"Plenty of fantastic Chinese BBQ spots in Vancouver, but Chinatown BBQ stands out with arguably the best roast pork in the city. It is something we crave often and is always a treat when we get the opportunity to visit." - Michael He

We were traveling in Vancouver and wanted to eat original Chinese BBQ and this restaurant popped up on my Google Search so we decided to give it a try. First of all, the Chinatown in Vancouver is a bit scary so it’s unfortunate that this restaurant is located there. When we went inside, we were welcomed by the host. The restaurant looks like other traditional Chinese restaurants, yet, it’s clean. Looking at the menu and I was a bit confused because my lack of knowledge—I ordered two-meat plate and I want one BBQ pork and one Crispy BBQ pork. Instead of ordering the roasted pork which is the crispy one, I ordered Hong Kong Style BBQ. The server probably knew and without me asking, spent time explaining to me that the BBQ and HK BBQ are very similar just one is sweeter. Then she accommodate and changed our order to what we wanted. The time came that the food arrive and my table went silent since everybody was busy eating. Both of the BBQ pork were tasty and juicy. The duck was also great—full of meat, not too many bones. Even the stir-fried lettuce was perfect to cut down the greasy flavor of the meat. It didn’t take long for us to finish every dish we ordered and pay. The price was reasonable (even on the cheaper side). My old parents are still talking about this BBQ place several weeks after we came back from our trip. Highly recommend (just maybe don’t walk there)

I recently dined at Chinatown Barbecue in Vancouver, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! Our waiter was outstanding, providing detailed explanations of the menu and helping us navigate the delicious options. I ordered the duck and roasted pork, which were served on a bed of fluffy white rice. The roasted pork was a standout; it had a perfectly crispy exterior that added an amazing crunch, while the flavor was simply out of this world. The duck was exceptionally juicy and uniquely flavored, making every bite a delight. My husband tried the soy chicken and barbecue pork, and both dishes were equally delicious. Each plate was a celebration of authentic flavors that left us wanting more. Overall, Chinatown Barbecue offers an unforgettable dining experience with fantastic service and mouthwatering dishes. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!

Me and my family spotted this place while driving through Vancouver’s Chinatown and decided to try it out since we’ve been craving Chinese bbq. IT WAS SO GOOD. Definitely worth a try if you’re visiting. The food was amazing, very fresh and tasty. I recommend the crispy pork and the roasted duck. Besides the food, the service was outstanding. They put us on the waitlist as soon as we got there and we got to order in advance so the food was ready waiting for us for when we got our table. The waiters would check on us very often to make sure we were enjoying our food and we had enough tea which was also very good. Overall, 10/10 experience and I can say that it is the BEST Chinese bbq I’ve ever had. Will definitely be coming back.

Google
A restaurant with a traditional, historic atmosphere. Their Chinese BBQ has a lighter flavor, different from the Chinese BBQ people commonly eat nowadays. The soup of the day and their homemade sauces are very delicious. If you're near Chinatown, this is a good choice.

Friends and I were visiting Vancouver and stumbled into this amazing place. Bobby was our server and knew exactly what to tell us and we ordered exactly what he said, it was spectacular. We were so full for the rest of the day, so definitely come on an empty stomach! We had a couple of beers, but definitely not necessary with the complimentary tea! The duck was fabulous, a bit boney, but spectacular. My favorite was the honey bbq pork. We ordered the chinese broccoli as a green and the crispy pork too. Both hit. If I'm ever in vancouver again, I WILL be making a stop here. Thank you Bobby!

Google
I had an incredible dining experience at Chinatown BBQ in Vancouver's Chinatown! The pork and duck platter was absolutely delicious. The pork was tender and flavorful, with perfectly crispy skin, while the duck was succulent and rich. The portion size was generous, and the presentation was mouth-watering. The staff were friendly and efficient, making sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, with a traditional yet modern touch. It's clear they take pride in their food and service. I highly recommend Chinatown BBQ if you're a fan of authentic, high-quality Chinese barbecue. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Absolutely this is one of the best resteraunt experiences I have had in the area in the last 3 years of living here. Excellent food, service and historical location with part of China towns history in memorabilia on display. Very cool!

I heard the Chinese food scene in Vancouver is poppin, so we decided to check this place out for some Chinese BBQ. We came in at around 12 PM on a Tuesday and it was pretty busy with both dine-in and takeout orders. My husband and I shared a plate - the BBQ pork, soy sauce chicken, roasted pork, and 1/2 salty duck egg over rice. We also had and order of the curry fish balls, which was on special that day. Everything was good. This is a good dish to order if you are just wanted to try all the meats. We weren't that full with what we had. I would say one of these plates would be a little too much for one person, but it's also just not enough for two people. Adding an extra meat would probably have been the perfect amount. We should have also ordered some duck, and then it would have been complete. Overall, it was less oily than those of NYC's Chinatown, so that was a nice perk. In comparison, it is a bit more expensive than NYC, but I didn't really see a whole lot of good options for Chinese BBQ in the area. And unlike NYC, the service here was friendly (and quick). It's a good spot if you're looking for a quick sit down lunch spot.

Yelp
This was such a cute, CLEAN authentic Chinese restaurant. Ordered gailan oyster sauce, the 3 bbq plate over rice and the roast duck over lai fun rice noodles. It was very good. It wasn't LA SGV good but still super delicious and much cleaner than most SGV joints; and the service was fantastic! The free lychee tea was perfect. Never knew I liked lychee tea. The pictures on the wall were so cute of the family. Not sure if it's the real family but a nice touch, and the entire ambiance was so cute. Wish I would have taken more pics but couldn't wait to eat it. Looked too good!

Yelp
Literally who is giving this place such a high rating? U need to get out of the world and eat better bbq, this is not it. We went after a special Chinatown event, they were limiting sitting time to a ridiculously short amount of time, like who would enjoy the food like that, people spent more time eating McDonald than that. The food was so salty( crispy pork was not crispy at all. The staff was rude and decor was the only fun thing of the whole meal. Very disappointing. And this price? Please.....

Yelp
I checked out this Chinese BBQ spot, and it's just a short walk from International Village. The menu is pretty straightforward--on the left side, you've got individual portions with different meat combos, or you can go ala carte from the right side, starting at a quarter size. We went with a mix and ended up really enjoying the soy chicken, which was definitely my favorite. We also tried the duck and some veggies with garlic crisp. The veggies were good, but I think I would've preferred them with oyster sauce instead for a little more flavor. The decor has this old-school charm, kind of like the scenes from the movies my dad used to watch when I was a kid--it's got a nostalgic vibe to it, which I liked. Overall, a solid spot for a casual Chinese BBQ meal

Yelp
This place is HK meat deli heaven. Very popular, lines out the door. We had a group of 7 so they gave us their only round table in the back. Yay. I found it funny that the waitress actually told us that we ordered too much food for our group size. Can't imagine down selling practice. But she was right, even after we cut down our orders, we still had 2 boxes of leftovers. Curry beef brisket with rice was so good, the curry had a kick to it but in a unique way, the HK way. Whole roast duck was huge, perhaps it was a goose? Roast pork was great. Bbq pork was on par.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in Vancouver hands down. We found this place on Yelp and wanted to try it out. We got here on a Friday afternoon around 1pm and place was half full. We got seated right away and looked at the menu. Tons to try so we ordered a little bit of everything. We tried the Three bbq plater, got some roasted pork, and the bbq pork fried rice to share. The food came out pretty quickly and it was delicious. Every bite of the meat was very flavourful. This is a busy spot and the staff here works very hard. The ambiance is very nice inside as well. If you are in the area come by and try this place out

Yelp
Quick service. Inside is a modern bbq shop. Food is excellent - I suggest dining in for the best experience. Get the fattier cut of bbq pork as the leaner one is too lean. The roast pork is so tender with a tender crunchy skin. The gai lan had a delicious garlic sauce over it. We have since ordered takeout roast pork and bbq pork which was just ok. The cuts were not great (a mish mash of sizes and quality). Disappointing actually and not up to par with what I've had in the restaurant. Maybe it was just a bad day or inexperienced person at the counter.

Yelp
Chinatown BBQ in Vancouver is a must-try for anyone craving authentic Chinese BBQ. The perfectly roasted meats, especially the duck and pork, take center stage with their crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat. The menu features a range of traditional dishes, all crafted with great care and attention to detail. The lively yet cozy atmosphere enhances the experience, and the friendly, efficient service adds to the overall enjoyment. I tried the signature Four Treasures Chef's Plate on steamed rice, which included BBQ Pork, Soy Sauce Chicken, Roasted Pork, and 1/2 Salty Duck Egg--each dish was absolutely delicious and satisfying.

Yelp
I had lunch here 9/11/24. An established and highly regarded good eats place in the heart of Chinatown. Beautifully upgraded decor giving a classic Hong Kong eatery look with old school Diner vibes. Had the BBQ Duck and Roast Pork over rice C$17.50 (US$12.88). Tender pork belly with crispy skin and the duck had the essence of all spice, star anise, cloves and sweet soy. Hearty and filling. Locals and Visitors alike are welcomed with a smile.

Yelp
So glad our first choice was not open for lunch otherwise I would not have discovered this great lunch and/or dinner option. Their roast meats like duck and pork are the best I've tasted and I am bias being chinese born in Honk Kong and raised in a traditional chinese environment in Los Angeles chinatown whose grandma was a great cook of authentic dishes and whose father was a chinese chef. I had the Roast Duck and Roast Pork with Rice noodle soup. The roast duck was lean and generous with a great seasoning predominant in the 5 spices. The roast pork skin was very crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The noodle soup was light and seasoned perfectly. A must stop when in Historic Chinatown in Vancouver BC!

Yelp
One of the best Chinese duck/pork BBQ places I've had, and in a very retro-feeling store. Love all the pictures on the wall, outlining the history of Chinese immigrants in Vancouver? Service was EXCEPTIONAL (esp for a Chinese restaurant, at least comparable in California) - the main guy who heads the restaurant (on the Sunday evening we came) is super attentive and sharp. What we got: half duck portion, 2 types of pork BBQ - honey glazed and crispy, BBQ pork fried rice, Gai Lan, Jellyfish - my favorite was the Crispy pork belly followed by the duck, but table favorite seemed to be the honey glazed pork - also got the jellyfish, which was good but could have used a bit more kick! And usually prefer it to be a little smaller slices Would DEFINITELY come back here when visiting Vancouver. It's hard to find a good sitdown specializing in this type of food in California

Yelp
I love a good Chinese-style roast duck and roast pork, so with internet/Yelp search, I came across Chinatown BBQ. No, it's not the safest of areas in Vancouver, but just keep your head up, be aware, and come when it's daylight. I visited on a Thursday for lunch at 11 AM when they open, so the restaurant was still empty. The black and white checkered floors, red chairs, and booth-style seating gave this place a diner-style vibe. I ordered the roasted pork & BBQ duck rice plate (CA$16.50). I enjoyed the roasted pork more, as it was flavorful and juicy with very crispy skin. The duck was just ok, not very meaty, and I've had better. Rice was a generous portion, helping to soak up all the juices from the meats. Service was quick. Clean restaurant and clean bathrooms. They also accept credit cards, which is surprising for a place in Chinatown! Overall Chinatown BBQ was good, and I recommend it if you're not too far from the area.

Yelp
Wow, the food here lived up to expectations, which were high since this place had such good reviews. The BBQ pork was the best I've ever had... and I've had a lot. The roast pork was tasty too, with a tasty super crispy skin. And the chicken was flavorful and tender. They are lacking in vegetable dishes though, they had exactly one that I saw. Place was cute, service was surprisingly good, they seemed very efficient,

Yelp
Really solid Hong Kong Chinese bbq. There was a 30 minute wait at 2pm on a Saturday, but absolutely worth the wait. The staff does a fantastic job at efficiently serving the food and the tables free up fairly quickly. The duck was superb, roasted Chinese pork was tender and flavorful, the crispy pork was tender and the skin was perfectly crispy. If you want bbq goose need two days notice and whole suckling pig need six days notice, I am sure it is amazing. The gai lan with garlic oil was fantastic needed those vegetables to help balance the glutinous amount of meat we devoured. We ordered by the pound, but you can order combos that come with rice. The day we were there a film crew for CBC was filming their location, this place is definitely one of the must stops when in Chinatown.

Anna C.

Yelp
Hipster Chinese BBQ place in Vancouver Chinatown. One of the most authentic and delicious meals we had during our trip to Vancouver. Portions are generous, good for group sharing. Service is excellent, staffs are nice and accommodating to the two kids we have in our group. Highly recommended for Chinese BBQ lovers.

Jeff C.

Yelp
awesome chinese bbq place with very retro decor. The bbq and curry beef brisket are all on point and authentic!

Deb C.

Yelp
Great meal and fast service. Oscar welcomed us in right away and actually asked if we wanted to move to a more comfortable spot with a mini booth. (Ironic because we'd just come from a restaurant where they didn't want to give us one of the empty booths and were going to wedge us into this tiny cramped spot between two other tables, so we left.) Totally met expectations for what I wanted in roast pork and barbecue duck. Ordered gai lan as well. Good clean place, with clean bathrooms too! Oscar also checked on us through the meal which was nice because typically, Chinese restaurants pretty much abandon you. Highly recommend!

Gina N.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had on our trip. We came during a good time when there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. Service was attentive and fantastic. I really loved the old school dinner vibes. The aesthetics was really on point and it was also very clean. Everyone spoke English very well, which isnt always the case in Chinatown. The waiter gave us recommendations since it was our first time and the food came really quick. The lychee black tea that was served was really delicious. We ordered the pork served 3 ways and the bbq duck. Great serving size as we had plenty for our party of 4. Highly recommend and will def be back when we visit Vancouver again!

Yelp
It took me quite a while to get here. I grew up coming to Chinatown all the time. That was before Richmond existed and all of the other little local Chinese influenced neighborhoods such as Victoria & 41st and arguably Fraser & 49th. What they've done here is set up an old school retro restaurant of Chinatown of yester-decade. Quite charming. The food brings back memories, and so does the ambiance. I rarely eat in Chinatown anymore. Back in it's heyday, there were lots of Chinese restaurants and cafes on this stretch of Pender Street. Now there's just a handful. Pay these guys a visit. The food is quite good.

Belle C.

Yelp
Really cool interior, the ambiance makes me think 1930's /1940's Shanghai. Service from both male waiters was top notch, I couldn't even believe I was in a Chinese restaurant. Got the 3 BBQ platter and 1/4 duck ($19) as well as Chinese Broccoli (gai lan) with oyster sauce ($9). - Followed up with a bowl of rice ($3) to enjoy the feast - The standout for me was actually the roast pork: not only was it surprisingly flavorful but the skin was so perfectly crispy. Growing up eating Chinese food in San Francisco, it takes a LOT to impress me when it comes to Chinese food. I can honestly say that this is one of the BEST Roast Pork OF MY LIFE. - Finished with their limited edition dessert: Lychee Pudding. It comes in the form of 2 super cute goldfish and has a generous amount of lychee in it. However, I feel like jello is a better description of this dessert than pudding. I'll be dreaming about roast pork tonight, lol

Tracy L.

Yelp
This is a great spot for traditional Hong Kong bbq! The half roast duck, roast pork (with the crispy skin) and the Honey Glazed BBQ Pork were all excellent. Their fried rice was also very well made. We'll probably stop by for take out of just the meat in the future!

Quang D.

Yelp
Chinese food in Vancouver is next level, and this place just adds onto that list with ease. The food here is fantastic! We ordered the soy sauce chicken, roasted crispy pork, and bbq duck, along with the gai lan and heaping pile of white rice. We ordered family style for 5 and cleaned our plates clean. I want to also take the time to talk about service. The service workers are SO kind, incredibly welcoming, and helpful. They clearly enjoy their work, and seeing them smile and laugh with each other in the kitchen and behind the table makes me happy to see they enjoy serving others. Bobby helped us feel at home almost instantly, and the other workers did so as well. This place is rich in history. It's square at the end of chinatown, and is such a unique mix of a classic chinese style and almost like a western diner. I highly recommend this restaurant for a hearty meal with good company and a good time.

B T.

Yelp
Great service and great roasted duck. It's affordable as well since the CAD is low right now compared to the USD.

Sze T.

Yelp
In my opinion, this is hands down the best Chinese BBQ place in the lower mainland. I grew up in Hong Kong, and Chinatown BBQ's food is outstanding in comparison to most average BBQ place in Hong Kong. My go to are: Signature 3 BBQ Meat platter with BBQ pork, roasted pork and BBQ duck, side order of white rice, and garlic gailan. The skin of the roasted pork is always crispy but the meat is still moist, which is very rare. The restaurant is also clean and the servers are very friendly, unlike other traditional Chinese BBQ place IYKYK ;) so that's definitely an added bonus!

Dan B.

Yelp
My wife and in-laws dined here during a trip a to Vancouver. I ordered the half BBQ duck on rice with scallion-ginger sauce. The duck was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The scallion-ginger sauce was so flavorful and it elevated the entire dish. Bobby was our server and he was on his A-game. He was very attentive, quick, funny, and made the overall experience a good memory for us. I'll happily dine here again.

Halei J.

Yelp
I used to come here for the curry beef brisket, it was very tasty and the price was very good. When I came here last week the price was still the same and the flavor was still good but there was very little brisket, they bulked it up with lots of potato. To me that is unacceptable. Why chintz out on the beef, why not just raise the price like alot of restaurants do if you're trying to make ends meet. I ordered curry beef brisket not curry potato. Anyways, not impressed and probably not gonna be back.......

Thanh L.

Yelp
Came back for the third time with 2 friends on a rainy day at 2pm. Got seated within 5 minutes and the restaurant was quite busy up until we finished. I forgot to post my reviews last time but I got the BBQ meat combo. The soy chicken was great but I must say that the BBQ pork is still my favourite. A staff recognised me from my visits and review last year, and gave us soup on the house. I couldn't believe it because it's been a year. The soup was very yummy and warm, perfect for a rainy day. They were out of duck but we chose to share the $14 portion of the fatty BBQ pork. We also got the $10 side of rice. Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of fatty meat but it was very yummy and the rice really helps to cut the fat. The honey sauce is very nice and the staff graciously brought over a little bowl for us to drizzle over our rice. We were joking about just how much rice was in the bucket they provided because it kept going. It's a good choice if you're sharing because we each must have had 3-4 of the shared small bowls of rice. Needless to say, my friends really enjoyed their time here and one of them said they'd love to bring their family back the next time they come to Chinatown! They said they love the ambiance and decor. Especially when sharing with friends and split, the price is so ideal. I love supporting this business and really do recommend.

Regina V.

Yelp
Such a sweet home style Chinese bbq spot in vancouver. It's awesome how you can order online and just pick up. The sauce is just right and the meat is so tender. The pricing is reasonable. I always order the bbq pork and lechon. The ambience is still old school Chinatown which is nice that they've retained.

Amy W.

Yelp
Great quality and quick, friendly service. I loved the roast pork over rice, lettuce, gailan and daily soup. I would love if they also added fresh soy milk, I think it would pair really well with the Cantonese deli meat menu. This place is totally worthy of the hype and then some. One of the best places to eat in Vancouver Chinatown. The takeout also keeps really well too. Great for leftovers.

Hairy L.

Yelp
Service is excellent and so is the food. The roast pork skin has the right crunch and the fatty part just melt with the meat. The roast duck is okay. The beef brisket curry is not the kind they pour the curry sauce over. They cooked in it. I'd come often if I was not an out of towner.

Kathy C.

Yelp
Delicious! I remember when Chinatown BBQ first opened years back, husband and I happened to be visiting Vancouver. We thought to give this new place a try. We walked in, quickly picked up like 1/2 lb crispy pork and a bbq duck take out to try it at our hotel. We were surprised just at how tasty AND crispy the pork was. It was one of the best we've ever had. Ever since then, even with the crazy amount of excellent eats in this city, Chinatown BBQ has become one of our must-visits every time we are in Vancouver.

Victor L.

Yelp
This is the best BBQ I ever had. The sa-sui is tender and not fatty. The chichen is moist. The roasted pig is crispy, moist and tender at the same time. Fried rice is excellent. Everything is well seasoned. Service is good and efficient. Restaurant sit in is small typical and can be crowded. Definitely will come back next time to try everything else.

Tung D.

Yelp
Much better than expected! All the BBQ items were delicious! The duck was juicy, and the pork belly skin was superrrr crunchy. The chicken was delicious too! with the sauce! The waiters were professional and very polite as well. Only minus thing was they basically only served BBQ meat + rice/noodles, so the menu is a little limited. But hey, you'd better excel at one thing.

Ly L.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with Chinese barbecue here. All the meats are cooked to perfection. Very moist and not dry at all. Especially the poultry. Nice and juicy. It's an older shop, but kept very nice and clean. The staff is very quick and efficient. There was one guy that looked like he ran the entire show, he was greeting guest, taking orders, serving, and checking out customers. He was probably either the owner's son or the manager. He knew exactly what we wanted to order and what was enough for our family. Excellent wait staff. They fulfilled all our request immediately. Everything tasted good only complaint is I wish it was a little bit more flavorful. It needed extra sauce to dip on the side. A little more bland for my taste. Usually I like to dip into the rendering fat from the meat droppings. I had to ask for some soy sauce and chili on the side because they don't have it set out on the table. But everything else was great! We ordered the three meat combination platter. A half a duck and some Chinese broccoli (Gai Lan with Roasted Garlic Crisp Oil). Some of the dishes they do not come with rice so you have to order that separately. However, I recommend instead of white rice to get fried rice. They give you a much bigger portion. They also have complementary tea and water. You just have to ask for the water. The tea was very fragrant. I enjoyed it. Overall would definitely go back. I heard the curry was a favorite dish, but we wanted to try other places.

Kay F.

Yelp
Came by here after the pandemic and although the prices are still the same, the portion sizes are a bit smaller now. The taste I still have to still is just as delicious so would still recommend this restaurant when in the Chinatown area!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Step back into the past, when Chinatown was in its hay day, when patrons were welcomed at the door and escorted to a table by well dressed servers. The aroma of barbecued meats wafting through the door are intoxicating as is the overall experience. Two of ordered the duck and Napa cabbage with chili garlic oil to share and one ordered the two meat barbecue. Everything was delicately flavored and delicious. Service was stellar. You feel like royalty. Prices are extremely reasonable. A great value I'd come back here in a heartbeat.

Rachel F.

Yelp
This restaurant is super busy. We came to check three times and finally got a table. Thanks to Ian, he is very kind and helpful - telling us "if you come right before we open before 11am, that's probably the time when you don't have to wait". Otherwise we guess it takes at least 45 mins to 1 hr to wait to get a table. We ordered BBQ pork and roasted pork, they are both very good. My favorite is the soy sauce chicken and garlic with Chinese broccoli. Daily soup is great too, like the one I had when I was little at home. Yum! Thank you Ian! Will come back because of you:)

Jose Maria C.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant is family oriented.

Faith H.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING, had to wait about 10 mins but worth the wait. Service is quick food comes out fast and hot. Overall ambiance was great, here visiting from So Cal for a week we will be back a few more time I'm sure before we leave. You won't regret coming here!!!! Yummmy

Audrey L.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place!! The ambiance and decor was nice, food tasted amazing, and our server was so friendly. The Cantonese BBQ they do here tastes pretty authentic. I got the four treasures chef's plate based on recommendation from the server. This was super delicious and a nice way to sample several different meats. It came with BBQ pork, soy sauce chicken, roasted pork, and half a salted duck egg. So many of my favorite things lol and I loved how it all tasted. This dish was pretty big, so I had some food leftover. I also really enjoyed the decor in the space! It felt clean and modern, but also kept traditional touches. The next time I'm back in Vancouver I'll definitely be making another visit to Chinatown BBQ!

Nami N.

Yelp
My friend took me to the BBQ place in Chinatown. She ordered two BBQ combo plate and chosen BBQ Pork HK style and Roasted Pork. HK style BBQ Pork is a very crispy skin and yummy. Also roasted pork is a good flavor. I ordered 1lb of the same BBQ to take home. The people at the store were busy but very kind and good service. The atmosphere of the store is also very nice. I will come again!

Yelp
First time having goose meat, and it was fantastic! I was skeptical at first on my way to visit Chinatown BBQ because of the long wait warnings that I saw from the other Yelpers. However, I was so lucky that there was no wait at all when we arrived for lunch during a weekday. My tip to beat the crowd was to go earlier or wayy later than the lunch or dinner times. So we got there around 3pm! I was in love the modern decor inside. It gave me a trendy feeling yet cozy like a small house with home cook meals on my table. Really excited! Originally, we wanted BBQ duck. However, it was all out due to the international shortage. So they offered BBQ goose instead and we were happy to try. It came out amazing! The meat was tender, yet had the right amount of chewiness, with the perfect flavor and seasonings, making a wonderful topping for my steamy hot rice bowl. We also had garlic gai lan and BBQ fried rice. They were both great signature dishes that nicely represented the pride of Chinatown BBQ. Service was fast and professional. Our whole experience was exceptionally great and I could totally understand all the praise and high rating that they had. Would totally love to be back when I'm in town.

Yelp
One of my favourite places to indulge my craving for bbq. Today, though, I'm enjoying a succulent soy chicken. There is no bbq duck except a side dish of wings! The soy chicken is delicious, tender and juicy. A good size portion for $13.00. I'm almost always dining solo here, and am seated immediately, nice. The beef curry is marvellous here, and the side of Gai L'an with roasted garlic crisp oil is heavenly.

Yelp
This is by far the best of the best of Chinese BBQ on this side of the world! Extremely friendly, helpful and kind staff. The ambiance is clean, tidy, certainly a historical place. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Happened across this place as we were walking through Chinatown, decided to give it a try based on decent ratings. Taste 0/1* One of the most bland bbq we've tried, and that goes for all 3 (bbq pork, soy chicken and roasted duck) items, even the sauce that's drizzled over the rice was kind of bland Value 0/1* For $16.50, these were the thinnest slices of bbq pork, and for $24 you get a 1/4 duck here, where as most places you'd be able to get 1/2 duck if not close to it at least Service 0.5/1* Efficient with a slight attitude Cleanliness 0.5/1* Gave a little bit of that icky feeling but overall okay Overall/Revisit 0/1* Many other places with far better taste and/or value Paying for ambiance? 0/-1* No Above and beyond? 0/+1* No

Yelp
The service was amazing. We had a very large party and had never been to a Chinese barbecue restaurant before. Our server was very helpful and made many amazing suggestions. The food was authentic and there were lots of options!

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner in Vancouver's Chinatown. The restaurant was not busy. This place has been around for a while so it has a long history. Got the roast pork and roast duck on rice. It was a good portion of meat. Pretty standard fare. The skin was crispy on the roast pork. The tea was free and the service was quick.

Yelp
When we came in, there was a short wait. I liked the decor- old school with meats hanging in the front. Once we were seated, it took a while for our order to be taken. Our food came out quickly though. We ordered the signature three BBQ meat chef platter, beef brisket curry, and gia lan with oyster sauce. The platter was great! The bbq pork was fatty, the soy sauce chicken was tender, and the roasted pork was crispy. My favorite may be the bbq pork. We ordered the curry as it was award winning. I'm not sure what award though. It was good- tender brisket. The gai lan was to balance out all the meats. Next time I come back, I'll have to try the BBQ duck!

Yelp
Very nice interior and a very friendly and helpful staff. As for the food, pretty good size menu with many offers. I had the roast crispy pork with steamed rice. One could order the small plate or a large plate. I am glad I ordered the small plate. The steamed rice was barely warm and the same went for the pork. I was disappointed that it was just warm. The portion was ok and the presentation was nice. But was it worth the $15.95 I paid for it? no, I should have sent it back, but I really don't like doing that. I was really impressed by all the great reviews. Sorry my review can't be better but I tell it the way it was. Will I be back? no, I doubt it.
