Yelp
Fried chicken is a wonderful food. Period. One can find an amazing version of it across town with Reel em Inn being right at the top. Hey, my opinion but it is pretty damn good. But I've had other great varieties of fried chicken from other places including the fried chicken app at Bollywood Theater and the spicy dry fried chicken at either Kung Pow or Shandong. You can find whatever you want in fried chicken from quite a few countries. So when Chimcking had their soft opening sign up for awhile over in Hollywood, I kinda knew I'd end up there at some point.
So, walking in I knew what I was leaning towards, they have large menus to look over right outside the storefront. Chimcking has these half & half chicken options of their Soy Garlic and spicy wings or boneless wings. For $13.99, you get a good amount of chicken and sooooooooo much flavor. I got fries to go with it, but it looks like I need to try the King rice on my next visit from some of the other reviews.
Now being at the tail end of Covid, the place is only takeout or delivery (3rd party). The location has been several other restaurants and I do hope they eventually utilize the space well. B level wrestling and K-pop videos were on two different TV screens while I waited for my food, so there's that.
As for the boneless wings? The Soy Garlic with some sesame seeds on them was sweet and tangy and quite amazing. The crispiness was on point. The spicy ones had a great kick, not in a buffalo wing way and they do offer an extra spicy version which I'd try. I also received a small order of pickled radishes that had a nice sour bite to the food that balanced things out. Very umami.
I enjoyed the food and I'm pretty sure any of you reading this will as well. They offer whole chicken options as well and combos, plus a few other Korean items. Overall, I'll be back to try more.
Enjoy and support local PDX.
