Came here with some friends. Had never been here before, but they'd said it'd be good. Ended up getting the #13 sweet and sour pork, fried rice, and chow mein which was all really good. Then I tried my friends sesame chicken, shrimp, and orange beef which was so good. That orange beef will definitely be ordered again. On top of this, the serving size was crazy big. Felt like I didn't even put a dent in my to go combo before I put away my leftovers

I have been eating at this exceptional Chinese restaurant since I was a child I'm 47 and it still has the same taste, with Big portions. I've been everywhere nobody does it like this family it's my families number one and ONLY Chinese Restaurant they never miss a beat ! Great service EXCELLENT FOOD!! I believe there was also one on Mc Henry it was called China Garden as well that was long ago,Memories!!

It was date night, and Chinese came up on the wheel of "What's for dinner." This isn't the closest to us, so we ordered to go. Two #8's substitute Garlic chicken, with an order of egg rolls on the side. The pork fried rice was tasty and flavorful, a perfect side for the Egg Foo Yung, which was probably the best we have had! The garlic chicken was super crispy with a spicy garlic glaze/sauce from a jar (boo) and was very tasty, just not garlicky. Now the Egg Rolls? Bruh. SUPER crispy and not greasy 10/10. Get these if you have not tried them. I would suggest calling ahead to order since there is only one Amazingly awesome talented lady at the front, taking orders, checking orders, and doing their best. Every seat was open when we went. They cut and placed card board in the bottom of our to go bag so the food wouldn't jostle too much on the way home. 10/10 Parking? Terrible. 2/10 Not their fault, not included in the review.

Our order here left me questioning whether I actually like Chinese food. The chow mein and fried rice tasted like nothing. I'm not losing my sense of taste, as the tin foil chicken tasted both spicy and soapy. It was inexpensive, with large portions, and the people there were very nice.

Perfect Chinese food: tasty, huge portions, lower price than most places. Reminds me of how many Chinese restaurants used to be. Worth getting combination plates to get crispy egg rolls.

Prices were good that was all that was good about this place. The food sucked! The chow mein tasted like top Ramin noodles, the sweet and sour chicken did not have any sauce or taste to the chicken mostly dough. Prawn no taste, broccoli beef and fried rice no flavor. Will not be going back.

I stopped in to place a to-go order. Picked up an order of garlic chicken and kung pao chicken, with a side of rice. They give you large portions. I've been enjoying it for a couple of days now.

I've been going to this restaurant for years. I mostly do take out, the food is great, portions are huge, and the prices are fair.

Food is always good and the portions are large. The service is always fast. We've been coming here for a few years now and it never disappoints.

Finally got myself to try a new Chinese restaurant, and was not disappointed at all. I placed a phone order for pick up on Thursday evening, was ready in about 35-45 min. The restaurant doesn't do dine in after 3pm, just an fyi. The service was quick and efficient, very nice over the phone and in person. The food was really good! The honey walnut prawns were pretty large and breaded well. The fried rice was delicious and so was the soup. The decor was slightly outdated, but I like it, give it an authentic Chinese restaurant feel. Will definitely be visiting again.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Where else can you get a combo plate that comes with a main, fried rice, chow mein and soup for $9-10.50 nowadays. The portions are huge and taste good. The service isn't the best or horrible. I came by with a group of 4 and we could've just shared 2 plates or even 3. Spacious restaurant with a lot of tables. Parking lot

Used to eat here years ago as China Royale, it was pretty good. Not impressed now. I had combo #8, it was mediocre Chinese food so I wont go back. Eggs rolls had too much of a fried wrap, egg foo young was bland, SnS pork too crusty as well. Ambiance and service was fine.

I love this place, my colleagues love this place after I introduced the food to them. The food is very delicious, prices are reasonable. The place is small but the food is perfect, the service always amazing. Love the owner and her son. I recommend if you were to do take out. Always call them a head and place the order because they are constantly busy with lots of orders and sometimes dine in customers.

We had went to another place for Chinese food for years not sure what changed but the food was not the same we tried china garden and we loved it they give you big portions and prices are good

Excellent food. I have been going to this place for years. Honestly, I liked it better when it was a full service sit down restaurant now it seems like they mostly preferred takeout orders. They do have good combos and I can highly recommend their barbecue ribs combo. The ribs are generous, St. Louis style pork ribs Chinese sauce. It comes in a combo plate with chow mein and rice or by itself. Other entrées are all so good. I do like their Kung Pao and their Wor wonton soup.

This Chinese food is the real deal. I am so sick of having subpar ingredients at most places. This reminded me of the authentic, delicious freshly made Chinese food restaurants I used to go to with my family and my grandparents as a kid. I'm glad I read the reviews and took a chance because like a lot of them said, don't judge a book by its cover. I don't know if it's typical, but the woman waiting on us was the only person serving, busing, handling to go orders, closing everybody out. There was a large party there in top of that. So it was a slower paced lunch service but the food was so good, we didn't even care. I immediately started texting all of my relatives that used to go out for delicious Chinese food with my grandparents to tell them to give this place a try.

The food it's so good the only problem was that my order was not what I ask for. I want 2 plates for chow main and the meat. And look what I got 4 plate and one on trade

With the cost of fast food getting high, you can count on China Garden to give you your money's worth. I love the garlic chicken and I opted for all chowmein instead of fried rice. I paid under 11$ for the combo. Food is always hot and fresh!! You have to try the double fried egg rolls!!!! The best egg rolls ever!!!

China guarded, oh my gosh, I love their food. Jenny is amazing, so is her son. They are very on top of quality. When it comes to food and quantity, I have been going there for 13 years now and this is the spot for Chinese food for my family and myself. My children love her food. I'm telling you best Chinese food place in town. My son wants me to say that it is the best Chinese food in the universe.lol

I'd say this is my go-to Chinese restaurant. I usually do takeout, and they PACK those plates good at a very reasonable price!! Food also never disappoints and staff up front are nice.

Just know there is NO dine in after 3pm!Don't waste your time going after if you want to sit and eat.

We wanted Chinese food and been shopping all day. We googled places to eat and this place popped up, we checked out the reviews and food pictures and headed straight there. As we arrived I started to judge the location and outdated sign and had second thoughts. I'm glad I gave it a chance because the portion was big and prices are great. The food was very good and staff was very friendly. I am learning to never judge a book by its cover. I definitely recommend.

Whenever we're in the 209, we always make a pit stop at this awesome restaurant. The food is always of quality, service is great, and the portions are very generous. We've been coming here for 5+ years. Our family favorites are: The beef on the stick The salt and pepper fish The beef fried rice The sweet and sour chicken The garlic chicken The owner Jenny and Jeffrey are just the sweetest couple. I love that we get to support a locally owned and operated family business.

The food was good. Chow mein was crisp fried rice very crisp. Lot of extra little veggies in the rice. Very good one downside sweet and sour pork needs a little bit of work. More sauce but still overall very good will be coming back

Ordered Mongolian Beef special #6. Ugh. It was spiced with a type of pepper I have seen used in Chinese cooking. There was no flavor except for "hot". This was an expensive takeout to put in the garbage. $13+. The portions of chow mein and fried rice were huge, but definitely off in flavors. I was hungry, but couldn't eat this food. I had takeout, and the inside looked reasonable, and the service was fast enough, but I'm never going to back.

Tried out this place recently since it was recommended by my in-laws. Food is decent and you get a lot for your order.

I liked their food but it has pork in the rice and noodles! I asked for chicken but I should have specified to take off the pork if possible because it was in little tiny pieces. My gf really liked this place. I would come back and try again but without the pork. Orange chicken was good.

Yesterday was our first time coming here we got there right when it opened, the price was good and the food was very good ! The lady that took our order was nice as well ! We got food to go but the environment seemed nice and calm my son definitely enjoyed the fish tank The best part is they give you a very good amount of food I definitely recommend coming here! We definitely will be back

Huge portions, buy for lunch and have enough for dinner, and very good quality. I eat here at least once a month.

Sweet and sour pork wasn't crunchy like other spots . Pork fried rice was pretty good . Noodle kinda tasted like topramen

Hands down, best Chinese food in Modesto. We've been going here for almost a decade. The food is always delicious, not overly greasy or bland, and the portions are huge. The service is consistently kind and timely. We won't order Chinese from anywhere else!

There use to be a takeaway in Modesto that made a honey walnut chicken that has closed now for quite some time, when I called other places to see if they can make that all said no. All places had the prawn version on menu but would not make a substitution even for an upcharge. This place did accommodate and gave me exactly what I asked for. Their service was great and the food was way more than enough for 2 meals. Some of the biggest portions I have seen. Thank you, you guys have earned me as a regular.

Ordered for takeout from here because my favorite place is closed on Wednesdays. Lady that took my order was a little rude on the phone but was extremely nice in person when I picked up my order. Food was great. One thing I wish I knew before ordering was that the portion sizes are huge. This is a good thing, but I ordered too much food. The restaurant looks nice inside and has a family feel to it which is really cool.

Did not get to try. Although open until 9 pm, you only find out they don't have dine in after 3 pm. Needs to advertise this fact better.

I don't know which was better, the food or the price! Large portions and great quality. It was the best Chinese food I've ever had. The woman working the counter was kind and helpful with our questions. One combo container feed enough for our family of 3 WITH seconds.

Everytime I go here the food is great! Everything is fresh and flavorful! They give you a good amount of food for the price. The egg rolls are so good and crunchy! I called the lady today to compliment her on how good the food is. She sounded very happy. So come here and try really good fresh food you will love it.

This has been my favorite restaurant since I was in college! I would go here once a week after church and they always give large portions that last me two days! Now that I live in LA, I only get it when I visit home but Lin, the main hostess, always remembers me! Best Chinese food I've ever had, and my favorite place ever!

I love this place, BUT the beef on a stick gave my wife terrible and rare food poisoning. The doctor has to report her food poisoning to the COUNTY because it's so rare. The beef was raw in the center and she didn't know until we really looked at it. The food is good but be wary and aware.

Been in the area since 1988. Hands down freshest most delicious Chinese I've had. Use to go to Imperial Garden but lady few times we left very disappointed. China Garden Honey Prawns are huge and crispy, the Mongolian Beef was amazing as was the chow mein. Wasn't a fan of the fried rice as it was dry but the soup and Schezuan chicken were fire. Loaded with veggies fresh and crisp. Our new go to for Chinese

The biggest portions and great prices! They are always so friendly too. A container of fried rice is enough to feed 6-8 people as a hefty side dish. We typically get one fried rice and three main dishes to share for the five of us, and it is dinner day one and lunch the next two days. Flavors are more consistent than some of the other places around, and I've never had to spat out a gristley piece of meat here.

We are surprise that we found great Chinese food, I got beef broccoli with vegies & it was not the traditional style, it was more of Kung Pow version, but no complaints because it was amazing in my opinion. We got egg roll 2 battered fried & 2 regular, both are great depending on your choices. My kids got orange chicken, which they loved!! Plates are really packed, so much 2 people can easily eat out of one order, or you will have leftovers so Overall they are our new favorite spot,

I drove for about 20 minutes to a restaurant that closed at 9pm only to find out that they do not seat customers after 3pm. Sign is on the door. Ridiculous. Woman was incredibly rude. Kept yelling, "only take out". I'm never coming back!

First time going here & ordered the garlic chicken, chicken with broccoli (my fave), and shrimp fried rice. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. We had enough for the next day. I will be returning. (Don't mind the bachelorette background noise on my video).

PLEASE WEAR A MASK!! It is unfortunate to even write this, but during a worldwide pandemic it is super important to follow CDC regulations to keep the community and oneself safe. I witnessed the front desk gentleman not wear a mask the whole time I was in there. And there were also two customers in front of me with one also NOT wearing a mask. There are clearly no enforcements here and this creates a very unsafe environment. If you are going to open please just put on a mask. This was my first time coming here as I love Chinese food and haven't found a great spot yet here in Modesto. Came here on a whim, but ordered ahead of time. Off their lunch special I got the #17, which includes garlic chicken, fried rice and chow mein. I must say, the portions here are HUGE!!! For the price that I paid which was about $6-7 that was such a great steal. The food tasted very good and I really enjoyed the positive and respectful attitude the front desk gentleman had. Unfortunately, the only major thing is not following COVID-19 regulations. This is a major health risk that should be taken very seriously.

The food is great hear I have nothing bad to say about the food but now the price changes every time I go in and I can't get a receipt so I feel like it's very strange

Good food and it doesn't take long to get it to the table. Nice people too. Worth going there fo a good meal.
