Ordered on Instacart, which uses Uber Eats. If only I had read the Google reviews first! I was suckered by the BOGO General Tso's and Sesame "Chicken." I never write reviews - and if this was just bad Chinese food like we've all had, I'd say nothing. But, for this place, I'd write to the Attorney General if necessary. Calling what I received "food" is a leap of faith. As others have said, there was ZERO chicken (and I cut open many pieces with kitchen shears). In the pictures, I put a toothpick next to what might be meat -- black and crusty bits, smaller than a pea. And the deep fried dough chewed like a car tire. Beyond gross.

Google
Ordered sesame chicken and general tso, received the worst interpretation of both I've ever had. There was almost no chicken, was 99% batter and the sauces were super thin. I've ordered from here before and it was average, but this was TERRIBLE! I don't write reviews and I've never thrown out takeout, but this place is exceptional in that regard. Absolutely unpalatable and intentionally made such to reduce cost and abuse customers. I'm reporting this restaurant to the service platforms because there's absolutely no way any person could make such bad "food" without knowingly seeking to defraud the consumer. I eat out very rarely, maybe once a month or two -- thank you for making my experience unforgettable. Feel free to reach out to me for a refund, but given the consistency of similar reviews -- it seems obvious whoever is in charge of the kitchen here should suffer for their crimes against humanity.

Google
This was hands-down by far by 50+ years of existence the worst food order I have ever experienced and I’ve traveled all over the world. I’ve been in hundreds of hotels and hundreds of different restaurants and had hundreds of different delivery experiences. It was delivered by Uber eats which was fine. The Uber driver was great. The food itself uneditable if I could communicate to the Board of Health to shut this restaurant down immediately I would it was beyond edible. I only ate a couple of things of the rice. I had to throw the rest away. The chicken was not chewable. It smelled bad. It was horrendous. Whatever you do do not order from this restaurant. It was a -10. I hope they close their food was despicable.

Briana W.

Google
I ordered off uber eats and so ive never been in the place but I ordered shrimp fried rice and chicken wings with the 2 for 1 dumplings. The chicken was flavorless the rice was the same they DIDNT put the shrimp in the dam rice and i paid 34$ for that I promise u i will never look in the direction of china max again idk if it was the only thing in this earth left to eat i will never in my life AND on top of the no flavor there was LETTUCE in my food random lettuce like wth thats disgusting made me not even want the food 34$ down the drain well 10 because the refunded me 19$ back so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Google
Yesterday I ordered a beef with Chinese kale in Uber. Your promotion is buy one get one free. I only received one. I didn't receive 2. I contacted the platform but they didn't handle the problem. If you can't do that, don't add this promotion because I ordered it just for this promotion.

Jacob R.

Google
Super friendly staff and amazing food! The Lo Mein, fried rice and egg rolls were excellent! I will be ordering from here again!

Wong J.

Google
I ordered delivery. The food was cold. The sesame chicken had no chicken, a lot of the pieces are all breading and if there’s chicken, it was chicken jerky. I called and the worker said that’s the way they make it (all breading). She said if I don’t like the food, I can call Ubereat. That’s the solution. Chinese takeout dishes like the sesame chicken often have too much breading but this was mostly breading with MOST of the pieces ALL breading, it was inedible and very disappointing.

Ms H.

Google
This food is HORRIBLE! I have never had such tasteless food from a Chinese restaurant in my life! The chicken has absolutely no taste whatsoever the rice is brown and tasteless as well and everything looks burnt or like it was prepared in old oil. I opened the box and was immediately dissatisfied. Just shut the place down at this point I’m disgusted. It’s so upsetting to be craving something and it turns out it’s DISGUSTING and unpleasant.

Yelp
It's been a few years since we've been here since we had moved to another city. This used to be a regular go-to for us. This first visit back after 5 years was not what I remember, unfortunately. The beef had a lot of hard cartilage, the chicken was quite chewy as well. The Rangoon was good, the fried wings were extra crispy. Food was ready fast, and they were as friendly as always, the quality just wasn't what it once was.

Yelp
Been going to this place for at least 15 years. I love everything about it! Great food, great service and decently priced. Love the Singapore mei fun and crab rangoons

Yelp
If only I had read the Google reviews first!! I have a high tolerance for mediocrity, but what this place sent to me is an insult and actually made me angry. I ordered on Instacart, which uses Uber Eats. They advertised BOGO General Tso's and Sesame "Chicken" ($19 per serving). I ordered two of each. If it was just a case of bad Chinese food, I'd say nothing. But you can hardly call what they gave me "food" -- and to call it "chicken" is, well, an outright lie. If you eat Chinese food, like I have over a lifetime, you've probably had these dishes a hundred times. We've all had mediocre -- and just moved on to the next place, right? Tonight, after gnawing my way through some chunks (my hunger level was set at "car tire"), I stopped. For the first time in my life, I thought: "I need to cut this 'stuff' open and see what I'm eating." Which is what I did. As I had expected by then, there was ZERO "chicken" to be found. Alas, I knew that Instacart or PayPal would want proof, so I cut open many pieces with kitchen shears and took pictures. I even put a toothpick next to what might be meat -- black and crusty bits that would give you that full body shiver. It's 7 hours later, and whatever it was I ate is still making itself known in my throat. I don't blame the cooks. Whoever owns this place should be forced to sit down and eat the excrement that was delivered to my door.

Vera S.

Yelp
I went to this one in Crossgates Mall Albany NY, and very unhappy and disappointed, I had noodles which had nothing in it I asked for Borbon chicken and got which looked like Orange chicken, I will not be going there again.

Yelp
Kung Po Chicken - Went there at almost 9:30 pm and the owner took an order for two dinner and an appetiser to go order. Food was ready in 10 mins like she said. China Max is my neighbourhood spot. Food tastes excellent and portions are generous. Outside parking and it's busy so you know your food is not old and stale.
google avatar

Rob O.

Yelp
The food is off. We ordered General Tso's chicken. It was a two for one. Thr bill still somehow came to over 30 bucks. The chicken is rubbery and the sauce is like simple syrup. We will not be ordering from here again.

Yelp
On the look for a new go-to Chinese place as my.old haunt closed. Portions are smaller. Prices are more. Probably was just spoiled. Food was good. Enjoyed the crab Rangoon. Came with huge amount of sweet and sour sauce. Pork lo mein was flavorful but way too many veggies vs noodles. Sweet and sour pork was fried perfectly, not a fan of their style dumplings. Too thin on the skin for my liking. Sesame chicken was the best menu item we had. Will order again.
google avatar

Jillian R.

Yelp
Standard Chinese restaurant. Nothing special but also great if you are looking for something fast. I usually stop in and order and my food is ready in about 10 minutes. The dinner specials are probably the best value- entree rice and egg roll for 8.99. You can also add on a wonton soup for .99. It's not the best, but still good (excuse the meme reference). Parking can be a little tight but there is a lot next door to the plaza if there is no room in the front. Beware it's full of holes though so if you can score a front spot that's best. I had the beef and broccoli and egg roll. I would have preferred a more substantial portion of beef, but what do I expect when it's 8.99??? Veggie portion and rice portion very good!
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
First time ordering. Not much flavor. SMALL portions for price. Hardly any chicken in the lo mein. Not too many onions which is totally fine with me!
google avatar

Robert F.

Yelp
Horrible food, greasy and delivered lukewarm. I do not recommend getting food from this restaurant. Just take a look at the location.

Yelp
Don't ever buy an Apple computer if you are in the Far East. They are manufactured in Shanghai and will fall apart as soon as you get back to your home country. They are known as "China Macs" and are perhaps the worst investment you can make. Ever. Like, ever. I found this out the hard way. I don't mean that I bought one. I mean I had to listen to 1,000 Chinese people screaming at me about it last time I was back East. Good times though. Good times. This restaurant relies on aforementioned broken-down computers to run, so I'm surprised they run so efficiently. Given that they run using "China Macs". Actually I was expecting amazing delicious Chinese food based on some friends' recommendations and based on the reviews here. What I got was fairly average, it wasn't awful but it wasn't amazing either. The service was really nice and prices are dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt cheap so based on this alone, I was going to give them a 4. Unfortunately, I also tried the Bubble Teas. Oh. My Goodness. Overpriced and probably the worst tasting bubble teas I've ever had. I had to throw them out immediately. They tasted so old, they had bits and bobs in them, they were just... utterly gross. The food is worth 4 stars, skip the drinks, enjoy your meal, and don't ever buy an Apple Computer from Shanghai. Like. Ever.

Yelp
I had the sesame chicken, the scechuan chicken, fried dunplings, and some bubble teas from here. Overall the meal was well done. It fell short of five stars because of a few things for me. The Passion Fruit Bubble teas was way too sweet. Like half a jar of sugar to sweet. The sesame chicken was crunchy and delicious. The szechuan chicken was advertised as hot and spicy but left little to desire. It tasted bland and greasy with no flavor. The rice was cooked perfectly and the dumpling were great.

Yelp
After a long day I had a hankering for vegetarian Chinese food, and hit up DoorDash to see what Chinese places had the most reasonable delivery fees. China Max caught my eye. I was about to pull the trigger on a tofu dish, when I scrolled the menu further and came across another vegetarian section. There were about a dozen Chinese favorites, all prepared with meat'less soy meats!! :-O I haven't seen this option on a Chinese menu before, so I had to take the plunge!! I ordered "Beef" & Vegetables in Garlic Sauce, and General Tso "Chicken", plus an extra order of white rice. Delivery was fairly fast, accurate, packaged well, and the dishes arrived still pretty warm. Regarding the taste ... YUMMO!! The General Tso "Chicken" was a bit chewy, but fried soy meat is tricky, and they did about the best you can with that preparation. Even so, it was such a treat to get General Tso "Chicken" with that sweet, sticky, spicy sauce and breaded "chicken". The "Beef" and Vegetables in Garlic Sauce was my favorite of the two dishes. My husband came home unexpectedly, saw my food on the counter, and was all "can I have some of this beef?" It looked very beef-like, and had a great savory, salty beef'esque taste to it, with that wonderful creamy heat of a good garlic sauce. The "beef" was tender and delicious!! My meat-eating husband enjoyed his bite, but I did not share much, ha!! :-P The vegetable fried rice and vegetable spring rolls that came with each vegetarian combo meal were also tasty, as was the fluffy white rice side. Prices were reasonable too; each combo that included fried rice and a spring roll was just $11.50, and portions generously filled up the takeout containers. I am IMPRESSED and APPRECIATIVE to have found a Chinese takeout option that has vegetarian options beyond just tofu and bean curd. I will definitely be ordering again--thanks for loving the vegetarian community, China Max!! :-D

Yelp
This place is my "go to" for Chinese delivery. I've actually never been inside so I can't comment on the location. I've tried many dishes and have never been disappointed. It's certainly not the best I've had but it's solid and consistent. The cashew chicken stands out . The hot and sour soup is always a little different but tasty. The best thing about this place is their delivery time. I don't think I've ever waited longer than 30 minutes. It's almost amazing how quick they are. As far as delivery goes, the food is always hot and quick. Sure I've had better, but never had faster delivery times.

Julie G.

Yelp
I feel sorry for anyone that gives this place a good review. You have never had good Chinese food. Lo main smelled like dog food. Sesame chicken has broccoli that was raw and spongy weird texture. There was no chicken in it. Egg roll had to have been cooked this morning, was like a rock. I spent 72 dollars and no one ate.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
I ordered from here for the first time and tried the general tso chicken with vegetable fried rice and egg roll. It tasted good, but immediately after consuming I became ill. The food here gave me food poisoning. I also ordered a honey milk tea that tasted more like chocolate, but flavor was super subtle and diluted, tasted more water than anything. I would not recommend their milk tea.
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
Food was extremely bland. Special fried rice had absolutely no flavor, egg foo young was extremely greasy and no flavor. Asked for utensils and condiments and nothing was included. Very dissatisfied.

Rachelle M.

Yelp
Quality of food is horrible. Disgusting greasy and old. Veggies in rice are always under onions chopped way too big. Rice is dry and nasty.never ordering again. Every order terrible and Im fed up!
google avatar

Justin T.

Yelp
I absolutely love this restaurant. The people who work here are always so nice and so courteous. I have never had an unpleasant experience with anybody who works here. When I leave instructions for my food to be fried hard they always make sure it's just right. The prices they have are fair and reasonable and I'm moving soon and hope I find a restaurant close by with service as good as this one. If you order from them they will not disappoint.
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
We placed a large order for eight people by phone. The woman took the order and repeated what I said to be sure she got the order correctly. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious! If I lived in the area, we would be going to this restaurant often!!
google avatar

Sam F.

Yelp
My wife is pretty picky about Chinese food. We've regularly driven across town to get to a place that meets her approval. So when our daughter in law recommended China Max we were skeptical. After loving every minute of their Seafood Platter, Beef with Garlic Sauce, Dumplings, Fried Rice, and Lo Mein we are fans. It's easy to order on line, the food was ready in twenty minutes, and I saved two gallons of gas! Everyone is happy with China Max.
google avatar

Paulina N.

Yelp
By far the WORST Chinese restaurant I've ever ordered from. Be prepared that a "pint" is a literal handful portion and a "quart" looks like it belongs on the kids menu. I ordered 2 orders of chow mein...the first container was a heaping amount of soggy vegetables souped in mystery sauce (no noodles) and the second was a small container of vegetables in what may be broth(?), again NO NOODLES. The steamed chicken was DEFINITELY questionable. It did not even taste like chicken, let alone look like it. It was just terrible. Ordered lunch for 2 and was unhappy with every single item (4) that arrived. All we ended up eating was way too much white rice (which we also did not order and received 4 containers of it). Do NOT recommend.

Desiray S.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place has 3.5 stars I am originally from NYC (best Chinese food on earth) this is closest I have come to NYC style Chinese! Being from the ctoy restaurant 101 is if the people behind the counter see antisocial then the food is bomb (yuuum) hope my rating pushes them up! But then again their prices might go up so keep hating! very good pricing! Great food! Thanks

Terri M.

Yelp
I ordered this food on Uber eats and they were having some type of promotion. The promotion was buy one get one free. They had this promotion for the chicken and broccoli, general tso chicken and a few other things. I purchased the chicken and broccoli and general tso chicken. The chicken and broccoli made my boyfriend and I so sick. I think I had food poisoning. It seems like the reason why they had that special is because they were about to discard the food so they decided to sell. I spoke to some of my coworkers about this experience and some of them shared a similar experience with this place. I would not suggest eating from here. And I am contacting the better business bureau.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
I like them because the owners are consistent local people. I dislike the high prices. The food is ok nothing to write home to mom about.
google avatar

Rita J.

Yelp
I find this this to be really good Chinese food. The service is fast and friendly. It's my son's go to place, so I have had it many times by default. "Hey mom, I'm ordering Chinese what do you want". I'm fond of the steamed dumplings and vegetable lo mein. He's a general tso lover. I've had the wonton soup and found the wontons to be tough on my last visit, the flavor was fantastic though. Located in a little plaza, parking can be a nightmare in the winter.
google avatar

Sarama D.

Yelp
A-ok as per yelp definition. Decent enough chinese take out place. We got a kung po shrimp, general tso chicken, beef and broccoli and a small side pork lo mein oh and some eggrolls too. Of everything Id say the lo mein was the best thing followed by the egg rolls. The generals here was very basic and one note ( almost tasted like sweet and sour sauce tbh). Really the lo mein is the only thing id probably ever come back here for...but that said i would come back for it so i guess that saying something. And if an eggroll happened to fall into the bag i wouldnt really complain :)

Shannon G.

Yelp
This is my bf and myself favorite spot when we first discovered China max we ate from here three times a week for a month I'm a pescatarian i have many opinions other than chicken I love it here
google avatar

Vee S.

Yelp
Why you gotta do this to me, China Max? You were so delicious and quality and then you decided to give this here vegetarian MEAT instead of faux-chicken TWICE. Yes, I liked China Max so much that I went back even after the first mix-up. If you'd like to brave it, my fellow veggies, then make sure you are talking to the dude/owner/cook and not the woman at the counter. I said vegetarian very clearly on both occasions and she seemed to just ignore it in a hurry to get the order on through. Very nice people with great food at affordable prices, just not sure I can return.

Miri K.

Yelp
We always order take out. It's always delicious, cost effective and service is great. They have our pick up ready usually in 10 or 15 minutes. We order there every Thursday is Chinese Food Take our Day! Delicious! My husband and I love their food and recommend it! We need to support our local business and not worry about eating out! Bon Apetit!
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
Ordered from here through skip the dishes ordered what I thought was JUST Szechuan chicken got it and it was Szechuan chicken and stir fry with veggies and I don't like veggies and that I admit WAS 100% MY FAULT for not reading but the chicken was thin and flat and and not even that good really didn't have much flavor I also got lo-men noodles they were ok but I have had better also got a eggroll it was not to good either really crispy wasted $23 will NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
Some items are okay and some are a bit more marginal. The Egg Foo Young patty part was good but the brown sauce tasted like a sweet Thai peanut sauce with extra soy sauce. I added some fish sauce and it helped a bit but still no where near the brown sauce at TinTin. The Fried Rice was okay. Flavor was good and it wasn't greasy but the pork pieces were often very fatty and stringy. Shrimp toast had good texture and surprisingly was not greasy but it had very little favor. Crabmeat Rangoon - one of my all time fav treats - the filling was fantastic - best I've had - but the wrapper was very thick and wrapped like a wonton instead of a triangle. It gave it a hard edges. DO NOT ORDER THE FRIED JUMBO SHRIMP! It is a very thin flat tough shrimp coated with a lot of breading. I think it was 1 part shrimp to 3 parts breading. Very disappointing. Nearby, I think Tin Tin and Crystal Asian Cuisine are much better.
google avatar

Renee F.

Yelp
The food here is good but the customer service is horrendous. To begin, it took about 15 minutes for me to get MY ORDER PLACED. I was transferred to multiple employees who all had a hard time understanding the order I wanted to place. Each employee was very rude and cut me off each time I tried to speak. On top of this discrepancy, the food took an hour and 45 minutes so when it came it was so cold. But the food was good after I reheated it, I guess. Please fix your service or you will continue to lose business because people won't reorder again. Thank you.

Anon Y.

Yelp
Only giving three stars because I never ate there. Came in many times and found the staff to be very professional, sanitary, and courteous.

Orianna P.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! The food is not that good and the chicken seems to be either old or undercooked. If you want to get good, quality Chinese go to gin gin's!

Nina J.

Yelp
TERRIBLE!!! We ordered chicken low mean and chicken chow mein. The chow mein was all veggie and SLIMY when I called to complain the woman insisted she was right I was wrong talked over me. Thanks to her the entire back office will not order here again. Could have said you would offer a meal or a discount something but instead chose to be rude and speak over a customer a mile a minute. If she would have listened and apologized for our order and the veggies didn't look this way I would have no issue
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery and it got here a lot quicker than expected. The food was piping hot and was some of the best Chinese food I've had in Buffalo.
google avatar

Déja L.

Yelp
Really good, everything is usually hot and fresh, and fried to perfection. Their fried foods are good, fried rice dishes and white rice dishes are delicious and pack alot of flavor. This place is a delicious spot for large portions of food for a good price.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Very good. We order here once a week and not only is the food good, but it is usually very quick. We live only a mile away and will typically order and leave right away to get it. It is usually waiting for us when we get there. Order the General Tso's chicken, it's my favorite!

Bailey R.

Yelp
We always order online through Seamless. Food is delivered on time, hot, and always correct. Typical American Chinese food. The wonton soup is so good - the wontons do not get soggy or fall apart! We enjoy the egg rolls, spring rolls, and sesame chicken! The lo mein and sweet and sour chicken are excellent too. Always comes with the complimentary carton of white rice and some fortune cookies! It's our new favorite American Chinese food place though we still go to Miss Hot Cafe for dim sum! I've never been inside the restaurant, just ordered online, so I can't speak to parking or decor.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
This place is always consistent. The best in my opinion. I will mention one dish, because with this dish it is all you need. The"BBQ Spare ribs", on the bone. If you like sticky sweet tender bbq ribs then these are a must try! With their own twist on them I promise they will not disappoint...
google avatar

Shawn B.

Yelp
This place gets it wrong 2 out of 3 times. The first time I ordered I order fries for my son they gave him rice. No biggie he didn't mind, the last time I ordered they forgot 1/2 my order and wouldn't re- deliver. The egg roll tasted sour and the chicken had too much batter. Never again!!!
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
I have lived in this area for about 1-1/2 yrs and had passed this restaurant many times, over the winter I stopped and I am very pleased that I did. I love that I can order online and 10 mins later I can pick up my food. The hours are very good and the food is excellent, the portions are also better size than most other places for take out in the area, I have tried other places around but they are by far the best of the bunch.
google avatar

Alisha C.

Yelp
I went here late at night before closing. Idk If that has alot to do with the fact that my General Tso Chicken was soggy or not. The lo mein was disappointing bc I LOVE a good lo mein..and this was not. Again, not sure if it's due to ordering 15 mins before closing. He egg rolls however were very good. I am an egg roll addict and these hit the spot. I was especially happy to see that they cleaned the shrimp (lots of Chinese resturants miss this). Overall, they just get 3 stars because of the lo mein and General Tso Chicken. I was disappointed but perhaps it's alot better earlier in the day.
google avatar

Maybelle S.

Yelp
Pretty decent Chinese food in Buffalo for its price. Love how fast the delivery was, especially on a snowy day. Their hot and sour soup is pretty exceptional. Also the service is really good. They initially delivered the wrong item to me; but once i called them about it, they immediately delivered the correct one again to me within 30 min. Would definitely order from here again.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Easy review. Everything is great, portions are large and prices are fair. I have been ordering take-out Chinese from here for many years and have never had a bad experience. The chow ho fun is one of my favorite dishes. It has wide rice noodles vegetables and your choice of meatand I am always more than satisfied. Their hot and sour soup is probably the best in town and I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Michele H.

Yelp
I love this place, order here a lot. Always delicious and quick. The owners are really nice (I'm guessing they're the owners since they're always there) and courteous. The food is always good, no complaints from me.
