On the Grid : Chimera

"This intriguing lighting store is home to carefully sourced décor featuring many hand-blown glass and artisan-styled lighting fixtures. The extremely knowledgeable staff works with everyone from professional architects to homeowners to help you find exactly what you are looking for. It is a gem of Fort Point and definitely worth checking out, if only to admire the impressive collection of sculptural lights hanging from the high loft ceilings." - Branding Iron @ Stantec

The 18 Best Restaurants in Tulsa, Oklahoma | Eater

"There are plenty of coffee shops in town where you can get a shot of caffeine, but Chimera offers a rare full breakfast and lunch menu, featuring a wide variety of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, alongside meaty plates. Owner Rob Stuart strives for a chill, inviting downtown atmosphere and he succeeds. It’s an ideal place to fuel up on breakfast tacos, take a coffee meeting, and answer some emails." - Jess Brent

Google
Best breakfast tacos in Tulsa ... Top five for me all time. The coffee is good and strong, great inclusive environment, and tasty vegan options for breakfast and lunch. Highly recommend... Or maybe not because then it's too crowded for me to get my Back to Primitive tacos!

I recently patronized an establishment purporting to serve food and drink, though I use the term "serve" with the generosity of a medieval monk dispensing alms. The food—mercifully—was good, perhaps the only aspect of the experience that did not compel me to launch into a diatribe against modern culinary degeneracy. The service, while not wholly abysmal, bore the unmistakable apathy of youth trained more in scrolling than serving. Now, let us consider the so-called cherry limeade, a chemical affront masquerading as refreshment. It tasted not of cherries, nor of limes, but of citric acid and industrial negligence. And the latte? A warm bath of milk, disturbed only slightly by what might have been a memory of espresso.

Google
A charming spot for brunch in downtown Tulsa! Everyone was friendly, and the vibes were chill and relaxing. The pastry case looked amazing, my black coffee was also top notch in flavor. My toast was a sourdough bread and the jam served with it was the best I’ve ever had- nice complex flavor. Everything tasted and felt like it was made in house! All of the vegan options also sounded very good, I’m looking forward to coming back to try the breakfast tacos. The restrooms are very cool- you must visit them while you’re there! Everyone will feel welcome and included at Chimera.

A short stroll through early morning Tulsa means tiptoeing over the ghost of Route 66, already sweating under the promise of a humid Southern day. The city hums, not quite awake, not quite asleep, still shaking off the glitter and guilt of last night’s mischief. A crumpled bow tie lies abandoned on the sidewalk, the only surviving witness to some poor soul’s dramatic exit. And just when it seems all hope is lost... behold, an oasis: a scrappy little deli tucked into a street with more secrets than signage. Inside waits the unexpected: vegan delight so smugly delicious, it could slap the insult right off the tongue of that rude twenty-something who declared, sometime around 3 a.m., that Tulsa wasn’t “vegan friendly.” ENTER: Chimera Café. The décor is a riot of color, the seating arrangement a playful dare, but none of it holds a candle to the food; a feast that doesn't ask for your approval. It commands it. Staff is friendly and unobtrusive. Prices are comparable.

Absolutely gorgeous plating and fantastic flavors! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Love that they have a big selection of vegan and non-vegan choices.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been coming to Chimera for years in Tulsa, and it’s still my favorite spot. Just stepped in for a quick coffee today, but their breakfast is always 🔥. The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, the service is solid, and the food is consistently excellent. Whether you’re stopping by for a caffeine fix or a full-on brunch, Chimera never disappoints.

Google
Monsieur Fromage. The cheese on the sourdough is melted to perfection and helps keep the bread’s structure from the juicy tomato. And the spicy chipotle crema, boss moves.

Google
Great breakfast spot, the food was amazing. Service efficient and friendly and the atmosphere was warm and work friendly.

Yelp
Great breakfast tacos! The Toasted Marshmallow Latte is also a must try. Service was pretty quick, and there was plenty of seating available during the early lunch hour.

Yelp
Nice place to stop for an excellent Cortado and a sandwich. We ate here in between seeing the Dylan and Guthrie museums.

Yelp
Suoer happy with Chimera! Tulsa is known for its food scene and we count Chimera as a major contributor. Darling trendy location for breakfast, coffee and lunch plus includes back room for events. Plus HUGE props for having several legit vegan options that aren't just like bean burritos ha! No this place takes care of their vegan customers and I am grateful. They have craft coffee as well, and a gorgeous espresso machine. I just wish they had dark roast ha! I'm enjoyed the vegan bowl, with tofu and adzuki strips. Those strips are delightful and the potatoes add depth. My only complaint is the serving is huge and my stomach is sooooo full! My companion had Dirty Boots taco and loved it. We also shared a house made donut, the chocolate strawberry and it was perfect.

Yelp
Chimera is amazing!!! My iced latte was perfect. Equal amount of milk and definitely tasted the espresso. My breakfast bowl which was the steak & potatoes was delicious. Exactly what I was looking for after the gym. The oatmeal banana chocolate chip cookie- OMG!!! My sweet tooth was so happy after eating that cookie. Service was quick and friendly. Casual ambiance in a cute artsy neighborhood in downtown Tulsa.

Yelp
Customer service. Ordered a burrito with bacon that was paid for. Didn't get the bacon honest mistake. But upon calling back a gentleman answered the phone and came off rude and bothered that I was calling about the issue. When asking about returning I was headed in to a meeting but would come back. I was hung up on.

Yelp
This cafe offers breakfast and lunch and also alcoholic drinks. You order from the counter and they give you an alphabet sign, the food will be delivered to your table. You can serve yourself a glass of water by the entrance. I ordered kale salad with chicken. The kale was hard to chew. I rarely order kale but there wasn't other preferable option. The chicken was also tough. On the other hand my husband had a sandwich with red pepper jelly and he said it was amazing. It's a nice combination of sweet and spicy. The bread was thick and nicely toasted. I also had a bowl of chilies. I could tell it was homemade, not too salty but I wish that there was more broth.

Yelp
Fun place to eat! I like how you can see the view of Tulsa. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was good and worth the price. I will be back as I wasn't sure how I felt about ordering a salad for breakfast, but will go back to try it for lunch since others recommend it.

Yelp
This is my fav place in the neighbourhood where you can grab a healthy taco/bowl, fresh press juice, coffee and wifi. It's hard finding healthy options for the area - so this place is refreshing and plenty of vegan and non-vegan options.

Kendall y.

Yelp
Everything we had was vegan. It was not only creative, but colorful and delicious!!! Such an amazing little place. Love the balcony.
google avatar

Maddox L.

Yelp
Literally the best vegan breakfast plate I've ever had. The place has a rustic charm. And the service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
Wonderful, small local restaurant in downtown with great ambiance to grab a meal. They have great vegetarian and vegan options as well. I had a chance to stop by Chimera for a private event as well as for breakfast and I found my experiences there to be quite good. The staff were polite and helpful and the ambiance was nice. It is a small place, but wasn't too crowded..so it allowed me to just enjoy my time with the food and connecting with people in my party. The breakfast tacos were wonderful. I had a chance to try the disappear and the dirty boots tacos ($4.5-$5.5 ea) and thought both were really good! I really liked the dirty boots because it's a vegan version..yet was so tasty that I would definitely eat it again! Overall, great spot for sure! Glad I was able to check this place out. Note: they have a variety of cocktails, coffees, drinks, etc..but no diet soda (my low-key go to choice of drink)!

Yelp
Wow!!! What a find! We came here looking for a healthier and different breakfast option while in Tulsa and we certainly found it. We had the diamond sea burrito and the carrot lox pesto wrap. I was blown away by both. So much flavor in both. To drink we tried the golden turmeric latte which was delicious! Service was excellent. Ambience was relaxed and decor was nice.

Yelp
Easy to read menu, you can come here handle some light business work and have a drink aswell. Personal favorite probably has to go to the breakfast tacos. Super great staff. Thanks again

Yelp
Really cool laid back spot. Working space and a great vibe. Grab an espresso or brunch. Hang out and chill. Really enjoyed it.
google avatar

Yelp
This vegetarian/vegan spot is perfect for taking mixed crowd food friends (meat eaters and veggie lovers) because there are solid options for both. The menu is extensive, and who doesn't love fresh ingredients? The tacos and juice are hands-down the best thing about this place! I have been here a few times, and the juice has been on par every time. I'm so-so about the burrito and had to add a lot of hot sauce for flavor, but the tacos were all flavorful on their own! The wait time is what you'd expect for a place making everything themselves and it's still perfect for a lunch hour break. I'll be here over and over again, likely for more juice and tacos.

Yelp
Breakfast tacos were good, the cafe was a cute place to hang out. The coffee and pastry I ordered were just okay. Not a bad price point. Staff friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Steph M.

Yelp
I wasn't a huge fan of their coffee, I got a regular mocha latte, and I think getting chocolate syrup is always a risk. Their food is delicious though I recommend their bowls and wraps. This location is so fun, nice staff, but very busy location!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're in the Tulsa area and want to have a spot that can a coma your dietary needs, Chimera is a great choice. I'd say their menu leans to the healthier side which is great. My friend has a gluten snd dairy sensitivity so she was able to substitute and enjoyed her breakfast tacos. This place is very quaint and had a really cool hipster vibe in the best way possible. It felt very local which I love when being in a city. Will be coming back to try their breakfast tacos next time I'm here for work.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast before leaving Tulsa, as it had both a good food menu and coffee. I got a drip coffee and granola with fruit. My friend got a vanilla latte and the toast with almond butter, banana, honey, and granola. Both were good and my friend said hers was really filling. Coffee was also good and they had non-dairy milk options. It's a tad dark inside, but that would be my only critique. People working were friendly and food came out relatively quickly. It looks like they have live music on Sunday afternoons and have bar options also. Worth the visit!
google avatar

Peter W.

Yelp
Great food! Enjoyed the teenage riot and the Green eggs and Ham. I'd like it if they put a little less egg inside. Maybe that's just me. I guess you can always take it out if you don't want it. I just feel like I'd like a better ratio of topping to egg. The great food. Great location. Loved it. Loved the people. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Had a great cappuccino and gluten free banana muffin. Very friendly service. Love the art and the flowers.

Yelp
Tulsa, Ok. Open on Sunday. This place was awesome. We had to grab lunch to go and get to the airport. Their lattes were excellent, and our wait for the preparation of our sandwiches was very short. Upon opening our boxes in the terminal we were surprised to find a beautifully constructed lunch on artisan bread. So good. I would recommend this place to any travelers passing through. Drive time to the airport on a Sunday: 8 minutes. Several detours encountered downtown due to construction and bicycle and marathon events.

Desstoni J.

Yelp
This was a cute little brunch cafe! Menu options were limited but the options they did have were pretty tasty. Mimosas were only like 10% juice, the way I like them lol service was great too. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed brunching here!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing! Fabulous! We were able to park around the corner not too far a walk. The interior is artsy and lovely. The dining area was not too loud but there is also a room in the back. I had the Twinster Plate & Dirty Boot taco. Both were delicious! The plate in itself would have been plenty but I had to have that taco! Yummy We each had the tea but should have actually had one with two cups. Great tea but too much. There are worse things than too much tea but seemed wasteful. I look forward to returning to Tulsa someday and revisiting this delightful spot. Great service, fabulous food.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, very accommodating for all diets, charming place inside and out. I had a wonderful lunch and breakfast while visiting Tulsa.

Yelp
Great Vegan Food. Super delicious cookies. Easy parking Loved the various juices. Service was good. Food came out quickly

Yelp
Great coffee and baked items. The tacos are delicious. The staff are kind and friendly. Great place to sit and have breakfast with your pardner. Nice place to feel welcome.

Cherry S.

Yelp
Service was a little slow in the morning since they were filling togo orders. There were not a lot of staff present. This is more of a quick cafe. Order at register and they bring out your food. Breakfast tacos were great. 1 is filling but glad I got 2 since there are no sides. They give you enough eggs and topping for each taco. It was falling out of the side as I took a bite. Regretting not trying the coffee but wasnt feeling it that day. Would go back.

Yelp
This was the first place I wanted to go to in Tulsa and I firmly stand by that decision. Bringing the delicious to crunchy granola vegetarian food (my favorite kind of food), Chimera makes me feel like I'm at home. There's a great selection of options for all dietary needs and everything is delicious. Some of my favorites are the cauliflower wings and the chickpea veggie burger, plus the breakfast tacos. They use the high-quality and delicious Holy Kakow syrup, based in Portland, OR that I haven't seen used as often off of the west coast, so it's always a treat. And they make some of the best espresso drinks in town with them! A great place if you're looking for a craft health menu with plenty of choices.

Yelp
Super cute vibes in here. Definitely had a great time visiting this small cafe. I came here on a Saturday morning and ordered a matcha latte and some type of breakfast bowl. Food quality was great, everything tasted like it was made in house and with love. Definitely recommend for a cute breakfast date or if you want a quick bite to eat without the formalities.

Yelp
I came to Tulsa to visit one of my close friends and this place was in my must tries! I ordered: TWINERS VEGAN PLATE: This dish was a little plain tbh. The tofu scramble was simple, there was fruit on the side, and the slices of vegan bacon/ strips were a bit dry for my liking. On a positive note, it was pretty refreshing & healthy. STRAWBERRY DONUT: This was bomb! The frosting was the perfect amount of sweetness. I didn't care for the sprinkles or strawberry on top, but was def there for the moistness of the donut. MAPLE DONUT: This stole the show! I loved how it wasn't overly sweet. The consistency was perfect. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The man who took our order was very charming! He was quick, friendly, and answered all our questions; our food came out pretty quick too.

Yelp
Best day ever!! The first time we've been here since moving to Tulsa but won't be the last!! The ingredients are all so fresh and seem to be hand picked!! This is a hidden gem with all the ambiance you can fit in one location! This is a must try!! The staff is very accommodating and right on time; not to disturb but making sure you have everything you need!! FIVE STARS!!!!!

Yelp
Wonderful surprise for an impromptu breakfast! Quality dishes and great atmosphere! Would definitely recommend!

Tara S.

Yelp
Absolutely love Chimera, but lately the coffee has been so sour recently. Their breakfast tacos are to die for, and their baristas are really friendly, so I kept coming back. Unfortunately, the coffee is has been really inconsistent the last few weeks. Sometimes it's the best latte in town, but recently my lattes from here have been so sour that I can't even finish them. Apparently, under-extraction causes sourness and the taste is harder to cover up with oat milk.
google avatar

Al L.

Yelp
Chimera is one of our favorite places to grab coffee/juice, food, or drinks in downtown Tulsa! It has such lovely and unique artwork and decorations inside. The atmosphere is very chill and perfect for hanging out with friends or going on a study break. They have very friendly staff members who are helpful and give great advice on what to get depending on your taste preferences. They have plenty of options for healthy tacos, sandwiches, salads, and vegan/vegetarian bowls for breakfast or lunch. You can also enjoy delicious cocktails in their full bar when staying out late on a weekend night.
google avatar

Sophia-Joy P.

Yelp
The food and coffee here is very expensive for the quality. The ambiance is a little dusty but a lot quieter than other coffee shops typically. The service is very prompt.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food ! Lots of great options , everything taste delicious, good service! We just love this place

Yelp
Chimera I would say is your trendy/hip/artistic restaurant. Like most trendy/hip restaurants they serve mostly vegan dishes. I came during the morning time, and I want to say that this place was probably the best at keeping up the COVID-19 restrictions. I liked that, especially when I felt weird when I found myself and my wife were the only ones wearing our masks. However, inside it was modern, simplistic, something that you would see if you were in a big city such as San Francisco or New York. I ordered a macchiato and the daydream nation bowl with tomatillo. I wanted to try something new and the daydream sounded like it. Tofu dish on top a bed of greens. It was definitely something different than what I usually eat for breakfast. The dish was seasoned well, and the beans had flavored and added to the dish. For what it was, I thought it was great. I would definitely recommend this place if you're trying to go for a vegan/vegetarian meal. If you're not into vegan/vegetarian meals, I would say that you would probably want to keep looking for other breakfast spots.
google avatar

Yelp
Good coffee and breakfast tacos but their hours are frustrating. They close at 3pm and I can no longer go because my coffee shop time is almost always in the afternoon. They also seem to have gnats that will often fly around. If they have better hours and could get rid of the gnats then I'd give it 5 stars.
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
I ordered the avocado toast with a scrambled egg and was pleasantly surprised that it was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed the sprouts that they added on top. My boyfriend ordered the All American breakfast bowl and it was also very tasty. We enjoyed the seasonal spiked apple cider and my only critique is that it would have been better if it was warm. Regardless, it was very tasty and I enjoyed my experience overall.
google avatar

Madeline E.

Yelp
This cafe serves wonderful food and coffee, and the aesthetic is perfect for a casual hang out or to work on your laptop. I added some avocado to my burrito which paired well with the fluffy eggs, potato, bacon, cheese, and tomatillo salsa. The dipping sauce that came with the side potatoes was also They also has a lot of vegan and vegetarian options on their menu!
google avatar

Renee L.

Yelp
Order at the counter and they'll give you a number for your food and drinks to be delivered to your table. Arrived and got right to the counter but shortly after the line developed and did not stop. There's seating in the front and also all the way in the back but the back room doesn't have windows and is dark and the floor was VERY sticky and the tables are long community tables so decided to wait for a seat in the front area which worked out perfectly. Portions are generous and the food is good. They also have gluten and dairy free and vegan baked goods as well. Wish they'd venture in GF / DF donuts and the world would be good. Haha.
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
A downtown staple. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Don't sleep on anything cauliflower - so so good!
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
Good food, nice size portions, healthy and vegan options. I got the vegan burger and a side of vegan bacon. Yum. Everything people were getting around me looked delicious. The food has a farm to table vibe. Better than a standard restaurant.
google avatar

Teaira J.

Yelp
This cute little coffee shop has quite a variety of food options for all types weather you are looking for breakfast, lunch or coffee. On certain days, they have live music and there is a ping pong table in the back room!! Bonus!
google avatar

Jarrod R.

Yelp
Great coffee in a warm environment. Also enjoyed the personalized signage inside and out. Would be the kind of place I'd be a regular if I lived in the area. One star off for having to ask for the restroom key. I suppose there was a reason at one point, but it just rubs me the wrong way.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Just had an excellent Americano and some scrumptious tofu tacos at Chimera. They we're bursting with flavor and I would love to take home some of their avocado crema. I was able to easily avoid milk, egg and nut allergens. (Yay!) This is a lovely coffee shop with a laid back, uncomplicated vibe that has a full service breakfast and lunch menu. Meat eaters won't be scared away: bacon and other traditional breakfast favorites are also on the menu. If I return to Tulsa I'm coming back.
google avatar

Chad G.

Yelp
Good ambiance. Lots of action in the area of the place. Bars, concert venues and other food options all around. This place is a bit hipster for me... not a bad thing. I'm old. Food is unique; drink selection is the same. In short, All good.

Cathy B.

Yelp
I highly recommend this fantastic restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is delicious and we loved the ambiance. I had the salty maple coffee and it was unlike anything I've ever tried.
