We were the only customers there. We were not greeted when we came in, idk but makes a difference. It was hot in there, the fans were not cutting it. Prices are moderate but plates are sharable. Food is made fresh and wait time was around 20 minutes. It was very tasty, only thing is broccoli beef was a bit too salty or overseasoned. The orange chicken has a very food coloring look to it, even stained our mouths orange. All in all I would get food here again and they a different combo

Food is great, eating in also a plus with free soup. ordering over phone not so good. Put on hold and never answered. First time this has happened. Busy for 10 min. Still recommend for food. Best orange chicken in town.

Had Chinese food here for the first time today because we wanted to try something other than Panda Express. I saw the Dinner Combo plates menu here and the decent price so we decided to try it out! The service was friendly and the ambiance was dull and environment is dated. Let’s talk about the food! We ordered the Daily Special which is now $16.50(?)-ish as of 5/2024. It came with orange chicken, broccoli beef, pork fried rice, pork chow mein, fried shrimp, fried chicken wings, and fried wontons. A LOT of food , RIGHT?! We were super eager to get our food! The parking lot was empty when we got there and there were no customers at the time. We purchased our order and drove home. Upon opening our box, everything looked like your ordinary Chinese food. All the fried stuff was extremely fried. They did not look appetizing at all. Super dry. The wontons were plain and flat. I thought we were going to get the wontons with stuffing inside, but no. Fried shrimp ? Shrimp was pretty non-existent. The fried chicken wings..we didn’t even try it because it looked like mystery meat to us (bleh). We enjoyed the orange chicken, beef and broccoli, and chow mein. The pork fried rice was eh. Nothing special about it. The rice was a little dry and lifeless too. I don’t think it needed the pork. Too much meat in one meal. Overall, we gave this place a solid 3. All the fried extras weren’t edible. We felt like it was just leftovers they’re trying to get rid of. Would choose Panda Express over this place any day.

Do not order soup for delivery! Or you will get Burned!. I ordered two wor won ton soups, they come with the soup and veggies and won ton in separate containers. When I opened the soup liquid it burned through the container and spilled everywhere and my hand. I called the restaurant to let them know cause it was delivery. The male manager was a jerk and said "what you want me to do about it?" Repeatedly, I said I wanted my money back and he said "you want money, you give me soup!" He was very rude and said I'd I didn't like it to call the cops and then said "BYE" like a lil kid and hung up! The woman owner wasn't any better when I called back and she said take soup out of trash and give to us and I give you money back and Im being generous! WOW worst service ever! She wanted me to put soup in plastic bag also to give to them!

Google
Service was kind but a bit slow. Atmosphere was a bit dated, but... The food was amazing. We had their egg flower soup, shrimp fried rice, veg chow mein, and Kung pao chicken. Each of their items was a big hit. I don't think I've had a better egg flower soup. Great chinese food for a good price. High recommendations.

Google
The food was okay. The service was okay. They didn’t have Pepsi, nor egg rolls, so basically nothing I wanted. However, their building and bathrooms are disgusting!! There’s mold all over the walls and the grout on the floor. The sink looks worse than a prison sink, and there’s water stains all over their restaurants ceiling! Idk how this restaurant is still in business with such a safety hazard environment! Mold toxicity is a real thing!

Google
Mine and my wife's favorite place for Chinese food! They have great customer service but the atmosphere is a little dull. The food is good and my wife is vegetarian and she loves to orange nugget dish!

Google
Amazing food!!!! Definitely try the pho it is top tier. Some of the photos under the reviews don't do this place justice! Will definitely return

Yelp
Everything is frozen. Terrible! This is a far cry from real Chinese food, it's more like mall Chinese food at best. And for the price they charge. Skip this place at all costs.

Yelp
Food wasn't good at all people were friendly and service was good but the food sucked would never go there again

Yelp
What is up with the canned or prepackaged frozen ingredients?! As a Chinese American, this is NOT Chinese food. Mu-shu pork is usually made by the customers. Here they put it together with waaay too much hoisin in the sauce, hoisin should be a condiment to be used at the customer's discretion. Here there was no option for that, unfortunately. And the size of the dang thing! It was as girthy as a burrito! Should've been size of an egg roll. Our family was quite disappointed. Well, we gave it a try. Not for us. We will go to Kowloon restaurant for real Chinese food. And just FYI, other diners are not considerate for others in the restaurant, phones blaring at the highest volume to watch whatever they are watching, you would think the restaurant was playing it overhead.

Yelp
We love this place, hands down one of the best Chinese food restaurants in town. Currently, the place is only open for takeout but it's worth your patronage during this difficult time for local businesses. We have always enjoyed their fresh ingredients, quick service, quality of food, and always willing to make sure we are happy with our order. The place is a relatively hole in the wall compared to other restaurants on Mooney, but once you find it; you'll come back again and again. Thank you for always providing our family with excellent food options!

Yelp
Ordered chow mein today and it was awful. It was brown. Yuk ! It tasted blah and noodles were so soft they were like mush. No flavor at all to the meal. They used to be really good here but not anymore. Don't waste your money on this slop.

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
I've been eating here for over 20 years and I always call my food in order for pick up usually it's under my name and my husband will go pick it up. I guess they have a new policy that they did not make their customer aware that you now have to have an ID and matching card to pick up the food and that's unfortunate because my food is done and we've waited 30 minutes and we cannot get our order. I feel like they should be held accountable for not explaining the policy. The food is great. It just sucks that their communication is going down.

Yelp
Had lunch here yesterday, and I hate to say this, but it was the worst Chinese food I'd ever had. Everything came cold. Soup came first and was lukewarm. Then our fried wontons came with sweet n sour (seriously how difficult is this to make?) I was obviously leftovers from the day prior. It tasted stale, and that rancid oil flavor deep within the wonton. Then I ordered the lunch special which was curry beef with chow mein and bacon fried rice. The chow mein and bacon fried rice was cold. The curry beef was the only thing on the plate. I really hate leaving a bad review , just tell you that I for one will never be back and I'd hate for anyone else to have to endure the lunch my dad and I did. Oh, and two lunch specials with potstickers was 55 bucks. So there's that too. It wasn't cheap for that cold food.

Yelp
Have eaten there and ordered from there for years. Never gotten anything substandard. Everything is way above board always clean, friendly, and delicious. Recommend to everybody that loves really great Asian food.

Ethan G.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE. if I COULD DO ZERO STAR I WOULD. they put metal piece in my food. Do not I repeat do not go back. Very Unsanitary.

Desiree L.

Yelp
Food is always the same, delicious!! Orange chicken lunch combo is mine and my family's go to!! It's a legit mom and pop spot, just a family serving delicious food to our community. 10/10 recommend!!
google avatar

Yelp
It may not look like the best place from the outside, but the food and service is good. The interesting thing about this Chinese restaurant is that they serve outstanding pho! That's our go to whenever we visit. The orange chicken was good too!
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
My new favorite Chinese take-out place! The chicken with black bean sauce is really good.

Yelp
We took several of our work crew to China Garden last month. They loved it so much , they wanted to go for round 2 ( wise choice ). For appetizers, we ordered Pot Stickers. Pan fried to perfection and filled with pure meat . These were huge and not the bite size portions you get at some restaurants. Of course , we've got to have Tsingtao ( Chinese Beer )along with it. Tonight's dinner consisted of Salt & Peppered Shrimp , Broccoli Beef , Stir Fry Seafood Combination along with Steamed Rice It's all good as we've ordered these plates before. I especially like the Stir Fry Seafood Combination as there's a nice assortment of the Seafood along with Vegetables. With the delicious meal and friendly service , we really enjoyed our visit. My work crew can't wait for me to take them back for round 3 *** Lai , thank you for serving our group *** 12/08/18

Yelp
Very disappointed!! Where's the Mongolian Beef?? Maybe next time I'll get what I ordered!!

Yelp
One of the better Chinese food places in the Visalia. It's our go to. Kung pao is my fav

Carol M.

Yelp

Marie C.

Yelp
Amazing food and the friendliest service in town! Happy it's back open for dine in, best chow mein ever !!

Raveen P.

Yelp
Service is terrible, they can't get a simple order correct. Don't waste your time going here

Morgan R.

Yelp
China Garden has amazing food and service! I highly recommend their pot stickers and honey walnut shrimp!
google avatar

Chris Z.

Yelp
Food was delicious ordered the double mushroom chicken house fried rice pork chow mein and egg flower soup. I like that they do half orders. Unfortunately still no dine in but that's ok! Will keep on ordering!
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Disappointed that it is now takeout only and they always seem to be out of something I'm craving. Slow service on takeout. Was much faster when they had dine in.
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese food in Visalia! I've never once had a bad meal and my only sad day is the one when they're closed.
google avatar

Yelp
Lai you have the most AMAZING customer service I've seen in quite a while! Thank you for making our first time here one to remember and definitely one that makes us want to come back! This place is the type of spot once you walk in, smell the food and know.. this is gonna be good!!! Then you are lucky enough to be greeted by all the wonderful gorgeous faces, especially Lai. She was from Start to Finish THE BEST! I got the orange chicken lunch special and the misses got the honey walnut shrimp. 21 bucks for two hearty meals! Not bad! The flavor is on point! We will definitely be coming back for more!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
I got the kung pao chicken and my husband ordered the orange chicken. I actually preferred the orange chicken. The kung pao was strangely sweet? It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting.
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Good mongolian beef. Had the lunch plate for dinner, $1 more. Chow mein & fried rice were tasty too
google avatar

Joey S.

Yelp
This place doesn't look as appealing from the outside. Will start there. But don't let that fool you. The food was great! Service was amazing! We were greeting right away and sat down quickly. Our waitress was very nice. Would definitely return.
google avatar

Mellissa S.

Yelp
Came here for a 2nd time. The rice tasted burnt and smelled smokey, almost like the oil was old. I mentioned it to the server who just replied with, oh sorry about that, hopefully next time it's better. I paid too much to throw two full plates of fried rice away. Very disappointed and will not return.

Yelp
This an hole in the wall joint. The inside isn't much and outdated. The staff here is super friendly and very nice. Since COVID a lot has changed here. They are down staff and cooks and they haven't reopened the sitting restaurant. You can only get pick up here now. This place was always my favorite Chinese food but lately it has been more greasy than normal. They have really good, pork fried rice, pork chow mien, orange chicken, sweet n sour pork, honey walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef and more. Make sure to get the spicy sauce it is really good.

Andrea E.

Yelp
I've never tried this place till today, all I can say are good things. Friendly service, the girls in the front were super friendly and polite, Thank you for that. The food is absolutely delicious, I got take out. I got the orange chicken, broccoli beef, honey walnut shrimp and chicken chow mein. All of them are absolutely delicious. Food was fresh, hot and steamy. I will never return back to cantons. This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant for take out. Thank you guys! I will be returning and telling my family and friends about your place.

Leslie A.

Yelp
Honestly had high hopes bc of the good reviews, everything tastes like freezer. Pot stickers weren't cooked all the way, still pink inside. Don't waste your money like I did. Zen is still the best. Literally took us 5 minutes to note we disliked the food. The sweet & sour pork on the plate is disgusting. Threw everything away & got tacos. Such a disappointment.

Yelp
China Garden has the greatest customer service out of all the Chinese restaurants in Visalia, period! The fact that they deliever is a bonus point for them. Oh? They have Pho, Khao Soy, and Thai Tea too? This place is simply the best, I cannot stress this enough! The broth of the Pho is packed with flavor! And honestly, it's good enough on it's own, Sriracha and Hoison sauce who? Don't need 'em. Khao Soy? Currently craving it the same time you are reading this. Thai tea? Reminds me of my childhood.. sweet and comforting! Their Hunan Chicken and Mongolian Beef plate are my favorites, it has a good amount of spice (careful! the whole chili peppers will burn like crazy) and sweetness to it. I've recommended this place to several friends and ever since then they were hooked and chose this place as their new to-go Chinese spot -- so if you haven't tried China Garden, maybe you should give it a shot? It never hurts to try! :)

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant for the last 25 years and today was the worst day ever I think they prepared the food early this morning and when I picked it up this afternoon everything looked like it was Bert dry Harley could eat it and I'm sad to say that I will not be going back there's other places that I can spend my money on the food is great I don't know what happened and what went wrong but their food is horrible if this helps someone else OK and if it doesn't OK but I'm not gonna spend my money at a place like this thank you be
google avatar

Yuko O.

Yelp
First time trying and I got the 1/2 order of shrimp chop suey. So yummy! Perfect size for lunch. The cashier was super sweet. She let me know that they offer delivery. Prices are very reasonable here and most items are available in 1/2 orders.

Yelp
Orange Chicken, ya'll!!!!! I've been to every single chinese restaurant in this damn town and this on right here is in the top 3. Really, the only way to get the food here is to order family style, which is ala carte plates of every little thing you want. DO NOT order their meals like a white person would because the quality, for some reason, isn't as good. Tyrod thinks the reason for this is because they'll cook a fresh order of something when it's a full order, and leave already cooked stuff sitting on the side for people who only order "meals," you crazy white people!!! Anyways, their orange chicken is crispy, not all soggy. The chow mein is down right delicious. Another little secret, their "clay pot" plates are money...Tyrod has been to Hong Kong and this is about as authentic as you'll get. So, go get some, Gwai Lo!!!
google avatar

Taishi K.

Yelp
Pretty decent. Chow Mein was GOOD. Potstickers okay. Orange chicken meh. Of course for chinese food its comfort food so generally good. But was not very good qaulity.
google avatar

Rob G.

Yelp
For years, we have enjoyed this restaurant......but tonight it was just awesome! Service has always been quick and friendly, and it's a comfortable atmosphere.
google avatar

Edward C.

Yelp
Was actually quite surprised when my wife and I stopped, we actually ordered soooo much food lol we took extra home, this place may not look like much on the outside or even the inside but the food... the reason why you are looking at this right now is amazing. We will definitely be revisiting.

Maribel T.

Yelp
My fave Chinese restaurant! Never disappoints, great value food, and good prices for the quantity. Unfortunately they still are not open for dine in, only take out.
google avatar

Jackiee A.

Yelp
My favorite Cantonese restaurant! I've been coming here since I was a child and will continue on. Everything is delicious, perfect for groups or on your own. They start you off with a complimentary egg flower soup. I'm a regular, the staff is friendly and polite, well trained they know all the ingredients from a dish on the menu; I'm surprised more people don't know about this place! Love how they have the red chili paste and not watered down or anything. Recommend this place to everyone! Perfect for vegetarians, egg foo young is a favorite.
google avatar

Valerie L.

Yelp
Ok, let me start off by saying that if you go off of your judge of the aesthetics of this restaurant, you will not want to eat here. I would have given this place 5 stars if the restaurant was updated and a little more kept. It is not the nicest looking for sure but let me tell you-- the food is amazing! I absolutely love this place and I wish that I lived close by so that i could come here more often. I am vegan and they have this really really really (yes three really's) delicious, scrumptious, mouth watering dish called the Orange Nugget! It is sooooo good! I was beyond impressed that they whipped up such a good meal. I also love their chow mein it has a bit of a Smokey flavor which is what I look for personally in a good chow mein. Not too greasy either! I love this place and would recommend to anyone!
google avatar

Rick W.

Yelp
Nom nom nom nom nom!! I'm from Fresno so I was looking for a Chinese food place. This place had good reviews so I tried it out. The food here is great! I had the mango chicken which I think is a seasonal dish, it's literally the best Chinese dish I've ever had in my life. I can't wait to come back and have it again although everything on the menu looks good. Next time I'm in visalia I'm stopping here for food!
google avatar

Sachin S.

Yelp
Good food with generous portion. We ordered classic chinese dinner for 3. The food was so much that we ended up eating leftovers as lunch for 3 of us next day.
google avatar

Jasmine M.

Yelp
SOOO good! I got the daily special and it had the broccoli beef, orange chicken, fried shrimp, wontons and brandy wings! It's literally all so good!
google avatar

Samantha R.

Yelp
My second time eating there and I woke up sick to my stomach the next morning . Never eating there again, I should've known better when the food didn't seem to have the right flavor. Both me and my guest ended up sick the next morning
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
The best Pho and Chinese food in town. Service superrrrgreat. Highly recomended From San Jose Ca.
google avatar

Christian D.

Yelp
My absolute favorite place to eat in Visalia. Delicious food, generous portions, reasonable prices and great staff. The General Tso and Orange Chicken are my family's go to orders.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Clean and comfortable environment. I received a bowl of soup before my lunch special, which was really nice. The service is prompt and friendly. The portions are ginormous, heaping pile that I couldnt even keep on my plate for $7. Mongolian beef is tasty and well cooked. Slightly underwhelmed by the chow mein, wish it was crispier, fried rice is solid. All in all, you'd be hard pressed to find a better mix of quantity, quality, and price anywhere...anywhere.
google avatar

Naz H.

Yelp
I've eaten in and taken out from here and had great experiences every time. The prices are very reasonable and portions are large. The food always tastes good and the waitresses are attentive. We recently moved here and have visited 5 times already. I can tell it's popular with the locals.
