In addition to standard offerings like bean and cheese; barbacoa; and egg and chorizo; more creative taco combinations abound, like the migas taco, made with eggs, onion, jalapenos, tomatoes, and crushed tortilla chips, or the chilaquiles taco that’s filled with fried tortillas, potato, egg, beans, and salsa." - Brittany Britto Garley

Google
Chilosos Taco House is hands down one of the best places to enjoy authentic and delicious tacos! The entire staff deserves a shout-out for their exceptional service and warm hospitality. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and made to feel right at home. The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring our drinks were always filled and our food arrived promptly. The tacos were bursting with flavor, and you could tell they were made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The vibrant and friendly atmosphere made our dining experience even better. Kudos to the whole team at Chilosos Taco House – you all made our visit unforgettable! Five stars without a doubt!

Google
Chilosos Taco House in the Heights is a gem I discovered while showing homes in the area. I had the Migas Plate with a Mexican Coke and a barbacoa taco, and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has great vibes and the service was top-notch. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. I can't wait to come back and try more of their dishes. If you're in the Heights and looking for a fantastic place to eat, Chilosos Taco House should definitely be on your list!

STEALING IS NEVER OKAY! FAMILY OR NOT! I’m extremely disappointed and saddened by my experience here. I truly enjoyed the food, but that was completely overshadowed by what happened afterward. One of the staff members stole my sister’s personal information out of my wallet. When I brought this to the attention of the restaurant, they told me it was a family-run business and assured me they would get to the bottom of it. However, when I followed up a week later, I was told there was nothing they could do because they were transitioning to a new manager. No apology, no resolution—just excuses. It felt like they were more interested in protecting their own than in addressing the situation seriously. What’s worse is that my wallet was emptied and just left behind. The lack of accountability and basic human decency was shocking. I’ve never experienced the stress and violation of being robbed, and certainly never expected it from a place I trusted in this community. All I wanted was honesty and a sincere apology. Instead, I was met with silence and deflection. I will never return, and I sincerely hope no one else has to go through what I did.

Google
Great food, horrible staff and an even worse atmosphere. I accidentally left my wallet at this restaurant, and instead of turning it in untouched, someone on staff went through it and stole $115, 26¢ in change, and even took two very personal photos. When I contacted the restaurant, I was told it’s a family-run business and that they were going to get to the bottom of it. That gave me some hope. But when I followed up a week later, their entire tone changed. Suddenly, they claimed there was nothing they could do and insisted that no one they knew would have taken anything. No apology. No responsibility. Just deflection. What’s worse is that they made me feel like it was my fault. For a business that prides itself on being family-run, they showed absolutely no remorse and clearly chose to protect their own instead of doing the right thing. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I left feeling robbed, disrespected, and completely disregarded. 0/10 – Would not recommend. I will never return.

Google
Big tacos, a regular adults will fill up with just 2! I had the barbacoa taco and my wife had the pork en salsa verde. They both tasted really good. If only they had better salsas it would be great.

Trey Oursler

Google
A top breakfast taco place based on portion and quality. Tacos are soft and pleasant to eat, bacon is always thick and cooked. Chorizo is decent as well.

Sam Davila

Google
Parking: limited Order taking: At the door when you walk in. They give you a number. Service: Absolutely first class. Food: Delicious! Carne guisada was full of flavor. Overall, this establishment has it down to science. Well done folks. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I got take out from this place not too long ago. I was famished & ordered 2 tacos: fajita, refried beans w pico & a bean & cheese. I picked up my bag & thought well these are heavy..... Back at my desk, I greedlily unwrapped my first taco & the freakin thing is almost as big as a burrito! The refried beans were creamy, the fajita meat was plentiful & delicious. The tacos came with salsas & the green is definitely my favorite, just the right amount of kick without setting your mouth on fire. Prices (to me) are cheap so these tacos definitely exceeded my expectations!

Yelp
Great little Mexican restaurant. The Heights area has Such awesome places to go and eat. I was on my way to a showing when my Business partner said she was super hungry. I happen look ahead and saw Chilosos Taco House. I said this place must be off the chain because look how busy it is and it's only 11am????? I was correct. I got us beef Quesadillas to go and wow. They were so good. The cheese and real flour tortillas. Yummy. Service was amazing. You do Order at the door and they take it to your table. Sweet Mr. Iain was such a gentleman and helped me with my food to go to my car. Great restaurant. Great people and I will be back. Forks up!!

Yelp
Sunday was Not a good taco day I Uber tacos and Wow in the taco I found a rock. Almost broke my tooth. Grossed me out potato egg with beans. Never again will I order from here.Could it been a tooth ??

Yelp
Reason for 4 stars is because of the bacon and tortillas. Bacon was too large and needed to be chopped a bit , i broke it down by hand ;) , Also the tortillas are a bit on the Thickk sidee so yeah . Maybe i'm just being picky , i'm giving y'all my best opinion. They are large breakfast tacos! Texas size if i may say . They were good! don't get me wrong! Might come back and just get 2 instead of 3 . I ordered mine with bacon , egg , potatoe , beans , and my dumba** forgot to add cheese. NEXT TIME It was a nice treat for lunch , i was very thankful for them to still be serving breakfast tacos at 1:30pm , gold star for that one! Also the staff are very nice and genuine folks. :)

Mary L.

Yelp
Feb 27 I purchased a Barbacoa taco , very delicious and fresh comes with cilantro and onions, on flour tortilla. Price very reasonable. Sandra, Erica and staff very friendly and always ready to serve with a smile. Homemade flour tortillas like moms a bonus. I give them a 5 star rating stop by for breakfast tacos or lunch playe specials. Will keep coming back! #1 Ms.Mary

Yelp
The entrance is DANGEROUS. Today I watched an elderly woman trip and fall because of the "step" and door that slams behind you. Minutes after she fell another elderly man tripped but fortunately did not fall. This has been an ongoing issue at Chilosos. The "watch your step" sign was their solution instead of fixing the door and re-doing the floor. Don't get me started on the online order I placed at 6:43 am that should've been read at 8:00 am but wasn't ready until 8:20 am.

Daniel E.

Yelp
Haven't been in a year because the to-go is so bad. Craving a couple of their tacos so I caved. Barbacoa with cilantro and onion, asked for lime as well, and a breakfast taco... No cilantro or onion, no lime. Called and cashier was very apologetic. Said it happens with to-go's too often. The ladies in the kitchen are awful. They couldn't get a to-go order to right if their life depended on it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
google avatar

Aline S.

Yelp
Fire!!!!! Honestly they have delicious tacos. my go to is the bacon, egg, cheese, chorizo & potato! I love their hot sauce and their habanero is amazing but super spicy. Tacos are huge, i would recommend getting one but you could always save it for later!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Amazing. Authentic. Great atmosphere and great people. Totally worth stopping in and having a bite to eat and sharing a conversation. Love this place.

Arlene W.

Yelp
We have ordered from here before without any issues and enjoyed the food; however, today the food was not good with tortillas capable of roofing a home...thick, heavy, doughy...very tough meat, and the pork with green salsa was most unappetizing to look at and was not good. The cooks are not the same as in the past. We will not order from or eat there again. Very disappointing as it used to be a favorite.

Yelp
Every time I stop in Houston I always need to make a stop. Tacos are amazing and it's in a cool stop in downtown area.
google avatar

Karina N.

Yelp
This place is decent. My best friend was raving about it. Honestly, I like the ambience better than the food. The location is great and I hear the breakfast tacos are bomb. Maybe I'll come back for those. We sat outside. It was such a beautiful day. I'm glad they have outdoor seating.

Katrina S.

Yelp
This place is the bomb!!! It's an original Heights spot and a must. Tortillas are house made and thick. Tacos are insanely good, especially the Chapell Hill sausage, but also potato, egg and cheese. OJ: fresh. Service, fast and friendly. You name it, and it's a go-to spot. Drive your Jeep or other non-bougie vehicle because the lot is not exactly smooth.
google avatar

Bacon and egg s.

Yelp
I always go during the mornings. Breakfast tacos are fire. Service was great . Dog friendly patio. 4.5 out of 5.
google avatar

Petra R.

Yelp
The service for example at the register is OK. I like the relaxed atmosphere. The Breakfast Tacos are my jam! I do remember the tacos being stuffed with eggs and whatever else is added...I would be full with one. I have noticed them not packing it in as much as before, still delicious but the price is pricing. I love the red chilaquiles plate and the coffee is always on point.
google avatar

Carolyn H.

Yelp
Omg! So sad I am just now finding this amazing and authentic taco shop!! Stopped by after a couple of appointments in the heights and so glad I did. The tacos are so good and the real deal. The salsa is warm and the chips are crunchy as they should be. The green sauce and red sauce for the tacos are great! I got one jimmy dean, egg, bacon and cheese taco and one bacon, cheese, and potato taco - both her delicious! They were also really fast for to go and still warm when I got home to eat them. I look forward to coming back and bringing my friends with me next time.
google avatar

Bridget R.

Yelp
Can't believe I haven't been here before. The food is great, people that work there so nice and helpful and the prices are great! Great outdoor and indoor seating options and parking. I wish they offered a salad option with a side of tortilla chips (all ingredients are in house). Will most likely become a regular.

Yelp
I love this place for simple breakfast tacos. I usually get the bean taco with avocado, but I have also had the Mexican potato and egg taco, the cheese enchiladas, and the chips and salsa. Their refried beans are top tier and so are the tortillas. The potato and egg tacos are also good. The cheese enchiladas weren't amazing because the cheese quality was so-so, but they were still good, and I would order them again. The chips were terrible. I only ordered them once, and they were so bad, that I haven't tried them since. Their salsas are homemade, and the green sauce is usually fantastic. Occasionally it is a bit thin, but typically it's just the right consistency and a little spicy. The red salsa is bland and somewhat boring, but if someone in your group doesn't like spice, that's the one they will prefer. The habanero sauce is no joke, the orange one. I love it, but be ready - because it really is hot. One downside is the parking. Their lot is really bumpy and often full during peak times. I recommend ordering food online or in-person. Almost every phone order will be wrong.

Krista K.

Yelp
Don't order from here unless you are prepared to wait 45 minutes up to 1 hour for 1-2 tacos that are good but do not taste freshly made like you would expect after waiting so long. The tacos themselves are really big as mentioned. Sometimes the potatoes are not cooked fully so they are on the hard side and sometimes the bacon is large and rock hard but other than that they are pretty good. In summary- if you are in the area and have the extra time to wait give them a try. However, if you are hungry and wanting something fresh try elsewhere. I have been coming here for years and feel like over the years they have definitely gone down and aren't as good as they used to be.. kind of sad because I remember what they were years ago. Edit: I wanted to update my review. I posted the review above while waiting for my food after having multiple similar experiences. I placed my order online and was quoted the usual 45-50 mins wait time for 2 tacos (bacon, potatoes, and cheese). I usually call in my orders but the calls weren't going through so I placed my order online and a confirmation was sent via text stating they would text once my order was ready. I showed up at the 40 minute mark hoping it was ready.. (had not received any message alerting me to it being ready). The cashier was rude per usual but I am not phased by that anymore... my food was ready and cold. I received a text stating my food was ready 6 minutes after I had already left the place with my food.

Yelp
Good breakfast taco place. Friendly and quick service. Prices reasonable. Would have liked a little extra flavor. The orange juice was wonderful.
google avatar

Alvaro N.

Yelp
Decent but not great ppl from the area probably love it but me being Mexican I'm not impressed at all pretty expensive but it is what it is.... It's more or less like a Taco Bell...
google avatar

Yelp
Found a great place for breakfast!!!! *****Let me tell ya a little story... in the early 90s, we used to get the "best" Carne Guisada tacos at a little place in Corpus Christi named "Sylvia's Kountry Kitchen!" OMG! We've craved them! Then in 2003, at David's mom's funeral, his sister-in-law made that same fantastic recipe! Not the reddish kind found in most restaurants... she shared her recipe and we've been enjoying it since then! We have spent 30 years searching for a restaurant that used this particularly fantastic recipe... FOUND IT!!!!! GOD WINK!
google avatar

S G.

Yelp
Tacos are big worth the 4$ bucks and the flour tortillas were delicious! I ordered some fajita tacos to go for lunch and they were good too.

Derrick N.

Yelp
Whoever is giving this place 5 stars... stop. Ordered fajita tacos and got roast beef instead. That shit is fraudulent. Queso was good. Found a rat in my Cobb salad.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
So good! In North Texas they don't know anything about good breakfast tacos. I wish we could have a Chilosos by us because I would eat there every morning! Thick homemade tortillas with lots of filling - sooooo amazing! You have to try this place!

Alex B.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Great customer service and the best green and habanero salsa in Houston!! You can customize your taco the way you want it. I personally love their picadillo taco, but their carne guisada, Chappell hill sausage, and Mexican potato tacos are also good. I go here almost weekly.
google avatar

Anthony K.

Yelp
Just a quick note... we have been coming here for years. They are consistently good, and the counter girls even seem friendlier, from their old ho-hum. - They have an addition to their coffee offering, CAFE de OLLA, which has brown sugar, cinnamon and chocolate. It it good and I hope they keep offering it. - My staple here is the bacon and egg taco on homemade corn tortillas. Over theyears, the bacon has really gotten fatty, I suppose you can order it crisp.

Sterling R.

Yelp
Finally! The kind of breakfast tacos I miss from growing up in San Antonio! If you love the San Antonio style, thick fluffy flour tortilla, definitely come here. Their bean and cheese was just like home! The egg, bacon and cheese was great too.
google avatar

Anne Marie O.

Yelp
I'm a regular. Tortillas are hand made and cooks speak Spanish. Good service and prices.

Annie A.

Yelp
Overpriced. Credit card fees are ridiculous. Tastier tacos down the road at Indio's taco house! Too many great taco places to pay $5 for one thin under filled taco. Pass.
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
This review is for a to-go order placed via Uber Eats, so I cannot comment on the parking situation, crowds, customer service...but I can say the breakfast tacos I got were so so soooo good. First off, the tortillas - maybe some of the best I have had? They are a meal in themselves: thick, fluffy, and obviously hot and fresh. The eggs were also fluffy and perfectly cooked. I got one taco with their fiesta potatoes (potatoes plus peppers) and one with chorizo. I was amazed that the chorizo taco wasn't greasy in the slightest. I cannot wait to get my hands on more of their breakfast tacos. It may become a weekly tradition.
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
Average taco place. The breakfast taco portions are huge! Ingredients could be flavored a bit more. Staff is very friendly and service is prompt. Still doesn't make up for the food though. Hard to park here if your car is lowered.

J H.

Yelp
I was excited to go back to get their tacos. It was so busy on Sat morning. After my order, I selected print receipt (which like most of us I usually never do). Since I had to wait like 10 min for my order, I took a look at my receipt and saw a "temporary inflation fee 10%". I know inflation is real but how is it "temporary" and why aren't there signs about this extra fee? I saw lots of signs everywhere else. Like the big one coming in to watch my step. And the "number of salsa = number of tacos ordered" (which they also gypped me on). It's misleading. Buyer beware. Would prefer if they would raise their prices or be more forthcoming about this extra fee.
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
The price is almost $4 for a breakfast taco that is subpar at best. They screwed up my order. I ordered a bacon and potato taco she brought me a potato and egg taco. When I brought it up she looked at me weird I tried to give her the potato and egg taco to take back and she said I will just bring you out the bacon, ok cool. Well when she returned she didn't have bacon but instead she had a receipt showing that she took my order down wrong then she asked me if I would like to order bacon I said yes and at the time I thought there was a price difference I needed to pay but when I looked at the prices the 2 items were the exact same price so I guess she was going to ask me to pay for the order of bacon since SHE took my order incorrectly. I was going to pay whatever she asked for and just never return but after 15 minutes of waiting for the bacon I gave up and left. I won't be going back.

Thomas H.

Yelp
I don't get why this is 3.5 on Yelp or so, it's 5 stars all day all the way period. Lunch fajita tacos are outrageously good, corn and flour tortillas slap so hard and every component of taco is flawless. Salsas are dope as hell. Barbacoa is best around that I have had. The only have a true sausage and egg which is the only draw back. They have Chappell bill sausage link cut and egg but not a breakfast sausage and egg which I wish they would get but still five stars

Robert R.

Yelp
Food is great. Unfortunately they have decided to start charging credit card fees which feels like you are being nickel and dimed. I would prefer they just increase their base cost for the tacos.

Christian M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Came here yesterday and the service was phenomenal. Will definitely be coming again in the foreseeable future. I believe the woman who attended to me was named Cassie. She went above and beyond during my time there, really appreciate the customer service! Give that woman a raise! Now, onto the food: I ordered carne guisada taco and a egg, chorizo, and cheese taco. Tasted like Heaven. Nuff said.

Christopher F.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast tacos! Large portions, good prices, great mangonada, bomb chips and queso.
google avatar

Vanessa V.

Yelp
This is where it's at for breakfast... the tacos are amazing the orange juice is top notch.

Norma W.

Yelp
The food comes out quickly and is so fresh and delicious! The tortillas are amazing!! They have great customer service!! The atmosphere is like going to your Tia's house to eat!

Yelp
First time here, I loved it I came for tacos but ended up with a breakfast sandwich, let me tell you this is not your regular sandwich, this is your abuela's don't go hungry sandwich , we also got tacos but that will be a snack for later , the ambiance and set up outside is great there's fans, people are friendly and welcoming, overall a great a experience, will be coming back soon Thank you CTH

Mirna C.

Yelp
A quarky place with great tacos! I wasn't sure what to expect. As you come in the cash register and place to place your order are in the front with a wall menu. They have tacos and food plates. Once you order the place looks small but if you keep going in there's a whole other room with plenty of seating for lunch. I ordered the eggs and sausage taco, carne guisada and the chicken fajita all on corn tortillas. The tortillas are awesome! They don't break in half as they out eat your taco. The carne guisada wasn't fatty like I expected. I just wish there was some veggies like potatoes and carrots in there. The breakfast taco was also good, filling.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Given this place a few tries. Food is ok sometimes cold. Orders always seem to be a frantic mess and never ready on time. Staff is rude and on top order is incorrect 80% of the time. Given up and moving on

Luis F.

Yelp
A co-worker told me about this place some time ago. Since I like to try new places , my wife and I came to try this place out. Chilosos did not disappoint. My wife and I were satisfied with service , food , taste and ambience . I ordered agua de sandía ( watermelon water) and it was so delicious that I had to order another one ( no refills).

Marissa C.

Yelp
I swear I ordered cheese enchiladas with red sauce. I went looking for the red sauce part of it and only found 100% cheese sauce (weird cheese). I ate one very slowly and gave the other to my boyfriend. Additionally, the service is awful. We tried to flag someone down multiple times to ask for red sauce and when we finally got service we were given odd looks. No courtesy. Everyone may have different experiences but I myself will not be going back.
google avatar

Hana B.

Yelp
This was my first experience at Chilosos and I was not disappointed! The breakfast tacos were huge and filled with bacon, egg, and yummy white cheese. The tortillas are handmade and you can tell. The green salsa was a little spicy, but very delicious. Clean restaurant, attentive staff, fresh ingredients. Will definitely visit again.

Catherine B.

Yelp
Great place. Fun atmosphere. Outside seating and amazing authentic food. Fun fun fun

Rob H.

Yelp
Worst breakfast plate I have had here. So disappointed. Been by here a bunch of times and food has always been great. Today beans and potatoes were cold!!! Maybe new cooks. Next time I will just stick with the tacos.
google avatar

Lonnie P.

Yelp
Breakfast tacos are absolutely the best in Houston. I've lived here all my life and very rare I would say that. I've lived in Houston for seven decades now so take my word for it.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
This place slaps. Always hits the spot. There really is no better comeback after a night of poisoning myself with booze than shoving tacos into my face. And time and time again I'm shoving tacos into my face at Chilosos. I keep coming back because they produce consistent quality. Tortillas are amazing, service is quick, food is tasty, and the staff are all pleasant. The tacos and the sauce alone are dank, but the staff and service put it over the top for me. The parking lot sucks. But just deal with it. Tacos are worth it.
