China Club HK

Overall, the experience at China Club was quite disappointing. It might appeal more to foreigners, but from a Chinese food perspective, I don’t really see the point of coming here just for the food. The dim sum was very average, the roasted suckling pig didn’t stand out, and the sweet and sour pork was also underwhelming. The dishes felt more about presentation and atmosphere than actual flavor. If you’re looking for good Chinese food, there are definitely much better options elsewhere.

Was invited to dinner here , you are in a historical building for Bank of China . There are 3 floors, dining room , bar and the library / outdoor roof top area for drinks . You can get quite a nice view of the surrounding . We were in a private room and hence did not get to sit in main dining area to listen to the live band . The Peking duck was crispy and they serve it here with some meat . The skin was soft and chewy The crispy roast chicken was nice too, not too tough. Another standout was the eggplant and minced pork, packed with flavors . For desserts they have soya beancurd and other variety .

Extremely rude staff especially at the long march. I used to love coming here all the time, but my family and I won’t be coming back again. Avoid. Re-train your staff in simple manners please. Decent vibes on the roof and good food though.

We were lucky enough to visit the exclusive China Club in the old Bank of China building. You do need special membership to enter. The food at the China Club was tasty and super expensive, overpriced for what it was. But this was made up for by the setting, an ornate dining room, beautiful crockery and A grade service. It has plenty of character. The art in this establishment was very cool and there is an awesome rooftop bar view with a stunning outlook over Kowloon bay.

Great dining experience! Members only club. Master noodle maker demonstrates his skills nightly. It’s a must see if your fortunate enough done in this exclusive restaurant. And of course have the Peking duck.

China Club, owned by David Tang from Shanghai Tan, houses some absolutely stunning artwork and antiques. Reminds of me an old Shanghai club, not that I've ever been to shanghai. But its exactly how I would imagine Shanghai looking like in the 20s. Great place to take friends from out of town on the weeknights when HK is a bit quiet because no matter what day you come, its always lively and packed in here. Food wise its only ok, a bit overpriced in my opinion. But the beautiful artwork definitely makes it worth visiting !

Pretty cool building and old historical feeling. Interesting art in the walls, wooden stair cases. Their bar inside and rooftop pretty cool. The rooftop bar doesn't offer a full view of the harbor but still on a nice night is quite cool. Service solicitous of course. These places that harken back to colonialism are beautiful but also make me a little uncomfortable. Anyhow this place is beautiful inside and I wasn't in the mood to drink and had their lemon lime bitters drink which was refreshing. Our friend who had membership took us and it was a unique experience. Unfortunately a group of people on the roof were constantly smoking cigars and cigarettes - not used to that coming from the states since you can't smoke even in open air areas of bars at home.

The China Club is a members only club in the old Bank of China Building in Central. It super cool and a real HK experience, so try to find a buddy with a membership and convince them to take you for dinner! The club has; an interior bar and terrace bar, with great views across Central Hong Kong overlooking the new Bank of China building, a restaurant which not only serves food, but has a dinner theatre of noodle making and tea performances, and a number of private dining/entertaining rooms. They also have an amazing collection of art adorning the walls, you could come here for the art alone! The food is excellent. I recommend the BBQ pork which is succulent and naturally tasty (doesn't feel over marinated with sauces), and the "Portuguese" chicken, which is baked to perfection, and spiced yet mild and creamy. The drinks are unfortunately a bit disappointing. Wines, beers and spirits aside, the cocktails and mixed drinks are pretty average. Yes, I would actually like some G in my G&T. The door staff are great. There is a dress code, including no trainers, collared shirts for the gents, you get the idea. I actually once arrived in t-shirt and trainers, and they kindly lent me a jacket to wear. Yes it was an 80's double breasted affair, but did the job. They also didn't bat an eyelid at the plastic bag of wet pants (British pants not American!) that I had, instead rather graciously took them into the bag check. The other staff at the bars were somewhat surly, in that very old school Hong Kong way. Just take it with a pinch of salt and let them grumble whilst you enjoy the roast pork and the cool jackets. So go and make it your mission to find a friend with membership. Like that famous shampoo, you're totally worth it.

Fantastic dim sum in a nice environment The food: I came for lunch and had standard dim sum. Everything is beautifully served. The shrimp dumplings were delicious - the skin was thin and the shrimp had great flavor. The egg tarts were also delicious. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Environment: what really makes this restaurant is the vibe. I lack the energy or time to explain the history of this place but it is worth reading about before you go. Tl;dr - this club was started by Sir David Tang, a famous HK tycoon. The dining room is loaded with communist artwork, mostly centered around Mao. But after looking at the collection of artwork with greater depth, you'll find that it is really quite cheeky cuz Sir David Tang, a brilliant entrepreneur, was far from a communist. You will find subtle digs toward the Mao regime and soon see that the Maoist environment is purposely contrived to be a caricature of a high-class dining space from decades past. To dine here, you need to be with a member of the club. See if your friend/club-member can give you a tour of the top floors of the club, as there is more artwork and a beautiful bar patio.

Soo what can I say about this place, the ambience and decor of this place was absolutely brilliant, it really felt like we had been thrown back in time. Everything from the table, the attire and the feel of the place felt authentic. The staff were very accommodating, not just at the restaurant and bar, but just walking around. The food, we had gone for dimsum, was pretty good. We had also curry fish balls, which were great, garlic steak which I absolutely loved, pineapple seafood fried rice, which was on point, sweet and sour prawns which were delicious. For dessert we had mango pudding which was very good, layered cake which I wasn't a fan of, and their 8 ingredient tea, which was poured by a guy with a very long tea spout. It was actually pretty good for tea and I'm not a tea person. Overall the experience was good and the food was above average. Attire is business formal though so that was kind of a bummer since I only packed a cardigan and had to wear boat shoes but was still let in (luckily)! Lots of business types in the place, makes sense though considering it's location.

A private members club that is well worth visiting. Booking is essential for the Saturday buffet. There is a dress code. The food is spectacular. Unlike traditional buffet, there are new dishes being brought out continually. The standard and quality of food is superb. As they say if you have to ask how much, you probably won't like the price. But considering the dishes served, I think it is a fair price. Dishes include conche, prawns, fish, lobster, duck, chicken, crab claws, hand made noodles to name a few.

Cantonese restaurant in Central HK. The place has a very unique décor made of eclectic artworks and historical Chinese paintings. Food is standard good across the board. Would recommend coming here for the ambience / bring out of town guests to but for the food itself, you can find much better ones elsewhere.

This place is key when in Hong Kong! Pros: the unbelievable, beautiful setting is remarkable. The terrace has a great view! Oh yes, and the Peking Duck is out of this world! Cons: it's very hard to get a reservation! Tips: take champagne up to the roof before dinner!

My friend had her rehearsal dinner here last night and it was incredible. The decor of the place is out of this world. It is so elegant and the rooftop/ terrace has great city views. The duck was the best thing I've ever had in HK! It was exquisite as was all of the food that was provided. The service was incredible and overall it's been the highlight of my culinary experience in Hong Kong thus far. Definitely returning for my next trip!

I had the chance to visit the China Club yesterday and it was a great experience. I was very much looking forward to it for various reasons, one of them being the art collection on display all around. I wasn't disappointed. We arrived there a little early for our reservation but the table was ready for us. As we sat down, we couldn't help but looking around and checking out small details...the embroidered napkins, the wine glasses, even the chopsticks! We were sat just by the main stage and five minutes into our meals there was live music on, which added to the experience. We ordered three dishes to start with: the barbecue pork, Angus diced beef with garlic and the cod with crispy beans. As we rolled our eyes in pleasure we made a decision: the pork was the best pork dish we had ever tried, fatty, sweet, soft (danm I'm getting hungry!). And I don't recall the name of the spicy sauce on the table, but give it a go, it's delicious. The beef is really something else. It's a must, really. Just after dinner the noodle chef came on stage and performed his show. And shortly after we left to check out the library and the bar. I fell in love with the bar; for a second, you're somewhere else. Unfortunately we couldn't check out the library because there was an event going on...oh well! We came back to the main stairs and kept looking at the art pieces. It's impressive. Overall, a really nice evening spent at China Club so if you have the chance to go sometime, just do it. Worth it. And order the barbacue pork.

You feel like your back in time. The restaurant and staff were fantastic. The food was amazing and the view was perfect. We were able to see the skyline light show while having dinner. The art is fantastic and the outside roof time was great for drinks before or after. You must be a member to get in or know one or have an America. Express card to book a table.

best experience for an out of towner if you know a member here. dinner theatre performances will impress guests. dim sum lunch also great. members only always makes you feel privileged, probably enhancing the experience. walls adorned with interesting art.

I was invited here by a friend for lunch. The dim sum was outstanding. The decor and environment were exceptional and the wait staff was very responsive. One of the best meals I've had in Hong Kong, ever!
