Inside the Newark YMCA, this small counter serves New York–style Chinese staples to downtown office workers and students. Expect lunch specials, rice noodles, and egg foo young. A quirky, community-rooted stop confirmed by its current menu pages.

4.3 Rating Hooww??? I've Never been so dissapointed and dissatisfied with food in a long time! Ordered just over $70 worth of food here. Everything looked beautiful and bright. However, the Sesame chicken, Wings and Water were the only things that tasted good and worth eating. Everything else was so BLAND, no tatse/seasoning at all. The soup base tasted like hot water, they didn't give enough soy sauce to make a difference.

I like spicy foods and this is number 1 choices and the best place to eat in downtown Newark. I come here everyday and the place is very clean and I recommend you to come eat here, I also bring my family here to eat and it so delicious here some photos below…

My first time here. I ordered the shrimp and lobster sauce with white rice lunch combination. it didn’t come with anything but what is pictured. I don’t know what the combination is meant for? The rice was super hot and fresh. The shrimp were extra large and the food was nice, but I found it to be a little bland. Otherwise, I was happy that I had a very hot freshly made lunch. I did find it to be a little pricey. Other places, you would get a soda, egg roll or soup or something as a combination, but not here. But the gentleman taking care of me was very nice. it was a hot day and my complaint was that this place was very warm inside.

Chinatown Diner has the highest quality and most delicious Chinese food in the Newark area at an unbeatable price. Located inside the YMCA building in Newark, Chinatown Diner is my favorite go-to spot for Chinese food. The General Tso Chicken is perfectly juicy and tasty. Alternatively, if you’re feeling adventurous and want some real spice, I would also recommend the Pepper Chicken. Thank you Chinatown Diner for always serving the freshest and tastiest Chinese food in Newark to fulfill my appetite.

Some of the best American Chinese food I've ever had. Me and my partner got seconds because it was so good we needed more than one dish. Highly recommend. Wendy was so sweet and nice, even showed me pictures of food I was curious about, and got to know me and my partner. We will be back :》 Food specific recommendations: 2×Kung Pao chicken Pork fried rice 1×Orange chicken White rice 1×Cheese wonton 2× Homemade sweet tea

Always excellent service. Fair prices. Pictures of all the dishes make it easy to choose.

Yelp
This is a restaurant hidden inside a YMCA. Typically I enjoy going to hole in the wall eateries or places that's hidden from the main street. The main thing that sticks out is that the menu prices are significantly more expensive from other comparable Chinese take outs. Its on par with sit down restaurants level prices. The quality of food is about same as others in the area, maybe cleaner tasting, but spending about $15 for Chinese takeout is not something I would do on a regular basis.

Yelp
We ordered from this place two weeks ago and when we ordered today the prices have changed dramatically (like from $12.95 to $18.95 for chicken and broccoli). The prices on the website as well as on the takeout menu do not match what they were trying to charge me.

Yelp
The girl on the phone was insanely rude. I asked her a pack of dumplings and she said hurry up. I cannot hear you. It was really rude to the fact where she started thinking that I was a prank call and she said she found my address and that she found my everything and that she was going to call the police in my area when all I wanted was a piece of dumplings, sad insanely rude, and has a bad ambience. I could already tell the mood was really really shady. Do not go here again. I bet they have rats inside of their food.

Yelp
I was curious about this Chinese restaurant inside YMCA . First , when I walked in , the guard asked me where I am going . I wonder who live in this ymca ? I asked for Chinese menu hoping to have authentic dish. It ended up the food is in a box and very Americanized

Yelp
Delicious. If you're craving real Mott-Street-like-Chinese-food, this is the place. While they cook up authentic Southern Chinese cuisine, most patrons ordered fried rice and chicken wings! It's hard to find fresh fish dishes outside of Chinatown, but they have several. Its a hidden room inside the YMCA, just past the welcome desk. Not much to look at, but the food is worth the treck. Ask the owners, Bing & Wendy, if they can make something off-menu and, they will probably do it, if it's not too crowded.

Yelp
This restaurant is literally hidden away inside the YMCA! Wouldn't have found it if our Chinese friends didn't introduce it to us. The food is pretty damn good, but the menu with the great food is in Chinese, so if you can read then it's kind of a gamble. We like this one dish, it's pork belly with leeks over rice. The name of the dish is: 蒜苗五花肉. We just show the worker and they know what it is and make it for us! :)) better go and check it out! They also sell snacks and drinks for people who are at the Y and are not eating a meal. :)

Yelp
Definitely filling, Good food. Only thing people might not like is the price. Average lunch special plate is 7-8 dollars. This was 10-11. So if you looking at this place, just know it's more on pricier side. Good food though

Yelp
Had a great dinner here last night! Cute neighborhood place hidden in the YMCA, entrance right off the lobby. There are pretty drawings taped to the walls, definitely feels family-run. Staff were super friendly, and the food was prepared quickly. They even threw in a little bag of corndog appetizers for us! We ordered 2 "American-Chinese" dishes (sweet and sour chicken and general Tso's chicken, both great). They also have a menu with a variety of Chinese dishes you may not find so easily in other places. Prices were good too! Will definitely be adding this into our regular take-out roster. Thank you!

Yelp
This family type Chinese restaurant is very good. The food is delicious especially some spice food, like spice chicken and beef.
