Google
Me and friends come here often for dinner when we get tired of dining hall food, and could you not the food each time has been delicious. The portions are more than generous, and the pricing is spot on. The staff are great to, if you become a regular they will notice:)

Google
the mongolian beef (which is 18$) was terrible. not mongolian beef & was mostly onions, barely any steak, all sauce (which had no flavor) super disappointing. wouldn’t stray from ‘typical chinese take out’ dishes again.

shauna lippe

Google
The Chinese food here is really good. The steak is fire!!! Especially the tempura shrimp. It was sooooo good. The fried rice was a little bland but the price is good for the amount of food they give you. Also I do NOT recommend the crab Rangoons 🤮

Kxo Nyx

Google
The rice got mad soy sauce like some days I can literally taste the flavor more days than others and sometimes I get one option w/1 side & still be charged 18$ so most of the time I just mine as well get the most out it & choose as many options as I can I started to come to the store the lines are long sometimes my longest wait was about 10min and door dash is getting to expensive w/the extra taxes but I mean it's okay with prices & options still other food is flavorful to pick out in there but all in all okay I spent $20 alone 23$ with a drink so double/triple that for a quick date night food spot fairly nice people & community love the diversity it's so amazing

Google
Food is always fresh and cooked perfectly. Tons of flavor and portions are massive for the price! The owner there is extremely pleasant and always makes sure you get what you pay for. Couldn’t recommend enough! Ps(get tons of spicy mayo and china town sauce)

Google
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The last two times I’ve gone both the general tsaos chicken and orange chicken have been so dry they are inedible, you can’t even chew or digest them. Will not be wasting my money here again, for $15/person to throw out half the meal is insanity.

Chencho Wangmo

Google
i love love dirty rice stick, crab rangoon and fried chicken from here. its the absolute best of the best.but they usually seems to forget to send soy sauce and disposable cutlery. i tried calling and customer service calls when i ordered again to send soy sauce and cutlery but it was in vain; couldn’t reach them. i hope i get it next time i order again.

Google
I love this place. The portions are always super generous, the food tastes REAL. Only issue is parking on Thayer is a nightmare, and it's kinda expensive. Like I can go to the buffet for the same price and get more food. But it does taste marginally better than a buffet.

Yelp
I'm not ashamed to admit that I visit ChinaTown on Thayer very frequently. At least once a month! I highly recommend ChinaTown for anyone who's looking for a great and accessible takeout spot. The food is very solid. I'm a huge fan of their boneless spare ribs and crab rangoons. But most importantly, the portion sizes are why I swear by this establishment. Whenever I'm not in the mood to cook, and a need a few meals, I always stop by ChinaTown. It's consistent, delicious, and the people who work there are fantastic as well :)

Yelp
Ordered grub hub on a weekday late in the the night, had a three order selection which came with only one stick of teriyaki that was dry af and inedible. I wish they had just subbed that with someone else or cancelled my order if they didn't have what I wanted. Was disappointing because their food is usually good. The rice was also dry as well as the bourbon ck.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is delicious. I order on DoorDash and when the food gets to me it's still warm.
google avatar

Yelp
The amount of food you get with one plate is well worth the price. The service is always nice, the line moves fairly quickly, and there's a small area for you to sit down and eat. You can never go wrong with Chinatown, I recommend this place to everyone I know! - I always get half and half which is half rice, and half noodles with buffalo chicken, chicken and broccoli and garlic green beans.

Yelp
This is one of the best Chinese food spots in Rhode Island! The food is always so flavorful and service is quick and easy. They usually have a long line due to its popularity but it goes by pretty fast - worth the wait. They are also open late hours which is a plus on the weekends...especially after a fun night out with your friends and after a couple cocktails when you get hungry again! Super convenient and if you don't want typical fast food and more of a hearty meal. The best way to describe this place is Luxury 5 Star Chinese food court vibes. You can order off the menu or pick a 2 or 3 item combo. *Frequent Buyer Tip & Trick* - they will also let you do half rice and half noodles on the combo meal if you want the best of both worlds- highly recommend! Such a hidden gem! They also now serve sushi!

Joe F.

Yelp
wonderful! The food is extraordinarily fresh since there is always a line and the food is continuously being renewed. Everything is well prepared and fresh and extraordinarily flavorful. The portions are enormous and I believe this is a big selling point especially in Rhode Island and in a college atmosphere the staff is very courteous and helpful. Very strongly advise to try it out.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in town!!! The portion size is just amazing. I liked every single thing. The second time I also liked every single thing. The service was very fast, and the atmosphere was good. If you like Chinese takeout, you need to try this place!
google avatar

Yelp
The service is decent here. It does get busy randomly but the wait is no that bad. The food is good here. If you're in the area give Chinatown On Thayer a try.

Yelp
Fast past order on the go, this is my to go spot after a late hang the people are friendly there and they give you so much food.. totally recommend for and after party feel good food

Yelp
Wow! This is what Panda Express wishes it could be. This Americanized Chinese food is so delicious and filling. There was no line when we went and service was fast. They do not skimp on the portions! The serving size is so worth it for the price. The two of us shared a 3 item combo (around $18). We got the Boneless Spare Rib, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, and Chicken Broccoli. These were all so good! They gave so much that the two of us couldn't even finish this. My favorite was probably the Boneless Spare Rib. It was so tender but also had a slight crispy sweet outer layer. I was so happy with how much they gave! I don't think I could regularly eat this because it is quite greasy, but totally so worth coming. I definitely wanna come back again!

Lainey W.

Yelp
The owner is super cool and the food is amazing, what's not to love? They are super popular for a reason, fresh delicious food made in front of you any time of the day and half of the night! My favorites are the boneless spareribs, the bbq chicken and the shrimp. Try the shrimp!
google avatar

Abigail P.

Yelp
Long lines are not always a good sign of good food. I taste the peanut oiled enriched dishes no matter what I get. The lo mein has a film of peanut oil on it. I would say the only thing worth getting here is their shrimp with the special sauce. Thayer needs a new Chinese food spot. People come here because it's cheap with big portions and they can't taste the heavy oils because they're used to them in every other crappy processed food they shove into their bodies.

Suzette P.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill. Maybe since the owner and his family are not the ones there most of the time. The food just doesn't taste as good as it used to. And I feel like there has been a big change in prices. Definitely overpriced now and I will not be returning. I've been disappointed too many times, now. The staff is always friendly and nice and if you end up liking the food you do get a good portion. But I still feel it's overpriced.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time today and it definitely lived up to the hype! Best chinese food i've ever had! I placed an order through doordash and had no issues with the quality. Food arrived quickly and was still hot by the time of delivery! Portion sizes were also very generous and the flavor was unlike anything i've ever had! I would definitely recommend!!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic. Fast, cheap, heaps of food. Come here on an empty stomach and you are guaranteed to get your money's worth and leave satisfied! The ambience is awesome too: Sweet graffiti photo ops, nonstop hip hop & pop music in Spanish and everyone there speaks Spanish. Qué Bueno!
google avatar

Yelp
Great American Chinese spot on Thayer. You come in and all the food choices are right there for you to choose. I decided to try their Bourbon chicken and Boneless spare ribs. Both were very well done. Tasty, not too salty, nice marinated sauce on them. The prices are a bit higher than if you go to a mom and pop Chinese restaurant, but the convenience on Thayer is not bad. Check out the many other choices they have. I'm sure you will find something to please you.

Yelp
I had tried Chinatown once before this time but I didn't have a good memory of what it was like. Whenever I drive past this place it's ALWAYS packed so I was tempted to try it once more. As expected, there was a bit of a line but there was this little boy dancing so the entertainment made time fly. I ordered the rice, general tso chicken, and shrimp with the sauce. Right before checking out, someone asked us if we wanted chicken wings or crab Rangoon and we said chicken wings and he stuffed 3 wings in there free of charge. I think it came out to about $15-$17 which isn't bad for the portion size. The chicken was pretty good. It's sweet and tender (only 2-3 pieces were chewy). The shrimp is lightly battered and juicy and the sauce is almost like a mayo base with either ketchup or sriracha. The chicken wings were REALLY good, very flavorful. It is on Thayer street so parking isn't the greatest; you sometimes get lucky by finding a spot on the main strip or there's always side street options. The staff is kind and they try to make the line go quick. It only took longer because they were waiting on a new batch of lo mein. There's plenty of dinging area in the back and feels pretty secluded which is nice.

Yelp
Food is 10/10 flavorful and made with quality ingredients. What makes this place exceptional is the people working there, the service is always immaculate

Vincent S.

Yelp
Ordered large order New Year's Eve , asked 3 times if everything included in what I picked up , was assured it was . When I went home , no sauces included and missing 2 orders of Beef Teryaki. No working phone number to call . Live 1/2 hour away not going back . Very disappointing

Yelp
Best Chinese food in the state of RI. Big portion great food. The Best customer service in the U.S. Go Chinatown on Thayer.

Yelp
Ray and his staff are so amazing! Amazing sushi! Will forsure be back i got the california roll and Ray made it with so much love i am so grateful!
google avatar

Yelp
The food is awesome, generous serving portions that barely fit in the container. and all food is freshly prepared. Fries rice, wings, teriyaki chicken and bbq chicken was outstanding. Very clean dining area in the back, though most people get takeout. Awesome value, great food

Claire L.

Yelp
I have been on the look out for a go to chinese place as i just moved to the area. The food was stellar. I am a bit of a crab rangoon snoob and they probably have the best ones ever. The portions are also very generous and will leave you with left overs for days which is fabulous considering how good the food is!! The staff is equally amazing. They recommended the shrimp entree (which will be in my rotation and was delicious) and even sent us home with some goodies which made our evening. The line moved quickly and the lay out makes it easy to see all of the options. This is a must eat and i am happy to say my search for a regular chinese spot is over and i will most definitely be back!
google avatar

Jon E.

Yelp
Very tasty, especially the pork spare ribs. They're open late which is great as well. Only issue is how long it took for the order to be ready.
google avatar

Patrick H.

Yelp
My co-workers and I ordered lunch and were disappointed with the quality of the food. The General Tso's chicken had specs of chicken in globs of batter is just one example of several disappointing meals.
google avatar

Lloyd W.

Yelp
Fast effective line. Non stop team. I have not had a complaint. House rice with bourbon chicken and crab rangoon. #winning

Yelp
Why in the world does this place have 4.5 stars? I got a discount on Uber eats and after a long day, decided to get some chinese take out. Never tried this place before but, it used the Uber eats discount promo. Being a new place, we wanted to try stuff. Ordered the sesame chicken rice bowl, kung pao chicken rice bowl, chicken lo mein, egg rolls and the 3 item combo (crab rangoon, sticky wings and boneless spareribs). Can't comment on their crab rangoon because they decided to not give us any and instead, another order of egg rolls. Seriously? My s/o and I have determined this was probably some of the worst chinese food we've had in a long time. People keep mentioning Panda Express...but Panda Express is better!! Everything was so bland. Kung pao chicken is supposed to have a little kick and various veggies. No kick and mostly celery. Boneless spareribs we either a dry chewy or a fatty chewy. We actually threw out the lo mein after a couple bites. (wasn't going to leave a review until I did that. I hate throwing out food) Noodles were dry and the chicken was tiny, dried out slivers. All proteins were just, poor quality. Even the chicken wings. Only exception was the sesame chicken. Didn't try the egg rolls but, s/o said they were alright. Hope so. They gave us four while still charging for the crab rangoon. Yes, they have huge servings. But, what the heck is the point if your food doesn't taste good and ends up in the garbage? We will absolutely not be getting food from them again.

Kayvin L.

Yelp
Been a neighborhood spot on Thayer for awhile now. Portion sizes are great although the prices have been racking up for the past couple years which has been causing me to go less and less. Although the quality of the food will always be top notch compared to a lot of other relative restaurants. Service is always quick and easy if you want to get in get out.

Natalia C.

Yelp
Delicious! There's plenty of options to satisfy any craving when it comes to Chinese food. The plate plus a drink was $20 and it's enough for 2-3 ppl. I got the house fried rice, the bourbon chicken, the fried shrimp, one crab rangoon, and sweet plantain. The service was fast and friendly. The place was clean and spacious. This place sits close to a university so parking might be tricky. Would definitely come back to try other options.

Kay R.

Yelp
Best place ever! Cheap you get lots of food and you also get excellent service. Shoutout to the owner I'll be there again soon thank you for never ending late night treats

Yelp
I love Chinatown On Thayer. It's your typical Chinese American restaurant. I've ordered delivery from them multiple times and their combination meal is great. They are super friendly when you order in person as well. The only thing is they always add sauce to my seafood and I can never add a note to have it removed. I've tried many times to call them and correct it, but no one answers or it's always busy.

Yelp
Food was really good, delivered quickly, and staff was excellent. Chinatown was recommended by a friend as an excellent choice for getting really good Chinese food quickly. Spot on recommendation! Yelp
TLDR: Panda Express on steroids - heavy meal of Chinese food with great customer service. We all love Panda Express - it isn't exactly authentic Chinese food, but the wok-fried food and heavy flavor just make it irresistible. Now imagine Panda Express on steroids, with extra flavor and portions - that's what Chinatown on Thayer is. The owner and staff are extremely nice and passionate and make a variety of food. The most common meal customers get is a box meal - a staple with 2-3 dishes, and the owners always pack it to the brim. maybe even add a couple of extra wings on a good day. I personally love their fried shrimp/calamari with chicken and cho mein whenever I crave a late-night heavy meal. Chinatown is definitely a favorite of mine on Thayer!

Rohan G.

Yelp
Portions are absolutely massive and filling for the price paid it's well worth it. Servers are quick and it's more of a fast food chain than a sit down restaurant. Ambience is nice, can get chaotic but the food is all great.

Yelp
Sick as a dog.. Had a 3 way combination, Sunday night. LO mein, Sesame Chicken, Orange chicken. Made me sick as a dog, 2 way..Hugging the porcelain God and praying with a bucket in hand. It just wasn't me, either.. handed off my leftovers to my daughter, she's out of school today with the same results.
google avatar

Yelp
Me (before eating at Chinatown on Thayer): "all chinese food is the same." Me (after eating at Chinatown on Thayer): "okay... I guess not all chinese food is the same because this is great!) As I waited in line I was handed samples of steak tips and boneless spare ribs, both were delicious. Their staff was friendly and even gave me free chicken wings which were crispy on the outside and meaty and juicy on the inside. I ordered a combination meal, you can choose between veggie lo main or fried rice, then 3 sides. I went with their general tso's chicken, salt and pepper shrimp, and a steak and cheese egg roll. The shrimp was the highlight of the meal, i definitely recommend ordering the shrimp. The prices are a bit more expensive then other places but you get big portions and plenty of taste. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
I placed an order online 2 weeks ago and called literally 30 seconds later to cancel it. Their phone was out of order so they charged me. I tried concontacting them on Facebook and Instagram twice. .The phone is still not working after almost 2 weeks. I won't be back!

Yelp
A local recommended this place to me, and I thought "How different can Chinese fast food be?" But no I was wrong. This place is amazing. In the category of Chinese fast food (distinctly different from sit down restaurants) this is simply the best one I've tried. Food I've tried: (* = my favorite) - I got the 2 item combo ($15). Portion is quite large and packed, my veggie lo mein was practically trying to escape through the sides. - VEGGIE LO MEIN: it was so clean, not oily at all, not salty at all. Paired well with the other sides. - CRAB RANGOON* (4 pieces): I am used to crab rangoon being little bundles of heart attacks, but this one tasted cleaner. The dough was not overly oily, it was nice and crunchy. The filling was delicious! It wasn't the usual cream cheese ball with 1% crab flavor that I expected. There was actual visible chunks of crab in there! Truly the first of its kinds that I have encountered. - BONELESS SPARE RIBS: very tender, not tendon-y at all, good marinade. There was no weird chunks of fat hanging off it, the sauce was not overly sweet. Seasoning was pretty spot on, especially in the saltiness level as well. Atmosphere: - Limited seating, definitely a to go place. The line was very long when I got here, despite the other stores around being pretty empty. - Given how busy everything is, can be a hectic in trying to order. Service: - I got my food quick. - Like any Chinese fast food place, you order on a "conveyer belt" system where they scoop the food into the box as you pick which one you would like. Overall: - The best Chinese fast food I have had. Yes, the price is higher than a typical Chinese fast food restaurant, but considering price for value it is 100% worth it.

John S.

Yelp
The Boneless Spareribs were awesome! The best I ever had across the country! Add it as one of your 2-3 items as part of a Combo meal!

Yelp
Best takeout Chinese in Providence. They do everything well, tasty, fast and affordable. If you use Uber Eats, it should be your go to. They are almost always ahead of schedule. You get everything you're looking for in americanized Chinese food with nothing offensive on the menu. This place does a great job. Again, for me, it's probably a 3star relatively but when it comes to stacking up VS other americanized Chinese food, they are 5 star in that context. I wouldn't order from anywhere else when I want some fried, over sauced take out Chinese food. Always, fast, efficient, affordable, cheap and hits the spot after a few beers.
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Every time I past by Chinatown, there is always a huge line out the door. I finally stopped by on a Friday night and waited almost an hour for my food.... but it was worth it. It's a usual Americanized Chinese take-out spot, with the entrees right in front of you to choose from. However, everything wasn't too greasy! They also pack your plate up to the point where you almost can't close it. Very filling. Dip everything in spicy mayo. So delicious. Service is also really friendly as well. Good for late night eats, not so much for lunch considering it gets super busy.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Think Mall Asian food convenience but much much better quality. They do a great job here to satisfy your craving for Asian food and at a reasonable price and serves super . The food is cooked so much better than typical buffet style places and I ordered a Pad Thai tonight as well and the quality was excellent.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Fast, great service. Food was really good for being late. It was the only place open after 12 am. Will be back for a late night meal. Let's just say after 12 brings in a lot of weird people but the food was delicious and everything was fully loaded. They even gave us free crab ragoons.
google avatar

Ran Z.

Yelp
friendly people, yummy stir-fried chicken broccoli in brown sauce! the steamed rice was great..reminded me of home....I ate the second half of it in my dorm for breakfast, truly a winful moment
google avatar

Theresa R.

Yelp
The food here is fresh and tasty. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are super friendly. The portion sizes are plentiful and can feed for at least two meals. I love that you can have a variety on one plate without having to buy full sized containers of each item a la cart. For my family this works out perfectly because with two plates we can have six different menu items (two orders of 3 entree combo) along with the rice/lo mein. The dumplings are a MUST!
google avatar

Anne W.

Yelp
Probably the best spring roll I e ever had! Absolutely delicious! Huge! Crispy! Best local Chinese I've ever had

Cullen L.

Yelp
nothing like showing up 25 minutes before closing with doors locked and them cleaning Upset mostly due to the fact I've worked these jobs and served till said closing. I don't rush myself to said place just to see them close half hour early
google avatar

Tony Q.

Yelp
Saw this place on Yelp while in town for work so took a drive down Thayer Street. Parking is rather annoying but understandable for the location. Huge line out front of this place. I had done a yelp order so you just go up to the window and show the guy your order. When its ready he motions for you to skip the line and pickup inside. I ordered rice, gen tsao's chicken and the salt pepper shrimp. The portion size was huge, rice and chicken were good. The shrimp was really delicious but I would have preferred it without the dousing of spicy mayo, I thought it rather overwhelmed the flavor and made the shrimp soggy. I'll keep that in mind for next time
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
Delicious food and HUGE PORTIONS! One order of regular lo mein is 2-3 meals. The only problem is it's a long wait and usually even pickups require waiting.
