"Maybe you’ve forgotten the joy of Chinese-American takeout, which is understandable since Miami lacks options. But ordering takeout from South Beach’s China Moon is a perfect way to reconnect with orange chicken on your couch. One of the chefs behind the tremendous vegan pop-up Isabel’s operates China Moon. But don’t expect many vegan options here. This tiny takeout-only spot is doing justice to the hits: krab rangoons, shrimp fried rice, and dozens of lunch and dinner combinations with beef, chicken, and pork. This is exactly the kind of restaurant you want to be within driving distance of when a Wednesday night craving for lo mein and a movie that’ll make you cry strikes. Food Rundown photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc Krab Rangoon Very worth ordering. The filling is generous, creamy, and you get eight of these little triangles. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc BBQ Spare Ribs The great ribs are so shiny with sauce, you could use one as a source of light in a cave. The exterior has a slight crisp from the glazed sauce, too. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc Spicy Chicken Wings They could be a bit spicier, but we were impressed by how crispy they stayed in transit. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc General Chengs Chicken These, on the other hand, got a bit soggy after the commute home. But the upside is that the chicken absorbed the sweet, tangy sauce in the process. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc Mapo Tofu We’ve had this twice. Once it was shockingly good. The other time, it was too heavy on oil. But the flavors were still satisfying both times, and the silken tofu lived up to its name. It’s not always on the menu, but if it appears, it’s worth ordering." - Ryan Pfeffer

Wonderful food. Got it delivered. The woman I spoke to on the phone about my delivery status was very kind. Easy hand off. The food! So delicious. Clsssic egg drop soup, beef friend rice was cooked just the way I personally like it. I like my friend rice to be darker and they cook it that way here, which I love! The crab rangoons were great. The sauce was different than what I normally get at Chinese food places, but it was so great! I’m not from the area, but i hope to come here again when I am in the Miami area!

Google
Not the China Moon we loved in South Beach! So disappointed now that they are “under new management”! GROSS! When did fried dumplings become empanadas? Where is the sauce on the broccoli with chicken? Why is a main meal shrimp dish served with popcorn shrimp? Wow! They will lose a ton of frequent customers for sure. Barely eatable. Don’t waste your money.

Google
This used to be my favorite neighborhood Chinese place. I was so excited to eat my hot and sour soup and fried rice, but unfortunately, they were both unrecognizable in look and taste. The soup looked like pure soy sauce- and it tasted like it also. The first photo is the soup with added water in it, because I tried to dilute it. So imagine it before. Absolutely inedible. The rice was just ok- edible compared to the soup, but I’m now done and feel like I just put way too much soy sauce in my system. My husband also didn’t like his chicken noodle soup. I called to complain and the woman who answered the phone then divulged that there is new management. This is a huge disappointment for us as China Moon used to have the best fried rice ever! Will miss this place so much. :(

Google
This is the first time I've found myself in such a strange situation! As usual in such cases, we made an order online, paid, and received an email confirmation. But when we went to get food, we found an abandoned place! The doors were closed, the lights were out, and there was no one there! Ridiculous! Usually, if a place is closed, there is a time limit for online orders - it says that this time is unavailable and that the opening time is then. But not here! I wrote a response to the email, through which I received a confirmation and asked what's going on. But two weeks have passed, and I still haven't received a response. Is that even possible?? You get money and that's it?! We contacted the bank to make a chargeback. Scam, do not recommend!

Google
House lo mein with chicken broccoli egg roll ragoons and egg drop soup It’s a big no for me, ragoons taste fishy not sweet at all. The chicken broccoli is horrible bland taste gooey you can taste the animal , lo mien is dry and bland egg roll taste plastic egg drop soup taste like you’re eating yolk no season in any of the foods and the hot oil just oil. Nothing hot about it. Never again!

Google
This used to be my favorite place, since the management or owner changed the food is bad, is going down the food is not the same as it used to be,,,, I bought 4 different dishes, I'm very disappointed, !! It's Ashamed Sesame chicken. Taste like burnt garlic, rice tatesless.

Jordan Gittleman

Google
Killer food. Had a craving for dumplings and these were great value for the price. Talked to the owner when I was picking up and seemed like a cool guy, they are apparently doing a popup on Sundays with a new menu too.

Google
I was so excited to eat here. I’ve lived on the beach on an offer for 15 years and used to eat here very long ago. I ordered this for myself, husband and daughter. While the food was OK, the interior waiting area and ordering area has a lot left to be desired and looks kind of grimy and dirty. I love an hole in the wall, and was hoping this had become such. Onto the food, the flavors were fine, I ordered the entire menu of their special Sunday dinner. Unfortunately we all got minor food poisoning within 12 hours and were sick for two days, never again, so bummed!

Gabriela E.

Yelp
House lo mein with chicken broccoli egg roll ragoons and egg drop soup It's a big no for me, ragoons taste fishy not sweet at all. The chicken broccoli is horrible bland taste gooey and like you're literally biting a chicken lo mein is dry and bland egg roll taste plastic egg drop soup taste like you're eating yolk no season in any of the foods and the hot oil just oil. Nothing hot about it.

Yelp
I would not let my dog eat the garbage being dished out at China Moon. Old dry chicken, salty soup! This place has lost its charm and the new owner can't cook. The service is horrible. BETTER CHINESE FOOD AT TRADER JOES.

Aleisha M.

Yelp
China moon is disgusting!!!! Their food is old and dry. The service is terrible, their rude and unprofessional. Please do not waste your money on this restaurant I'm warning you now. The quality of the food is terrible, you can tell it's been sitting for days. The rice I ordered was stale and hard. They tried to drench my fried rice in soy sauce to revive the food and it's just disgusting!!!! The chicken wing meat was tough as beef jerky. It's absolutely disgusting and not worth a penny!!!!!!

Joseph N.

Yelp
Food and service , need to improve a lot because I will never buy again from this place, the low mein tasted bad , it left a bad taste in my mouth and the wings were not the same as before , plus now they want to give you only 6 wings instead of 8 for 12.99$ I don't mind paying but at least make make them good bro

Debra M.

Yelp
I have been ordering from China Moon for a very long time. The food is always great, large portions. Delivery time very fast. I understand they were just bought by someone else. I am sorry to say, I will be looking for a new place to order. The portions are much smaller, no flavor. I ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken combo special, the Wonton soup had 1 1/2 wontons, the meat filling tasted awful. The chicken was not done properly. The Pork fried rice had maybe 4 pieces of pork and no vegetables or scallions, it tasted horrible. I am sorry to say that this is a big disappointment!! I should have taken pictures.

Yelp
It's official there are no good Chinese take out in south beach anymore. It looks like this place is under new management and the authentic taste of Chinese cooks is gone. Orange chicken was the blandest I've had. After Yeungs closed this was my go to spot. We went last week saw a whole team of new non Asian employees Which is fine if you keep the recipes the same but no. Back to making homemade Chinese So frustrating that we cannot have decent Chinese take out in such a current city

Felix V.

Yelp
Run don't walk the confusion is incredibleib this place . Ordered a family meal with a few extra items . Had to go back twice to complete order. Food wasn't worth first trip

Alexei G.

Yelp
this restaurant is no longer open - door dash and others are still allowing take out orders for delivery to this ghost of a restaurant

Lewis C.

Yelp
I love how they changed the place, the food is fresher and tastier. Lynn is the best service I've had. I appreciate her so much. I tell everyone about this place and everyone in my building is talking about this place since they changed management. Thanks you guys.

Hab B.

Yelp
This was our go-to place for over 15 years for Chinese delivery. Recently, the menu changed and so did the quality. Lumpy rice, overcooked noodles and a significant decline in flavor. It's almost as if this a different place with same name. Too bad...this was such a good neighborhood spot.

Kristina Z.

Yelp
Great Chinese food in Miami Beach! Portion are big and always taste amazing. I always get the pad Thai and orange chicken.

Ahliah F.

Yelp
Great food. Fresh hot portions made quick. The staff is efficient. Family owned restaurant.

South B.

Yelp
Miss your egg foo yung !!!! It is the best in Miami !!!! Please put it back on your menu PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

May O.

Yelp
Great little local spot, food is consistent and inexpensive. It's not the best Chinese you'll ever have- but if you're craving take out this will do the trick.

Alyson R.

Yelp
Delicious for Beach Chinese food. Would totally order again. Easy pick. Parking available although its small. Moo shoo chicken - . sweet & sour chicken . Yum

Bob S.

Yelp
It's getting harder & harder to find good old-style Cantonese or any style traditional Chinese eateries these days. After the great Sum Yum Gai closed in the area I walked all around craving some authentic Chinese and somebody pointed me here. Well, the prices were right and the food hit the spot. It's a lil hole in the wall with one or two tables inside and one outside but that was all I needed. They mostly do take-out. So, if you are in a jam and can't find any real Chinese food around (not corporate fast-food crap), check out this place. I don't know if it is what Covid did to the world or the threat the Communist Chinese Party are posing worldwide as crooked politicians, around the globe, allow themselves to be bought, but it just seems all the good Chinese restaurants in the States are disappearing. This is a shame and I hope people are not boycotting these places. The people are great and we can't lay blame on them for having once been victims of the Communist thugs. Support your local traditional Chinese restaurants because they are becoming extinct.

Yuhan Z.

Yelp
best experience in Miami ever. Food is great. The lady is very nice. The place is quiet and cozy.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
On South Beach the options for Chinese takeaway are few and far between, so, occasionally, when the urge strikes, we order from China Moon. It's a serviceable chinese restaurant with little to either recommend or detract from their offerings. It's not great by any means but it's also not truly terrible which is about as great praise I can give them Miami Beach being a place with truly limited options as far as local Chinese food delivery goes. Far better to my New Yorkers palate is Fortune Cookie on 6th street which is also lackluster in their offerings but somehow closer to the greasy 3rd rate Chinese takeaway joints of my youth.

Petrina R.

Yelp
My family and I were in Miami one day early for a cruise. I wanted to make sure they had a filling dinner so I picked China Moon solely based on the help of my fellow yelpers - thank you! We ordered shrimp fried rice, chicken, chicken and broccoli, cheese wontons and a small order of white rice. The food took 20 mins to prepare and the service was extremely friendly. It's a family owned business which I like even more. The food was really good, but my only complaint was there was too much soy sauce in the shrimp fried rice, which made it way too salty for my mom. She ate the white rice instead and said everything else tasted good. My kids have it a thumbs up and I enjoyed it as well. I wasn't sorry I ordered there it wasn't a 5 star meal but 3 starts due to the sodium.

John P.

Yelp
China Moon is by far the best Chinese place in south beach! I've tried just about everything on the menu. Go with delivery because the actual venue is really small and can only fit a few people which is why I won't give it a five star review. The food always is delivered fast, hot, fresh, and delicious. In the past two years I've ordered delivery I can't think of a single bad experience. I recommend the orange chicken, house special fried rice, any of the soups, and the beef sticks as an appetizer. Give them a try and I promise you won't be disappointed. Remember to order delivery or take out.

Shana S.

Yelp
It's hit or miss. Sometimes it's great but sometimes it's a little off. The delivery is usually fast and arrives hot. It's a little better then average and perfect for a cozy night at home

Craig M.

Yelp
Overpriced for mediocre chinese food. Quality is uneven. Plus the place needs a deep cleaning. I hooe the kitchen is cleaner than the front.

Gia M.

Yelp
Living on the beach this place is so essential, amazing Chinese food it's never bad! The beef and broccoli and sour chicken always cooked to perfection. Look no further for your go to Chinese spot

Jacob M.

Yelp
The food is good here and it's for a good price. Can't really lose at China Moon.. works for me everytime

Paul F.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service and generous portions. A good value considering the neighborhood, but all of the items we ordered were overcooked salty but otherwise lacked flavor.

Lorraine M.

Yelp
I love the food from China Moon it's always hot and fresh. The lady at the front is always pleasant Great place for Chinese food.

Sofia B.

Yelp

Jeanne B.

Yelp
I love China Moon! They take hygiene and COVID measurements very seriously. And their flavors are awesome! I always end up taking the wonderful egg fried rice and a chicken dish. The black bean sauce comes highly recommended. They are quick and the temperature of the food is excellent. It usually takes me 15 minutes to get home and everything is still very hot. Love China Moon

Alba R.

Yelp
These place is fantastic!! Good food in a perfect price, no long waiting for food! I love it! When you are bussy working with short time for lunch, these is the right place to come. Also friendly and i think they have delivery service too but i just walk there, make it easier I recommend the special fried rice is fantastic!!

Higinio C.

Yelp
Excellent food great price I loved the place strongly recommend to try, Big variety very fast and fresh

M P.

Yelp
What happened? We're snowbirds & have not ordered since May, when it was very good. Are there new owners this year? Is it under new management? We were so disappointed. All rice little meat. Downsized the shrimps. All sauce no protein. Used to be good quality, plentiful portions, very reasonable prices. Went downhill. Price not worth it.

Sonny D.

Yelp
Disappointed overall and doubtful we'll come back. So I gave three stars one for the pork fried rice, the egg rolls and egg drop soup as the three were very good. So here's the lowdown on both our orders. Orange chicken was extremely salty to the point I could only eat three pieces and it was served with absolutely NO broccoli as mentioned and shown on the menu. I'll let you decide, did they just forget or was this poor service? As for the General chicken, it was a strange texture of meat so we ate none of it (something just wasn't right here). Again, I'll let you decide, chicken or not? Now we've had plenty of Chinese food (especially these two dishes) from the Midwest, to the West Coast, to the East Coast and China Moon is without a doubt the worst Chinese food we've had. Now I know there are several reviews that rave about this place and perhaps we just picked a bad Tuesday evening but none the less OUR experience here wasn't good. We sat outside to eat and nobody bothered to check on us to see if everything was ok. Maybe I was just expecting a bit much here. So, if this is a "take out" or "delivery" only establishment then why are there tables & chairs? We were looking forward to some really good Chinese food and China Moon didn't "deliver"! If you decide to give them a try I hope you have a better experience than we did.

Terry c.

Yelp
Excellent and very clean chinese.....very small so a hidden gem.....you will be very surprised as was i.

Angie A.

Yelp
Great fried rice always and their sweet and sour chicken is good as well. Everytime I call to either order for delivery or pickup they are very prompt. Good to have a little Chinese food night spot!

Julie C.

Yelp
I went last week the food was fast and tasty if your in the beach I order the chicken fried rice and egg rolls

Jana W.

Yelp
Of all of the food that I've missed or craved during this time when I've been cooking more than ever in my life, China Moon tops my list. My family has been ordering from here for years and it's always so good and they are so very nice. Our favorites are the hot and sour soup (we tweak it to omit pork and mushrooms) and the curry rice noodles (so delicious!) Definitely recommend and want to support them now. Can't wait to eat this yummy food again soon.

Alisha K.

Yelp
Okay, let's all just set aside our over unrealistic ideals of how a take out Chinese place should be for a second. China moon delivers (and not just by scooter). The food is hot, flavorful, edible and consistent. Is this not enough for you? Then maybe you should fly to China and get yourself a meal there. For what it is- where it is, China moon is great. Inside is super small, but I'm not here for a long time- I'm just here for a good time...oh and decent "Chinese" food. This is review is starting to sound as pretentious as the foodies that come here and expect PF Chang's...so I'll end it. Get yourself the Singapore noodles.

Stephen N.

Yelp
If you want extremely basic Chinese food this is the go to spot. Order here all the time. I usually get the honey garlic chicken or the sesame chicken lunch or dinner specials because it comes with fried rice, soup and an egg roll for like under 10 bucks. Can't beat that. The crab rangoons are good as well. Things I've tried here and was not a fan of was the General Tso's chicken and Mongolian beef. Would not recommend those at all. But like I said if you want simple traditional American Chinese food this is for sure a go to spot.

Mary B.

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for almost 20 years. And because they were busy they refused to deliver. I am very disappointed that my loyal patronage is re- paid in this manner.

Stefanie P.

Yelp
So the first time I ate here I dined in with my wife. Love it! Small spot only 3 tables. We had the house fried rice which was to die for. I haven't had rice like that since I moved from Boston! Also had the curry chicken with noodles! Yum! So this time around I ordered delivery. And I must say I'm quite disappointed! I figured since I tried the curry with noodles let's try it with white rice. Bad choice I only got 6-7 medium size (13$)shrimp in the picture down below that is filled with onions and green peppers. But the flavor tasted watered down. Also got my wife's favorite again which is the house fried rice and it was not made with love this time around. Nothing fried about it! Anyways 33$ with tip and taxes. For a side of crab Rangoon's. Med size house fried rice and curry with too many veggies in my eyes. So needless to say I will give it another try, not ready to give up yet :)

Augusto B.

Yelp
Delivery always on time , I been ordering at the place for years and for the past 2 years it's gotten better and better , quality it's on point , flavors wise . New guy on the phone always very attentive , good work ! Best egg rolls ever .

Gloria S.

Yelp
From ok to worse. Messed up order, gave us veggies we ask NOT to include, but would not fix it until I insisted, 3 telephone calls and 2 hrs later. Someone spilled the soy sauce bottle on all our orders. AND I like soy sauce but this was ridiculous. Oh, there is plenty of MSG too. Pan fried noodles are not pan fried, more like soupy lo mien. They fill all the orders with as many onions as possible, there must have been a sale at the market. Hire someone who can speak English and it will benefit your biz, really, believe it or not! Duh. No more, never again, peanut butter and jelly never looked so good.

Mia C.

Yelp
Mixed soup has egg drop, dumpling wontons, pork & green onions r a nice touch. Egg rolls are always fresh & have plenty of meat. Pepper steak is very good. Mixed fried rice is also very good. The sweet & sour shrimp were good but they were small & the portion was light. Add a few more shrimp & it would be great. I have ordered from them several times over the past 2 weeks. So obviously the food is good. They are an affordable option...hope they stick around.

Southern Revival M.

Yelp
The food was fast and it was a no contact pick up. We enjoyed the crab Rangoon and sesame tofu. The chicken noodle soup was good too.

Bella K.

Yelp
This place is my go-to spot for chinese food in South Beach. This place you will get the bang for bucks, no doubt is hole-in-the-wall joint but the lady owner there is super friendly. My favorite is the Shrimp with Broccoli, they use fresh large shrimp (not those wimpy ones you find elsewhere) and their sauce is savory while isn't filled with MSG that leaves you thirst for water for an hour. Oh yea, the pan friend pork dumpling, I can eat about 20 of those :)

Rachel L.

Yelp
This is the best food around town. I older lunch from here at least once a week. They are fast and have great lunch specials and the delivery isn't expensive like Uber eats and Postmates.

Liza L.

Yelp
Good food but delivery doesn't care for instructions. Twice they never gave plasticwares and forgot our coke in cans

Mark Z.

Yelp
China Moon used to be one of the best Chinese Food restaurants in Miami Beach. But, I'm not sure why it has gotten so bad. The food quality is just not good. It lacks flavor, and doesn't seem to be cooked properly. For example, their chicken Lo Mein always had that well cooked, wok flavor and texture. Now, they look and taste like boiled noodles. Maybe today was just an off day for them, but I've been ordering there for ten years, and they used to be amazing.

Frederick M.

Yelp
Quite fast place to order. I've ordered here for many years and always been satisfied with the goodness in the food & friendly people.
