I wanted to order food online for pick up. But I couldn't find broccoli! Then I called the store. I asked a few questions. The lady answered me impatiently! She hung up before I finished speaking. I thought the store must be very busy. . I arrived at the store in 15 minutes! The food was not ready. I waited another 15 minutes. In the store, I saw the lady arguing with a customer. Half an hour later, I finally got my food! I ate half of it and saw a bug. So disgusting. I called the store to ask for a refund. The lady also argued with me! No refund! Even though I said I could take the food back! The attitude was also very tough and no refund! The food was not delicious. The hygiene was not up to standard! Not recommended。 Update. The owner responded to my review. Said they were not busy at all. Yes. When I asked the lady on the phone! She hung up before I finished speaking! I thought the restaurant was busy. I thought. I never said she was the old lady? Tried to say I didn't place the order with her.. Very bad attitude! Owen(owner ) should be the lady at the front desk. Will not be back. Not recommended. I will also post it on Facebook to tell all family and friends!

You know how those days are, where you need a little quiet time. It's back to school weekend where we raise the little people at church to their parallel Sunday school grade - great bunch of kids. A gracious plenty - then to Grandma's for a TV crime mystery. I just needed a quick pop-in for lunch. China Express is easy to find out by Rucker LN and Franklin RD immediately abutting Cinco de Mayo. It's quick, it's clean, it's easy, it's quite. And parking and ingress and egress is no trouble. You might even find a spot with shade from a tree if the luck holds out. Mongolian Chicken and fried rice - a staple in Chinese-American food was the spot hitting grub of today. The combo plate actually. Generous portions served hot. I know everyone likes to see perfect scores but one suggests perfection. And anyone who follows knows I do try to offer feedback in a polite and helpful way. And food served cool/warm will cost a star ⭐. But, that wasn't the case today. If you like yours hot like I do - check the steam out in the video clip. It really was a great lunch after a full delightful morning. After, I had no trouble slipping off into Sunday afternoon nap mode.

Google
Shrimp Fried Rice was awesome. Cashier was friendly, and the food was ready once I walked thru the door. In and Out!!

This place is my new takeout place! Really love the proportions and the food! Taste very good and always looks fresh. The daughter of the owner is very nice and always treats you good. Shes very friendly and always starts a conversation with you. Lol.

Google
The absolute worst Chinese food I’ve ever had and I’ve lived all over the country. The chicken is 90% soggy breading and 10% actual chicken. Fried rice is very dry. Spring rolls are half the size of your finger and over $2 for 2. Kids wouldn’t eat the yum yum sauce, because it tasted weird.

Google
Eaten here 4 times. The food IS good. My only gripe is all the chicken dishes are breaded and deep fried. I didn't expect that with Kung Pao to be honest. There aren't any Tofu dishes either which would be nice to pretend to be healthy once in a while. lol Owner lady is so super nice and friendly and they have the requisite child doing homework most times I've been in. So big bonus there. IYKYK

Google
We order here quite frequently, but this will be no more. This is my 2nd time of finding a piece of metal in my lo mein. The first was a tiny fraction, which I overlooked, but this piece is bigger..it’s alarming that I almost ate this & could’ve wound up in the hospital if indigested. If ordering from here, please make sure to check your food thoroughly!!!

Google
Im so happy with the extra dark fried rice, the pepper steak is on the money. Boneless spare ribs are very good. I've been looking for good Chinese food in Murfreesboro for very a year. Now I've found it.

Yelp
We visit this place when we're in Murfreesboro and the people here are so sweet and the food is delicious. It's a small place but always clean and the food is authentic. I love that they stay open later than most other restaurants and take-out places. Definitely deserves more stars.

Stephanie H.

Yelp
We ordered door dash tonight from this place, it's hard to find a good chinese place. Everything was hot and fresh and really exceeded my expectations. Thank you!

Mark Phillips ..

Yelp
Great food, good prices, good portions, very clean inside. Usually very fast for pickup. Even when they take a little longer, they're obviously working their asses off. Best Chinese food in Murfreesboro and some of the best Ive had anywhere.

Yelp
The Chicken and Cashew lunch special was delicious. Great service makes for a happy customer

Yelp
If you are vegan or vegetarian, this place has the best sesame tofu. It has now become my newest favorite option for takeout. The service is friendly and fast. They are very efficient. I will be a repeat customer.

Yelp
Very small business with a big heart! this business has been ran from an amazing family for the last several years. I have known them very well as I have ordered time and time again. High recommend coming by and getting food.

Yelp
We order China Express at least three times a month! We love their fast take out service. Ever time I call in an order, the are so courteous and helpful. When I get my food home, it's always fresh and hot! When I ask for no onions in my stir fry rice, they always get it right! The portions are plenty, we always enjoy the leftovers for another meal. The prices did go up a bit since Covid but than again, whose didn't! Still great value for your money. I highly recommend this business. In my opinion, it is the best take out Chinese food for the value!

Yelp
Honestly don't understand why this isn't rated higher. The sweetest little family runs this business, and they're amazing. Their food is fresh and light. The place is kept clean, and has clean bathrooms. Been there a couple times now and it's hands down one of the best spots in Murfreesboro if not the best.

Yelp
I'm not sure it's the best in town, but they sure do give you enough for two. Portion size are big. Phone in my orders and pick up in 15mins and they had it ready when I got there. Close enough to home for my lazy days of not cooking. Had a large egg drop soup. Soup broth was a bit bland that needed the extra pepper and salt to it. Happy Family meal comes with steam rice, chicken, beef, and seafoods stir fry. Cooked in simple brown sauce.

Yelp
My wife and I have been looking for a reasonably priced Chinese carryout place that we liked since moving here from northern Illinois. On the recommendation of some friends, we tried China Express. It was a good sign when we arrived and there was a line... I had the Mongolian Beef and my wife had the sesame chicken. The beef was the best I've had in Murfreesboro and definitely ranks high on my "best ever" list. Just the right amount of spice for my taste, served with fried rice and carefully packed and I mean "packed" into a reusable takeout container. Portion size was on the larger size. In fact, I have the remainder of the sesame chicken for lunch today. We'll be back to sample more of the menu. The fifth star relates to the wait. There was a glitch that resulted in a longer wait than expected with several orders coming up at once.

Yelp
Great place with fast service and wonderful employees very helpful and so sweet! We order her all the time!

Yelp
First time ordering last time ordering!! My food was drenched in sauce egg roll was very cold inside. The crab Rangoon is little square so your not really getting much. The hibachi chicken and steak was the worst part .Very little chicken or steak and it definitely didn't taste good .

Yelp
This was a welcome surprise. we were travelling south on I-24 and wanted Chinese Buffet. We searched for Chinese and saw this (It is not a buffet), but we were hoping that it was. We were a little disappointed when we realized this fact upon arrival, but none the less we had already driven a few miles off the interstate to get here. I'm very glad we did. The place looks fairly new and clean. The lady taking our order was very friendly and attentive. We had Won Ton soup, Hot & Sour soup, crab Rangoon, and split the cashew chicken with fried rice. Everything was very tasty. The fried rice was some of the best I have ever had. The Crab Rangoon was prepared in a spring roll wrapper (something unusual to me) I really enjoyed it. The Hot and sour soup was good too but was lava hot & I had finished eating everything else before it cooled enough to enjoy it. All in all good food for a fair price.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
I ordered the crab Rangoon/cheese wontons. One of the best I've ever had. My main meal was honey chicken, which I enjoyed, but the chicken was still a little bland. Not as "honeyish" and sweet that i prefer. The prices are right and location is perfect. I'll try again soon and hopefully be blown away on my second visit.

Yelp
Just moved from out of state and I've been in search of a good Chinese take out. So I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try I ordered Beef LoMein and crab ragoons and both did not taste like real Chinese food. The noodles on the lo mein were stale and rubbery and the crab ragoons tasted nothing like the real ones, there was not a speck of crab meat nor flavor in it and the shell was made of an extremely thin layer of filo dough. I love Chinese fried rice but just by looking at the rices they make here its disappointing. Since when is the fried rice yellow??? I mean they should fry it in soy sauce and just that alone turns the rice to a brownish color. Plus where's the meat, eggs, bean sprouts and veggies???? I'm having such a hard time finding a good Chinese take out in the Boro.

Yelp
Honestly, some of the best quality Americanized Chinese food I've ever had in any city anywhere! I got delivery and it was hot, fresh, and super quick! I got the General Tso chicken and lo mein combo platters with pork fried rice and egg rolls. The egg rolls we're crunchy and tasty with not too much oil and grease covering it. The pork fried rice could have been a fantastic meal on its own as the rice was well seasoned and the roasted pork was tender and flavorful as can be. The lo mein was AMAZING and they didn't try to cheat you by making it 50% veggies and 50% noodles. It was probably 5% veggies and 95% noodles, the way I like it! It wasn't too salty or soy sauce covered with a really nice flavor. The noodles themselves had a good consistency to them as they were thick but soft and didn't have a grainy texture or mushy/soggy consistency that I've had with other places and even retained that after reheating them a few days later. Among this delectable spread, I'd have to say the General Tso was the best out of all the dishes I had. It was crispy on the outside (even after delivering to me from the other side of town) with tender, juicy, well-seasoned chicken on the inside. There wasn't too much batter at all and the sauce was sweet and tangy and spicy but not to where the sweetness outmatches the flavor if the chicken itself. 5/5 would recommend to anyone looking for a good price, large portions, and top quality Chinese American dishes!

Yelp
This is my favorite place for quick Chinese food. Love their General Tso's Chicken and the Boneless Spare Ribs. The staff is always friendly and the portions are generous.

Auntie R.

Yelp
They have the best Chinese food in town! Great food, always friendly service. Closed on Mondays.

Claire J.

Yelp
Very nice people but the food was typical takeout Chinese. Steak was so tough and chewy .. all rice was brown. Entrees came with fried rice with no way to request white rice .. fried potstickers were soggy. Crab Rangoons in egg roll paper .. honey chicken was very bland. Won't be back. We did get some free fried doughnuts though ...

Yelp
Told me 30 minutes and I've been here for and hour still no food and others have cam in and left that order after me wtf
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
Been eating here for years. Only complaint is that the General Tso is sometimes a little tough and they don't offer sweet and sour pork. Other than that 99% of the time I'm never disappointed.
google avatar

Cody C.

Yelp
The couple running the place started yelling. Then the man started beating the woman. It was loud. All the yelling was in chinese so I don't even know why they were mad. The food was okay. 3/10 would call the cops again.

Yelp
I just purchased some pork fried rice from there for the 1st time and it was horrible. Smelled and tasted like the oil they used was burned. Couldn't even eat it because I was afraid it was going to make me sick.

Addie H.

Yelp
I have been eating here for about a year now and the food has always been good. They give you good size portions and are quick. However, this past time I ordered a small egg drop soup and it had spots in it. I think it was mold but it could have possibly just been the bad brown part of an egg. I will not be eating here again because I don't want to risk eating mold.

Yelp
We've tried China Express twice. The first time we ordered hibachi steak and chicken. Got home and we were missing the chicken. I call to let them know and they just keep handing the phone to the next person as if no one can understand me. After minutes of explaining myself, I give up and just eat what I received - the hibachi steak was okay. So here's how the second visit went - we ordered chicken Chow Mein and we get home and open it up to find out there are no noodles whatsoever. If you google chow mein, you'll see that noodles are a main ingredient in this dish. Instead we received tons of onions, some cabbage, fried rice, and ra minimal amount of chicken. In conclusion, we won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Theee worst hibachi dishes ever ....I had chicken and steak the chicken was scorched and the steak was very tough like leather my wife had pepper steak and rice it had no taste....sorry but the worst food i will never eat here again..!!

Yelp
Visited for the first time tonight for pickup. Everything was great! Very fresh, tasty food and very large portions! Very clean and great seating. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
this was honestly one of my favorite places to eat when i lived here ! my dad and i would used to stop here every now and then and we loved it. we became regulars, and everyone there was just nice overall. they were really cool :) +++ the food was pretty tasty and they made it fresh !!

Yelp
Have been eating here for 2 years now and I would highly recommend the boneless spare rib combo. That's my go to but I always enjoy trying new thing. Even when they are busy they take care of your needs and make sure the food is outstanding! Don't question it, just try it out I promise you won't regret it.

Yelp
Just tried this place today. We ordered the General Tso's lunch combination (which came with very good Fried Rice and Egg Roll; that was not greasy). We also ordered the Wonton Soup. I have to say, this place was very good and I plan to return for sure! I grew up in both San Diego, CA and lived in Pennslyvania as well. I prefer East Coast style, specifically New York city, Chinese food. This was extremely close to the East Coast style I remember. The chicken was well cooked, breading had the right amount of crunch, and the oil didn't taste old and stale. Wonton soup broth was spot on and wontons were legit! I'm looking forward to my next time trying China Express.

Yelp
I tried this place tonight. It is nothing special, but pretty decent Chinese food. Then boneless spare ribs were good. General Tso chicken is usually a favorite of mine. This was just average.

Mike B.

Yelp
I love this place. I used to cook in a Chinese restaurant in Cincinnati along side some highly rated Chinese born chefs from Hong Kong and Canton so let me tell you these guys know what they are doing. We've gotten over a dozen orders from them since they opened and the food is ALWAYS fresh and consistent from portions to flavoring right down to the size of the meat and veg cut sizes. I've been there on busy days and slow days and always consistent service, meals and cleanliness. This is an Americanized menu so don't expect authentic cuisine but do expect consistency on every level. I'll give them the 5th star for a bowl of authentic octopus soup (which I am sure they could do.) Seriously though, I reserve my 5 star for non carry-out type place, but this crew deserves a 5 star compared to any other local carry out. Keep up the great work China Express.

Yelp
Great place to pick up some good Chinese food. We are able to call in a pick up within a few minutes. The service is great and very quick.

Yelp
We ordered beef sticks that were harder than shoe leather and black. Chicken sticks all dried out like leather, coconut chicken was just shaved chicken meat deep fried to a crunch and than a little sauce over the whole plate. Everything we ordered went in the trash, We called and told them this was awful and they hung the phone up on us. Don't go here. A lot better places to spend your hard earn money at,

Earl N.

Yelp
We have found management in this establishment to be very inflexible. On a recent order, management claimed I had ordered a large portion of rice. When I explained that that was not the case and that all I was asking for was the smaller portion size, management refused to adjust the size of our rice order . We will never frequent this particular restaurant again.

Yelp
I've been in the area for about a year and a half and am now regretting not trying this place sooner! I usually base my decision to try new food places on reviews and since this one didn't have many, I didn't. So I'm writing one! I've been driving across town for months for what I thought was the best Chinese food and tonight that place was out of rice (of all things right?). There are 2 closer to me and I know the other one (China garden) is not all that great. So I came to China express. The pork fried rice was awesome! I loved it, my picky fiance loved it and my pickier 4 year old ate his first and second serving! The egg roll was the best I've had in years, possibly ever! And I've tried a lot of different places in Murfreesboro, Nashville, spring hill and beyond! I had the general tso's and it was yummy too. No more driving across town for me! China express will be our new go to! Which is convenient because jets down the sidewalk is our go to pizza :-)

Brian M.

Yelp
First time I have eaten Chinese in about 10yrs and did so due to high rating. Food was average in my opinion. Kung pow chicken. Was not spicy and chicken bites were tiny.

Sammie O.

Yelp
I've been trying to find a good Chinese place for a while and I've decided to try this place out when they first opened down the street from me. The food is always fresh, it's very flavorful, and it taste more authentic then any other Chinese place I've tried here in Murfreesboro. I always get the crabmeat Rangoon because it's different than regular Rangoon, it has a pastry type of wrap that stays nice and crispy. Also, the filling has a little sweetness to it that isn't too powerful. The lo mein is also very good, the noodles aren't torn like other places, it's not salty and it has a nice little garlic taste to it. The general tso chicken has a nice little spicy flavor, not too sweet, and always fresh. Overall, everything I've tried hasn't been a disappointment, HIGHLY recommend! I just wished they delivered.

Wendy J.

Yelp
This restaurant just opened and it is the best Chinese food I have had in a long time. The ingredients tasted fresher than any food I have gotten from any restaurant in recent years. I mean seriously. They just opened and they were packed with people waiting for take-out on the Friday night that I went in. The restaurant is family owned and the owners were working very hard to get all the orders made and out the door. There was a bit of a wait but it was worth it! I think they will get used to the flow and things will run more smoothly as they get some experience under their belts. Definitely reasonably priced and I will be returning very soon.

Reggie A.

Yelp
Very pleased i have been looking for a local spot for house fried rice and low mein....

Whitney R.

Yelp
I was very excited to try this as there are not many Chinese restaurant choices on our side of town. We were a walk-in and were planning on staying to eat there. We placed our order at 6:20 and was told it would be 15 minutes. The place filled up pretty quickly and at 6:40 I went to check on our food, which was still not ready. At 7:00 I was pretty irritated and so were the people waiting in the restaurant. EVERYONE there was waiting for their food. I asked how long it would be and was told 5 minutes. After another 10 minutes I went to ask for my money back and the young lady at the register said "NO, food will be ready 5 minutes". On the upside, the food was hot and delicious. The best we have had in Murfreesboro...but based on the service we won't be back. And it is expensive for an "Express".

Johnny I.

Yelp
Service, but not food quality, appears to be slipping at this place. I called in a small order the other night told it would be 35 minutes. Yikes. No big deal though, got to the place 35 minutes later, guy in front of me just completed ordering and young woman behind counter told him 20 minutes. I stepped up to counter and gave her the phone number for the order, phone rings and she picks up and takes someone else's order - now I am slightly annoyed. She tells caller on phone 20 minutes for their order. I give her number again and she goes to the back table, can't find my food. Older woman comes to assist, shuffles some orders and comes out and tells me it will be 15 more minutes. I say, what, it's already been 40 minutes since I ordered! She says, yes another 15 minutes. Granted, I know sometimes it takes longer than expected but neither young nor older woman said sorry for the delay or anything. 15 minutes later I get my food. I really think they misplaced my order and I guess that happens but WTF I am (was) a customer. At least apologize or something, maybe some free rice. (?)
