Old-school spirit with a modern twist: a deep Sichuan menu plus in-table hot pot. The Omaha World-Herald praised its expanded regional offerings and interactive hot pot experience—ask for the Sichuan menu if you like numbing spice.

I walked in to place a to go order. I was met with terrible customer service. I was charged $15 for a sesame seed chicken order that came with a side of rice. After sitting down for my meal at work and platting the white rice. I noticed it was discolored, I threw it away immediately. You can easily get food poisoning from old rice. This was a waste of my time and money.

Google
Absolutely loved this hot pot place! The ingredients were super fresh, the broth was rich and flavorful, and the dipping sauces had so many options to customize. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the whole place was clean and cozy. We had a great time cooking and sharing food at the table. Definitely coming back again soon — highly recommend if you love hot pot!

Google
Ordered the orange chicken with white rice for lunch, along with a side order of 10 fried Dumplings. Holy potatoes- the food was hot, flavorful and the portions were huge! I ended up eating this for lunch 3 days in a row, which was awesome!

I don’t understand why people are being so harsh. I came here on a Friday night and had a great time. They have a big pot where you can cook whatever you want to eat. The pace was relaxed, and it went perfectly with the beer I wanted. I really enjoyed the meal — this place is a hidden gem! It’s perfect for group dining, and I’ll definitely be back.

Google
This is the best Chinese food in Omaha. I came here with one of my co-workers hoping that it wasn't a dump and we were incredibly surprised at the service and the quality of the food. The food came out very quickly and was extremely tasty. The wait staff was friendlier than almost anywhere I've ever been. They checked up on us multiple times and we're extremely extremely polite. I had the lemon chicken with fried rice. The restaurant was extremely clean and smelled great. You have the option to sit at tables where you can cook your own food if you want. If you're in the mood for sushi Chinese food or anything in-between don't skip on this place. It's amazing.

Google
Puke! The food was terrible. I ordered peanut butter chicken. The sauce did NOT taste anything like peanut butter. It was quite fowl and sour. The fried rice tasted stale. The server was also extremely rude. He rolled his eyes and was very annoyed when asked for a new fork and for some rice. Never coming here again!!! PS- no changing area in the men's room, so it makes it difficult to change your child's diaper.

Google
Great place to take a group of people. We had the AYCE hot pot and a little soju. Kids were half price but adults cost has been increased on menu from $23 to $27 per person. This is a ton of food. We had difficulty getting through even one serving. The different choices in flavors were great. The only improvement I would recommend here would be spending a quick few moments with the customers to explain how to cook the items or the best methods. One of the biggest issues with return people in these places is they do not have the knowledge on how to cook the food and then do not actually enjoy it the way it supposed to be enjoyed. Watch a few YouTube videos on hot pots and then visit this place.

Google
Great restaurant that looks good and has choice of bbq, hotpot, or a regular menu. Clean and comfy seating areas and TVs in the front and back. Food is great.

Yelp
Being exhausted from travel, we shamelessly ordered fried food of the Americanized Chinese kind, and it was the best version I've ever had. It surpassed even the golden glow of the nostalgic memory of the pork combination lunch I used to get in grad school in Minneapolis. When they commit to frying something here, they do it with conviction: crisp but not greasy exterior, perfectly cooked interior. You will want to mock me for all this. The people at the next table, enjoying more authentic dishes, likely wanted to mock us. The waitress would have been justified in rolling her eyes, but she resisted and was awesome. I will be murmuring soft reminiscences about their sweet and sour shrimp for years.

Yelp
PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE ! Okay so we've been to 26 states and this was THE WORST Korean food, IF you could call it that. If we didn't know real Korean food, I would think this is Korean food and I would hate it. Look, you guys need to make up your mind; you're either a Korean place (and actually learn Korean BBQ) or you're a hot pot place. You cannot be both. If there is both, you are not getting good Korean food. Just because a place has kimchi doesn't mean it's Korean food. They don't even have Banchans and when I asked, the waiter didn't even know what that is. Like whaaaat ?? SMH

Yelp
First time at a hot pot place! I was glad to go with someone who had been before to show me the ropes - it's not terribly complicated but definitely a little different from what I'm used to. I liked having the chance to try a lot of different food in our hot pot and also that we could do a spicy half and a non spicy half. The restaurant is pretty basic in design, but had a very cool cotton candy machine at the front! The service was helpful answering the few questions we had and came back enough to clear plates/bring more food for us.
google avatar

Yelp
Just okay. It's cheap but I think the least they can do is let you have fried ride instead of plain white rice on the side. Was pretty bland but I've had way worse before. Decent for the cheap price.

Yelp
First time trying Hot Pot! This place has been on my list for years and I'm glad I finally got to go. I'll admit I was a bit overwhelmed for how it all worked. The server was friendly but I wish he would l have taken more time explaining things. We ordered half spicy and original broth and ordered: beef, chicken, broccoli, potatoes, corn, mushrooms, noodles, crab, shrimp and lettuce. They have a bar where you can customize your own sauce but again we didn't really know what we were doing. It also had crag rangoons and fried dumplings. It was definitely a lot of food. The server did point out it's $27.99 per person and could be 20% added if you have a lot of food waste. So we were determined to clean our plates. My favorite was the Enoki Mushrooms and noodles. My husbands was the beef. Overall was a fun experience but not something I'd come to all the time.

Aaron ..

Yelp
Absolutely horrible!!! They used to serve great food. Now they uncharge for chopsticks and mustard when ordering from grub hub. It was unnecessary and then didn't even arrive. The food was wrong as well. Since when is spaghetti lo mein? Will not order again and suggest you skip it too.

Yelp
You get what you pay for here. The hotpot is definitely a better choice than the KBBQ. After visiting this place twice, once for the hotpot and the latest for the BBQ, I'd say the hotpot saved it from being a 2-star experience. The KBBQ fell short on the meat quality. Despite having a party of 4 with 3 hungry guys, the supposed all-you-can-eat BBQ was a bit of a letdown. They give you a form to order what you want, but here's the catch - it's all you can eat, but you can only order 3 times. We went for all 3 rounds, but the second and third were a bit of a joke. You write down a quantity, say 3 briskets, and they bring out just one. No matter what number you jot down, it's always one item. They even brought out items we didn't order, like extra lettuce and corn, probably to fill us up so we'd eat less meat. They missed some items we did order, like eggplant, but we didn't bother asking since the service was trash. To top it off, three out of the four of us needed an urgent restroom visit post-meal for some unexpected colon cleansing within the hour. Overall, go for the hotpot, but the KBBQ might not be worth the hassle.

Yelp
Average food at above average prices. The best part of the meal was the hot and sour soup. The garlic chicken wasn't that spicy. The sauce was kind of weird. I think the calling card for this place is hot pot. I tried it before and it was good. I think this is the only place in Omaha that has it. Even the fortune in the fortune cookie was average.

Yelp
It was very good! We'll be back!! I loved the spicy side. Because of the peppers though they are crazy hot! Loved the house noodles and shrimp. The restaurant was very quiet and it was chill.

Yelp
If I could go zero stars I would. By far the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. Did the all you can eat hot pot, the guy didn't explain anything at all. Only knew about the buffet bar included with the hot pot after watching the table next to us go up. The table next to us also came in at least ten minutes after and got their food first. The wait was so long and we only had one round of food which was missing items. Never had the chance to order more because the waiter never came back. After waiting like twenty minutes I asked a different waiter for the check and just paid and left. Huge waste of money. Terrible experience.

Yelp
I've tried the hot pot (all you can eat) for $25/person twice - There are ~10 different meat/seafood options, ~10 veggie options and a few different noodle options. In addition there is a "sauce bar" that has things like scallions, cilantro, different vinegar, black bean/miso paste, etc. Service is solid and they bring the hot pot food really quick. In addition they have a really expansive chinese food menu with both more Americanized dishes as well as more authentic dishes

Marcia D.

Yelp
Good is great !!! Service they never speak to anyone , sort of like they don't know how to communicate with customers and the restrooms are not updated!

Yelp
I went on a Sunday night to try the hot pot. The food was super duper good, the service was just so so. I had to keep asking for my water to be refilled. The condiment bar was empty for quite a while, and unfortunately the labels did not match what the condiments were. I could tell what some of them were, but I was completely lost with other things. The food itself was delicious. It was my first time having the hot pot and I will definitely be back for more. The restaurant itself was fine. It was clean and I liked that the booths had high backs which allowed for privacy. Had the service been better, I would have given this place five stars, but subpar service is not enough to keep me away!

Yelp
Our parties of 3 arrived this restaurant around 1530 ish (3:30 pm) warm welcome and we were seated right away. Told a server we wanted hot pot. Were recommended to go and make sauces (or dipping for food) while we were making them, hot pot was set up. What an awesome swift service. We were back to table, server asked us whether we were here before I said I was but not others. She didn't pursue the instructions then. Ok. Server gave us a piece of sheet with food items so I checked marks for the desired food items. Vegetables and meat came. Looked small portions but it was ok because we could order more. Marked more food items, second dish came. Third time around we just wanted meat since meat wasn't enough for three of us. We were all females and we don't have huge appetite so we shouldn't eat that much but still felt meat could add more. Then server came and gave us a check now.... It was 1608.... We were there little over 30 minutes. Ok....mind you that they open all day with no break. So I asked why so hurry to get rid of us? Server said third time already served so... but no rush... what? No rush? Portion of the food was so little for $27.99 per person (even to us). Are you kidding me?? Well owner came by and told us that he would give us more meat. Ok. Then 1616 (4:16pm) he said we could pay at the table. Felt frustrated so decided to pay and leave. He was standing there until we decided to pay with tip. Felt rushed and under served. Bad restaurant and bad service.

Yelp
The service was excellent. Our server was super nice and accommodating. She made gave us a bbq slot even though our reservation was not recorded. The environment was very welcoming and they made sure our glass was never empty.

Yelp
We had been visiting this restaurant since last year, almost 1-time every month. Things were great until last Sunday. They were super slow. We waited for almost 20 mins to have someone came and asked then another 10-mins for our drink (water and a beer) came out. The food was ok and they are the only one in town serving hotpot. No wonder they were super busy. We only called the first row. We left cash with $2 tip. The server called us back. I used to work in the restaurant for almost a year, I know how things could be crazy when there was a short staff and busy night. But the server was super rude, he demanded 15% in tip (the total was $66.75) and he would not let us go without doing so. I'm not gonna visit this restaurant again and I will sure tell my family to not doing so. As Asian we usually support small Asian business in town but this one will not be.

Yelp
We went here for my 15 year anniversary and left in tears. I will not ever be back nor will my friends or family. The list of things gone wrong is long including 1. A loud beeping when we first sat down that was too loud to have a conversation over. I had to flag down staff to shut it off. 2. My husband and 2 kids came. We told them we wanted 2 people eating hot pot and then did not give us a menu for the other two so we had to ask for that too.. 3. We want crab Rangoon for the family but were told they were attending the buffet so the whole family helped themselves. 4. Then one of the younger guys came over and acused my kids of eating hot pot...while they are eating their full priced entrees and sides of sushi ..and said we'd have to pay for them. 5. When we reassured him they were not eating hot pot he proceeded to argue with me before going to sit back at the bar and eat his soup. Meanwhile all of our water glasses were empty and there was no one else to be found. I had to interrupt the server to get someone to fill our water. 6. In addition to the awful customer service the potatoes were freezer burnt and the chicken was in huge pieces. I completely lost my appetite afterwards this experience and left in tears..on our ANNIVERSARY. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. THEY ABSOLUTELY DESERVE THE BUSINESS THEY DO NOT GET WITH THIS EXPERIENCE

Yelp
I have eaten here before and love their food, so it was hard to write this review. We ordered the hot pot and got a serving of bok Choy with it. While we dumped it in, we noticed that the last leaf had a little friend in it. We called the waiter over and he took it with him. While we let the hot pot cook the veggies, another little friend came up. We again showed it to the waiter and said he would bring out a new hot pot. New batch of bok choy came out and Again! Another little friend in it. Waiter said he would talk to the manager. We finished our food and asked if everything was alright. We said yes and hands us our check. We honestly thought they would at least comp my soda for not making a big deal out of it...and the place was full.....

Yelp
Just had my food delivered and it was, to put it politely, not good. Burned rice and the kung pao sauce tasted reheated like it was from yesterday.

Yelp
It's clean, Food was great, the employees were so welcoming and kind and you will definitely end up in a food coma right after eating
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on the 4th of July one year. It was a great experience with such great food! There were plenty of authentic Chinese dishes to choose from!

Craig L.

Yelp
If you love spending money this is the place for you! Will charge you $22 for 2 shots, had a party of 6, split the check 3 ways and each bill was charged a gratuity of 18% each. They charge a 20% food waste fee, which is funny since the food is nauseating. Place definitely knows all the ways to screw people over.

Yelp
The service was fast for a take out call. I looked online at the menu and I was $9.95 a meal... pretty reasonable. Called in our order. Three entree and two appetizers. I go to pick up the order and the first thing out of the man working the front desk was "just wait a second okay!" ok. I was a little sticker shocked when it rang up over $50! I asked to see the ticket and it was $12 and entree , $1 each rice, and honestly I don't remember the price of the appetizers. We got it home and it was bizarre to say the least. The peanut butter chicken was a fried cutlet cut into strips and dipping sauce that was more fish sauce tasting than peanut butter. The other two had no flavor. At all. I've literally have better Chinese at a mall kiosks. Two stars just for being quick.

Yelp
I am not one to write reviews but felt as if I needed to. My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday dinner and were very excited to try the hot pot. It was a very disappointing experience. It took forever just for someone to come up to us for drinks and explain what to do. We felt a bit ignored by everyone there. When we finally got the sheet and filled it out it took forever to have someone come pick it up. We went up to the "all you can eat" appetizers and they were no good seemed as if they were microwaved. We got our pots and all the food and it was not good. All the meat and seafood was very chewer. When it came for the bill I paid in cash and asked for change so I could tip. I am a server and always tip 20%. When I got the change back I got the tip sorted out and had it on the table. Then out of nowhere, before they even picked up the tip, a different server came up to my boyfriend and started belittling us and saying we need to tip more and how they don't make salary here and it was NOT okay. I stepped in because I was the one who paid and was saying I have the tip right here and how I asked for change to do the tip and they just walked right away. We immediately left because of how that interaction went.

Yelp
Surprisingly good Szechuan food. Make sure you ask for the Szechuan menu when seated. Service was average at best. They offer hot pot which I did not partake as I was by myself but looked good. When I am back in Omaha will go back
google avatar

Huu T.

Yelp
You would be disappointed. I went here because my wife wanted to try some hot pot otherwise I would have not picked it. The price per person is now 27.99 which is understandable in today's high in inflation environment. They do have a lot of items on the menu like vegetables, some meat squid and shrimps but they were not good in terms of quality and size. The broth base were plain and tasteless to say the least. Service were plain just like the food, I had to get my own dipping sauce. To sum it up what he again even it was free.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to try hotpot for the first time this past weekend for an outing with my boyfriend. Neither of us had ever tried it and after driving by this place a few times we finally decided to give it a try. It was a really fun experience, but the food wasn't for us. We were on a time crunch when we went so if you decide to visit make sure you have lots of time on your hands. Another tip, make sure that if you go to visit with an empty belly. It was $27.99 per person and I would also recommend going with at least 4 people, even though the minimum is 2. There were tons of people when we went in, but service was fast!

Yelp
Very Good! Just go you'll love it Best in Omaha. Clean and great service. My new favorite.

Yelp
If you're looking for hotpot this is the place to go. I have eaten hotpot in Vegas and I must say this place is comparable if not better. It was our first time there and the waitress was very kind and helpful in walking us through the ordering process. We chose the "all you can eat" hotpot for 24.99 per person and it was absolutely worth it. They had a great protein, veggie, and noodle variety. We stuck with beef, shrimp, and squid; all were awesome. The shrimp was large (26/30 per lb) and bigger than the ones in Vegas. For the hot pot we chose the mild and hot broth. So yummy! We will be back and next time we will try the bbq. Great service and tasty food!

Yelp
Great main dish and excellent hot-and-sour soup. I ordered delivery and was pleased with the accuracy of the delivery time and the contents of my order (soup and the 'Mongolian special'). Good size portions and quality ingredients. I'll order again. (Frequent traveler exploring his new home)

Yelp
The servers were friendly and the food was amazing, I loved the shrimp and zucchini. They have a cute little cotton candy vending machine that looks adorable, 10/10 restaurant

Yelp
It's been three years since my last review and things have changed very much for the better at China Garden. Their new space is large and comfy, featuring tables fit for hot pot and, newest of all, table top barbecue. Note, a large portion of their business seems to be delivery and carry out of Americanized Chinese favorites, and many of the reviews on this page reflect that. And that's fine. But you want to go here for their expansive Sichuanese menu, full of spicy favorites from Chendgu to Chongqing and every spot in between. And no, you don't eat the peppercorns even though they'll likely be piled high. Every so often I get a serious craving for some spicy hot pot, and this is only spot in Omaha that offers it. Grab some friends, order some meats and veggies and drinks and enjoy a lengthy communal meal boiling your own food. And they offer all you can eat tabletop charcoal barbecue. A very worthy alternative to hot pot. For about $25 a person, it's well worth it, as the menu is pretty expansive and has plenty for meat eaters and vegetarians alike (but more so meat eaters). Last, don't forget to order a cocktail. One of Omaha's best bartenders works here. He made me a brandy-based drink that complimented the every-present Sichuan spice quite nicely. One of my all-time favorite spots to eat in Omaha and we're fortunate to have it here!

Yelp
Tabletop BBQ/grilling, Chinese hot pot, skilled mixologists, authentic Szechuan and Hunan cuisine... please open a location in Minneapolis, China Garden! How lucky is Omaha to have such well-executed and authentic Hunan and Szechuan restaurant?? I was so impressed that beyond the Americanized options, we could order flavorful dishes with the signature numbing Szechuan peppercorn like dandan noodles, spicy wontons, mapo tofu, and more. Our whole party (a table of 8 celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year) loved every single dish! We also loved that Korean Soju was available, and that the mixologist Luke made us impressive custom cocktails. Our whole table opted in for the table-top BBQ, which was AYCE for $24.99--great deal! We ordered all sorts of items that we grilled ourselves over charcoals: pork belly, thinly sliced steak, marinated beef, intestine, chicken, eggplant and mushrooms. Nothing beats getting a delicious charcoal char on your meat, especially in the comfort of a booth. I also appreciated that we could make our own sauces at the station in the back. I can't wait to come back here! Next time we'll try hot pot, if we have the strength to deny ourselves the BBQ.

Yelp
If your girl can cook Chinese food...Marry Her! Because SCHEZWAN of a kind! If not, you can always count on China Garden to deliver! My friend Brain invited us to this special dining experience featuring a 6 course meal paired with 6 crafted cocktails. Our bartender of the evening is known to be one of Omaha's best mixologist, so every cocktail complemented the Szechwan spice of each dish perfectly. Some memorable cocktails include: Snow Falling in Denmark, Mango Daiquiri, etc. And that's all the names I remember after finishing 2 drinks LOL, but I did take lot of foodielicous pics! For the entries, the Crispy Pepper Tofu and the Szechwan boiled fish was the most notable for me! China Garden serves Americanized Chinese food for those less adventurous foodies who enjoy their familiar favorites. They also carry a menu for authentic Szechwan Chinese cuisine for those who seek bold flavors!

Yelp
We were wowed by China Garden- a real Omaha gem! The menu is extensive! I will look forward to trying something new each time we go back. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us find some great dishes to share (you can do hotpot or order Sichuan dishes or do a combo). I enjoyed everything we had-- kung pao chicken, ma po tofu, black bean noodles, spicy wontons, string beans, and especially the boiled spicy beef (large portion). Next time I'd like to try the spicy Chongqing chicken and eggplant!

Yelp
I've been visiting China Garden for over ten years. Back when it was in the little house tucked away on 84th st., it was my favorite Chinese food in all of Omaha. I loved eating their broccoli chicken and egg drop soup (with the crunchy bits) while watching the fish and drinking a can of pop. When they moved to this new location, I think it affected the food somewhat. I found out last week that they are the only Chinese food in Omaha that deliver. Using their website, I ordered a bunch of food for my family for delivery. It arrived earlier than the website promised, hot and tasty across the board. The broccoli chicken was just as delicious as I remembered.

Yelp
One of the few Chinese places in town that looks like a true Chinese restaurant, that is to say, a hole in the wall. This is the kind of place real Chinese people go to for food. However, a lot of their menu is Americanized stuff. I've been here for hot pot, and also for lunch. Hot pot was good stuff. You order various items from an al a carte menu, and they bring you a pot with two sides and the items on the side. One side of the pot is spicy broth, while the other is plain. I recommend getting double spicy, because it's not actually too spicy and it's really tasty. You place your items in the broth and let them cook, then take them out when they're done to you're liking. While the items can really add up, its a great meal and fun to try if you haven't. The lunch special is really cheap, but honestly not very good. I got the General Tso's chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup. While everything visually looked pretty good, everything was super bland. There's certainly hope for their lunch special, but you need to ask them to season it well, otherwise it's going to be too bland. Overall this is a good spot and I recommend checking it out, especially for hot pot.

Yelp
This little gem needs more advertising. I never knew Omaha had an all you can eat hotpot yet. It was only a matter of time before we did. And bam! We do. I guess they have been open for about 2 years. I never knew. It just so happens in Omaha.com paper it mentions it has changed owner/management. The area isn't as fancy/trendy as other spots in Omaha. But I'm not here for trendy. You cannot miss the colorful signage. LEDs every where. See my pictures. Step inside and you would never think it was a chinese restaurant, You have a large bar , large projector TVs on all the walls. Decoration that makes no sense. (Giant horse statue with trees surrounding it). But who cares. It was clean and you do not smell like food at the end of the night. When we were seated each person was given two menu books. Both books felt like high school year books. It was overwhelming with pages and pictures. My wife and I we both go the all you can eat hotpot with a 2 hour time limit. Lol. Usually it's just 90 mins but 2 hours is plenty of time from start to finish. We ordered our broth of half spicy and half non spicy. Next came our protein of ribeye and lamb, then squid. Then our veggies. There is a warning of 20% up charge for wasting. So start small and you can always order more. The wildest thing is the up charge of $2 from the sauce bar. When you eat hotpot you generally make a sauce to dip your meats and veggies in after its blanched in the soup. We were informed of it but why not just include it in your buffet price? Lol can't eat hotpot without it!!!! The place wasn't busy for a Friday night dinner time so our order came out very prompt. The worst thing about eating this style of buffet is waiting for the next round of orders to come out from the kitchen. I think this place has potential for groups of 4 to eat, drink and talk within the two hour time limit.

The Girl W.

Yelp
Friendly and great customer service!!!! For the hot pot $27.99 per person but it's worth every penny. We will come back again. Be prepared to be extremely full.

Yelp
The menu is much less adventurous than before the pandemic, unfortunately. Most of the authentic Chinese dishes are no longer available. However the food remains delicious. Our favorites include Mu Shu Pork and some of the family sized soup offerings. The restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable. Take out orders are prepared and ready for pickup within 20-25 minutes.

Yelp
Food was mediocre at best. Front desk person not friendly. Server was ok. Do not recommend

We've always been a fan of the food here but this time we got the hot pot, food was overpriced($27.99). There were many options including squid & shrimp. Wait staff attended to us right away & explained how it worked. Atmosphere was nothing spectacular. Pots & pans were stacked on the condiment bar. We won't be getting hot pot again

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere (quiet and isolated). This place seems great for big groups. My boyfriend and I were hot pot noobs so the waiter helped a lot. Staff was friendly. Soup quality was okay. The sauce station seemed to be lacking but still made some savory sauces.

Yelp
This was my 2 time going and will be a great good place if your sick or wanting a new experience and the service is great to never really a long wait

Yelp
Disappointing takeout. No flavor, got sick afterwards... enough said... but yelp reviews have a word minimum

Yelp
Great little spot. Had the Kung pao and which was good had lots of veggies. Hot and sour soup was much better than I was expecting spicy and flavorful.
