China Kitchen

"This restaurant offers high-end Chinese cuisine in a luxury hotel setting. Sink into a chair at a big round table, take your taste buds on a journey and let the impeccably organised staff look after you. The master Chinese chef crafts classic Cantonese fare, while visiting chefs make favourites from their home towns, including Sichuan and Shanghai. A dim sum buffet is offered at lunch." - Michelin Inspector

Went there on 28 August 2025 for the dim sum buffet lunch. I’d say it was very good value and we could not sample all of the offerings on the menu. Staff and manager were very helpful and attentive. Definitely go back again.

The food is really tasty. We ordered the mapo tofu, sweet and sour pork, spicy beef, sea bass in sour soup, and a few other dishes. The spicy dishes are definitely spicy! I would say they taste a lot like sichuan food. The service was great and even though there are mosquitos in the restaurant, they also provide mosquito spray so you don’t get eaten alive.

Way understaffed. Mediocre taste and quality of dimsum. Worst sichaun soup in my life , way too sour - impossible to eat ( waitress kindly changed for the second bowl but sadly still way too sour ) A disgrace to michelin guide

The food was decent, and our two waitresses were really friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. However, the experience took a turn when it came to paying. We paid our bill in cash (total was 1,514.80 baht, we paid using 2,000 baht) and waited for our change. While we were waiting, I booked a Grab car that was about 10 minutes away, figuring we had plenty of time. After waiting for a while, I got up, and a male staff member came out and stared at me. He held up his hand like he was stopping me and said, "You have to wait for your check," as if I was trying to leave without paying. I told him we had already paid and were just waiting for our change. He then mentioned that cash payments were handled on another floor, something no one had told us beforehand. If we’d known that, we could have planned our Grab car accordingly. What bothered me the most, though, was how differently he treated other customers. A white family sitting near us got a warm and welcoming attitude from him, while I (an Asian- Hmong) was treated like I was trying to skip out on the bill. It was frustrating and honestly, really upsetting to be treated that way when I had paid just like everyone else. This experience left me feeling discriminated against and unfairly judged, which significantly detracted from our overall dining experience. To prevent situations like this in the future, I recommend your restaurant improve communication with guests regarding their payment process. For instance, if cash payments require additional time due to being handled on another floor, servers should inform customers upfront so they know what to expect. Additionally, staff training on providing consistent and respectful service to all patrons would be beneficial. Ensuring that every customer feels valued and treated equally, regardless of background, will go a long way in creating a welcoming and positive dining experience.

This 5-star hotel in Chiang Mai offers an exceptional dim sum experience with a wide variety of delicious dim sum at a reasonable price. It is highly recommended for all dim sum lovers. A must visit if you're going n this area. Reservation is required to avoid disappointment as business is very good.

Very impressed. The food, the service, the atmosphere all excellent. We went as a family of 5 with two teenagers and a toddler. Everyone found the food really delicious including the youngest one who loved the fried rice dish. The service was very attentive and the prices are more than reasonable for a restaurant that is situated in a fancy hotel. We will definitely go back again before we leave. Highly recommended.

The all-you-can-eat dim sum is definitely worth of money! We love the fried crispy rice roll with shrimp, salted egg bun and mango sago, they are delicious! Since we are from Hong Kong, we both think that the shrimp dumplings and siu mai are not the best here, though they are still tasty. Overall, we enjoyed the food, the vibe and hospitality here in China Kitchen.

On the first floor of Shangri-La Hotel, located close to the ancient city. The lunch dim sum at the Chinese restaurant is delicious. The service here is very good, especially the warm hospitality of Glof and Tie staff, and the soft music is relaxing. The price is also very suitable, 498 baht per person. grateful!
