China Crown (Madrid)

We had a wonderful experience at China Crown in Madrid. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service was excellent from start to finish. Reservations are definitely a must. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with plenty of great vegetarian options. We asked our waiter to recommend a selection of vegetarian dishes, and every single one was fantastic. We’re not all vegetarians, and our non-vegetarian friends loved their dishes even more — if that’s possible! Overall, it’s a fantastic place for a special meal. Highly recommended!

A bit expensive way to get from being in a good mood to not so happy feeling at the end of the meal. It took them 20 minutes to find out that the entry that I ordered was not available, in addition to already having waited a bit to order in the first place. The duck magret arrived with nothing to accompany it, just meat with cloying sauce. It did not occur to the waiter to suggest a side dish, mind you that in the menu no side dishes are even mentioned. What a treat of a meal. The only food that I did enjoy was the complimentary appetizer. I was served a huge bottle of water for 5 euros, and the cover charge was another "nice" detail.

The restaurant is beautiful, the food slightly underwhelming (particularly the pudding, which left a lot to be desired) but perhaps I didn’t order correctly. The staff are very lovely and the experience was overall delightful. I will be returning to see if my opinion changes.

I recently visited China Crown Restaurant and really enjoyed the food. I had the chance to try a variety of dim sum, and each one had a unique and delicious flavor. My absolute favorites were the langousteria dim sum and the one made with Iberian pork — both were incredibly tasty and well-prepared. For the main course, I ordered the classic langousteria and the sea bass with a special sauce. Both dishes were amazing — full of flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. The restaurant was quite crowded and a bit noisy during my visit, but overall, the experience was very enjoyable thanks to the excellent food. I’d definitely come back again.

Overall average experience. I had high expectations for the food and was missing familiar flavours. We had the tasting menu, which was meant to portray the best of the menu. I felt the dishes were too fast and didn’t leave time to enjoy flavours. If you enjoy quick servings this is perfect. My partner enjoyed the appetiser but I felt they were not fresh. Most of the other dishes are not something I’d mention as they didn’t not wow me. The xiao long and dim sum were average and if you want something that will remind you of the Chinese Xiao long bao this will not. The yuxiang eggplant with pickled chili was my favourite and would definitely recommend. The most disappointing dish was the pecking duck, as they forget to bring the pancakes to go with the dish. By the time we got them, the duck was cold and dry. If you have an allergy make sure to tell them as they do not ask. The staff were lovely but will only be there to bring food or drink. Lovely atmosphere and setting, if you have not traveled to Asian countries the food is a nice introduction.

I had high expectations of this place after visiting almost all of its direct competitors in the city(high end, 60€+p/p Chinese restaurants). I was disappointed! Didn't find the quality of the plates as good as I expected except for the duck that was good. The decor is nice, nothing crazy. The service is very professional and adequate for the prices on the menu. Won't be back!

actually came here due to targeted marketing on-line. i was not disappointed. everything was good. the duck is delicious. the dumplings were awesome. the rice also very good. so good that we ordered take-out the next day. would happily go back any day. would recommend.

Great experience with amazing service (the guys are very kind and helpful and willing to go further). The food is great in specially some dishes: dimsum variety are super good and duck is also very well cooked!! I would come back to try different dishes!
