunch, the subject of dessert came up and Auntie (aka Nadine C.) blurted out Chillest Shave Ice (CSI). I originally wanted ice cream but the business opens at 12pm and it was still 11:20am. Not wanting to wait, we all agreed on CSI. Located in Kaimuki on the corner of Waialae Ave and 8th Ave, this is the storefront that opened back in May after operating at Fishcake in Kakaako, Ten Tomorrow and craft fairs. Parking was tricky but shout out to Peter Y. who allowed us to park at his office which is a block away. To our delight, CSI was full as we arrived before noon. Initially there was only one staff serving eager patrons. He did all: took the order, collected payment and made the shave ice. It took some time for the guy to make all of our 6 shave ice to serve our group and halfway through, 2 girls came in to assist him. After snapping a few photos it was finally time to dig in. THE VERDICT: I was impressed with the fine quality of the ice and the portion is massive. You can select up to 3 flavors but I chose the Japanese grape and mango with snow cap topping. Hands down the Japanese grape was my winner. But had a bold, refined grape flavor. Amazing. The mango on the other hand, was subtle and got lost. I opted to eat all the mango first to minimize the disappointment and halfway through I saw white ice - - the mango syrup didn't sink in fully. Auntie suggested I tell the staff who poured more syrup in my bowl. I cherished the remaining Japanese grape and was sad as I took the last spoonful. I'd order the Japanese grape again in a heartbeat. It was that delicious. CSI was packed when we left. There's only one person making the shave ice so you need to be patient. It was disturbing to see two young kids continuously kick the counter while waiting for their shave ice to be made. It was not pleasant to hear that while eating and no one, staff nor their parents, disciplined them. Cash only and no tips accepted. Prices range from $6. Customize your shave ice with a selection of syrups and various topping options. What a great addition for a cool treat in the Honolulu area. I tried to bring my buddies here for dessert one evening after dinner but sadly they are only open until 6pm with the exception of Tuesdays (9pm) and Wednesdays (closed). Worthy of a drive to Kaimuki. Support local and support small businesses.

Cash only! Nicest people work there. They make their own syrups (I beljeve), and the cost of your shave ice is based on which syrups you choose. You get to choose up to 3 flavors. The amount looks big when you first see it, but the syrups and snow cap make it smaller. And it's not dense; it's very light so it's not as intimidating as it seems. Four of us shared one, and it disappeared quickly. We got POG, strawberry milk, and orange cream flavors with snow cap. They worked well together and were all super tasty. The ice texture reminds me of Taiwanese shave ice, which I love. Definitely recommend! Inside is pretty small with only a couple of tables and some bar seats. Outside has two more tables or a bench, and they have a code on their door you can scan for free parking. Parking lot is small though!

New trendy spot on Waialae Ave called Chillest Shave Ice . Thanks to Nadine .C for the recommendation as you can see how huge their shave ice . I ordered their Blue Vanilla, Strawberry and Coffee. I wanted Banana but they ran out so got the Coffee flavor instead . Free parking in the back of the building of Finance factors 8th Ave and Waialae. At first it was very hard to locate because they don't have a signage yet in front the their establishment. Although on the glass door they have a sign. Limited tables available and their very crowded although good for business. I'll be back in the future but definitely not on a holiday like today didn't realized until seen the crowd . food - i love the quality of this shave ice! everything from how soft the ice is and the homemade syrups is perfect! price is also extremely reasonable. i got the strawberry milk, mango and haupia flavors and payed $8 total (free condensed milk is a huge plus too!!) service - quick and easy! ambiance - this shop is on the smaller side, but shave ice doesn't take too long to eat so it was easy to grab a seat pretty quickly. there is ample parking along the street and in the lot in the back, where the first hour is free

I was excited to read that there was a new shave ice place on Waialae, but bewildered when I drove past and couldn't find it. No wonder! Due to permitting difficulties they do not yet have a sign! Luckily my friend located it with her GPS and a picture of the green door from the parking lot that another reviewer posted. Parking is located around the corner from the Curb and Breadshop. This cozy little shave ice place opened 2 weeks ago just in time for the summer heat! Unlike some shave ice places where it can be complicated to figure out how to order, Chillest is pretty simple and straightforward all around. There are 3 different prices based on the flavors, I.e., classic flavors $6, house flavors (including tropical, milk and coffee and not hot hot chocolate) $7 and house flavors ( Japanese) $8. You can choose up to 3 and pay the price of your most expensive flavor. Due to my lactose intolerance, I avoided the milk and cream flavors. I was very happy with my Haupia, Matcha, and Hojicha combo which the proprietor Aaron approved of. The flavors were very authentic and not too sweet. The ice, shaved with a Taiwanese blade, was just the right texture, soft and fine! My friend got Vanilla Cream, Coffee, and Kinako Latte which were also good. Apparently they use a specially selected Kinako which they brought in from Japan. Aaron said the most popular flavor is Strawberry Milk. What sets this place apart from all the other shave ice places around town, is the Japanese flavors and its no fuss simplicity. There's only one size. Looks big but the ice just melts in your mouth. They have your basic toppings of mochi, azuki and snow cap (condensed milk). Nothing fancy, just really good Japanese Local style shave ice! Great customer service. Make sure you take cash. Will definitely recommend to friends and family!

I was debating what star rating to give this new shop. Let me say thank you to Nadine C for giving us directions to find this venue. There is no signage on the street entrance. Craig T dropped us off in the parking lot in back and went to find parking since the lot was full. There's a door to enter from the parking lot. Ok let's start with the size of the Shave Ice. It was humongous. What you get for the price is worth the waiting. The owner was the only one there. Two girls came in after we got order. I had the basic pineapple and my wife had the strawberry syrup. The ice was fluffy and tasted good. I would try another flavor the next time. There is table seating for eight and counter seating for another four .Thank you Nadine for the treat and Craig for being our chauffeur. Enjoy

"Chillest" is a great way to describe this local shave ice company! Owner operator Aaron Wong and family has been operating this shave ice company as a pop-up at Kaka'ako's Fishcake on Saturdays for a number of years. Prior to that, it was called Ailana Shave Ice, with locations on Kona St and Waikiki, which I remember having a smooth and fluffy shave ice at its Kona St location. Aaron and family opened Chillest on 5/17/25 in its permanent brick-and-mortar location in Kaimuki. According to Aaron, he distinguishes Chillest from other shave ice stores by his nostalgic memories of eating shave ice as a kid: * Shaping his shave ice like a mountain without a peak, instead of the typical packed ball. * Not packing it in, but instead making it light and fluffy so that the syrups permeate the ice. * Ensuring that the ice texture is super fine. Aaron also makes his own syrups as much as possible by using real fruits, e.g., strawberries, mango, papaya, coconut milk, and matcha from Japan. The shave ice comes in one size only, is shareable, and up to three flavors can be chosen. The flavors are categorized by price: $6 is for traditional syrups, $7 for house flavors that are more natural (strawberry milk is its signature flavor), and $8 for unique house flavors. I chose a classic shave ice with flavors of vanilla cream, Japanese grape, and orange cream. We enjoyed this combination. The Japanese grape was not overly sweet, and the two cream flavors took it to a higher level, like a creamsicle flavor. Yum! Generous amount for the price that hubby and I shared this shave ice. So reasonable in price as compared to other shave ice places. The towering shave ice held its shape and did not fall out of the bowl. Customer service was excellent! Aaron was the operator of the shave ice machine, assisted by his daughter, Erin. With smiles, they efficiently made our shave ice and patiently answered all my questions about which flavors go with what flavors before other customers started coming in. Nice interior to dine in, as it's clean and bright! Flavors and prices were clearly displayed on the wall. There is a counter alongside its front window that you can watch cars commuting on Waialae Ave. Or sit at its two tables to enjoy your shave ice! And there's a restroom by the back entrance. Cash only. Hours of operation are daily from 11a to 6p. Chillest is located next to the Curb Kaimuki in the former Color Lounge hair salon at the corner of Waialae and 8th Aves. Free parking is available in a private lot in the back of the store that is shared with other businesses in the complex. From the parking lot, look for a green door for the back entrance of Chillest, and they are in the process of putting up appropriate signage. Good view of the kitchen of Bread Shop next door. I had visited Aaron about 2 years ago when he was at Fishcake in Kaka'ako... it was a challenging location because of the limited parking and the shared space. When I saw Irene M.'s review, I was so happy for Aaron! I drove over as soon as I could and parked in the shared lot behind The Curb and Finance Factors... Enter from 8th Avenue. Look for the light green door from the parking lot and enjoy the peaceful, fresh, clean, bright, air-conditioned environment with indoor seating! Service with a smile and "plenty Aloha" is so generous and kind! The two workers are friendly and efficient! For just $6 cash, we got a gigantic shave ice with 3 flavors: melona, strawberry, and pineapple! The texture is very fluffy and fine. It's delicious overall and very refreshing! The entire experience brightened my stressful day! Thank you so much, Chillest Shave Ice, for bringing happiness back to me! I'll be back!!!

Chill out... Hot and New place in Kaimuki is finally here and it's SO cool! As I found a seat at the counter overlooking the traffic going by Waialae Ave I noticed many almost walked right by as they don't have a sign yet but when you know you know. Taking the former Color Lounge spot right next to The Curb so you already know the easy parking in the back where you can access the shop as well makes it extra sweet. The flavor choices are quite impressive and very familiar for us locals with Calpico, P.O.G and Lilikoi just to name a few and as I wait in line and trying to decide it hit me as why not go with one of my go to drink at Daily Whisk Matcha (which is where they get their matcha from) Matcha and Strawberry Milk as they all somehow pool together at one point I might as well create a drink in the end as we sip it all lol! I couldn't be more happy for their new brick and mortar store though they're still in their soft opening phase it seems many already know as the shop was completely filled knowing that it's the spot for the coolest treat filled with the friendliest family owned and run biz Keeping it in Kaimuki. The first time I had Chillest Shave Ice was when they were on da rooftop at Island Boy shop. A shave ice like nothing I've tasted before, I was blown away. From the texture to the house flavors, hands down is something you will reminisce over until you have it again! It is def on the top of my list for shave ice. Thanks to my Yelp elite friends for posting this hot and new biz! Of course the fluffy shave ice photos caught my attention! After a beach day, I decided to bring my family here. It is our tradition to get shave ice after the beach, so the kids are already looking forward to it. I told them that we would try somewhere new. Parking is located in the back of the store on 8th Avenue. It is paid parking, but just scan the QR code on the back door for 1 hour of complementary parking. There are 2 tables that seat 4 and 1 bar top overlooking Waialae Ave. It is a smaller space. When we went it was packed with people. They were sold out of some flavors, but there were still lots to choose from. Staff were super super friendly. It did take a little while for them to make the shave ice since there is only one machine. However, the wait was worth it. The shave ice is a fluffy cloud! The house made syrups were the best. The kids got the regular syrup and it was sweet. I enjoyed the house made ones much more because the flavor was more muted and real. I cannot wait to go back to try other flavors! As of now, it is cash only, so be prepared. One size only, so it is worth it to share!

This is the best shave ice place. I'm so glad it's in Kaimuki because kaimuki is great, chillest just makes it that much greater. The line was long when we went on a Saturday afternoon. There is a small parking lot in the back and a back door to enter the place from the parking lot, but you might have to find street parking and look through the windows for the right store since I couldn't see a sign. I love that they're open relatively late and that the workers are so nice. They don't even accept tips. Like what? But it just makes me want to come back everyday to give them business. The menu is easy. There is only one size--big enough to share. You choose 3 flavors and the price is $6-$8 depending on what flavors you choose. Condensed milk is free. I tried the guava, mango and the Japanese citrus I can't remember the name of. All three flavors were great. Not too sweet, not too sour. Just perfect! They have a couple tables and a bar counter that looks out over Waialae Ave. it was pretty hot inside, but there is a bench outside on Waialae and some tables and chairs outside in the parking lot. I'm glad they were so busy because I hope this place lasts. I'll definitely be back to try other flavors like matcha, all the cream flavors and strawberry milk!! Yum! Can't wait!

Light, fluffy, and sweet. Ordered a shave ice with ice cream flavored with strawberry milk and vanilla cream. The shave ice is huge! It only comes in one size...perfect for me but most likely shared. The ice was very fine and lightly packed. The flavors are awesome and I'll have to come back to try their other housemade ones.

Far and away my new favorite shave ice spot on island. Yes, i know, ive said this a bunch in the past, but this one truly is the best. I discovered them a few months back when they still had their pop up at Fishcake. As soon as I heard their brck and mortar location opened (they're stil having some sgn permitting issues so the place is a little hard to find as there's no sign out front) I knew we had to go. Their shave ice only comes in one size (huge) and starts at $6 for the "classic" flavors. Then they have their "house" flavors which go from $7-8. You can choose up to three flavors and the price of your shave ice is based off the highest priced syrup.So if you're like me and chose 2 classic flavors (Japanese Grape, and Melona) and one $7 House flavor (No So Hot Chocolate) the whole thing is $7. Snow cap is free and they can do ice cream for a $1. They also have azuki beans, but were out the day we went. Shave Ice super fine and light. Syrups are amazingly balanced and delicious. And added bonus: The owners and the workers there are all super friendly and helpful if, you're like me, make some bad choices in flavor combinations, ha. Store itself is super clean and cozy. I know they only opened a month ago and I saw some framed pictures in a corner so im assuming they're still decorating and what not, but whatever. Shave ice is great, Staff is even better. What more could you ask for?

Small shop with no signage but around a few Kaimuki landmarks to help locate it. It's in the same building as the Curb and the Breadshop. Front entrance faces the Kaimuki Veterinary Urgent Care. The back door is the little green door tucked in to the left of the Curb's back door. Small parking lot in the back, too. Being small, it's amazing how many flavors are offered. The day we went, there were about 25 flavors...some quite unique like kinako latte, not hot chocolate,chojicha, calpico. Flavors are at three price points, but you pay for only the most expensive of the 3 syrups you choose. Additions to the shave ice are limited to ice cream, but you can tell them how many scoops you would like ($1 per each addition). Bonus is the ice cap addition is free! One order, with up to 3 flavors, is huge and easily shareable between two people. The ice is light and fluffy, with the syrups having an authentically natural flavors As people learn about this place, they will have to step it up. When crowded, the wait can be awhile. They only have one machine to shave the ice, and with them giving such a huge serving, it takes some time to get that amount of ice. Additionally, with it being a small space, there's only 12 seats and gets even more crowded with people in line or waiting for their order. But, the staff is friendly, working hard, and apologetic for any wait. For the full offering of flavors, highly suggest going earlier in the day. Some of their flavors are limited. While we were there, they ran out of melona, and they seemed to be rationing the kinako latte as that was the final bottle as they were waiting for the next kinako shipment. Our matcha and chocolate syrups were well poured to get throughout the shave ice mound. However, the kinko was poured very lightly. Only the surface had flavor, but under it was plain ice. Despite this, I'm definitely returning to try other flavors, but hopefully at a time that's not so busy. Something to note: CASH ONLY.

A million times yes if anyone asks me if I want to go here LOL. Congrats on the opening of their new space! What a perfect addition to the bustling neighborhood of Kaimuki!! So happy they are here now! The hojicha/lilikoi was delicious as always. All of their syrups are just to die for. They are also super sweet and nice. Everyone needs to go here. Their style of shave ice is EXACTLY to my taste. Light and fluffy and the syrups are not heavy at all - super refreshing especially because it's been getting hotter since summer is upon us! As of today 5/20/25 it is CASH ONLY.

There is only one size which a is a very generous portion! Aaron makes his own syrup flavors and they taste amazing! He also makes the mochi balls- also the best on Oahu for mochi on shave ice! Some of my favorite flavors include strawberry milk, matcha, hojicha, mandarin orange, banana cream! Prices are based on the syrups- $6 classic, $7 house, $8 house. Toppings are $1 each except condensed milk is free. There is parking in the back- shared with breadshop, the curb, and finance factors.

My husband and I have been repeat customers here. It's always a nice way to end our day. Parking behind is free for the first hour, just scan the QR code on the door before entering. Also, cash only! :) The workers are so friendly and nice. There's only one person who makes the ice part, but it's sooo worth the wait! The shaved ice is just so pillowy soft. I also like that inside is a nice temperature so while you're eating you're not freezing. The menu of flavors is amazing! They have your OG favorites if you're not feeling too adventurous. I think we tried almost all of them, but our favorite is the strawberry milk. PLUS snow cap is FREE?! What?! That's a must add on!

The service at Chillest is next level, everyone makes you feel like family and treats you so well. I would highly recommend anyone coming here for the best shaved ice on the island!

I really hate writing this review. I've put it off for a while now, on purpose... You may read this, but you must promise not to go here. I want it all to myself...all of it. I've eaten a lot of shave ice, and this might be the best shave ice on the island...period. Popping up at Fishcake on Saturdays and Island Boy on Sundays, this customer oriented company provides a beautiful bowl of bliss that is instantly addictive. The flavor of the syrups, the texture of the shave ice, the customer service, and the value cant be beat. A perfect two-person operation, this dynamic duo provide superb shave ice in one very large bowl. It is possible for one person to eat it...but it wouldn't hurt to go on an empty stomach. I have been here many times and have started planning my weekends around their business hours and locations. And I'm not embarrassed because it's just delicious. Ok, so here is what I have had.. My Award Half strawberry milk / Half not so hot chocolate -both flavors are amazing on their own, but at the end, when everything is melted...the liquid tastes like a chocolate dipped strawberry....yes...I know. My Wife's Award Half Hojicha / Half Haupia / Ice cream underneath / homemade mochi balls -she doesnt deviate...she gets this everytime. -I am only allowed two bites, and one sip at the end. -if you happen to go on the weekend, ice cream I believe is only available at the Island Boy location Old School Award Strawberry and Grape -this is a very nostalgic shave ice with nice, intense flavors. -definitely for someone who is a shave ice purist. Surprise Award Mandarin Orange and Mango -when it came out, it looked like one flavor...because it was almost all the same color -the two flavors were so vibrant and bright, there was no mistaking what each flavor was. -the mango almost felt and tasted like puree...so ono! -the melted 'juice' at the end was divine I am not sure if I will put anything in my mouth again other than Chillest Shave Ice...so...please dont go.

Did I wait 40 min for my shave ice? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely. This place is perfect if you want to share shave ice bc the portion is HUGE! Similar to Shimazu's. Love all the locally made flavors that have the perfect amount of sweetness. It's so fresh and hits the spot. And condensed milk is free!!! Probably around 4 pm on a weekend is the busiest time to come so be prepared for a wait and a crowded parking lot. Cash only! Definitely worth a try and will be coming back for more.

The best ever!!!! Strawberry milk!!! It's so fluffy!!!! Doesn't melt quickly like the others. Love the unique flavors they offer. Owners are so nice! Get it with ice cream, it's the only way.

After a hot day at the beach I decided to check this place out since I've seen it on insta a few times. It was pretty easy to find! There's a small parking lot in the back behind Finance Factors and we entered through a bright green door. FYI THEY ARE CASH ONLY! They have a couple tables and about four high chairs and a bench out front. They have one size only and depending on the flavor you want is how much you will pay. You can choose up to three flavors and snow cap here, is free!!! My boyfriend and I ordered the Matcha, Hojicha, Haupia with ice cream and snow cap. The flavors were so good and the ice was so soft! The Hojicha is such a unique option so for a hojicha lover I am so stoked to have finally tried this place and I can't wait to be back for my next shave ice craving!

Came here as my son wanted shave ice and it was close by our place. Parking was a little bit tough as there was some kaimuki event at the nearby Aliiolani school, so ended up parking in my friends parents driveway and walked a block away. Front entrance was closed so had to go to the back entrance from.the parking lot. They only accept cash, which I dont mind as I always have cash on me and never have ice cream, but was pleasantly surprised at the price $5 for a small, which was large to me, wonder how the large looks. They only had small sizes anyways. Shave ice was soft and flavors were pretty good. Not at good as Your Kitchen homemade flavors (sorry they moved to Japan) but great value for the price and will definitely be back. Hopefully never time they have ice cream. If not still a great value on a hot day.

Small and cozy shop tucked away in Kaimuki. Entrance off of Waialae, facing Kaimuki Veterinary (next door to Color Lounge); or an entrance in the back parking lot off of 8th. CASH ONLY, but fairly priced. We got two shaved ices, $14. Mangoes were said to be donated local fruit for syrup Quick turnaround, and busy!

This is the best shaved I've ever tasted. Chillest has my HIGHEST recommendation. We didn't have cash and they insisted on providing us service regardless. So sweet and thoughtful, would come back every time with friends and family when I visit Hawaii!

Yum yum yum! The sweetest people working here maybe a family business? They really make sure EVERY shave ice is made to perfection. Extremely generous portions for the price!!! I think our huge shave ice was only $8!!! Come on!!!! Oh my heavens the strawberry milk tea, the japanese grape abs the haupia?!!! IT'S SO AMAZING!!! So fresh tasting!!!

If I could give this place more stars I would. BEST SHAVED ICE ON ISLAND me and my bestie shared one and to be honest I could've gotten my own. We got mango, strawberry milk, and cotton candy AND ICE CREAM OF COURSE (there's free snow cap). Holy moly all the flavors were so delicious. Cute cute cute mom and pop shop and the owners were so welcoming and wonderful. Support local ALWAYS. Will only be coming here for shaved ice and will be recommending to everyone I know and their mothers.
