We enjoy going there for lunch when we are out of food at home. The lunch price is reasonable and the portion is large enough for two meals. I like snow peas with beef and my spouse likes snow peas with chicken. The food is always piping hot when they bring it to us. It comes with a cup of soup and it is tasty as well. No complain about the service if you tip a fair amount.

Google
Very impressed for a chain Chinese restaurant. The dishes here are much more in line with authentic (at least what you'd get around here) Chinese food than some of the other local spots. I was very impressed. My favorite dish here is the Mongolian Beef, which is basically onions beef and garlic, but it's quite excellent. The soup here is good as well. If you're ordering for a large group, it's actually quite affordable as well.

Great food, great service. Very friendly staff

Yelp
It was barely edible. The won ton soup broth tasted like Campbell's chicken noodle soup broth. The won tons were tasteless. The interior carpet was red at one time, but is black now from wear and tear and grease. I do not recommend eating here.

Yelp
Our food has always been prepared fresh and the servers are helpful and pleasant. Lately, I am wondering if this place has new owners as the paper menu and servers have changed. The menu still offers our favorite dishes but their take-out menu has been updated with color and photos. I ordered my favorite lunch special, beef tofu (with unfried tofu). My husband ordered the chicken with black bean sauce. As usual we both requested half chow mein and half fried rice. Both sides are very good. The hot and sour soup that accompanied our lunches was robust and flavorful. It was nice and hot and one of the best I've had. Our meals were delicious and it definitely curbed my craving for Chinese food. We enjoyed our lunches, the servers are courteous, and the dining area is comfortable and clean. We have never been disappointed here.

Yelp
China Garden has long been my favorite Chinese restaurant. Luckily it's in my neighborhood so we go frequently. The staff/owners are so friendly and accommodating and the food is just amazing. Last night my husband and I each had their "individual dinner" which allows you to choose any entree and comes with bbq pork fried rice, a cup of hot and sour soup; and an egg roll for $8.75 more than the entree price. He always goes for the Mongolian beef and I usually get the sweet and sour chicken (mushu is another regular favorite). Everything comes fresh and hot- the sweet and sour chicken is crispy amid that wonderful sweet sauce. I love this place and I will never stop singing their praises!!

Yelp
The place was very clean. We had a big group & they quickly put a table together for us. They took our drink order & it quickly arrived. They also took our food order, and food came out very quickly. We had family style, so we ordered a bunch of dishes & then shared. This are the dishes we got Chowmein combo Fried rice combo Wor Wonton soup Beef & brocoli Orange chicken Kung pao chicken Walnut shrimp They were all very tasty & tasted fresh & hot. Food was tasty & portions are a great size for sharing. Prices were very reasonable will definetly try it again.

Yelp
Food - this is our go to for Chinese food. We've had various dishes since we frequent this establishment quite often and haven't really found a dish that hasn't been flavorful or bland or just too spicy with no taste. We tend to have leftovers because the plates are pretty large for one person. Service - when we do a sitdown visit we've never had an issue with service. Their owes on top with the order and personable. If we do an online order, it's always ready to go when they say to come pick it up within the time given. Ambiance - we normally don't have to wait when we visit. They seem to be quite busy. It's not a very loud restaurant with simple decorations. No frills we are OK with that as long as the food is great.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese restaurant I have been to. My go to dishes are sweet and sour chicken, chow main and the pot stickers with hot and sour soup. Service is always good and portions are big. Prices are fair and the menu is huge.

Yelp
I never take pictures of their food because I always finish it before I think of reviewing the spot. This place is great. They have a lunch special until 3 PM where you can get basically any entrée with chow mein and fried rice as well as a soup and the option of white rice if you want it. Service has always been really good whether it is for takeout or for dining there. The actual inside of the restaurant is very mellow very peaceful. Honestly, this is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember it's also my parents's favorite spot. If you get the chance, you should order the lunch special with the Kung pow chicken. I don't think you will be disappointed. Next time I go here I will make sure I take an actual picture and update my review.

Yelp
The food is so delicious, what a shame. The pork was all fat, more so than bacon. It tasted good so i kept eating it which led to my belly completely disagreeing with the contents. Maybe the chicken would have been a better choice. I don't know if i can give this place another try.

Yelp
Hit the spot! I accidentally left my to go container but called and they still had it. Service and food always amazing

Yelp
This is a simple, standard, no-frills, but good and enjoyable Chinese place in western Santa Rosa. Ambience is plain but they have some comfortable booths. Service is great, friendly and efficient. The food is good, enjoyable standrad American Chinese fare but done well. We've had General Chicken, with a nice sweet-spicy flavour, plenty of sauce, nicely cripsy (4); peas and mushrooms, a bit baldn but enjoyable for what it was (3); Szechuan beef (fried), which had good flavour and crispy texture (4); veggie chow mein, good with decent texture and some flavour, but not great and lacking in a truly nice, firm texture that holds up, but with plenty of vegetables (3.5); sauteed string beans, very nice with great texture and mildly spicy character (4.5). Portions are large for the prices, and there's plenty of meat and veg with the diches

Yelp
Food is unappetizing, service is mediocre, but let me tell you, this place is packed with people coming and going. First time here and last time as well. A complete lack of flavor, the prawns tasted off, and it was not good at all! Update: my sister's stomach started hurting shortly. I think she's got food poisoning.

Korin H.

Yelp
Food is good and service is timely. Staff are accommodating and the restaurant is clean

Yelp
3rd time here - excellent all the way around. Fast service, large portions, great flavor and freshness. Not your run of the mill Chinese restaurant. Happily recommended.

Yelp
I love China Garden! This is my favorite Chinese food ever. Everything is always so fresh and good. The staff are always very friendly and the service is great. I usually get the Mongolian Beef. Their sweet and sour chicken is amazing.

Yelp
Enjoyed great service and great food with our family. Our adult children were visiting and we all enjoyed the experience and food

Yelp
Very good food and large portions. Attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend! Due to landlord raising the rent our favorite restaurant closed and we have been searching for a new restaurant since. This is the best.

Steph C.

Yelp
The servers are the nicest ladies! They are friendly, very helpful and efficient. The food is always hot and delicious and arrives quickly! The ambiance is nothing fancy but it is pleasant.

Marion A.

Yelp
China Garden has been my local Chinese lunch choice for a decade. New management about a year ago, but even better than before. Tasty, generous portions and pleasant service.

Kim O.

Yelp
My husband and I went here a couple of days ago for lunch. The minute we walked in it smelled so good and the food that came out rather quickly was so delicious. The portions were were nice and the food hot and amazingly tasty. I was so happy that the food was as good as the smell of the restaurant. We have finally found our new go to Chinese restaurant
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
This place is always on point. I highly recommend the General Chicken and crab rangoons. The staff is always friendly and this has become our "default" restaurant.
google avatar

P L.

Yelp
Eek. I don't know how this has good reviews. $100 spent and nothing was good. No flavor to anything. My whole family was disappointed. Won't go back.

Dave T.

Yelp
Terrible chow mien with no flavor. The meat and shrimp taste nasty. First time last time for the restaurant.
google avatar

janet l.

Yelp
The food here was absolutely delicious it was my first time having their menu. The chow mein noodles are out of this world they are the freshest I've ever had! We also had the general tong chicken and the crab rangoons, all mouth-watering and tasty. If you are in this neighborhood it is definitely worth trying out!

Yelp
Either this place has grown on me, my tastes have changed, or I can't remember why I gave it fewer stars six years ago. For so many reasons, China Garden is my #1 place to go! For Chinese food! It is not fancy. It is tucked in between a Mexican restaurant and a laundromat in the Oliver's marketplace. Interior is dated. Menu is typical. Service is always efficient and friendly. I go back-and-forth between a few different dishes but my favorites are the Hunan chicken with vegetables, moo shu pork, or Kung Pao prawns. Hot and sour soup is always on order. Hubby usually gets a bowl of Wor wonton soup and egg fried rice with an entree dish that is reminiscent of a major chain's #1 item - orange chicken. We always leave full and with to-go containers.

Yelp
this spot is your classic old school, authentic Chinese spot. The food is very authentic and always fills your Chinese takeout void. There may be alotta oil in the dishes, but there's also a lot of flavor. The portions they give are very generous and the cost is on the lower end. You can always expect a hearty and filling meal here.
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
Looking for a quick Chinese food lunch? This might be the fastest service I've had from aunties, they're adorable. The service is nice, food is good and I love their sweet and sour soup. There's very much no nonsense in the atmosphere- sit down, order and eat. I would definitely recommend this place for the sheer simplicity of it. Nothing fancy, mind you just fast Chinese food.
google avatar

Vince M.

Yelp
Great food for the value. Decent portion quantity that lasted for more than one meal for my daughter and I (Asian food always tastes better the next day). We ordered basic takeout items that were good and will try something more exotic next time. Friendly staff too.
google avatar

Manpreet N.

Yelp
Decided to order some takeout from here. So this review is solely about the food and not the service. It was really simple to call the restaurant and place my order via phone. I was able to request a certain time that I wanted the food picked up by so that it wouldn't get cold. I tried the Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, Vegetarian Chow Fun, Chicken Chow Fun, and Chicken Fried Rice. Every single item was delicious! All the flavors were super tasty and the portion sizes were really generous. This place is great value and I would definitely be getting food from here again.
google avatar

Bella S.

Yelp
What's not to like about this place, always fast service and friendly. Food is served right away hot and fresh, and huge portions enough for two meals or more.
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
First time eating here, it's worth it. Not so pricey and food taste very good! Very friendly staff too.

Sierra F.

Yelp
Chow mein is very soft, soggy and un-flavorful. The beef has a very weird texture and doesn't seem like quality meat at all, also is very sweet.... I will bring the rest of this plate and give it away. 0/5 stars
google avatar

Michele M.

Yelp
Have a Chinese food craving? Here's the place on the SW side of Santa Rosa. I had the sesame chicken and a veggie egg roll. All good! Served pretty and hot and quick. Service was prompt and friendly. I took the Mongolian chicken and rice home. Rice does not automatically come with the meal. Plenty of good for 2-3 more meals for two people for $50 isn't bad. It's conveniently located near Oliver's. When you finish shopping, stop and get your fix. I plan to come back again, as ethnic foods other than Mexican are hard to come by where I live.
google avatar

Connor B.

Yelp
I love Chinese food so I was slightly disappointed by my meal. 1. WTF is this Sweet N Sour " pork " look-alike because it definitely wasn't pork. 2. The Orange Chicken was a little bland for my taste. Overall it was not the best I've had but it needs improvement
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
First time trying this spot. The flavor was good. My kids wouldn't eat it because the veggies were too mushy. I agreed ~ we won't get it again. I like fresh crisp & this wasn't it.
google avatar

Yelp
This place doesn't look like much walking by but the food is amazing! Been coming here with my family since I was a kid and now my partner and I like to enjoy their food for date nights! The egg rolls are our favorite along with the chow mein and seafood soup! A must try!

Crystal P.

Yelp
Simple classic Chinese. Really friendly staff. The food comes out quick, hot and really great. I haven't had a bad dish there yet! The atmosphere is really dated but the food is not. I'd say one of the best in the area and I eat a lot, a lot of Asian food. The prices are reasonable and the portions are abundant! Keep up the good work.
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
Kind of a hidden gem with this place being tucked away in the stoneypoint shopping center. We have came here a few times for date night and am very impressed. They have a very extensive menu with multiple options for dinner specials. Great prices for the amount of food you get and it's good! I would say slightly better than average Chinese food. Because of the hidden gem factor, it typically isn't too busy and you get served rather quickly. If you're in the area, keep your eyes open for this place or you'll miss it.
google avatar

Yelp
Worst Ma Po tofu I've had. Ever. So to characterize the food, this is Americanized Chinese food. Well... Americanized Chinese food done extremely poorly. If you're looking for authentic even then this isn't your joint either. I got food to go and the food came out quick. Cool, but that's the only plus. By the way, the website does not represent what is actually on the menu here as far as most of the food or the prices. I ordered the ma po tofu, and mushroom and bamboo shoot. The ma po tofu is prepackaged sauce, one chopped up block of tofu (firm or extra firm), and a frozen pea and carrot package. And it costs 9 dollars. Well 8.55 to be fair but I can go to an Asian market or even probably safeway and get the same stuff except cook it better for half the price if not less. From what I can tell it has been lightly heated up which is enough for the sauce to be hot, the tofu to be hot but taste like nothing, and the veggies to still be semi solid. Not to mention a piece of plastic sitting nicely in the food. This isn't even spicy which it is supposed to be. Good ma po tofu you can see the chili oil because that is legit. But that costs more, and it probably isn't in the prepackaged sauce so it wasn't included. The mushroom and bamboo shoot was also prepared in the same manner. It also costs the same. The ingredients are tossed in to the point where they're warm, but haven't absorbed any of the sauce whatsoever. The brown sauce ironically has no salt and doesn't adhere to the food at all. Just an afterthought at the bottom of the box. I'm amazed at the rating of this place although this seems to be somewhat of a recurring pattern. I'll just have to keep trying more places and hopefully find more than the few that I have that are worthwhile.

Yelp
Been going here for years. Food is great and great size amount is served. Prices are great for lunches. My spot on Christmas Day. Love the staff, they're super nice.

Yelp
We really love this place. After trying a lot of other Chinese restaurants in Santa Rosa, we were told by a friend about China Garden and we haven't gone elsewhere ever since! The staff is always nice and welcoming. The food is delicious and plentiful. The prices are reasonable, too. We often get takeout, but have eaten inside many times, as well. It's located in a strip mall( Oliver's is the biggest tenant) but don't let the location stop you. I especially like the fact that the food is well- seasoned and not at all salty, or laden with msg. I can eat dinner here and not have to drink water the rest of the night! We've gotten many items over the years, including Sesame Chicken, Hunan Chicken, Mongolian Chicken, and Crab Cheese Puffs( to name a few). My husband usually orders a beef or pork dish, and has enjoyed all of them. The soups are fabulous, too. We love the Hot and Sour, and the Sizzling Rice soups. They also have a special house- made hot mustard that you have to request, but it's not to be missed! Overall, we really love the food here and will continue to go whenever we have a craving for Chinese food!

Yelp
Amazing food, friendly people and great customer service. Their sesame chicken is wonderful
google avatar

Sherry M.

Yelp
Ive been coming here for 8 years. Always loved their crab rangoon, sweetnsour pork, garlic chicken. But last time (2 month ago) the crab rangoon was inedible, it had bits of cartilage in it, i had to toss them. Im afraid to order them. The eggrolls are so greasy, i dont order them anymore either. And last time the sweetnsour pork tasted like it was fried in old oil. So i havent been back. The staff are very sweet, following covid regulations. Maybe they had a new cook? I just dont trust the cook anymore. Its disappointing, it used to be my favorite place.
google avatar

Carina L.

Yelp
It's the type of restaurant that taste like the Chinese food you had when you went with your family to dinner when you were little. It's taste Chinese. It's not washed out, boring or with any new twists. Make sense? We went in on Sunday afternoon and they offer a lunch special until 3pm. My daughter had broccoli chicken, that came with chow mein, fried rice and soup. My son has the small order of chicken won ton soup, which was enough to share with us and even take home. I had their house special chow fun. Everything was tasty, it's now our favorite place!

Joe A.

Yelp
Moo Goo Gai Pan lunch definitely lived up to its name ""Goo" being the operative word here. Vegetables all overcooked. I don't know what they did to the chicken to make it so soft but it definitely had an unnatural texture. Chow mein was bland and soft. Worst Chinese food I've had in a long time.
google avatar

Josh D.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I've tried other places and keep coming back to these guys. They've got the best chow mein around. I love the potstickers and their sweet soy sauce you dip them in. Their sweet and sour pork was on point last night. Not gritty tough and bony, just tender and delicious. Even my brother, who is quite a picky eater, said "I just can't get enough of this stuff!" Trust me, for him to compliment any food at all is reason enough to try China Garden out.

Average Guy R.

Yelp
First time we ate here. Here is our observations: 1. Very clean and well kept restaurant 2. Friendly and helpful staff 3. Excellent food (fresh and tasty) 4. Close to Oliver's Grocery Store (so we can shop before we eat) We will be back. It was truly a good experience.
google avatar

Sirena L.

Yelp
This spot has been around for some time. I remember coming here growing up in the neighborhood so here I am finally writing a review. My favorite is the hot and sour soup. You definitely get your money's worth we ordered for three, the family dinner and it was more than enough we had enough to take home to enjoy for lunch the next day. Price is fair and waitress was very friendly and helpful. This is my go to Chinese restaurant in Santa Rosa.
google avatar

Mina G.

Yelp
I must say the pork wantons were good and the spicy orange chicken was really tasty not too sweet and eat it there otherwise it gets soggy, chow mien was just ok. I might have liked it better if it wasn't so run down and it is a bit grimy all the condiments jars were sticky menus, covered in dirty fingerprints the people that work there nice enough. there was a liquor store across the parking lot where 5 people standing in the parking spaces drinking and behaving badly and they had thrown a bottle down so there was broken glass everywhere. I gotta say that's a lot of negatives for me anyway. I will leave it with 3 stars the food was good but after I add up everything I am afraid I will not be back.
