Sad that it's not good as it used to be and charged us for a dish they never brought out. I used to really like this place, but the quality has steadily dropped over the years.
We came here on a Thursday night and it was decently busy. There are actually two menus one with all your Chinese-American classics like sesame chicken and another Chinese menu with classic Taiwanese dishes.
On this visit, we got spicy braised beef appetizer, fried tofu, and the fried chitterlings ( not for everyone). The tofu was never brought out to us and the beef had been reheated by microwave and burned. It was just really kind of sloppily cut as well. The flavor wasn't bad, but I just really can't buy into microwave-burned meat.
We ordered the Taiwanese beef noodles which were nothing special. Kinda one- note and the noodles were your standard dried Shandong La Mian noodles. The broth was especially dark.
For the mains we ordered the salt and pepper calamari and the roasted duck. The calamari was a bit strange. Not your standard garlicky spicy canton dish, but more tempura fried calamari covered with a light sprinkling of green onions, garlic, and ginger. Very bland and the calamari was especially fishy for some reason. The duck was probably the standout of the night. It was sweet and salty and flavorful, but not enough to redeem for the rest of the meal.
Our waitress was really nice, which is why I'm giving them an extra star despite the overcharge and burnt meat!
This meal left me feeling really disappointed.
