The food - if you can call it that was GARBAGE. We ordered four entrees - including Egg Foo Yong and Orange Chicken, Kong Pow Chicken, Mu-Shu Chicken. Our cost was more than $80.00... Well, that was $80.00 that went into the trash... Literally we threw each entre into the trash. The 'Egg Foo Yong' (cakes) was made from left-overs; they were so hard and stiff you could use them to build with. The Orange Chicken was from 'boxed' breaded chicken and a container of orange-colored jello-like substance. The Kong Pow Chicken was so disgusting looking we did not venture to try it - into the trash it went. The Mu-Shu Chicken was made from pre-packaged substances.... Nothing we purchased was cooked fresh. It was apparent that all was from pre-packaged... Its clear that these people are not cooking anything... They are just serving 'heat & serve' junk.... I remember when 'Chinese Food' was prepared fresh. Despite telling them we came here to try them, because we were not patronizing others for the same 'non-cooking' reason.... The person who waited on us lied and said there food was 'cooked fresh'.... Such a liar. I/We love to cook and have decided "No more bad Chinese food"... We will cook what we want... or eat only at the few Chinese buffets that actually do cook.

The food was delicious and the service was superb! The food temperature was hot, freshly made, not reheated. I highly recommend this place.

Google
Best value and quality of Chinese food I know of within the Portland metro area. The lunch special Chicken with Mixed Vegetables contains well over 3 lbs of very tasty food. Easily 2 meals for one adult. Price is reasonable - $11.75 for everything. With the Entree comes moist pork fried rice, silky lo-mein noodles, 2 crab cheese puffs, a choice between 2 soups, 2 fortune cookies, and any extra condiments you want. Quick and friendly service and usually more than 10 minutes of wait time.

Google
The food you get from here is very filling I cannot eat everything in one setting. Very pleased with whatever we order.

XERONOMOUS

Google
As soon as I walked in, the lady at the front desk had her mouth stuffed with eggroll. She sat me down at a table, and gave me water and the menu while chewing her food and talking with her mouth full. When she came back to take my order I asked her what she would recommend out of the 4 cheapest lunch combos (their other plates averaged $16-$20 for lunch). She told me they were out of bbq pork and directed me to 3 combos out of the 20 combos they had cause thats all they could make. I decided to go elsewhere to eat. Very poor experience for only being there for 2 minutes

Google
Really good bq pork and the mushroom beef is the best I have had in Vancouver.

Google
I ordered a special combo. It was lot of food. I think it's for two personnels. I liked atmosphere. It has bar too. In my next visit, I'd like to eat at bar with a drink.

Google
I have been getting the daily special which has not changed in 6yrs and still going. It is quite possibly the best thing I have discovered in Vancouver and I've been here my whole life. Egg Foo Young is bomb.

Yelp
I've been hearing such great things about this place and finally decided to stop in tonight. The restaurant was quiet and empty when we arrived. We were seated right away and the young gentleman working nice and so accommodating. We ordered 2 diff dinner combos and an order of crab puffs. The restaurant got busy with several phone calls for to-go orders while we waited for our food. I was surprised to see how large the portions were. Everything was tasty. Will most likely come back and try other dishes.

Yelp
I placed a pickup order through their website with doordash. Walked in to pick up my order to an empty dining room and stood and waited almost 5 min before anyone came out to see me. The website said the eggrolls were minced pork and veggies ... well mine had shrimp. Glad I do not have an allergy. Also ordered the kung pao lunch special. The pork fried rice was almost flavorless less the stale taste. Same for the noodles. The kung pao chicken was the best of the lot. Still not great ... but not bad. Good mix of veggies. But I will not be back.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food, which is not easy to find in our part of the country: the PNW. Classic restaurant feeling, smells like delicious food.

Yelp
They have amazing wonderful food and very hardy portions. I love this place they are very yummy!!

Yelp
Amazing food and great place to take the family. Favorite dish was the orange chicken.

Anthony M.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in Vancouver area. Love sitting in the restaurant, it's almost always empty. Everyone either gets takeout or sits in the bar. We always get excellent service.

Sue T.

Yelp
The reason for the one star is because they are closed. It says they're open but we drove there and they're closed and not answering their phone. I don't know if they're closed for good or not.

Anita Jo F.

Yelp
First it took 49 minutes to get my order then the food was ice cold! Worst place ever for GOOD Chinese food!Definitely thumb's DOWN

Yelp
I ordered from China Cook in Vancouver Washington kung Pao chicken which has peanut. One of the reasons I really like this dish is for the peanuts which add crunch. I called while eating this dish and they China Cook didn't care and said nothing they can do. They have ok food not the best Chinese food in Vancouver. Now with that no care attitude i will not order from there again.

Yelp
This is my #1 favorite Chinese food restaurant in the greater Portland/Vancouver metro area. Nothing fancy but not everything needs to be fancy. This is a solid, family run business with huge portions, delicious food and nice bartenders. They have the biggest egg rolls I've ever seen in my life! I really like their vegetable tofu, pork fried rice, vegetable lo mein & the crab puffs. I've only ever sat on the bar side of the restaurant so I'm sorry there's no pictures but if you're in the area and want Chinese, I'd strongly recommend checking this spot out!

Alex R.

Yelp
My rule is I'll try anything twice and though I wasn't super impressed the first time, I gave it another go. The only redeeming factor is huge portions, but the food doesn't taste great. The chow mein is possibly the most disappointing version I've ever had, insanely soggy dish. Not sure what I'm missing from these good reviews but I likely will never find out.

Claude B.

Yelp
A top five Chinese restaurant in the Vancouver area. Great egg foo young. My broccoli beef was hot and well seasoned.

Yelp
I'm surprised the ratings are so low but maybe it's all about what you order. The honey walnut shrimp here by far is the best when comparing to a lot of the other local Chinese delivery food options. The shrimp taste fresh and they're so large in size - they're pork fried rice is also good.

Yelp
First and last... We were looking for a good Chinese Food restaurant near by. We came in because of the great yelp reviews. As we were coming closer, I was already very if-y to come in. It looked very run down. Right when we came in, I noticed the old dirty floors and carpet... I really wanted to turn away and not eat here but I came with a group and we walked to the restaurant. My first reaction to the restaurant is that it definitely needs to be redone. The furniture is outdated and it seemed very gloomy. There needs to be more lighting as it is so dim. They need A LOT of cosmetic upgrades especially in the bathroom. They do however have two televisions on each side of the room. I would rate the environment about a 1 to 2. The pros about the restaurant is it's customer service. Our waiter was very attentive and enthusiastic. We had a ton of left overs and she boxed and bagged it for us. The prices are great. I would rate customer service a 5. Now to the food... the portions are HUGE! My sister and I shared a lunch special of pineapple chicken that came with egg flower soup, cream cheese wonton (2), pork fried rice and vegetable lo mein. The chicken was okay, it didn't stand out and I've had better chicken. My friends ordered a bunch of other food which I posted but did not try. We did question the chow mein as it was full of vegetables and no noodles. My meal was pretty decent especially for the price ($7.95) I would rate the food a 3.5. Overall, I would not eat here again. Personally, I need to feel comfortable in my environment. I would say if they updated everything, they would receive more business and I would consider coming back. Although the food wasn't horrific, it made me question the food as well if the restaurant looks like this. FYI: The lunch special is only until 3 PM. The prices ranged from $7.95 to $8.55

Yelp
This place is old school, previously Bills chicken and steak in the past.I've eaten here twice in the lounge and the beef lo mien is the best I've ever had.The waitress is always nice and helpful.I just don't understand why they don't stay open later.

Shanice P.

Yelp
Had an insane craving for lo mein and decided to give this place a try. Immediately spit it out. Absolutely disgusting nothing I ordered was worth going back for. The sweet and sour chicken was especially heinous I'm not even sure this pig slop can be considered chicken. Just fried balls of batter with what I think is squirrel meat. Never again. Do better china cook.

Yelp
This is one of our go to restaurants the Salt and Pepper Shrimp is amazing, the Egg Foo Young is very good, Pork Chow Main is wonderful the staff works really hard

Yelp
Previous good reviews and recommendations from 2 friends prompted us to try this place. High noon and an empty restaurant.....first red flag. I ordered General Tso's Chicken and asked if they could add a bit of broccoli to it. The waitress replied "No". That's it. No. I then said I just wanted chicken and broccoli with a spicy sauce. Wasn't possible. Instead of saying they would charge extra for the broccoli or something, it was just NO. So weird. So I ordered a bowl of hot and sour soup. My husband ordered a beef and vege dish and shared a bit with me. We both agreed it was the most flavorless Chinese food we had ever eaten...not a hint of flavor! Some sesame oil, chili oil, SOMETHING would have helped. Really, really bad. My initial reaction when ordering and being rudely treated was to leave and go to House of Beijing, so sorry we didn't. We rarely eat out. Such a disappointment.

Yelp
Dive bar Chinese food restaurant that is the best in the city. Finally found good Americanized Chinese food in the 'Couve. It will our regular go to.

Yelp
We love China cook and eat it multiple times a month. Great tasting food. Great portions. The green bean chicken is a certified banger. Also- the pot stickers. Say no more fam.

Yelp
We just found this restaurant online last week and I wrote a review. Well, I had to check and see if it was as good as the first time and since it was pretty hot out, I decided I didn't want to cook. I am definitely impressed again. Once again, I ordered walnut shrimp, and the shrimp was delicious, big juicy and a really nice amount and even the broccoli was crisp without being too crisp and not steamed and definitely not soggy at all so total thumbs up for the second time also. I had to add a second meal so I ordered their Happy Family comes with pork fried rice, barbecued pork, chicken, beef, shrimp and scallops, mixed in with a assortment of vegetables in a brown sauce. This was delicious...very tasty nothing was overly cooked and the brown sauce was not so strong that it overpowered everything and all the meat tasted like the sauce ...you could taste the beef, the shrimp, the scallops and I like this place just for the quality of the ingredients. So many places use those tiny little bay scallops, these were nice large, ocean scallops - my favorite. Another problem sometimes with restaurants is that they overcook both the shrimp and the scallop. Absolutely not here .....both times the walnut shrimp was big and juicy. The scallops here were delicious. I get a decent serving size AND not sure how they do it, but everything was piping hot as if they were delivering it to the table. I am looking forward to introducing my friends and family to this place in the future.

Yelp
Second time we have been here and were happy with it. The hot and sour soup is excellent and the egg foo young my wife picked was great. The place was clean and waitress was friendly. I ordered veggies which came with noodles/rice but I am not a noodle fan. Will have to go back and check them out again but the egg foo young is the go to dish as I see it.

Yelp
We got delivery through Grubhub. The food is so good. Got the sweet and sour tofu which is breaded and fried. Get the sauce on the side and it is delivered crispy. The spring rolls are super tasty. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We found this place during that fateful year of 2020, when the only way to get food was take out. Even takeout was hard to come by. The food is some of the best Chinese I've had. You wouldn't know the food is so good considering the area and the building itself. They have some combos and menu items that aren't the same ol', same old. The texture, and taste of the menu items is great. I will say that Chinese food is always best in a restaurant, and the same applies here. Do yourself a favor and try the food in the restaurant and meet Kevin. He is a great guy and takes good care of you. Try the Shanghai Noodles, the potstickers, the pineapple chicken.......

Yelp
House fried rice and crab puffs are so good!! The crab puff are actually stuffed with crab and cheese not just all breading!!

Russ R.

Yelp
Decided to compare it to our favorite, House of Beijing. Got there at noon on a weekday, only one other person in the restaurant. Ordered my lunch, server refused to do a substitution for my wife .. "no substitutions". She ordered a cup of soup instead. Food was tasteless, server was rude, zero ambiance, back to House of Beijing for us. I've seen excellent reviews about this place, don't know what happened.
google avatar

Marie K.

Yelp
The food is delicious. Me and my wife ordered take out and it did take about 20 minutes for our order to be ready but it was worth the wait. Our food was cooked fresh and was absolutely amazing. I ordered the combination dinner #10 (General Taos, pork fried rice, shrimp & an egg roll) and my wife ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp which was served on a fresh bed of perfectly steamed broccoli and a side of steamed rice. The service was great and I will definitely be returning very soon. :)

Yelp
If you need to eat at a place in an upscale neighborhood, drive on by. Yes the alphabet district in the "Couv is iffy. Naturally "iffy" provides interesting opportunities for food and drink (Victor 23, Sellberg's Tavern, Rosemere Tavern) . No cookie cutter joints here. If you can get by with solid and tasty, this is the place for you. CC and I are in a state of ongoing negotiations as to how hot is HOT enough in re: their Kung Pao Chicken. I'm confident mutual diplomacy will get us to my preferred sweat-runs-down-the-back-of-my-neck hot. Having said that, there isn't another place that I know of in Clark County that makes a KPC worth rescuing. China Cook is the great Far East hope! The rest of the menu items I've tried are all above average, and you're almost guaranteed leftovers as the portions are substantial. Oh, the prices are reasonable but you'd likely guessed that already. This place is better than 4 stars, and when we reach an acceptable level of ecstasy in our Kung Pao wrangling I'm betting China Cook will be a fiver.

Haleem A.

Yelp
Shrimp egg foo young and egg drop soup was great, I had no complaints, the Rangoon's were also pretty decent.

Yelp
The first time I came to this place I ordered a family meal which included general Taos chicken. The cooking technique used on that chicken blew my mind. The chicken was tender in the middle and it had the thinnest amount of crispy breading. The sauce however was way to sweet. But having won me over I returned to this place on many occasions. A previous reviewer described how he received a piece of pork that had been refried and served to him. I too have received that, and let me tell you it was awful. The cook also tends to put old BBQ pork in a lot of dishes. From the hot and sour soup to the pork fried rice and the happy family noodles. In any of these dishes you may get an old piece of pork and hopefully it hasn't turned yet. This is laziness on the kitchen staff. On a more positive note, the potstickers here are amazing. They are handmade and seasoned perfectly. I swear the owner should ditch half of his menu and just make a variety Chinese dumplings. Another specialty dish this place offers, and has always been executed perfectly, is the Mar Far chicken. Like I said before, the cook's technique frying chicken is near perfect. He serves his Marfar chicken with a sauce which is a combination of all Chinese sauces but it's pretty good, it's like a Chinese Chick-fil-A sauce. I finally had enough and stopped going here. This place has a $25 minimum delivery fee. In past experiences I have always been able to work with the person taking orders. For example they would let me order a half order of potstickers or crab puffs or even a half order of MarFar chicken to get me over the $25 mark. But last time I tried to order from here some lady with a thick accent would not let me get a half order of anything and she expected me to just pay unquestionably for an additional item I didn't want. Well here's a question for that lady "how happy is your boss now that he's not getting my money anymore?" I'd like to tell that lady "HEY,I don't have to eat there." I took my business to the silver dragon down the street and will continue to do so.

Yelp
The best Chinese on the west Coast I've had - certainly the best in the Northwest. Really good, super nice people and very inexpensive.

Yelp
When it comes to good food this place is hard to beat, our go to place for Chinese food. Another visit. Waiter took my order wrong and when brought it to his attention, he acted like it was my fault. Not good customer Another visit food is even better.

Yelp
I've been a customer since they have opened and it has has gone Down hill:( the inside of the restaurant and bar needs to be throughly deep cleaned a fresh paint! The food is still great! Please clean up after COVID! We need you to survive!

Yelp
Decent Chinese food. Close to where I live and portions are good. I recommend their General tso and coconut chicken. Typical American Chinese food but good portions and prices. Will be back They don't include soup for takeout if you order dinner combo meals it's only for dine in.
google avatar

Maryjane S.

Yelp
Best Mongolian beef and Sesame beef in Vancouver. I crave it and lots of left overs.
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
Made an online order 15 minutes before they stopped taking orders. They literally waited the entire order out until the allotted time and said i could not order anymore. Any excuse to be lazy i guess.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Disgusting. We spent $60 on food just to throw it out. Ordered food to go that we picked up and ended up throwing it down the garbage disposal because it tasted so bad, not like mediocre Chinese which we would have eaten, but like there was something wrong with it. It didn't taste spoiled, just disgusting, like it was cooked in a filthy kitchen and smelled kind of like filth.

Josie M.

Yelp
This is NOT the same CHINA COOK ! I live in the neighborhood and have faithfully gone there since their opening in 2014. I only went their from my first time Till yesterday. I believe they are under new management.? Spent $40 and none of it good. Went from good Chinese to bad Chinese! They should be keeping the food up to par or better.
google avatar

Wendy T.

Yelp
Weirdest chow mein I've ever had in my life. Flavors aren't bad but they should really explain what chow mein means. I was expecting noodles--- I got a crap ton of veggies (mainly bean sprout) stir fried and poured over a bed of crispy noodles you normally see as a garnish. I got lunch combo B. Large portions. I'm here at 11:40 on a Wednesday and I'm the only one in the restaurant and the only car in the lot. INNNNNTERESTING!

Debby W.

Yelp
I've been going to China Cook since they opened several years ago and they've been consistently good. I'm bummed that we can't eat there because we have had a large group there to celebrate Chinese New Year's for the past 4 years. They have always been super friendly and accommodating. I ordered four dishes for take out the other day and the food is still really good. The salt and pepper shrimp are much better fresh/eaten there but that's the problem with fried food and takeout. I also ordered the shitake mushroom beef, green beans and tofu, and house lo mein with the the egg noodles. Everything was really good. I was a little concerned when I read a recent review that suggested they had a change of hands but that's not the case. Same owners and same great food.
google avatar

Alison G.

Yelp
Disclaimer: this is for delivery only. China Cook is in my neighborhood, and my neighborhood is not fancy to say the least. The building doesn't look modern and I'm afraid if I go inside I won't want to eat there anymore, so be like me and just stick to delivery. We ordered China Cook delivery when we first moved here based on the Yelp reviews, and I was immediately impressed. I couldn't decide if I was just wearing rose-colored glasses (or eating with a rose-colored tongue I guess) because of the restaurant's proximity to my home and my need to love my neighborhood, or if the food was actually good. After ordering countless more times, I can confidently say: the food is THE BEST! We have ordered from Taste of China and it doesn't even come close. If you think TOC is better, you are wrong. The appetizers are all great--fried stuff is well-fried and the sizzling rice soup tastes SO CLEAN, I don't know another way to describe it. It's not at all greasy and is the perfect remedy for a cold (especially if you add lots of sriracha). The pot stickers are outstanding; they appear to be homemade and the filling-to-skin ratio is perfect. I usually stick to the fried string beans and they're always excellent. My only complaint is that if you order anything with pork, they give you the Chinese bbq pork, which I don't really like. Other than that, they are the best at everything they do--fried things stay crispy and the oil doesn't taste old. Sauces taste fresh and not overly oily. Meats aren't sketchy, and everything arrives hot. I see no need to try another Chinese place again now that I'm sure CC is legitimately (not just proximately) good!

Desiree O.

Yelp
It was good until I found a bug in our food. General Sao. My mom and brother ate here all the time. Not sure if I want to go back.

Terri T.

Yelp
My husband and I picked up take out from here for the first time and it was very good. I had Almond Fried Chicken, my favorite and husband had Sweet and Sour Shrimp, both not too heavily breaded and the breading was very crisp with plenty of meat inside. They are huge portions, at least 2 serving for each. The gravy and Sweet and Sour sauce were in separate containers and plenty of it, so the food won't get soggy. They came with a large container of steamed rice. I will be going back. It is hard to find Almond Fried Chicken here so after reading reviews we chose China Cook and it is close to home. Thanks for the great dinner.

Yelp
Seriously the best Singapore Style Noodles I have ever had! It may be a little hole in the wall but amazing food and the sweetest bar tender! Love this place!!!

Yelp
Came here for lunch and they had great prices! We got there when it opened and the lady was super nice! Plus, plenty of parking! The lunch comes with soup, lo mein and fried rice. IMO, the lo mein is really more of a chow mein noodle (the thick type). Both the rice and the noodles were the standard taste anywhere else. My mom got the Cashew Shrimp and I got the Beef Broccoli. Both of them were fantastic!!! My mom said she was looking for a new go to Chinese place and said this was it. The portions were also very generous and a family style meal here would be awesome to do.
