"At China Chalet, you can have everything you’ve ever wanted: dim sum, a Chinese banquet dinner, and a midnight rave scene. The room is lit up with bright pink LEDs and the tables are dressed in pink tablecloths with red roses and green fanned napkins. The food is good, the decor is better, and the irony is perfect. If you find yourself at a party here, you’ll be amidst flashing strobes, downtown club kids, and middle-aged Chinese servers in waiter jackets making vodka tonics and ask yourself, "Where the hell am I?" - Paperless Post

First time at this restaurant. Everything was delicious! Had several appetizers; the crystal shrimp dumplings, salt and pepper squid, chicken wings, and dumplings in hot oil. For the entree I had the Kung Pao Chicken with Peanuts. It's u like the usual Kung Pao because it doesn't come with the usual carrots and celery. It was really delicious with the chicken being very tender. A warning! It is very spicy hot, which I enjoy.

Google
Grade Pending but we braved it anyway. Food were flavorful. But there were flies in the dining area & especially in the bathroom that will probably make you lose your appetite. The service is not very friendly or attentive. I don't think we will be back.

Google
the first time i went here, everything was absolutely PERFECT. no bad things about it at all. the second time, was almost perfect. i felt like sometimes, our server wasn't the friendliest or patient. maybe that was just me. but the food was again, really really really good. something i will never stop recommending is the chicken fried rice. (CHEFS KISS.) and the wonton soup. both are absolutely delicious. prices are fair and reasonable as well. the restaurant is a really good location, right across from the majestic theater at broadway (phantom of the opera). also quick service, usually not TOO many people there, which is good because things could get crowded, especially at broadway.

This place is so good! Don't think they get the credit they deserve. The waiter went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.

I found this place whole looking for a spot to eat in Times Square. I was so impressed. It’s clean and cozy. The food was 10/10! I had the spicy beef lo mein and it was amazing! It’ll become my favorite place to go anytime I visit Times Square

Google
The only reason I visited this place was because I booked a ticket for 'Phantom of the Opera' at Majestic theater, which is just across the street. I reach the venue nearly 2 hours early and it was cold and raining, so decided to pop inside this small restaurant. The place is cozy and I could enjoy a few drinks and light snacks while I wait for the show. Their 'hot sake' is amazing. Just what I needed to beat the new York chill. I had a soup which was also great. I liked their sake so much that when the show ended, I went back to the place. They were closing down but were courteous enough to serve me the drink while they closed down.

The food is great at China River but the service is absolutely amazing. Ask for Cody, if he is working demand he is your waiter. He will make your night.

The lunch specials were pretty good! I ordered cumin stir-fry pot with fish, pork bean curd, and green pepper beef. The soups were a little bit too thick for me, but the main dishes were good. The stir-fry pot were not too oily, and the green peppers were spicy but not too much. Overall, it’s a pretty good place for some Chinese food. :)

Yelp
One of most popular places along my colleagues for group lunch. They serve big portions without asking for a fortune. The menu options are diverse, and everyone would find anything that fit their appetite. There is a lot of space in this seemingly tiny restaurant, we often have big group lunch's on their second floor.

Yelp
Very nice reasonably priced restaurant in the theater district, we used the Yelp app for a free spring roll. We ordered the pork buns and a couple of luncheon specials. Shrimp lo mein and chicken with eggplant. The dishes also came with a choice of soup. We both had hot and sour. Very good food and responsible lunch portions in the theater district.

Kathy X.

Yelp
I came here for lunch with a small group of friends and shared the Scallion Pancake, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, as well as the Fish Fillet with Garlic and Ginger. There was also a Check In offer of free spring rolls. The Fish Fillet was tender, juicy, with strong taste of both garlic and ginger. This was served with rice, which was cooked perfectly, fluffy, and very good with the sauce from the fish. The Crystal Shrimp Dumplings were also yummy, filled with juicy, well seasoned shrimp and soft, sticky exterior. I also enjoyed the spring rolls, which were satisfyingly crunchy with fresh vegetable inside. I wasn't a fan of the Scallion Pancake, as it was too greasy for me and didn't have enough scallions. Service was decent. Our waiter was friendly and brought everything out in a timely manner. The food was just okay, so I would not return.

Yelp
Delicious Chinese food! Me and my cousins came here after a Broadway show. It was clean and the service was great. The food had really good flavor too!

Farrah B.

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant a few times and the food is consistently delicious. The staff is fairly nice and they seem like they might be family member superior the only issue I have is the inconsistency in the size of the dishes. It's $14 for fried rice and it's a pretty small portion depending on which chef is present. Same with the chicken with string beans, ringing in at $18. Hopefully they can resume to creating the dishes with a standard size comparable to the price . Note: if you order an entree, it does not come with rice. Yes, that is for white, brown, rice fried whatever, it's all separate, like dim sum. Do try them out though, the food is tasty.

Kiarra V.

Yelp
The food was PHENOMENAL!!! The service was good, not great, but our food came super fresh and exceeded my expectations. I think the restaurant could use a little bit better ambiance, but I am very satisfied as the food was super authentic!

Jessica A.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite before seeing a show next door. I was seated right away and on this hot evening was grateful for the bottle of water and glass placed on the table as I was seated. Veggie spring rolls are free with Yelp checkin and absolutely delicious. They were served almost immediately, the potstickers were served just as I finished the spring rolls. The pork potstickers were excellent. Highly recommend this spot for a pre-theater bite! Service and food were excellent.

Yelp
We had a great lunch here Sunday 11/19/22. China River did an excellent job accommodating our group. Depending on the time, we had 12-17 people on their second floor. (Booked group on google, and confirmed with restautant) Food was great! Service was fantastic. The best combination of meal/service we have had in Times Square and we are glad the concierge recommended it. We started with dim sum (but, I forgot to take photos.). We had shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, pork buns and soup dumplings, which were all good. For entrees, we had spicy crispy beef, shrimp with broccoli, eggplant with green beans, fried rice, and a mushroom entree. All were very good and everyone enjoyed. When in Times Square, we would definitely dine again.

Robyn S.

Yelp
If I could give a review with zero stars I would. This was some of the most disgusting Chinese food I have ever had. The hot and sour soup was nothing more than water and had no flavor to speak of. The Mongolian beef which is pretty hard to mess up was not edible in my opinion. The sauce was more of a curry base which is not normal. The steak was tough and was hard to eat. The mushrooms were good though. Friends I was with ordered a hot pot- that was pretty good and the other one ordered the orange chicken. The orange chicken was better than the Mongolian beef. Overall we decided we liked the Chow House better and went back to them for our last meal out in NYC.

Yelp
Solid spot for takeout! The general tso's was good! The consistency of the chicken was good.

Yelp
When we were in NYC 2 years ago, the concierge at our hotel recommended China River , and we enjoyed it very much. The wait staff was friendly then, helpful, and the portions were plentiful. Not the mention the food was delicious. Before I current trip we were so excited to return again and enjoy the terrific earlier experience, however, like many return visits the experience paled by comparison. The sever was not especially friendly or friendly, rather non committal to our customers there. We each ordered plain tea, and when it arrived it was lemon flavored. We asked about it and discovered that it was bottled tea, not freshly brewed tea. When we asked for brewed tea she returned with something that was tea flavored but very weak. In addition to the tea, we ordered crystal shrimp dumplings , spring rolls, and hot and sour soup. These very the tastiest and best part of the entire dining experience. For our entree we ordered shrimp in brown sauce and decided to share it, thinking that the portion would be more than enough. We were again disappointed, since it looked like a small plate meal for one. Owing to the indifferent service, lack of honesty about the tea, and smaller portions, the China River can continue to flow without us. I have even cancelled my reservation there for later this week.

Yelp
The food here is AMAZING, really everything here is wonderful. The Spicy food has a deep, complex spice, give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Ilene S.

Yelp
Stopped for a bite prior to seeing our show. The pork soup dumplings and shrimp fried rice were the best of the evening. The Dan Dan noodles were fair although they did have a nice spicy flavor.

Angela L.

Yelp
It was amazing and impressive experience. It is so good Chinese food I only had in China. Everything is delicious. The xiaolong bao and all other food was amazing. The service was super super good too. I almost lost my lv scarf there but they kept it for me. The restaurant is so good and the waiters there was very friendly and nice. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Farabe and I came here after watching a show for dinner. The restaurant didn't have too many people and we were seated quickly. I ordered chicken and broccoli with shrimp fried rice. Farabe got chicken with string beans and shrimp fried rice. The chicken dishes were flavorful and not too salty or greasy. Personally, I wish the dishes had more sauce. The shrimp rice was tasty but, it lacked a bit of flavor. It just need a bit more seasoning but, it was tasty with the chicken dishes. I also like that the fried rice had big shrimps and it wasn't tiny dried baby shrimp. They have lunch special deals but, no dinner, happy hour, or combo meals.

Teresa L.

Yelp
Happened to be in the area and came across this restaurant that has decent lunch special menu. It comes with white or brown rice and hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. Pretty spacious restaurant with nice decor. Service was quick and staff was friendly. Glad the restaurant could adjust/lower the spicy level of the hot and sour soup and it hit the spot on a cold raining day. The string beans with minced pork and brown rice was delicious and perfect portion. Would definitely come back again for lunch/dinner when in the hood.

Yelp
Food was good. However, the ding is about being charged for rice. We ordered a chicken and a beef dish. When ordering the waitress very casually said "and you want the rice" as in like if maybe we were not going to eat the rice, she didn't want to waste it. I can totally understand that. We were charged and extra standalone charge of $4.00 for 2 small cups of rice. We eat at a good bit of Chinese restaurants, and I have NEVER, ever been charged for rice when ordering a main dish like chicken or beef. If they are going to charge extra for a cup of rice, then be clear and SAY SO! I felt really deceived. Not that $4 is going to break the bank it's the feeling of deception and being taken advantage of. Nothing on the menu indicating rice is extra and does not come with main dish. This place was by no means cheap. Many other places to choose from so I probably would not go back. Wherever I go now I will certainly ask if they charge extra for rice. If they do, I will probably go elsewhere...

Allen T.

Yelp
Came here with buddy for the dry hot pot. While I am always a bit apprehensive about ordering a la carte and per item especially with this place being smack dab in the middle of Time Square (seemingly like a tourist trap) I thought I escaped with a very filling stomach! Overall ~$35-$40 for just the dry hotpot to feed two people. We asked them to make it the hot pot super spicy and dang did they hit the spot.

Maleny O.

Yelp
This place HITS on FLAVOR! Customer service host are very nice. But I will say for the price your paying it does not match with what your receiving. You guys are pricy to not be giving me my whole meal. Overall ,maybe go eat at the place to receive the right amount of food for what your paying , otherwise delivery portions are not it! Just saying

Regina X.

Yelp
Menu is all over the place with non-Sichuan cuisine like soup dumplings, but makes sense given it's catering to both American and Chinese tastes. From an authenticity standpoint: 3/5! Some dishes like the Eggplant and String Beans are a miss: too oily and just salty, not even with proper sauce. And soup dumpling wrappers are too thick. However, other dishes like the Beef Noodle Soup are solid. Above all, China River is walking distance to Times Square and hits the spot if you're in the area. Convenient for larger parties too as there is an upstairs area to accomodate parties of 6+.

Pa T.

Yelp
Pretty standard Chinese items. This review is based on takeout/delivery. The chow fun has great texture and is well seasoned. The steamed dumplings have ok flavors, the dumpling skin is bit too thick for my liking though.

Kat C.

Yelp
Wow! So happy to have come across this place by chance. We had a wonderful meal and fantastic service. The restaurant is casual, offering an extended menu, authentic leaf tea, and a fun atmosphere. I loved the edamame, steamed pork dumplings, and the spicy beef. So glad we skipped the madness of Broadway mediocre places for this yummy treat. I cannot wait to get back.

Chad C.

Yelp
The first thing I wanted to do food wise when I got to New York was indulge in good Chinese food, then I met China River! Man listen, the food came out soooo fast, was sooo hot and fresh and soooo sooo good. Great service, great location, great water!!! I left thoroughly impressed and satisfied. You're welcome.

Brandon S.

Yelp
Owner is very nice, love talking to him. 3 of us and got 4 entrees rice and tea and not too expensive.

Martin H.

Yelp
Flavourful Chinese food is a delicacy I have always enjoyed. One of the best dishes I have had the pleasure of tasting was at China River. The perfect blend of spicy, sweet, and salty flavours is something that can't be beat! Every morsel had just the right amount of heat and the stir fry stayed crispy and flavorful. Whatmade it exceptionally delicious was how fresh each ingredient was - from thick chunks of chicken to crunchy bell peppers. The remainder of my meal fulfilled my craving for mouth-watering Chinese entrées. To me the Cauliflower and beef dish had the most scrumptious combination that sent my palate into a blissful state!

Alex C.

Yelp
Watch out for the tip! They add 18% gratuity by default, then they ask for extra tip in the receipt (see attached). We were essentially charged 18% twice on our bill for poor waiter service; now, we have to dispute our bank account bill for the incorrect amount. Prices are high for the amount of food that they provide. I would recommend going elsewhere simply to skip the hassle of having to double-tip. 18% gratuity is already fairly generous for 2 people - requesting for double is outrageous.

Alresch J.

Yelp
It's hard to really rate any of the Chinese places that I've been to in the last couple of weeks. Every spot has had its strong points and basically whichever province the kitchen staff is from just what I would try to find out an order. It turns out this place is staffed from a province that does the spiciest of entrees and the waiter brought his personal favorites out... I didn't even bother asking for the menu or looking for one. The picture should do justice. They were as delicious as they look in the pictures. Just a spicy. The noodles are a cold dish however. If that's not your thing I don't recommend it but they were delicious and should be something you try if you're a foodie of any type. Considering this is a couple of feet away from my hotel room it will be a regular haunt.

Mark M.

Yelp
The service was terrible the moment we came in the restaurant. There were only two customers in the restaurant and we were sat in the back near the kitchen. The food was not good. We were served our appetizer with our main meal. The waiter did not want to server us and at the end we were given a bill that already had the tip in the bill. It was only 2 of us. They said that all the restaurants were doing that. I said no we have been to the other restaurants in the area and they are not doing thst. It simply felt like we were treated different than everyone else. I don't know why. If I could do 0 stars I would. I am very disappointed in how my wife and I were treated by the hostess and waiter.

David W.

Yelp
Within a stones throw of Sardis and Carmines this hole in the wall is an absolute if you want authentic Chinese food and want to stay in the theatre district. The hot and sour soup has an outstanding flavor and not too spicy for those that can't handle the heat. We asked for the kitchen to make two dishes not on the menu...muxu pork and stir fried green beans. Both were devine. The green beans especially were to perfection in terms of crispness and flavor. The place is not overly crowded and the food comes out so fast you can make a 7:00 pm show while dining at 5:30 pm. We are foodies, dining out in Phoenix where we live multiple times a week. Take this review to heart.

Andrius R.

Yelp
Had egg & tomato soup + pork belly. Soup was a LARGE portion - defo too much for one person, i guess perfect for 2 or 3. Pork belly was amazing. You have to order rice separate, which is OK i guess, but my fried rice (with egg) was ~15 $ ? I bit pricey for garnish, i guess... Staff is fast & efficient, New York style - they wanna feed you and get your table ready for the next visitor - fair enough, i suppose :)

Nicole S.

Yelp
Terrific gem in the heart of the theatre district!!! Perfect for a night at the Helen Hayes theatre when didn't have to deal with the tourists at Sardis and carmines! Staff efficient and nice! Chicken kam po and fish with scallion hit the spot in addition to soup dumplings and spring rolls!

Hannah N.

Yelp
$9.95 thousand year egg?! Please stop using fake pic on your menu. Disappointed. Won't order again....

MaeBeth S.

Yelp
The menu had good American Chinese selections and some authentic options as well. It was so good we went back the next day. The ambiance was nice as well. The service was great and the food came out quickly.

Edy K.

Yelp
Cody and the whole waiting staff are really nice and the food is delicious. I come here multiple times a week, and I love the Wonton Soup and Shrimp Fried Rice.

Odenton Mom L.

Yelp
Had a great experience hear on Christmas Day! Food was fabulous and service was good!

Michael A.

Yelp
This little jewel was awesome. We went to it twice on our vacation. Our children love Chinese food and this place did not disappoint. The food was delish, service was wonderful, and we had great time connecting over a meal. Would highly recommend this place for visitors to NYC

Richard R.

Yelp
Food was well prepared and tasted just right. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The overall ambiance was very quiet, as we were one of the few patrons seated in the restaurant at 7:30pm on a Tuesday evening. Strongly recommend.

Win Shwe Y.

Yelp
Amazing service! Best service among all the chinese restaurants i have been. The food tastes amazing and the price is decent. Love the spiciness and all the meat. Great for sharing

Liza C.

Yelp
This was by my hotel, and was so glad we came across it. We had the lunch special with beef n broc and Chongqing chicken, and that came with egg drop soup and fried rice. I loved everything about my food and service. The portion was good and the price was great. Service was amazing! Thank you so much! Don't forget to check in for 2 free spring rolls.

Yelp
I recently got a chance to dine here as I am not uptown very often. It was a very exciting change of pace as the Theatre District in Manhattan is one of the busiest places. The restaurant is very accessible by subway if using public transport and right across from the Phantom of the Opera theatre. It was a weeknight that my friend and I decided on dinner here. We were curious as neither of us had ever eaten here. It looks very quaint from the outside however when you walk in you are greeted by a very luxurious looking establishment that contains a very full service bar with high chair seating. The layout of the dining area makes good use of the space as it is a good sized restaurant (the it goes deep into the back) and there are stairs that lead to an upper level where there are more tables available. Before entering, I was outside waiting for my friend and was not surprised at the line of people waiting to get in to see Phantom. I can see that usually this is a good location for the restaurant due to the high traffic area. As we entered, the manager Teng was by the front desk. He showed us to our seats and indicated who our server would be. The restaurant to my surprise was not too busy for dinner. We were seated near the back. It was nice and quiet which was ideal for my guest and I. Our server Fu was very on point. He was helping another table before us and promptly came over to us to ask what we wanted. Since it was our first time we still needed some time to decide. The menu is quite impressive with the choices...a lot of the food was naturally very spicy. Throughout the meal, while Fu was busy, another employee named Tina was super helpful. She checked on us to make sure we were all right. We started with drinks. They ran out of the Watermelon sake so my friend decided to get a Sangria (red wine, brandy, triple sec and fresh fruit) and I opted with the Tsing Tao Mojito (mint, lime, rum and bottle of beer). The sangria came in a standard wine glass however the mojito came in a larger glass and the beer bottle was suspended inside. I certainly was not expecting this but it turned out to be a refreshing drink. For a starter, we went with the classic Dan Dan Noodles. The meat and chili oil and spice on top of the noodles were a great way to whet the appetite. Entrees that were shared between us: Taro Chicken - classic Sichuan flavor with chicken and taro in a spicy broth. I was concerned it would be too spicy but it had just enough kick that still allowed us to savor the flavors. Eastern Lion Head - pork meatball in vegetable tofu soup. This was a very savor dish. The meatballs were very well cooked on the outside and had a pink inside which is naturally for cooked pork. The broth with the vegetables and tofu went well with the white rice. For dessert we just got the mango pomelo sago which was a great way to end the meal and help to battle all the spice we encountered. Overall, a great experience for the first time visiting this restaurant. Again special mentions go to Fu and Tina for their diligence in making sure we were looked after. **For those who are there from 11a - 3:30p M-F and are looking for a deal, there are lunch specials!!

Jay F.

Yelp
Basic carry out Chinese place. Wings were fried hard, rice was good. Fried shrimp were crispy.

Rose L.

Yelp
Popped by on a weekday for a quick lunch special with a friend. The lunch includes a soup, rice + entree for around $12 We tried both of the offered soups, egg drop & hot+sour. Both did not have very complex flavours, but portions were generous. For the entree, we shared the spring beans with minced pork and the dry cumin fish dish which was good. I think my favourite dish were the string beans- very flavorful and fragrant. The dry pot was similar in that the flavours weren't complex but for the price and location, it is a good stop. The food came out very quickly for all the meals and chairs were very comfortable. The location is also good about checking vaccination cards. 3.5 stars!

Yelp
We found this place simply because it was on our route from the work building to the hotel. It's right across from the Phantom of the Opera theater and I would describe it as a hole-in-the-wall type of place. Sure, it's in the tourist area, but it wasn't overly busy like the tourist trap places, and the food was amazing. There are 3 floors to this place, although I think only 2 were being used. We arrived and were taken to the 2nd floor which had a few tables. Looking at the menu, there were lots of options available. I saw diced frog on the menu, and although that didn't sound appealing to me, I knew that meant we were in for some good authentic food. We started off with the Vegetable Dumplings and Spring Rolls (Free with Yelp Check-in) and they were both good. The spring rolls were crispy and it came with this dipping sauce that was a bit sweet and bit sour (I should have asked what it was called). The dumplings were green and filled with flavorful veggies. We got them pan fried to add a bit of texture. The not-so-adventurous diner ordered General Tso's chicken which was fresh and delicious, according to him. The broccoli was bright green and the sauce wasn't overly spicy. He said it could have used more. It wasn't overly breaded, and although he enjoyed it, it was on par with other restaurants' versions. I ventured out and ordered the Mapu Tofu without pork to make it more on the Vegan side (I can't confirm the sauce was or was not vegan though). This dish came with a bright red sauce that was out of this world amazing. The flavor was bright and it had a nice spice. The szechuan peppercorns in this dish did what I heard they were supposed to do. At first, I though it was just spicy. But later realized I had that tingling sensation of the peppercorns dancing in my mouth. Very cool! The one's I bought and use at home don't do that. The tofu was soft and was more silken tofu than firm tofu (I'm not a tofu expert right now). It was delicious with the brown rice option they offered as well. The service was good as well with lots of water refills, and they were needed. It was reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Bathrooms on floors 1 and 3 were small, but private. It could use a cleaning of the windows as they had a haziness to them. The water was super hot which was nice on a cold day. If you're in Times Square and want NYC Chinese, this may be a place to try it. I always read reviews about places being close to NYC Chines, and now I know why they compare them.

Yelp
4.5 stars. China River is located in the theater district right next to the St. James Theater. You can easily walk by and miss it. From the front, the restaurant looks small but once you go in, you will see the restaurant keeps going towards the back and has a balcony for more seating. Ambiance was super relaxed, it felt nice to come inside and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. As you walk in, there's a small waiting area and full-service bar to the right. Staff is very welcoming and attentive and the menu is extensive! Took us a minute to decide what to order. Menu is traditional Sichuan Chinese food fare. We ordered mini pork soup dumplings, lettuce wraps with diced chicken and pine nuts, salt and pepper pork chop, sizzling sliced beef, plain fried rice, and shrimps with walnuts. The pork chops were superb, and I really liked the presentation. The salt and pepper pork chops were served on a bamboo rice basket. Meat was tender with crunchy exterior. The fried pepper, shallots and garlic gave it a nice aroma. This was definitely my favorite dish from our meal and a must try. Soup dumplings had nice thin casings and good flavored broth. The shrimp with cashews were okay, I've had better. The sizzling sliced beef was delicious and had a lot of flavor. It came with red and green peppers and onions in brown sauce. The lettuce wraps were refreshing. The pine nuts with the diced chicken and fresh lettuce were a good combo. Prices here are comparable for the area. Food were plated nicely and were tasty. The service here is quick and we got our food a little over five minutes after we ordered. With service like this, I imagine this a perfect place for a quick pre theater meal.

Yelp
Make reservations or try your luck to be squeezed in for some delish Chinese food. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess. He asked if we had reservations (which we didn't) and was able seat us within a minute of us walking in. ORDER Crispy Pan Fried Noodles with Beef - This is usually my go to when eating Chinese (along with Honey Walnut Shrimp which I find it hard to find! Message me if you know where to get some legit honey walnut shrimp and not the kind at Panda Express.) I couldn't have been more satisfied with the crispy noodles and flavor of the broth, beef and broccoli - Yum! Growing up eating rice; I ordered a side of rice to add to my noodles. Lo Mein - I'm not a huge fan of Lo Mein but this spot impressed me with theirs. It was very good. The noodles were perfectly cooked - not too hard which I find some seem to be. Sichuan flavour Beef - This was one of the top items on the menu and it made the cut. The waitress said it was spicy but it wasn't too spicy for me (and I can't handle too much spice - even as an island girl). By the time we left, a rush of people were waiting in the waiting area to be seated. I recommend making reservations if you don't mind waiting in the event it's busy. Check them out. My visit was around the Chinese New Year but didn't see anything that stood out other than the delicious food.

Yelp
Great Sichuan restaurant right in the heart of the theatre district. Came here at 6:30pm and barely saw any theatre goers, which was nice as I know many places get jam packed. It was relatively quiet making conversation enjoyable. We kept dinner to just three dishes, outlined below. Cumin Lamb: Huge slices of lamb, peppers, and onions. Spice level was perfect. Lamb had a bit too much salt, but with peppers it balanced out. Old Fashioned Fish: Highlight of the meal. It's cooked in several different wines along with myriad of spices and herbs. Spiciness was perfection - despite being covered in red chili peppers, it wasn't too intense. I would come back here just for this fish. Highly, highly recommend. Peking Duck: Half duck, perfect size for just two people. It comes with four large, thick wraps, and plenty of spring onion and cucumber. The pieces are cut really small and narrow, which I didn't like, as if being chopped up to feed an infant. I wish they did normal cuts. Otherwise, the duck was flavorful and I'd order a whole one next time. Service was attentive, friendly, and quick. The servers were always smiling and would come by to check on things, a far cry from normal Chinatown. Overall, I found this to be a fantastic restaurant that might just become my go-to for pre-show dinners.

Yelp
Food is great and price is good for the area. I work nearby so I come very often and they have great lunch options. Everything on the menu that I've tried so far has been delicious. My go to is the cumin beef or garlic chicken

Yelp
4 stars: 5 stars for their peppercorn fish dish which is really good, 3-3.5 stars for a lot of other dishes. I've been to this place lots of times and the experience has been uneven depending on what we ordered. The peppercorn fish dish is really great if you like spicy greasy numbing Sichuan food and your seafood fresh. The fish is REALLY thinly sliced which I haven't seen at other places. (Message me if you know another place that does this well.). This usually says 1) the fish is fresh, 2) chef has mad knifework skillz. Other stuff is hit and miss. I also enjoy the seafood asparagus soup sometimes. The menu has pictures which is a plus. Don't expect much from the ambiance. It's a Sichuan resto in Times Square...

Yelp
So my girlfriend and I were hungry in the middle of night so we decided to get some Chinese delivered to our hotel! I got the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and my girlfriend got the shrimp fried rice with spring rolls! The food was good! It wasn't the best Chinese food ever but it hit the spot with our craving that night!
