This is a great mom and pop restaurant. Went during lunch and the food was good, great customer service and the price was very reasonable.

This Chinese restaurant is without a doubt HUNTSVILLE'S BEST!!! The food is constantly brought out hot and fresh! The to go portions are huge & you're able to eat off it for 2 days. Mama takes very good care of all customers!!!

I hardly ever write a review but I had to give this Restaurant one.. This restaurant looks like A hole in the wall but it's THE BEST!!! hole in the wall you ever could find best food best price. The server's are very nice the food is always 🔥 and they never run out of food. so if you are ever in Huntsville Al go and check them out. The food is always fresh. Every time we have gone in, we are greeted right away. They make me feel like they are truly happy we are there and appreciate our business.

Ive been coming here since I was a teenager. They've always had GREAT food and the owner and staff are so sweet! Dont let the buildings exterior put doubt on the food! Its great!

Skeptical of this place when I pulled into the parking. Glad I ate here. The food on the buffet was all delicious and looked fresh. Not a massive buffet, but it's all good. The service was excellent.

China Gourmet has been in Huntsville for so long! My Birthday Club frequented China Gourmet in the late 1980s, when we first started celebrating our small group's birthdays three times every year. This location was convenient for everyone and the prices were so reasonable! The staff were always kind and friendly and we could relax, visit, and open gifts and cards for a couple of hours with no issues. We never felt rushed. The interior is cozy and the building is aging; however it still has charm especially with the endless modern, flat roofed, urban restaurants popping up all over Madison County. We typically got the buffet. I enjoyed their Moo Goo Gai Pan, Beef with Broccoli, dumplings, and hot and sour soup. The buffet always had something for everyone and our non-MSG Birthday Club members never experienced headaches or other MSG related issues here. Thanks for years of memories, China Gourmet.

Three adults and seven kids. It was past 2pm and we were looking for a place after the kids finished space camp and before going to the airport/hitting the road. Options were limited and hopes were low for any place with decent food, AC, and a place for us to crash but this place FIT THE BILL. It's a complete hole in the wall, but the food was fresh. People kept coming in for either dine in or take out. The owner and wait staff were friendly. We stayed for over two hours and we'd come back!

I love to find great hidden gems when it comes to food. After coming across a couple of positive reviews and driving past China Gourmet, I thought it had potential to be one of them. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The egg rolls were greasy the rice and lo mien tasted like dingy water and that off putting taste was the same for majority of the dishes I tried. Leaving a lunch buffet hungry doesn't happen very often but it did this time. I will say it was pretty busy so I may be by myself in my opinion but this definitely wasn't the place for me. If you try it out I hope you have a better experience than I did.

Food tasted amazing! I travel from state to state and I make it a point to find Asian cuisine. Lately I've been disappointed cause of the several states I've been to, they were completely horrible. But I decided to give this place a try because the reviews were great! And they did not disappoint! Even the guy at the register was amazing. Real friendly and gave me a little history on the place. The vibe was peaceful as it should be when you're trying to eat a meal. I love this place and definitely recommend!

This is a small hidden treasure in Huntsville! I have been going here for over 15 years and it is always delicious, hot, fresh and affordable! they do not have the largest Buffett selection but everything is wonderful.

China Gourmet is one of my favorite restaurants in Huntsville. The staff and owner have always been wonderful to me, and I find the food delightful. The prices are reasonable, especially in our current financial times. I would recommend them to everyone, anytime~

My sister in law and husband loved the food here. I thought it was good but I'm not a big buffet fan. Not a fancy place at all but great service, nice staff and reasonable prices.

Just good old Chinese buffet food, done right. I had stopped going here due to COVID, but finally went back and was not disappointed. Excellent food, casual ambiance and no frills service.

This is a lovely family Chinese buffet. The staff are very friendly, the place is very clean, and the price is out of this world. The egg rolls are the highlight of my meal, they are absolutely delicious.

Food is always slappin! Fresh and regularly checked. I've been coming here for years. Cheap and good. It's never loud and it just feels like a homey place to sit down and eat. 10/10.

This by far is the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Ordered Moo goo gai pan and Chinese vegetables. Moo goo gai pan was mostly mushrooms with a few pieces of chicken in a dark brown sauce. Chinese vegetables had 2 ingredients. Cabbage and broccoli. That was it. I thought Golden Star was bad but this place is worse.

My family and I were down here to help my son move in for an internship. This is the best hole-in-the-wall Chinese food. The service was excellent and the biffer, while slightly limited, was fantastic for the price.

A smaller selection than most buffets, but the food is always hot and fresh and the price is unbeatable. My favorite is their egg drop soup. It's one of the best I ever had. The other options from meat dishes to vegetarian are all excellent. It's no surprise how busy it can get during lunch time. Highly recommend!!

I was hesitant at first reading the reviews but the price and food amount was PHENOMENAL! I ordered dumplings, general tso's chx, and Singapore noodles.... $22... portions are sooooooo huge

We have eaten here twice in a week and both times food was amazing. And have had enough leftover's to eat the next day. Even better to get it delivered by Grub south.

The WORST Chinese food I've ever eaten! The only semi decent thing here was the rice, however, it was cold just like the rest of the food in the buffet. I honestly don't even know how this place is still in business. I would've rather gone to McDonald's. We were there less then 10 minutes and left, the owner didn't care. Next stop... Chick fil A.

If you have other options open, choose one of those. I placed my order for takeout from this place through Grubhub, I ordered a dinner plate each for my father and myself. I added the request that they replace the fried rice that automatically comes with those dishes for beef lo mein and shrimp fried rice. $34.00 and an hour wait later I received cold fried rice on BOTH dishes, accompanied by stone cold crab wontons and greasy honey chicken. I'm extremely disappointed and won't be ordering from this place again.

I went in hopeful because I had heard they were good, however this is the worst Chinese buffet I've ever been to. The selection was extremely limited, a lot of the sauces on the chicken tasted too similar and the "waitstaff" if you could call them that, were very unfriendly. Bottom line this is incredibly overpriced $15.15 for two lunch buffets with waters to drink Let's end this review on a positive note, the lomein was actually pretty good and is the reason they kinda earned the one star.

Pretty average tasting Chinese food. I ordered ahead of time, but when I arrived they had not even started my food. I had to sit there and wait for almost 25 minutes after the time my order was supposed to be ready.

For a while they were the best option on GrubSouth but there are luckily many options now. I finally got fed up with their greedy tactics when it comes to condiments. Charging extra for sweet and sour wouldn't be too bad if they didn't want $1 for a tiny side and they REFUSE to give sweet sour even if you order egg rolls or crag rangoon.

Based on the reviews I went here. The staff were all very nice, unfortunately nothing they had on the bar had been replaced in a while, and was cold including the soup, even the crunchy noodles that go with the soup were very stale. I feel if they would replace the items on the buffet every 1 - 1 1/2 hours the food would most likely be very good. I will give them a second chance and hopefully it will be better.

Let me tell you, this is my favorite China restaurant of all time. I go here every week and I absolutely love their food. The chicken and broccoli, beef, chicken on a stick and especially the hot and sour soup. I've had several other hot and sour soups at other Chinese restaurants be nobody out weight theirs. And their lunch prices and affordable too. In fact, I'm going today for lunch.

This is a hole in the wall small Chinese buffet that is consistently the same each and every time. They have a small selection of "traditional' buffet items, including soups at one heck of a price. The family greets you every time, misses you wen you stay away too long and expresses their appreciation for your business. It's an eclectic crowd that frequents here, too...a hodge podge of culture, class and age mix easily in the small dining room. A sure hit when I want Chinese buffet and have only a few bucks or just don't want the big buffet hassle.

We eat there every Sunday after Church. It's a hole in the wall place and not a very fancy place but it's food is good and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and keep the buffet stocked well. The food is very good and you can't beat the price. We enjoy going their as a family.

Lunch price is very good. Selections are slim but they are usually the favorites of most. It doesn't look really clean in there but it is an old building. I go there for the price, not really the amount of selections.

Nothing fancy or ostentatious here at China Gourmet, but I keep going back because it's cleqn, the service is very good, the food is consistently good (I love the hot'n'sour soup), and the price very easy on my budget. The little Chinese lady who runs the place is cute and friendly, and she knows how to appreciate her customers. She greets everyone and remembers you after you go there a few times, and will already know your choice of drink before you order and where you like to be seated. Another plus: it's not in the busiest part of town, so it's easy to get there at lunchtime.

Mei Fun was great and a large order. General Tso's was rock hard and unfortunately got 2 orders. Egg roll was huge but greasy. Egg drop tasted too much like Campbell's chicken soup.

Although the selections are slim, this is mine and my family's favorite Chinese restaurants (even over the popular ones) in Huntsville. The owners are so sweet and very welcoming. My family has been coming here for lunch for years now because the food actually has flavor and is cooked perfectly. We've never had a bad experience. Every time we walk in the sweet lady always welcomes us with a smile and "hello!" My kids love talking to her and asking her questions lol. If you're looking for a good lunch, try this place out! They won't disappoint :)

After the horrible experience at another local Chinese buffet we gave this one a try. I was very impressed. The food was good. It's a little restaurant. Like another reviewer said, its not upscale, but what they lack in decor makes up with the friendly staff and the food. I was also impressed with the price. We will visit again!

This place is not fancy and the employees don't wear fancy uniforms, but that isn't what makes a restaurant good. It's kid/family friendly. The food is always fresh & hot. You serve yourself at the buffet, so you get what you desire. My favorite is the honey chicken. I had to go back for more! The staff is friendly and helpful with making sure everything is o.k. & that you have plenty to drink with free refills. The restaurant is clean but not fancy. Therefore it's food over ambience, which is just fine. If you want a fancy, dress up for place to eat - this is not it. If you want a friendly, clean atmosphere with great prices & delicious food, you need to eat here!

Service was exceptional... Building left a lot to be desired.... Food was almost ok, they did a good job keeping it fresh... I was there around dinner time. I was just not impressed with the taste. If u r looking for a cheap meal this is ur spot... All day buffet 5.99. Drinks less than 1.50....

I order from there often. Just found out most of the food I have delivered is coming off the buffet they have. Your order is made fresh. I actually found a hair in the rice that came with my meal. They did send another order out but requested the hair food back. The new food I received the sweet and sour chicken I took a bite and got a hair in my mouth. So will not be ordering from them ever again. The actual delivery driver also tried walking away with my change from my order 14 dollars.

As some of the other reviews state, there is not a lot of selection but all the favorites you come to expect at a Chinese buffet are there. The food was fresh and tasted great. They rotated food on a regular basis to keep the food fresh. The price is really low and more than makes up for the lower selection and the staff were very nice.

Good buffet at an excellent price. Personnel very pleasant. Buffet is not very large, but for the price the food is quite good. Value is king here.

Simple tiny cheap chinese buffet. Cozy is a good word. I like the staff, very welcoming and they will treat you like family, I am not joking. The young man always working the register is a really great guy and I've seen him welcome customers like family on many occasions. They have one or two TVs. Table service for drinks. It's a neighborhood place and not at all hipster like downtown is full of. It looks suspicious on the outside but believe me you will be surprised. It's quaint. Perfect for a family eating out on a budget.
