Today was my first time going to this restaurant. I am a big foodie and I am beyond honest about everything I say on these reviews. I only went to this location because someone said it’s a comparison to New York Chinese. Me being born and raised in the heart of New York City I can disagree. I ordered chicken wings and shrimp fried rice. The smell in the car on the way home smelled like very greasy food. After tasting the chicken I can tell it’s chicken from the day before and was just refried. The rice was ok but bland and only had six little shrimp in it. I paid $11.94 for my meal and it definitely wasn’t worth it. Food looks great but the taste was off.

Nice people! I enjoyed my dumplings, which came with sauce. Questionable life choices- my sister bet me $5 to down the sauce like a shot. Easiest 5 bucks ever. If that kind of information is helpful to you.

The food is so good. The staff is friendly and the is made fresh and fast. The chicken garlic sauce is amazing.

It was great food for pickup. Simple food without a lot of added veggies. Tastes great.

My favorite fried rice, especiallythe shrimp fried rice. No weird taste and doesn't taste too healthy like some of the other near by options

Unfortunately chicken tasted old both wing and rice. Rice said plain on the menu and it most certainly was. Young lady at the front super nice, food super bad.

I have been eating here for 6 years! Prices have never changed and are so cheap. The food is also amazing. The staff is friendly as well. If you are looking to dine in, they no longer offer this.

This is a take-out only restaurant. You can order ahead, but I usually order in the store. It's never been more than a 15 minute wait. I've never been disappointed with the food or service. It's comparable to NYC Chinese food! My favorite is the sesame chicken. The beef and broccoli is also good. Added bonus- you can see them working in the kitchen, so you can see them preparing all of the orders.

3.5/5. Still wish half stars were an option. Did I like my food? Yes, insofar as I ever enjoy Chinese carry out. Would I order again? Definitely not impossible, but honestly not super likely -- not because I had a bad experience, but just because I don't do Chinese carry out that often and I'd have to enjoy the food more than I did to warrant changing that fact. Some pros: lunch specials are a pretty great deal. Around 13-14 bucks for two HUGE plates of food. Honestly, you could maybe make two meals out of each of them if you weren't crazy hungry either time. Lunch specials come with your choice of entree, chicken or veggie fried rice, and your choice of a drink, egg roll, or soup. Covid precautions are excellent. Food and payment are exchanged through a small wooden box at the front door and you speak to employees through plexiglass. It's hard to explain the whole setup, but it's impressive and very well thought out. Food was honestly pretty good! I had the chicken with cashews and boyfriend had sesame chicken, with both of us picking egg rolls. I wasn't expecting my chicken to be breaded and fried -- that's at least not how a very similar dish at Ding How is served -- but I didn't particularly mind and the breading stayed fairly crispy on the way home. The dish came with celery, cashews, mushrooms, and carrots mixed in with a ton of chicken pieces. It was sweeter than I thought it would be, but all in all fairly enjoyable. I tried boyfriend's sesame chicken and liked that, too. The chicken fried rice didn't send me -- had an aftertaste I didn't like -- but once some of the sauce soaked in it tasted good. Egg roll was greasy but in the pleasurable kind of way, haha. Some cons: Had to wait longer than we were told for our food. Not super long, but definitely more than the 15 minutes we were promised. Service was kind of lukewarm but not really unfriendly. Overall, seems like a pretty good option for Chinese carry out; I'd say I like it better than Ding How and Panda, which are both fairly close to this area. I'd recommend giving them a try if you're craving this kind of food.

The food is always fresh and the service is fast! My fav dish is the mei fun( shrimp) and the egg drop soup is so good!

Crab rangoons was fire. That's all I have to say. The inside was just ok but the food is what speaks volumes.

Beat Chinese we have found in the Huntsville area. Great food and great prices/value. Love the General Tso and Kung Pao

Why is this 4.5 went yesterday and was overcooked hard bits of general tzo chicken with low menu and nasty bits of lettuce in it. Not very good imo took couple bites and threw away

Best Chinese fast food in south Huntsville hands down. Always cooked fresh to order. Locally owned by a sweet family.

We were looking for a go to Chinese restaurant since we are new to the area and stumbled upon this place. I can tell you I am going to be a repeat customer. I got the spicy garlic chicken, large wonton soup and my husband got the Szechuan chicken. The soup is amazing. The garlic chicken was delicious. Egg rolls are great. It's takeout only and they have a plastic door in place so you have to wait outside until your food is ready. Great COVID protocols.

The Food is delicious and the portions are generous. It is a family business that has been here for several years.

Not the best Chinese. The chicken fried rice didn't have a lot of flavor and was full of the little chicken pieces you'd find in Campbell's soup. I started picking it out. A few onions in the rice but no vegetables. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. No veggies included, but it was pretty good, even though I had to return to get the sweet and sour sauce. It wasn't automatically included in the order. General Tso's chicken was not spicy. Overall, price and location are great, but the food wasn't worth it. Maybe add some vegetarian options or vegetable-heavy dishes.

When you first arrive you place your order at the front door where there is a ring camera and a plexiglass window. I ordered the garlic beef and my husband ordered the sesame chicken. The portions are big and could easily fill anyone up. I came during their lunch special hours and only paid $6.75 for the meal and a side of miso soup. The food was good. There is a small table for outdoor eating but that's about it. Overall good place.

Yum! My husband had the General Tso's chicken, and it was great! Just enough spice, not really any filler veggies, and a ton of chicken. We also got the crab Rangoon, which for me was too fishy. I guess I am used to fake crab but these tasted like fresh crab meat, so a lot of people might like it. I got the Sweet and Sour Chicken, which had a ton of chicken and that was great. However, I found the sauce to be pretty watery and with not a lot of flavor. Overall, we will be going back and I will just try something else because I am sure I will find something delicious.

The person who waited on us was kind of impatient..BUT the other server was amazing!! The food was hot when we got home!!

The workers and owners are so kind here. The food is absolutely amazing. I've been back twice in one day before. The portions are a nice size as well but I can't get over how sweet and kind the staff were in this restaurant. They for sure have found a loyal customer in me. Awesome food, amazing staff, and a great atmosphere. I don't have anything but positive comments about this place.

China sun is the best Chinese place in south Huntsville! Quick and convenient, everything is great!

We were hoping to finally find a good takeout place, but the food here is lacking in flavor. The shrimp lo mein was just noodles, a few small shrimp, and some cabbage with the noodles- no other veggies. The Szechuan chicken wasn't spicy at all, but other than that it was okay. This spot is fast, reasonably priced, and got our order right. But it's underwhelming even for takeout, so we'll head elsewhere for our takeout fix in the future.

Food was very good, delivered on time. Mongolian beef and General Tao's chicken were both spicy, in a great way. Sweet and sour pork had no veggies in the sauce ( our preference is with) just as a heads up. Chicken with veggies had was really good with plenty of chicken I definitely recommend as one of the best Chinese take out places in Huntsville and/or Madison county and we have tried all of them over the past decade.

Always great food and lots of it. The best deal for Chinese food in Huntsville. Bring a healthy appetite and always order the crab Rangoon as an appetizer!!

Order a meal for my family, food was hot. Crab Rangoon was amazing. Yet the chicken it's self was tough hard to chew. Didn't have a nice flavor or texture to the meat. I would not recommend eating here anymore. It use to be my go to place. I'll be looking for a new Chinese takeout place.

Seeing all the rave reviews for this place, I was excited to see if New China Sun would live up to its hype. I ordered the General Tso's chicken lunch special which came with chicken fried rice and a drink for $5.75. They definitely were very generous with the amount of chicken they gave, but the chicken itself didn't quite cut it for me. Maybe it's because I live 15 min away, so the crunchiness of the chicken didn't last by the time I got home. Or maybe the other reviewers had other entrees. Either way, the chicken was your average General Tso's that may or may not hit the spot depending on your own taste buds. The chicken fried rice was also just okay. I also didn't get my drink with my order, which made me regret not going to my go-to Chinese takeout restaurant considering that the lunch special is the same price.

I've been to several Chinese restaurants in Huntsville Alabama and by far this is the best I've ever had. Staff and food are excellent

A beautiful hole-in-the-wall... Generous flavorful portions! I love the wonton egg drop soup! I've tried most of the items in n the menu, and you cannot go wrong. You're greeted by a beautiful Asian lady (or her little sisters) who guide you through the ordering process. Behind them are one or two stout gentlemen braving the kitchen fires, and preparing exquisite wok dishes. This is a real jewel!!

Great local restaurant! The food is always hot and delicious and ready very quickly. Very friendly family staff. So glad it's close to our house.

Your typical Americanized Chinese food, with all the usual favorites. The big attraction here is the Sunday lunch special - $2.99 for any number of favorites with chicken fried rice. We got take out: General Tso's Chicken, Broccoli with garlic, Schezuan Beef, and Sesame Chicken. They cook the vegetables with the meat right in front of you, so it's at least somewhat fresh. The portion is just about the right size - enough to sate your hunger, but not enough for leftovers. The place was quite busy at noon on a Sunday with everyone partaking of the lunch special. Best Chinese food I have found locally. Great prices as well. I was super bummed when they closed for Covid and literally checked every day to see when they would re open.

We've been looking for a good Asian restaurant since relocating from the PNW last year. New China Moon is the best we've found. All the dishes we've tried were great. The Szechuan Chicken is great and the Hot and Sour Soup is outstanding.

This is personally one of my favorite Chinese places in Huntsville, especially if you want something quick and cheap for lunch. I love the lunch special!

This is really good takeout food. They have a great selection,have it ready when I get there, and everything has been really good. They have a good take out system going too during this pandemic where you don't have to go inside. You pay and pickup at the door which is really great. It's a family owned place that is top notch.

This isn't really a go sit and eat place, there are only a couple of tables. It is more for take-out. The food is maybe the best Chinese in the area. Full of flavor and good quality ingredients. Very fairly priced and portions are about right for the value. You will not be disappointed with the food or the service.

I've been looking for a good chinese place after being SERIOUSLY disappointed with the chinese at Ding How II. I've been spoiled because I've lived in a major city for the last few years. I thought for sure I wouldn't find a place but, this place hits the spot. Its really cheap and the food is pretty good. It will NEVER match the deliciousness of my hometown chinese place, but it will be my go to spot as long as I live in Huntsville. Plus, while I was eating there the owner's two little daughters were sitting in the table over. They were the cutest most joyful kids ever. I had a good time, the food was hot, and yummy. Will be back!

I live very close to China Sun. While it's convenient, my wife and I would still rather drive across town for better food. Theirs is simply alright, and they are pretty quick. Can't say that they're terrible, can't say that they're great.

Excellent food. Have eaten here or ratcheted ordered from here for years, over 10 at least. Fast service and is truly a family restaurant with their daughters helping out at the register. Only drawback is they don't deliver. But then again it's one way they can keep their prices so reasonable.

I live very close and my 63 year old dad eats it everyday almost. It's quick, cheap, easy and convenient. Not for large dine in groups but quick pick up for lunch or dinner.

It was Sunday night, I was in a state and town I had never visited. I couldn't find a good BBQ place that was open (top of the list when visiting Alabama, right?). I pinged Yelp and hit 'China Sun' because it was rated 4.7 (from 10 reviews). Unfortunately, I should have remembered I was in Huntsville, Alabama. My mistake. The family that owns and runs this restaurant is from Southern China; Fujian, I believe they said. Unfortunately for Huntsville, they have adopted the standard "Americanized Chinese" menu. That is, a menu people in America have come and known to be 'Chinese' but isn't. Every dish is sweet and 'spicy' is not. In fact, I didn't see, smell nor taste one flake of pepper. Not even in the medium-spicy Sichuan Beef I had. Of course, the main dish being called in for take out? Sweet and Sour Chicken. Hmph. It's a shame for Huntsville that they can't experience real Chinese food. I'm sure, however, this restaurant will do just fine continuing to serve what people here think is Chinese food. If you do order from China Sun - ask if they can cook your dish in a traditional Chinese style (without the sugar). I didn't ask if they would but am betting they could.

In from out of town, was looking for some takeout. The food was fresh and delicious, I had general TSO shrimp, Wonton soup and a couple spring rolls. The young lady behind the counter was very pleasant to deal with she took my order quickly. the order came out within seven minutes, and it was delicious.

This is probably my favorite Chinese place in town.it was great food at a great price the wait was short and the quality was perfect. Employees were incredibly nice. And they have a assortment of things to choose from.

Good quality/value for the price. We like that it is no MSG and a good source of veggies. Our only complaint is that we have ordered before expecting a certain price and the total was notably higher than what we expected from looking at the menu deals. A look at the receipt explained that we were up charged because we asked for substitutions which we understand. All in all, it was worth it and we will be back.

My favorite chinese take-out. We are military and with each PCS we have to find our new favorites for the area. Great food!

Love this place! Great prices (especially on Sundays for lunch) and the food is tasty. I can't get enough of the pork lo mein. Order it spicy, or better yet, extra spicy!

We have used this place for years. We mostly eat on Sundays when they do the $3.99 meals. We usually order sesame chicken, sweet &sour chicken and chicken lo mein. I've also gotten the mongolian beef (but I ask for mild, so it's not to spicy.) Also their egg drop soup is delicious.

Saw this place had good reviews, well they were right. Talk about a hidden gem of a hole in the wall restraunt. Food was outstanding really well seasoned. Will be going back. They have very affordable specials. Family run and extremely friendly.

Great restaurant for Americanized Chinese. Always good food and very friendly service. Serving sizes are generous and each order is cooked fresh. Prices are reasonable too. I go there often.

Delicious crab Rangoon, tough General Tso chicken. Not spicy at all. Generous portion though. Usually there is more rice than entree but not here. Bland egg drop soup. Main complaint is price discrepancy between online menu and at store. The total was a lot more when I got there to pay. I told them they need to update their online menu. She claimed they didn't have a webpage. I brought it up on my phone and showed it to her. Same exact menu as their printed menu. Fire Wok pulls the same stunt. No excuse for old info online.

This has to be one of the top best Chinese places in town. This restaurant always has fresh food. My food is always freshly cooked and hot as soon as I get it. Every order I have had has been ready as soon as I pick it up. The food is extremely delicious and every time I have ordered my food has been extremely delicious. I have had several different favorite foods. My current favorite is the Sweet and Sour Chicken with Crab Rangoon's and Egg Rolls. I also like the Chicken and Broccoli and the Dumplings. The Egg Drop Soup is also really good. Every time I have ordered any of these foods it has been extremely good. Every time I have called to place my ordered the phone as been picked up immediately. The wait is short to none. And the service is again extremely good! They are extremely nice and friendly and every aspect of the restaurant is amazing!

As mentioned in previous reviews, New China Sun is also our go-to for quick Chinese food. The owners are lovely and friendly, food is made quick and to-order, and the price is right. For take-out Chinese, you can't do any better.
