Average atmosphere for Chinese take-our place. Not fancy and not horrible. Just plain. If I could have graded the food BELOW one star, I would have. I questioned the man at the register, about my order, before I left, to make sure I got the correct items I ordered. I ordered SPRING ROLLS (4 of them, price was $6.00 for 4). Expecting a nice crunchy exterior, with shredded cabbage, grated carrots and maybe some ground pork, I got a mouth full of mushy rice. And, the light, crisp exterior I expected, was thick and tough, like the dough had been worked too long. But, truthfully, the lack of crunchy vegetables was such a put-off. I took 2 bites of one egg roll, and am sitting here looking at 3 1/2 egg rolls going into the trash. I ordered Tung Ting Shrimp for my entree. It is described on the menu as shrimp with tiny corn cob, broccoli and straw mushrooms in a white wine, egg white sauce. When I opened my entree, I immediately noticed that it was covered in white "stuff" that looks like egg white slime that is not cooked thoroughly. I absolutely LOVE shrimp, but when it is covered in slime, it is instantly off-putting, and I cannot eat it. I raked the white stuff off one piece of shrimp, ate HALF of one piece, and could not stomach anymore. Also, there was literally 2-3 small corn cob in the entire order, regular mushrooms, cut into quarters (NOT straw, as in the description), and massive pieces of bell pepper, which is not mentioned in the description. If the bell peppers had been mentioned, I would have asked them to omit them, because I do not eat bell peppers. Finally, the crunchy noodles that they give you, with your soup? They are not even like they have been in the past, or at other Chinese restaurants. They were not thin and crunchy. They were thick and cut into triangles (like little Doritos) and were not fried like usual. They were tasteless, and obviously rolled out, shaped, cut, and baked not fried. Out of a $30.00 order, I ate 2 bites of mushy rice inside a sad spring roll, and 1 bite of slimy shrimp. I did, actually eat my fried rice, (which was firm rice, and not mushy like in the spring roll) and I drank my canned Coca-Cola. I have gone to China Moon for at least 10 years, but tonight will be the very last time I will visit them. I will spend my gas money and meal money and travel to Meteor Buffet in North Huntsville, or literally ANY OTHER CHINESE RESTAURANTA, before I set foot in China Moon, again. I was literally ripped off $25.00, of my $30.00 meal! I hope you can see the egg white "slime" on my meal. And, I took a photo of my "supposedly" thin, crunchy soup crackers.

Nice little buffet to eat and go. Food is good and atmosphere is nice.

Google
I have to be honest on this one, it wasn't a good experience. I try to refrain from leaving a review at all if it's not positive, but I feel I wouldn't be fair here if I didn't leave the honest feedback. It was dimly lit, which is fine...until you begin to question what you are eating or drinking and can't see it that well. One of the tea containers were empty, so I asked if the other one was sweet. The gentleman stated that it was sweet (it wasn't as I soon realized, I filled an entire cup of unsweet that I ended up pouring out). I then got a second drink, an orange soda from the fountain machine and I immediately realized the soda machine had flies in it (now in my drink, see photo). I did nicely show the gentleman as well as the woman, then poured out that drink as well. I ended up getting a can coke from the cooler. The chicken. Well, I ordered Sweet & Sour chicken...it wasn't horrible, but it was a bit different than the usual sweet & sour chicken you get at similar restaurants; huge pieces, kind've spongy, but again not bad so I'm neutral on the chicken. I hesitate to add that several of the pieces were coincidentally shaped like small, eh, "animals" which was only exaggerated by the fact that the experience had been a rough one thus far. Lastly, the fortune cookies. I do love to get the fortune cookies at this type of restaurant...I will usually eat the cookie & read the fun little messages. I would venture to say these particular cookies were significantly past their expiration date, I seriously about broke a tooth before having to spit it out, it was like biting into glass. Unfortunately, this visit was a bad one. I may give it another shot in the future (after some time has passed) because I try to be open minded that everyone has a bad day. Will update review if a future experience is better.

Google
Really quick service considering that we walked in and ordered. Less than 10 mins, our food was piping hot and smelled delicious. They even packaged it up nice for us with extra sauces. It was just as tasty as always when we got home. I did have trouble navigating their app for online ordering, so we ordered in person.

Google
My wife and I just found a razor blade in her food. It hurts me personally seeing as I've been eating here since I was 10. When we went there to confront the owner about it, he didn't even seem to care and just made excuses. This could've been one of my daughters' food.

Yelp
Best hot and sour soup in town! Good selection and friendly staff. Quick service and my order is always fresh and right.

Yelp
We stopped by China Moon to pick up freshly cooked Chinese food to go. This restaurant is a favorite of mine due to some of the foods being less sugary. In China, they do not use as much sugar as is used in the USA. The decor is 1990's style but the foods are very good. The wonton soup is always warm and tasty. Thick pillowy dumplings filled with ground pork are soothing as the broth is. We ordered the chicken Chow Mei Fun and vegetable Chow Mei Fun and stir fried broccoli and snow peas. All of our foods were cooked fresh and tasted great. I know when I go to China Moon they will cook my food fresh and get my order right. If you like Chinese food, I recommend the Chow Mei Fun, the wonton soup and the stir fried broccoli and snow peas.

Yelp
Nice little spot on the southern tip of Huntsville. The atmosphere was typical for a Chinese spot, there was a table for 4, and a larger table for 8-10 diners, surrounded by booths on two sides. The young man at the counter was pleasant but all business (I know this feeling, I've worked retail). They appear to have a buffet, but it's not set up at night. I ordered a staple for me, General Tso's Chicken. The meal was served with a choice of rice, I got the fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken was SLIGHTLY overcooked but had an excellent "kiss" of heat, the egg roll was crisp, just how I like them and the rice was delicious. If there was hot mustard or any condiment available for the egg roll, I missed it. The missing star from the rating is not for the food, it is for the new trend of "distancing" I am seeing at most Chinese restaurants. The restroom was clean, as was the rest of the place. This will be a normal haunt for me when I am looking for Chinese Food.

Yelp
Can't go wrong...Order whatever sounds good and you'll be very pleased. They are reasonably priced...

Yelp
I was slightly disappointed in this place. I figured I'd give it a try since it had decent ratings. I ordered the hot and spicy chicken combo. The one thing I did like is that you can have a choice of a side and it's not just an egg roll. I got the wonton soup and also a side of the dumplings. The chicken breading was way too soggy, I couldn't even finish it. The fried rice was ok. Sadly, I think this place is a one and done for me.

Yelp
We've been eating here for 4+ years ~ lots of take out as well. The take out is not only delicious, but packed very well, and with great care .... piping hot when I get it home (15-20 min. drive). Our favorites are Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken , Moo Goo Gai Pan, Kung Pao dish, Szechuan Beef, Lo-Mein dish, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce and several others. Have enjoyed so much off their menu, and honestly, we've never been disappointed. Have eaten off the buffet several times before pandemic, 2020. It was wonderful, hot and nice variety. Would usually meet up with friends there. But, have not tried the buffet since they started it up again. The staff is always busy preparing, cooking, handling diners and take out orders ... most always give a smile. We enjoy China Moon & as I indicated, we've not been disappointed. And, with it being a 15 min. drive each way ~ very much worth it! Oh, when they say , it's spicy indeed! I adore their Orange Beef, it's so good and a 'little kick' to it.

Yelp
China Moon is solid! I used to live within walking distance of CM and popped in regularly for my Chinese fix which was typically Moo Goo Gai Pan or Beef with Broccoli, and Hot and Sour soup or Wonton soup. Always hot, fresh, quick, really good, oh and inexpensive. Employees are always friendly, polite, and thorough. It is fairly small inside - narrow, with several 2-tops and 4-tops, and located in the strip mall behind Chick Fil A off Hobbs Road and South Memorial Parkway, on the same side as an ABC store, caddy-corner to Walmart. They've been in business at least 15 years, probably much longer. I don't frequent it much now since moving 30 miles away, but I do recommend this restaurant if you are in the neighborhood and (during COVID which they are open for takeout only) have a hankering for a quick, yummy takeout Chinese dinner.

Alyssa K.

Yelp
China moon is literally my favorite Chinese place in Huntsville. I always get the honey chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. They're always so kind and I love seeing that they actually put onion and vegetables in their fried rice! Their egg rolls are the best in town in my opinion and the price can't be beat for the quality!

Yelp
Good place for that last minute Chinese food hunger. We have eaten there several times since moving to the South end of Huntsville. The food is consistently good and prepared hot and fresh. I would recommend particular items, but we have tried so many and the list would be long. You can call ahead or use the Beyond Menu app like we do. The food is usually ready for pickup in 15 or so minutes. They have recently placed a sign that tells there is a lunch buffet. Haven't tried that yet but intend to

Richard K.

Yelp
This place stinks! Only place in the entire shopping area requiring masks! Place was empty and didn't get past the threshold before Hop Sing started screaming at us! No one in the entire business and we needed a mask to walk to a table and take it off after we sat down? I hope this business fails! It will be by owners choice! Then he'll be asking for government aide!

DW M.

Yelp
It's okay but incomparable to 88 buffet. The ambiance is kind of "side of the road" style. Really only good for takeout but seems expensive for the sloppy ambiance.

Jesse J.

Yelp
The Mongolian beef was delicious. egg rolls are bigger than usual. overall we were very satisfied.

Yelp
China Moon is a great place to go for your Chinese cravings. Whether you opt in for their take out or lunch buffet, you'll have a great meal regardless. They don't have the greatest number of selection for their buffet, but for the price and quality of the food, you are getting a steal. Whenever I'm in the mood for general tso's chicken, I order their takeout. It comes with a ton of food. The box comes with a lot of chicken and fried rice (made fresh to order!), an eggroll, soup with the wonton chips! Food is always piping hot and flavorful. Additionally, the owner and staff are wonderfully kind and appreciative of your business! I definitely recommend you try out this little hole in the wall if you're in the area!

Yelp
Dec 24, 2022, my wife and I have a yearly tradition of eating Chinese food on Christmas Eve. This food was very easily, by far, the worst food I have every tasted. I put it in my mouth and literally spit it out. I should have read the recent reviews. I took the food home to give it to my dogs. I tried the chicken again while ant home and spit it out again. I decided it wasn't even fit for my dogs. I have no clue how they stay in business

J M.

Yelp
This Chinese restaurant has almost everything to satisfy your cravings and more. The fact that their open is a plus these days. For my review of the food, it's too good to be in a strip mall, but hey I'll take it! I had the Moo Shu Pork entree and also got the Kung Pao chicken lunch combo with fried rice and an egg roll. For the price you really can't beat it. Give them a try for take out, you be hooked. They are a solid 4-4.5 stars.

Yelp
Best egg rolls in town. Food is above average strip mall Chinese fare. Prices are fair.
google avatar

Sam P.

Yelp
Ehhh the food used to be so good. Now, I don't really like anything I get there. The hot and sour soup seems tasteless or watered down. It's a real shame about China Moon going downhill.
google avatar

Christine N.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the mood for some quick Chinese takeout, I can always depend on China Moon to satisfy that craving. Their lunch special is $5.75 and comes with the entree, fried rice, and your choice of egg roll or soup. You will definitely be more than full with how much they give you! I always order General Tso's chicken, and the chicken is always hot and crunchy! If you're in the mood for no-fuss Chinese takeout that consistently delivers, then China Moon is the best in this part of town.

Yelp
With 45 check-ins here, I'm hooked. It's grown on me, from my first declaring I won't be back to it now being my favorite lunch spot. The masses flock to the 88-250+ mega Chinese buffets; this one, however, is small. The benefit is that dishes are made in small batches, with hot and fresh refills coming out of the kitchen every couple minutes. When you get it hot out of the kitchen, it'll be some of the very best you've had. Better food at a better price, too. All you can eat lunch buffet is only $5.49 Mon.-Fri. A dollar less on Saturday. That's a mighty fine deal! The hot and sour soup is the best in town, bar none. Loaded with fresh veggies and tofu, it's a must try! A few other comments as to why I love it here (yes, I'm eating here as I write this).... - There is no waiter to tip; you serve yourself and put your tray on a table in the back. Great for when money is tight. - Grab a free diner card at the counter. For every 9 buffets, next one is free. - For introverts or those who feel like being by themselves, this is the place for you. Many people fine by themselves, and nobody looks at anyone else or pays them any mind. Feel-good privacy. It's a tad dark and honey, nothing bright. -The owners are happy to cook for you and never rush you out. They keep a good eye on the buffet to ensure you have plenty of hat and fresh food. I've seen many first-timers walk and look like surprised at the atmosphere, but after they take that first bite, they smile... And return.

Yelp
The food is good, not great but good and does the job. The rice is about a 4 out of 10 but it does the job. Don't get the honey chicken, tastes like donuts. The staff that answer the phone are very rude. They want to get you off the phone as soon as possible. They will hang up before you are even done ordering. Overall, this place will soothe your Chinese cravings.
google avatar

Yelp
For such an unassuming little strip mall joint, this place is SO good. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are large. Additionally, any place with a good moo shoo will always have my heart.

Yelp
We ate here today and thought it was pretty good. My actual score would be 3.4 and we will try it again sometime. We were there right as the food was being brought out. One thing though is they don't have silverware only very very cheap plastic. When we go again we will be bringing our own fork. Really.

Mitchell H.

Yelp
They have great food and service. Currently they only have take out due to Covid but traditionally they have a lunch buffet that is really good.
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Probably the best fried rice in town. Most places no longer truly fry their rice. The lunch buffet is small but tastes good. Most of the food is your normal chinese/ american style. The service is good. I use the menu beyond app to order on my phone and it's always waiting on me when I arrive 12 minutes later.

Tony Y.

Yelp
Third time I've ordered takeout. First time was great. Second time, I'm pretty certain someone pulled my takeout order off of the small buffet inside. It tasted old and egg rolls had nothing but cabbage inside. I decided to never eat here again. However, I gave them one more chance tonight, and I am glad I did! They have stepped up their game big time. Tonight's takeout was some of the best I've had at any restaurant. I had it delivered, and it arrived so piping hot that I struggled to eat it. Everything was super fresh and intensely flavorful. The egg rolls were crisp and full of ingredients. The portions were large and saucy. Takeout doesn't get better than this! It blew away the competition (China Taste). Keep up the good work, and you will have a customer for life!

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer for over a decade. Was a great place to eat several years ago. Now I wouldn't eat there even if it was free. I just threw away my sixth order in a row because it was awful. I mean chicken cooked so hard it's absolutely inedible. It used to be every once in a while you would get something that was cold or overcooked but now it's everytime you eat there. I am DONE with China Moon.

Kaitlin N.

Yelp
China moon is the best Chinese food in Huntsville we go here at least once a week some times up to 3 times a week. Their egg rolls are amazing and so is everything else they serve. Our personal favorite is the schezwan chicken.
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
Normally we get takeout from them which is normally pretty good but we decided to get the buffet when we went in!i was expecting better than what we got!food tasted like it had been sitting there awhile

Daniel M.

Yelp
This is my go to place for Chinese food! The staff are very friendly and the food is well priced and delicious!

Yelp
Surprisingly bad food. I'm writing this in hopes that the owners will take steps to correct their shortcomings. I sent my husband out on a Sunday evening for takeout. Per my request, He ordered Hot & Sour soup, steamed dumplings, and General Tso's chicken. No rice because all they offer is white rice. I cooked some brown rice at home and waited. The food arrived hot, but tasted barely edible. Specifically the soup lacked the ingredients Hot & Sour soups are prepared with. No wood-ear mushrooms or straw mushrooms, and apparently no vinegar as it wasn't sour at all. The steamed dumplings were gummy and had a disappointing sauce. The General Tso's chicken was soggy, bready, and completely devoid of capsasin. It's like they forgot this menu item features chilies. The accompanying broccoli was cooked properly, but had an unappetizing yellow color. I've eaten these iconic menu items (perhaps hundreds of times) all over the USA, from Seattle to LA to Orlando as well as multiple points between, so I have some basis of comparison. The only bright spots: the items weren't overpriced and we didn't get sick. China Moon needs to select better quality produce, follow standard recipes (or inform customers that they serve different versions of iconic menu items), actually steam their dumplings and allow the steam to dissipate, and crisp up their breaded chicken if they want to stay in business.

Sara C.

Yelp
This place is so underrated. You get a lot of food for what you pay for. They also offer vegetarian options which I appreciate.

Rico C.

Yelp
China Moon is a cheap, run-of-the-mill, take-out restaurant. There is nothing exceptional about it but I've enjoyed every meal I've had there. Although dine-in is available the majority of the business is probably take-out (from what I've witnessed). They have several choices of standard Chinese-American dishes. Beef w/ Broccoli, Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken Fried Rice, etc. I'd recommend China Moon to anyone who wants a quick tasty dinner without too much hassle.

Yelp
ehhh not the tastiest take out chinese food... my husband and i went on a tuesday night about an hour before they were scheduled to close. we called in an order of crab wontons, eggdrop soup for 2, beef and broccoli with fried rice & eggroll, and sesame chicken with steamed rice. the crab wontons were really heavy. they tasted ok but the outer skin was really thick and there was very little crab & a ton of cream cheese. the eggdrop soup was terrible!!!! do not get it!!!! it had a very thick, weird consistency with lots of egg. it was veeeerrrryy bland. we ate one bite and the rest went down the kitchen sink.. :) beef and broccoli...it was ok. the broccoli was very stiff which made me wonder if it was done all the way.. were not big fans of raw or slightly cooked broccoli. the fried rice was bland. the eggroll on the other hand was delicious! sesame chicken was average. it was a little more breaded than id like.. it probably was the best tasting we ordered but its kinda hard to get that dish wrong. the only good things about this place: the service, price and eggrolls! the people were really nice and they were generous in their portion, its a shame the fokd was no good! we live in SE HSV and this is the closest chinese place to our house.. not sure if it was bc we went so late, doubtful.. needless to say, we will be making the trec to Ding How or Panda Express from now on. South Huntsville really needs a good , cheap take out chinese place!!!!!!!
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Suggest teriyaki chicken. Take out and ordering from the menu is suggested. Buffet is quick but not a huge selection with chicken on a stick being the highlight. I'm grateful to have Chinese food so close to me but I consider it the least appetizing in Huntsville which isn't bad as we have no bad Chinese food in Huntsville.
google avatar

Becki R.

Yelp
If you're looking for a reasonably priced good Chinese buffet on Sunday's this is the place; friendly staff and the food is pretty good for the $$
google avatar

Gary P.

Yelp
If you want the BEST Hot and sour soup this is the place to get it!! Trust me I've been to a ton of places here and this China Moon has the BEST!!!

Matt M.

Yelp
China Moon has great food and very good prices. My girlfriend and I have tried many items on the menu and have been very satisfied with all of them. We make it a point to go there at least once a week. If you are looking for some great Chinese food at a reasonable price, I highly recommend China Moon.
