Chimichurri Donde El Primo Review - Allapattah - Miami - The Infatuation

"As dusk rolls around, one of Miami’s best sandwiches, the Dominican chimichurri, emerges in Allapattah. It’s a super savory patty-shaped meatball on a crisp water roll with lettuce, tomato, and pink sauce. This is one of the world’s great post-partying foods. There are food trucks and carts located throughout Allapattah that sell these. But our favorite is Chimichurri Donde El Primo, a truck that parks on 36th Street. They have some folding tables and crates scattered around, and if you’re lucky you may get an impromptu demonstration of some great merengue or bachata moves. When it comes time to order, we’re devoted to the ground beef version, but they also do one with shredded poached chicken that’s a bit lighter." - Carlos C Olaechea

Google
The most disgusting place to order food from! I paid $60 for Chicharron and Picadera personal and they sent me overfried chicharron (grease only) and just a chunk had meat, a extremely dry and old chopped beef, a fried chicken that tasted like fish and tostones that were refried 3 days ago. NEVER order from this place before

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE! This was the weirdest tasting food I've ever had. I feel like they substituted every meat with some sort of street animal I literally don't know which meat was which. Insane flavor. Awful

Yelp
Absolutely a Dominican staple in Miami, I love how they're open late and whether you're Dominican or not are always welcoming. The food is delicious, the chimi is a must no matter what meat you choose you'll be a happy camper however the pork/pierna is my personal favorite. The only downside is how well known this place is as there might be a bit of a wait at times.

Yelp
PLEASANT DISCLAIMER: I'm amazed by the assumptions that the Dominican SANDWICHES made by this food truck are "hamburgers" or "burgers." The least one can do is inform thyself before trying to ASSUME what these fine delicacies never were; you're only making an ASS out of yourself. That said, let's talk about the sandwiches: The Dominican chimichurris, or Dominican sandwiches, from this food truck, are SECOND to NONE! Now taking credit cards, Cash App, Apple Pay, etc., this food truck is on top of its technological and culinary proclivities. They understand the needs of the community, and BOY DO THEY DELIVER! I've had the chicken and ground beef chimis (or picadillo, as mostly known in the Cuban culture), and they're super delicious. The meats and poultry themselves are well-seasoned, so those alone need no complimenting. Yet, with the freshness of the fruit (tomato) and vegetables help counterbalance the crispy Cuban bread used to make this wonderful snack. The usual combination for me would be a chimi and a Country Club soda, which is the national beverage of the Dominican Republic. (Raspberry-flavored/Frambuesa is your best bet.) For less than $20 you and loved ones can enjoy delicious sandwiches with a refreshing Dominican beverage. Whether you're strapped in cash or plastic, they'll accept you in every which way. Enjoy a chimi from Los Primos. They'll treat you like family.

Yelp
Wackest chimi I've had. Was looking for the other food truck and settled for this. Maybe their fritura is good but chimi's a no go. Great customer service

Yelp
We just left here after watching a wrestling match in Miami. It's a good lil food truck. Service is good and fast. If you're expecting a nice view, this isn't the place. It's in the middle of the hood (don't worry it's a safe place). They are known for their Chimis which is a Dominican burger on toasted bread with cabbage and ketchup/mayo. It may not sound the yummiest, but it's pretty good. I've had better Chimis in NY and Orlando, but for a quick bite you can't beat it. The passion fruit juice is delicious. The empanadas are really good, the meat is seasoned to perfection. I remember the chimis being better the first time we went there years ago, seems that they are taking shortcuts. Again, if you're craving a chimi and are close by, it'll hit the spot.

Yelp
After a full day and night of drinking and dancing I was starvating!!!!!!! I wanted something great, fufilling, and nothing like a fast food establishment. Was in the Wynwood area and my friend reminded me of this Chimi stand. For people that don't know, a chimi is a delicious Dominican sandwich filled with either beef, chicken, or pork, shredded cabbage and a special mesmerizing sauce that gets all over your face and fingers, yes I love it. I'm a sandwich lover so this was a perfect meal for me. I first fell in love with the Chimi when I went to DR. I've been hooked ever since. Who knew such simple ingredients would fulfill my hunger soul, ha ha ha. This stand has been here for years and I've never had a bad experience. I like that their open late night cause I prefer real food compared to drive thru spots. There's also seating available if you choose to stay, sit, and eat. I will say it's outside in a lot so don't expect anything fancy. Just some chairs and old tables but hey, all you really need are your two hands to stuff your face like I did. I can't wait to come back and have another chimi. For those of you who aren't really into Chimi's you still have the option of getting different plates of some bomb ass Dominican food, I also have a weak spot for their chicharrones de pollo and tostones. Oh man it's all good. If your ever in that hood, stop by and check it out, there's no way you'll be disappointed, unless you've lost your taste buds that is!

Yelp
This is a good truck that I've been going to for years. They used to be known as the best chimi's in Miami, but I honestly feel like the quality and taste has changed dramatically over the years. The chimi de carne is dry and not tasty anymore. The service is always good and the other foods like fritura and yaroa are good, I just would go elsewhere for chimi's.
google avatar

Angie P.

Yelp
Came to have some chimichurri hamburgers like We have been for years but they are definitely not what they used to be. They were dry and did not taste as good as they used to. Same thing the last three times we've been here. They have just lost their touch. I will be going to a new chimichurri Food truck that just opened up in Wynwood recently. I'll let you know if they are authentic Dominican chimichurri burgers. One thing is for sure I will not be coming back to this place.

Yelp
Amazing! Love the chicken Chimi! The red soda is also amazing! Doesn't get any better than this!!!!

Yelp
The food truck craze took over Miami a few months ago - maybe starting with Art Basel. But there has been many food trucks around Miami that have been around for a long time. And this one is no exception. A well-known truck behind the fence and across the street from another truck serves up Dominican street food. People touts the Dominican burgers or "chimis" ($5) here which, in my opinion, is almost exactly like a pan con bistec but sans the canned fries, cabbage instead of lettuce, italian bun instead of cuban bread, and thin hamburger beef instead of a thin cut of steak. If you like a quick pan con bistec, then there's no reason for you to not like the Dominican chimi. I also tried the empanadas ($2, fried flour empanadas) and they were puffy and tasty - the way I like it. I think the filling could be a tad bit more but the size was good. Also, the passion fruit juice ($3) here is made just right! Note: Dominicans call their passion fruit chinola. I would like to come back to try the picalonga which is just a fried assortment of things served with sides and a lime wedge. The stand opens Tuesdays through Sundays at 6 p.m. and stays open until late at night.

Yelp
Best chimi sandwiches in Miami, also live the lemonade. My husband is Dominican and gets a full plate of carne, with cheese, plantains and chimis pink sauce. Love this spot

Yelp
Came to Miami on vacation, and was brought to this spot and wow, I felt like I was back at home in the Dominican Republic . These chimis taste exactly like the ones from home. A must try!!
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
I use to come to this place a lot because the chimi's were delicious and cheap. Unfortunately I think they changed the meat or cook it different but the quality is not the same and the last time I went , they forgot a part of my order

Gina S.

Yelp
This truck is super dope! The food and customer service is great and the food is delish! I highly recommend this spot.

Junior M.

Yelp
Great food, sometimes the wait is very long due to its popularity but definitely worth it and my go to after the club at 2am. Try their fried cheese

Edwin R.

Yelp
Hey, guys! This food truck is awesome. The customer service is fabulous and the food is fresh. However, I will say, the chimi Churri I was expecting was with shredded meat. The one I was given was meatloaf styled and I don't think that's how it's suppose to be served.
google avatar

Yelp
This is that late night Dominican truck spot. It's all about that pink sauce & the move is the Chimi. Basically their version of a burger on crusty bread w/ shredded cabbage, tomato & mad pink sauce in the middle. Soak up the liquor w/ one of these which are usually made in advance & are ready to go but if there's a wait, cop a ham & cheese patalito for the wait.. The chicharron de pollo is good but it's not boneless so if you don't wanna Phuc w/ it, u can get fried salami or just stick to the Chimi-s juu huurrd??
google avatar

Karol M.

Yelp
It's not that bad but sometimes the food doesn't taste too fresh the best are the juices Morir soñando is the best one they have is orange juice with evaporated milk delicious
google avatar

Jairiana R.

Yelp
They get one star for effort but that was nothing compared to what Washington Heights has to offer. The guy was nice but the Chimi and Passion Fruit were bad. If anyone needs a real Chimi you guys better head to NY Washington Heights and get a real Chimi from Luisa on 175 and Amsterdam.

Yelp
I love this place! After a guys night out in Downtown or South Beach, there's a good percentage that we will end up here. I love the sandwich they make. The sauce they put on the meat is phenomenal. The sandwich are fresh, they start the process after you place the order. One of my favorite places to get a quick bite to eat before calling it a night.

Yelp
This is a place that I will be able to recommend to everyone that I know because of how good the service and the food quality is at all times.

Yelp
Had a taste for Chimi burger for those who are not familiar it's a Dominicican burger. it consists of I'm guessing beef patty, shredded cabbage and their secret special sauce, the bun comes from the same bread as Cuban bread just cut in a bun size. I was literally craving this sandwich all day. I arrived to the lot located on 22nd ave around 7:00, I placed my order, and I'm thinking she was going to prepare the sandwich and she literally pulled it out the warmer. I asked her is this sandwich fresh? The lady advised me she just finish preparing it. I took her word and paid her $6. I went home and I unwrapped the sandwich, the sandwich was warm, but it had like a very stale taste to it. The cabbage wasn't very crunchy and the bread was very soggy. I was very upset because as I was biting it, it began falling part, juices of the sauce was on my clothes. I know that this is a high demand product, but it wasn't freshly prepared. I believe this was a sign from the Eat right Gods, telling me that I do not need to eat from this establishment anymore. Luckily for me, when I decide to have a cheat day again, there are a couple of Dominican food truck vendors, around the neighborhood to try. Yelpers, I'll keep you posted. Make sure to bring cash to this establishment, sorry no credit cards.

Yelp
Very different twist to fast food it's all Caribbean style food. Chimi Churri is pretty good as well as the chicarron de pollo with tostoñes really bring me back to my visit to the Dominican Republic. They also have plenty of other great tasting food. I also do recommend trying out the beef tacos that's topped of with cilantro. If you're looking for some great Dominican food this spot it the place to try.

Yelp
One of the best food trucks you will ever eat... Been going to this place for years, even before the food truck concept became popular. Great Chimis, true Dominican empanadas and pure selection of Dominican Juices... Keep up the good work!

Linabelle W.

Yelp
To start with, I am Dominican (born and raised in the DR). I hardly find a place that has Dominican street food in Miami (if you have any please let me know). My husband and I tried the food from this place, after reading on the news paper about it. Honestly, there is nothing to brag about it. The chimis are not tasty enough, the picalonga is very expensive for what it is and the juices are pure sugar, the only thing I may have again is the pork chimi. I just wish I could go to the DR and have a real chimi.
