I had a wonderful time at this restaurant! I chose the orange chicken, while my brother and boyfriend both got sesame chicken, and my parents ordered the lo mein. We also shared some crab rangoons, and the owner generously provided us with an extra one since there were five of us. He even gave us additional sliced oranges, which was such a nice gesture it really made us feel welcomed. The food was incredible—full of flavor, fresh, and served in big portions (we even took some home!). What really impressed me was the homemade mustard; it had just the right kick without being overpowering, adding a fantastic layer of taste. The service was fantastic. The owner checked in on us just the right amount—attentive but not overbearing. You could see his genuine joy for his work, and his friendly attitude made our lunch experience very fun. The restaurant was spotless, and the menu offered a great variety without being too overwhelming. The lunch specials are a fantastic price, and the free refills were a lovely perk. All in all, I had a great experience, and I’ll definitely be returning and recommending this place to others! (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

Google
I was looking for some St. Louis Mo. style fried rice the dark brown instead of the light rice they usually serve in Texas and I can stay this place gave me EVERYTHING I was looking for and it tasted amazing that’s why I give this place 5 stars, I did have to request for it to be fried dark brown and I did pay a little extra

Patrick Connell

Google
General Tsos Chicken is 5 stars. Exactly what i was looking for and it was hot and fresh. Review is 4 stars only because the Chicken on a stick (pho pho?) Was very very dry. Overall food was good and service was great, lady at the counter was very nice. Crab Rangoon was a bit sweeter than most places but still hot, fresh, and delicious.

Google
Thank u! I gave a three or four for service because there was one time where I called and asked for delivery and gave you my address very clearly and you guys said you couldn’t find my address when I’m literally down the street and I did not appreciate that But other than that it’s a 5! And the fact that you guys came in the SNOW today I so appreciate that . I’m not feeling well and I really did not wanna shovel snow from the driveway . Also, y’all hot and sour soup is the best I’ve ever had around the US. And these vegetables are so good!!!

Abolore Ajimotokan

Google
The Singapore Noodle was okay, but their fried rice is bland, no mixed vegetables or spices.

Google
The food was terrible. Dallas just doesn’t have good Chinese. Firstly the general tso chicken was breaded and hard. Gross. The fried rice was just abhorrent. It was hard old rice mixed with peas and carrots and it wasn’t fried nor did it have an ounce of flavor. I really want my money back. Don’t go here. The Lo mein was decent until you taste the soggy shrimp. It was almost slimy.

Google
I ordered some cream cheese wontons and they had a stale taste. They turned out to be re-fried wontons. All of them were like that. Smh. Not cool. I won’t be ordering from here again if they recook and resale their food.

Google
I think this place works if you want some classic Chinese food. They delivered super fast (in about 20mins) which I was very surprised by. I got the seafood soup, their shrimp Lo Mein and their iconic and heavenly sugar biscuits. I'd say that the Lo Mein was fine, could use some fresh/raw ingredients like bean sprouts or cilantro, sugar biscuits good as always, but I don't think you should get the seafood soup because it's mostly vegetables with a spot of shrimp here and there and what I believe to be fake crab, which I feel very disappointed by, but I did wonder why it was so cheap. Their shrimp is really good though, so that's a plus. Otherwise, if you're in the mood for some good, classic Asian food, go on ahead and give this place a try and if you do, you have to try their sugar biscuits, I'm sure anyone could love them! ☺️🐼🥡

Yelp
Ordered take out at China Pot and was very pleased with the quality and quantity of food for the price! There is minimal seating indoors as this is primarily intended for takeout.

Bob L.

Yelp
I ordered pepper steak w/fried rice. NOT like any pepper steak I have ever had. NOT sure what the meat was but it was not steak.

Yelp
We tried some take-out from China Pot on a Tuesday because our go-to Chinese place (Imperial Garden) is now closed Tuesdays. We weren't impressed. The combination fried rice and combination lo mein didn't have much stuff...chicken, beef, shrimp. The fried (yellow) rice was undercooked and devoid of seasoning. The lo mein noodles were over cooked and mushy. The egg rolls had a weird cinnamon-like taste to them, and the crab rangoons were stale with a filling that was way too sweet. We won't be back, even when we're desperate for Chinese on a Tuesday.
google avatar

Yelp
Chicken was decent the first time I ordered. Do not order anything with beef. It's so fatty and chewy, absolutely inedible. The rice I had with the beef at lunch was all old. I don't recommend lunch there no matter what you get.

Yelp
Quick, easy and good tasting Chinese food. I had the garlic chicken and my wife had the moo goo gai pan. The serving size was very generous. I called and ordered it as take out and the food was timely, hot and fresh. The dining room is not a selling point. I would likely stick to take out. Very affordable and good. I was closer to 3.5 stars but rounded down not feeling this was worthy of a four. Definitely close.

Yelp
Walked in and was welcomed by the cashier she was very friendly and helpful. There is a great variety of food and new things to try if you are in the area and want some good Chinese food I would definitely recommend, I will be coming back

Yelp
This was a quick meal on our first day in town. They had it ready quick ( less than 10 minutes) and that was nice. The sesame chicken was good and the bbq pork fried rice was good too. The wanton soup was not so great, which was a shame because the wantons themselves were good. That's the thing here, they were nice, prompt and the food was okay... But that's it, it was just okay, not great, not bad, just okay. If you're in a hurry this place will suffice, but if you have time, there is probably better to be had.

Yelp
Driving my bus route, I saw this place on the side. I stopped by after work. I must say EVERYTHING that I ordered & ate, was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! My family enjoyed every bit of it. You have a new customer moving forward. I am SO GLAD I stopped. Reminds me of Chinese food from back home in Chicago. THANKS FOR AN AWESOME AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Yelp
Gross. The egg rolls have a strange sweet flavor in the wrapper. The beef was gray colored, smelled foul, and tasted old?? Very unpleasant all around. Even something as simple as vegetable fried rice was bland and the rice wasn't cooked fully. We ended up getting food from somewhere else and will absolutely not be back.
google avatar

Keith G.

Yelp
I really like this place. My favorite is the spicy chicken dish. Lots of chicken and onions. The egg rolls are really good.
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
Best Chinese food I have ever had. Ever is awesome! Favorites are kung pao chicken or shrimp, fried rice, broccoli beef, hunan chicken or shrimp, shrimp egg foo young. Their egg rolls are addicting. Cheese wontons and steamed dumplings are also great. Sweet sugar biscuits are good. Very nice lady at the counter. Food is prepared so fast.
google avatar

Yelp
I rarely give a poor review but there is no excuse for the condition of the food from China Pot today. If I could give them less then 1 star I would. I ordered dim sum for take out. The fried wontons were so over cook I was afraid I'd break a tooth. Through away half the order. The fried jumbo shrimp were burned and looked like road kill. Didn't even taste like shrimp and also through away half the order. The steamed dumplings were under cooked. The only saving grace was the egg rolls but I think they probably get those precooked from the supplier. The one staff member I dealt with was unfriendly and short. By the way I was the only customer in the restaurant. This was the first and last time they'll see me there.

Yelp
Combination Fried rice was Great, and The fried dumpling were good as well, service was Great as well she was really nice too.

Yelp
I told them I didn't receive my full order, they dismissed me complaint and said call the food delivery service and just hung up, no sorry or anything

Yelp
Best Chinese takeout in the area. They temporarily shut down due to COVID-19 for about 2 months but just opened back up and have made a lot of safe customizations to ensure that everyone's health is their 1st priority. After ordering from this place for a long time the owners begin to remember you which is a really nice touch. The food is always fresh. We picked up our food after 15 minutes and by the time we got home it was still steaming. I've never once had cold food or frozen food from here--something I've experienced at almost every other Chinese takeout place in Mckinney. The portions are massive and the cost for 4 dishes, egg rolls and a drink came out to less than $40. I've attached some pictures below of what I got: sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken, broccoli with shrimp, and crispy beef.

Yelp
Our regular Chinese place is closed for renovations. Did a quick search for the area I was in, and this place popped up with mixed reviews. All I was getting was Singapore noodles (Spicy) for my Dad, and didn't think a place could mess it up. Apparently they can. When I walked in to pick up the order, the place smelled of old overused grease and was a little unkempt. Picked up my order and left. On the drive home, my car did not fill with the aroma of Singapore noodles. The noodles were tasteless, and absolutely no spice. There was barely any meat. My dad can usually make three meals out of this dish, but it didn't even feed him 1 because we were forced to throw it away. Sorry, I don't recommend this place at all.

Yelp
Yum yum YUM!!! First time ordering and will not be the last. Tasty, freshly prepared and delicious. Many items on the menu to satisfy everyone. I am already recommending!

Brian W.

Yelp
Great food with good sized portions although they did downsize their egg rolls. The quality of the food is 4 star. We'll be back there.

Yelp
Amazing! My fav place by far!! It's got amazing sweet and sour chicken and crispy noodles.

Yelp
One thing to say about this place is food poisoning, everything was horrible 55$ for garbage.

Yelp
Minus one star for divey/strip mall ambience, but if you're getting take-out, or have a great conversationalist (or a good book) with you, this place is GREAT! Husband got his standard sweet and sour chicken and proclaimed it "first rate". Plentiful container of sweet red sauce provided too which made him very happy. I had chicken fried chicken and the usually dry white meat chicken was TENDER and MOIST!! Amazing!! A mile from the house and this good?! We'll be back weekly!! Latest review 5/31/18 - got the honey chicken. Probably the same base battered dark meat chicken as the sesame and general tso's, but the sauce is just lightly sweet but not spicey or remarkably floral. I wish I could say it was enjoyable but so many pieces were unable to be chewed up enough to swallow; very stringy, heavily battered pieces. Large portion (enough for two) so I'm doubly disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy it again for lunch tomorrow.

Y'all H.

Yelp
First time trying this place. Food was ok, I was looking for a specific dish and they had it. Had a lil too much chili pepper in it but was still edible. They forgot my egg roll too. Overall: could've been better but will give them a second chance.

Sharon B.

Yelp
Food was very mediocre and kind of bland. It's pretty much low quality Chinese food where you don't really know what you're eating. It's cheap so it's a cost effective option for food.
google avatar

Leonard S.

Yelp
Run of the mill Chinese restaurant. It's not bad and it's not good either . Run down ! Kitchen dirty! Cashier women was nice and pretty and therefore 3 stars
google avatar

Glenda M.

Yelp
Ordered take out. They were here fast, the food was hot and we felt like they fed us as if we were family. Every dish was spot on and delicious: Egg Drop Soup, Hot & Sour Soup, Steamed Dumplings, Mongolian Beef, Lo Mien, and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Love this place!
google avatar

Kenneth J.

Yelp
Loved my meal from China Pot! There's so many options. Beautiful portions for the price and if you spend more than $20 you get free sugar donuts. These donuts were amazing freshly made. Y'all should support this local business!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Ordered delivery so I have no information or opinion on the interior or the staff so my review is based solely off of the taste and appearance of the food. I ordered egg drop soup and wantons. Appearance wise nothing out of the ordinary, average and expected which would make it about a 3 or 4. Taste wise both were very disappointing. Soup tasted watered down and had little to no flavor, and the wantons were very oily and tasted like they had been cooked earlier and reheated. Overall not a meal I would like to repeat.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the BEST Chinese food in McKinney, hands down. I've moved out of town months ago, and have yet to find a Chinese place as tasty as China Pot. I miss their orange chicken like nobody's business!
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
I was not impressed. The cheese wontons had too much dough/under cooked. The broccoli beef had a lot of fatty & chewy pieces as did the sweet & sour pork. The cashew shrimp was just meh in flavor. Overall, it will fill the hole, but isn't anything to write home about.

Travis L.

Yelp
Not once but twice twice I've found foreign objects in my food!! 1st time it was wire from a cleaning brush that stuck in my gums. Today my daughter finds a FINGER NAIL in her rice. I normally don't complain but this is the line !!! This is ridiculous!
google avatar

Sun F.

Yelp
The food was okay not impressive. The table was sticky. They need to clean the place! Dine-in but self serve.

Britt B.

Yelp
Always delicious. Ordered the Phoenix and dragon with orange chicken. Rangoons and veggie egg rolls

Yelp
This was my first time trying out China Pot and will be my last. I thought to try them out since they advertise "New York Style." I'm not sure which burrough or city in New York they represent, but it's not any area I'm familiar with. I ordered Vegetable Fried Rice and Shrimp w/Broccoli. The Vegetable Fried Rice wasn't done. The rice was still crunchy, not seasoned and the vegetables weren't cooked all the way. The Shrimp with Broccoli was okay, but once again, the fried rice - it tasted like steamed rice...no seasoning or different flavor at all. Just "water." Very bland. I called the restaurant and let them know about my grievances and that I wouldn't be able to bring the food back until Monday because I don't have a way to get there. They said there's nothing that they can do, unless I brought it back tonight and then suggested to just put the rice back in some water and boil it longer...really??? Then it would taste more like nothing. No thanks. Total waste of money and time for me and my son's dinner and this was supposed to be a special end of week treat. So much for that. :(. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
This was probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The Teriyaki chicken was so dry it was inedible. The House special Pad Thai had nothing special about it it was absolutely tasteless. Threw it all out. Only good part were the sugar doughnuts.
google avatar

Melva S.

Yelp
The chicken in my order was tough. My shrimp and noodles were good. My egg roll was delicious too.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
China Pot is a small hole in the wall location built primarily for take out and delivery. I've had fantastic experiences with them for both, so I thought I'd try the dine in. They only had two (2) booths and we snagged one right by the cash register. The staff was SUPER friendly and I could see through to the kitchen and watched them make our food fresh. It all came out steaming hot and delicious. I personally hate tofu but my boyfriend ordered the General Tso's Tofu and no joke it was amazing! We both ate a ton as we were starving and each had another meal left over because the portions are generous. We had a great experience and would recommend to all!
google avatar

Diana W.

Yelp
Since there is no other good Chinese restaurants nearby, I settle for this, but it's not the best, but it's doable.

Yelp
I've lived in McKinney for 5 years and have been looking for a good Chinese delivery place since I moved here. I think I've finally found my place and it's China Pot. So far everything I've ordered I've enjoyed. I have no complaints at all; delivery is decently fast, food is very good, the people are friendly. So far I've ordered: -steamed dumplings; they came with a great sauce, but next time I'll ask for extra -A4. crab Rangoon; very crispy and good size -O1. hot and sour soup; broth was amazing, ingredients could be better, but no complaints for price. -B4. Hunan beef (I asked for extra spicy, and it was definitely extra spicy ) -B9. Mongolian beef; you have to like onions to eat this one, it's about 50% onions -Cs5. General tso's chicken; soooooo good and sweet. , but soooo good. -Cs9. Walnut Shrimp: MMMMMM, if you've ever had this before, you know it can be hard to find a place that can make it good. Well, this place knows how to make it. Plenty of sauce, good consistency, crisp breading, good broccoli, sweet walnuts. Will definitely order again. -C11. Hot and Spicy chicken: very spice. Good if you like lots of peppers (bell, jalapeño) and onions. Not a huge fan of this one but it was good, I'm just not into bell peppers. -B15. Garlic Beef: this had the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Came with a good portion of meat and good veggies. -Cs10. Crispy Beef: THIS IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE BEEF DISH THEY MAKE. Sweet, spicy, crispy, hearty. Just a crispy beef with some broccoli. So it's mainly meat!!!! Overall I'm happy with this place. I plan on ordering about 3-4 times per month and always trying a different fish. I usually order two dishes each time, and definitely crab rangoons with all my orders. Every time I order something new, I will edit this post. UPDATE (6/30/15) Every time I order form this place, I am more and more impressed and pleased with the dishes I order. Sometimes I just ask what they recommend. Slowly but surely I'll eventually try everything.

Mike D.

Yelp
It's our 'go to' Chinese spot in McKinney for takeout! Flavorful and large portions! Have never had a bad meal. Not a place to dine in.
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
Good food and great portions for the price. We ordered a few things: - Sweet and sour chicken. Delicious and the sauce was perfect. We loved that this was the dipping kind, since some places smother the chicken in the sauce beforehand (not a fan). - Orange chicken. Pretty good but not made with the best meat. There were quite a few weird/chewy bits so I'll most likely skip ordering it again, but in terms of flavor, it was great and the orange zest was a nice touch. - Fried rice. Zero complaints. Good stuff. - Veggie lo mein. Not quite flavorful but still good nonetheless. When we ordered this, we made the mistake of getting the veggie chow mein which was just cooked cabbage apparently. We got a call from them asking if we meant to order the cabbage or were looking for the veggies with noodles. We definitely meant the latter so we appreciated that they confirmed our order with us. The mix up must happen quite frequently. I can't comment on their delivery service since we did a pickup but make sure if you want sauces or fortune cookies to grab them at the counter since they didn't provide it in the bag already. Other than the so-so orange chicken, China Pot has some great food and I'll definitely consider ordering from here again.
google avatar

Yale K.

Yelp
We drop by while on a road trip. It's very accessible to the highway. We grabbed some beef broccoli and Kung pao chicken. Everything was made to order so it came out hot and fresh. My boys loved broccoli beef. If we drive through again we will definitely look at this place.
google avatar

Ron G.

Yelp
Ate here on New Year. Food and soup we're fresh and tasty. Food made it a 5 stars. We dined in and the place is definitely set up for carry out. This meant plastic forks and spoons and paper plates which was odd, but we treated as if we were on picnic and we just had fun.
google avatar

Los D.

Yelp
Are hear for lunch during the week. Good price and decent food. Very small seating area as it appears everyone is picking up orders. Good prices and very friendly staff. Will be back for sure.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
I read the reviews and thought this would be delicious. I was WRONG! I ordered the O 6 wonton soup mixed with egg drop soup. The soup has a gelatinous goo quality. Bland, NO flavor at all. It tastes more like oil soup with egg in it. The wontons in it taste like the pork has gone bad. It was inedible. I also ordered the Cs8 Lemon Chicken and received an overly well done pan fried piece of breast meat. It's chewy like shoe leather and once again no flavor. It was served in a bed of ice berg lettuce. I'm not sure how one could consider this an entree. My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken that was good. Chicken was moist and tender. My son and daughter ordered the orange chicken. They liked it. So for $47.00 I have nothing to eat. I will be tossing my food in the garbage. Don't bother eating here.
google avatar

Larissa L.

Yelp
We love this place! It's cheap, quick, and tasty. They deliver food quickly and you can always order ahead for pickup. The orange chicken is fantastic and the wonton soup is one of my favorites.

Yelp
Coming from NY, we've been looking for a good Chinese take out...it hasn't been easy. Ordered delivery tonight for 6 people, bill was over $100. First, we were sent the wrong chicken dish. Ordered Mongolian chicken, 2 of them...we got some super spicy dish. Ok, whatever. The crispy beef was good, but overly sweet. Sesame chicken was good. Crab Rangoon was good. Ribs were just not good. Shrimp and cashew...meh. Lo mein...meh. Fried rice, meh. Overall, it didn't blow us away. Plus the delivery guy did not look pleased with his tip. I don't know how delivery tipping works in Texas but I don't think tipping the delivery guy a percentage based on the bill is necessary.

T L.

Yelp
Good takeout, inexpensive delivery fee, fast and accurate delivery, generous on the sauce packets. HUGE fan of the online order feature!! Just wish they had pictures or descriptions of the dishes.

Yelp
It was around 9:45pm on a weekday and we were looking for a place that serves rice in one form or another in Mckinney ,Good place for take out.. we ordered all vegetarian dishes and were pleasantly surprised , portion size were good , their sugar biscuits were really good very similar to funnel cake
