Only have ever done take away… it’s been awhile but Wow how it’s changed! Food was just OK. But the portion was insulting. When I saw the prices have gone up significantly I thought maybe they’ve bumped it up with portion size, taste, ingredients. Wrong on all levels! Nothing will be worth going back. When I opened the beef & broccoli I thought they gave me leftovers. I always ask for rice on the side because sometimes their sauce is too salty for me. Absolute nothing about this meal was even a pass.

We came an hour before closing and ordered chicken lo mein and roasted pork with vegetables to-go. Food was fresh and tasty.

Ordered “Pork with Vegetables” from China King and what I got was a sad comedy show in a Styrofoam box. The pork? Thin, dry slices that looked like they’d been reheated three times and still begged for water. The “vegetables”? Mostly carrots—seriously, it felt like I ordered Carrots Deluxe with a side of disappointment. A couple of snow peas showed up, probably by accident, and then everything was drowned in a salty brown sauce so heavy it could’ve stripped paint. No balance, no flavor, just carrots swimming in sludge with pork jerky on top. If this is their idea of Chinese food, I’d hate to see what happens if you order something complicated. Save yourself the money—buy a bag of baby carrots, dump a bottle of soy sauce on them, and you’ll have a better meal at home.

The lady who took my order did not speak English, and it was almost impossible to communicate. She clearly did not understand what I was trying to order, and when I asked for someone who speaks English, she refused. As a result, the order I received was nothing like what I came for — I was craving the crispy golden-fried dish I used to enjoy here 15 years ago, and instead I got something completely different. There are no pictures on the menu to point to, so without communication it was a very frustrating experience. I was extremely disappointed. I probably should have asked for a refund, but I felt they would once again pretend not to understand English. Very upsetting visit.

The order for my wife was wrong. The egg rolls had oil dripping from them and my sweet & sour shrimp tasted like them were fried in old oil. I managed to give her food away as it was untouched.

Overall the food I thought tilted toward the bland side. None of the dishes we ordered were something to write to Mom about. Bigest disappointment was the seafood pan fried noodle dish. I thought the noodles should be more crispy even after the sauce is poured over it. This was my first experience so I might give it a try again.

I came in for take away and was very pleased with my lunch special. Service was quick, meal was made to order, and the Hunan beef was very tasty. Right now, they’re only doing take away, but as I did, you can eat outside in the outdoor seating if you wouldn’t like to go far. They have a good selection of authentic Chinese and Cantonese, and very quality as well. Would highly recommend support one of the few local businesses in the Cascades plaza, cheers.

The food was good food and the service fine. We ate at the restaurant and the AC wasn't turned on so it was pretty hot inside.

My family has been going here for the past 20+ years and they have always been exceptional. The staff have always been friendly and their service is fantastic. The ambiance is very relaxed and a nice place to just dine in. The food has always been on point and has stayed consistent every time. I give big credits to them and hope they continue to do very well.

This is a hole-in-the-wall place, where I came for a lunch special but there were NO vegetarian options and they didn't even try to accommodate me. I felt turned away. Although tofu and vegetables are significantly cheaper, and easy to swap out or make something with...surprising how they lacked any effort or care. Disappointing.

Another rating 10 years from the last time I ordered. Gen tsao chicken and Singapore noodles. Verdict? Pretty darn quick and tasty! I ordered when I walked out of the Home Depot and by the time I drove to CK, it was already ready. The place look well kempt and clean. An older asian lady took my order and there was another front staff. An asian gentleman was at the wok cooking the food. There are a good amount of tables if you wanted to eat in. So the food. The chicken in the GT was huge chunks of dark meat tossed in a sweet slightly spicy sauce with some carrots and green peppers (nothing changed from a decade ago). I was pleasantly surprised how tasty the Singapore noodles was! It had just the right heat kick. $26 for a large portion of meals, not too shabby!

This place is always accurate and the food is tasty. I prefer them over many other places around. They're not the best but they're very good.

My absolute favorite spot to get Lo Mein. I have been going here for over a decade now and love it every single time. Quick fast and easy meal! The staff here is always so friendly, quick and efficient with my order.

Substandard Chinese food. It can help feed you, if you do not care about quality. Go elsewhere for something fresh and tasteful.

The food is amazing love the service ambiance is amazing. I highly recommend it to friends and family.

Good food but don't ask for special orders and be careful to check anything specific or you may not get what you ordered. You know that expression about 'the customer is always right'? Not everyone who works there knows that expression, so customers be alert.

Generally agree with other reviews that this is an OK spot for Chinese takeaway - the menu is mostly Americanized with your standard General Tso, Lo Mein, Chow Fun, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Spring Rolls, etc. The pricing is pretty reasonable for the convenience and portion, especially the lunch special combinations (which include a spring/egg roll and fried rice). The service is friendly and quick. I'd come back here for a quick take out order if I'm in the area.

Great food for the price I would recommend eating there in winter time I like the soups very much I do like the dumplings. You can't go wrong with the Singapore rice noodle that's my favourite there.

Found out when I got there that they accepts only Cash almost all the time for some reason.

Sweet and sour chicken had a weird breading, sesame chicken was basically a super sweet bbq sauce but not in a good way. We also had an eggroll and spring rolls, both were so greasy and not in your traditional wonton paper. Lastly our stomachs were in knots later that night and we know it has to be from the food given the overly greasy and not great tasting food.

I'm back. I had the Triple Delight again. It's very good. The service has definitely gotten better over the years. Quick service too.

I had not been here in a long time but my kids really wanted to come. It was really good and the people worked there were super friendly. Will come back soon!

Yesterday, September 30, 2024 I went with my granddaughter to pick-up several dishes of Chinese food from the China King in Sterling. The time was 10:55 A.M. The door was unlocked and we entered and the cashier told us to get out because they do not open until 11AM. We exited and stood outside by the door in the rain for 5 minutes. The cashier was capricious and hateful, and she needs a lesson on customer service. The food is O.K. but the employees are rude.

It was very unsanitary in the resturant and I am a clean freak and I didnt like that. Also I saw their meat and veggies sitting outside for a while in the back of the restaurant which I thought was odd. But that's all I have to say because it just didn't seem edible to me. There are many restaurants near there that are better.

Food is good for fast take out place and prices are pretty good as well and service is always good. Friendly and nice.

I really like their chicken of 4 seasons and always want to go there when we are in northern va.

After being disappointed by countless other Chinese takeout spots in the area, I really got to give it to China King. I've been coming to their different locations for about 10 years and they are consistently good now that I have figured out what I like here. The value is great. It's casual and fast. Lady at the counter is nice. Not the best I've ever had, but solid value and consistency makes this my favorite go to in the area when I don't want to venture far to get my favorite. ...and the icing on the cake, China King has the BEST egg rolls in town. Seriously, I've been on an egg roll kick lately, and I've been trying them all. Most places have crappy egg rolls, with just cabbage or some boring mix. China Kings egg rolls actually have some meat in them and the flavor is hands down my favorite in town. Like I've actually gone there and ordered JUST an egg roll good.

We just called in dinner to their Sterling and had a terrible experience I have been going to China King for so many years but after finding a BUG, in the Chicken and Broccoli the have lost a long time customer for good. It was literal , a half carcass of a beetle or something similar and here's the proof. BEWARE, seriously!!!!! And when my husband called to tell them all they could say is you want another one. He told them no and to just clean up the kitchen.

good contents in the egg rolls but they are always over fried and greasy. would be great egg rolls if the wrappers were tender

This place is reasonably priced and hits the spot when you want American style Chinese food. The egg rolls are good but a little greasy! I really liked the little steam dumplings and the Singapore rice noodles that I ordered. The noodles were little dry but otherwise pretty tasty!

This place is one to avoid . Order shrimp fried rice and it was bad . Taste like boiled rice no flavor ( I'm sure it's frozen food ) , and a disappointment from packaging to no even a fortune cookie or chop sticks or a fork . Call and ask for a refund but they said will do it only if I drive the food back to them ... Will never go back there . What a mistake , food when to the truck can . Now my dilema what to eat for dinner .... I give them 1 start because it was food in the container

I had the dumplings. They had one type, pork. Steamed or fried. I got 8 of each. They were not good. I do not recommend them. The service was fine, but location could use a face lift. Bathroom is in horrible shape. Look for others options in this area. Easy parking.

They still serve food in styrofoam containers, so I can't eat here anymore until they switch to cardboard. Too many other more responsible and healthy options are available.

Alway a treat! The food is delicious and the customer service is awesome. They never disappoint.

Best Chinese food I've had in the Ashburn/Leesburg area! My husband and I are Chinese food lovers, so we have tried almost every place in the area since moving here. Every place we've had has been disappointing. BUT China King is so good! I personally love their fried rice! We get the general tso (extra spicy) and the sesame chicken and have never been disappointed. The vegetable rolls are super good too! I definitely recommend this wonderful place! You won't be disappointed :)

Horrible.... food was truly bad... bland too much grease no flavor at all and seemed old. Praying I don't get sick....

Umm well although the pricing is fair the food is not great. We ordered shrimp with veggies and the shrimp were itty bitty tiny pieces, they are similar to frozen ones you can get at Walmart. The orange chicken was 40% chicken and 60 the stuff they coat it with I guess. The beef king pao was not great. Only celery was added and the beef was very hard. And sesame chicken is the same as orange just with the seeds of course. I wouldn't recommend honestly. But you can try and see maybe other dishes are better.

This place is so good I only get chicken and broccoli cause ITS SO GOOD it's a good go to restaurant if you want to just have a quick lunch with very cheap price with high quality you have to at least try it

Sad:( Got my fav Chinese dish of Sesame Chicken... Not good. A touch over cooked.. Dry and crispy. Odd flavor. However! Hubby got the Triple Delight and it was good. Portion a little smaller than other places we have been but the price was several $$ cheaper too! Restaurant is clean and nice and offers outside seating. Staff that answered the phone and at the counter were friendly.

I'm astonished this place is still in business. I ordered bland beef lo mein, bland pork fried rice(I think it was, I couldn't find the pork), boneless short ribs which came with the bone in and tasted like they were microwaved then doused in some sauce that was watered down with canola oil. Don't recommend the frozen, unappetizing "egg rolls" either. The only reason I went to this place is because it was convenient and I hadn't eaten all day. Shoulda went to chopsticks house so I didn't have to force my dinner down. Oh yea I forgot they charge 25 cents a fortune cookie lmao.

Your typical cheap "Chinese" takeaway. China King makes so-so food that is edible but will regreting your decision in the bathroom later. I ordered a General Tso's Chicken and an eggroll, my acid test of an Americanized Chinese resturaunt. The eggroll was very greasy and bland. The chicken was not spicy, it was however fatty, full of sinue, and the flavours were not balanced. On a later visit, I found their soup and fried rice are fairly decent. The place does take credit cards; however instead of a receipt, they give you a handwritten guest check in chinese

The good thing about China King is their prices. You really can't beat it. Some times for dinner, you just don't want a large portion. Most Chinese take out places have a lunch and dinner prices. China is one price all day long. These one sized meals are enough for either lunch or dinner. I also like the fact they are serving some dishes you can't find at too many places. Things like dried bean curd and pork, and ja jiang mein. Yes this place is a chain, but I have noticed that of all the locations I've been to, the food taste the same. On this trip, I had the dried bean curd and pork. I can't find this dish at too many places. Their version is pretty good, not the best I've had, but still good. I can't complain. =) I've also had their chicken and cashews, a nice americanized dish, but still tasty. The people here are nice, the service is fast. What more can you ask for. Oh, yeah, I'll say it again. It's CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. Just like me :)

Pretty much the exact same as all other China Kings in the area (points for consistency). It is cheap, acceptable Chinese food. This store didn't seem as quick as some of the other ones. It is in a nicer location.

Food was average at best. Beef wasnt good quality and food lacked flavor. Rice was ok.

The food at China King is always cooked fresh and is dirt cheap! The General Tso's chicken is under $8 compared to other places in the area that charge $13+. The food isn't the best, but you really can't beat the value. There is always a steady flow of business, mostly takeout, and the restaurant itself is clean. My only gripe is how cheap they are about giving extras such as containers, plates, or sauces. They always act like it's a hassle to provide more. I guess that's how they keep prices so low. Our regular orders include General Tso, Black Pepper Steak, which is flank steak with onions and broccoli and just a ton of pepper sprinkled on toplo mein (their version is noodles without all the normal shredded veggies), fried won tons, and/or spring rolls.

Possibly one of the most disgusting Chinese places I've had the displeasure of eating at! I ended up throwing half of it away! And that's saying some thing because I'm fat lmfao! The wontons were hard as a brick! And the sesame chicken was awful! About the only thing i enjoyed was the white rice! And when I went and asked for some sweet and sour sauce to make my wontons more edible the manager told me she would have to charge me for it! No thanks! I've wasted enough of my money!

Years ago we went to the original and first store on SPRING STREET, in Herndon. We moved to Sterling, and China King was removed from my mind. On a whim the hubbie and I ordered carry-out the other night.. The one good thing is that comparatively speaking it is cheap.. But this is a case of you get what you pay for. Shrimp and Cashews were dismal, and Sweet and Sour Pork was mere nuggets of dried pig cleverly concealed in a wad of fried dough... The Won-Ton soup was akin to dishwater. China King did rule years ago, but they sadly have lost their crown imho.

I have been coming here for more than 13 years now and always the the Chicken and Broccoli extra spicy with fried rice. This is the best Chinese I have ever had and will always come here for my Chinese fix!

Not sure what this place is serving. How do you mess up beef and broccoli? Wasted money. Eh--you win some, you lose some.

This is an alright Chinese restaurant. I wouldn't say it's amazing, or horrible. It's just alright. It's also fast and convenient. I haven't been there in a while, because I know I can get better food elsewhere, but if I had to go back I wouldn't go kicking and screaming. It's alright.

Decent place for a decent price. Clean eating area, food comes quick and good service. The lunch combinations are very well done (main, rice, egg roll). I'd be interested to see what it's like for dinner. I'll be back.

The taste is not as all other Chinese place like even panda express. This place is terrible. I ordered le mein and it was just boiled vegetable and macaroni without taste. We also ordered one kung pao chicken and it came salty, the chicken was raw and smelled and tasted like eating raw food. The order came with boiled rice. But we wanted fried rice. . Everything was terrible. Not recommended. I have to throw all left overs away.

Food is very reasonably priced. Nice and fresh. Friendly staff working. Ordered the Kung Pao combo. A lot of food for the money. Nice restaurant to visit.

This place is a hit with our family. Chicken fried rice, kung pao chicken, beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, all the soups and egg rolls are always our goto. And for the wonton soup, the wontons are made in house. Always will recommend this place.

Mediocre at best. Orange chicken lacked flavor. Counter staff and cooks yelling. Not a relaxing place to eat.
