Where Philly’s Chinatown Community Leaders Go to Eat

"Carol Wong, the owner and director of Chinatown Learning Center, comes to this spot inside Chinatown Square for a satisfying meal with a few of her favorite things: pork fish dumplings, salt and pepper wings, and peanut sesame noodles. She also enjoys Philly Poke, a neighboring food stall, for their salmon sashimi poke bowl with brown rice, edamame, avocado, seaweed, crab, toasted onions, cucumbers, and sesame dressing." - Diana Lu

A shitty dead mall. The Korean place upstairs is sold but I miss the hot chicken place in the back. The vape store is clinging to life in spite of everything and I kinda wish it wouldn't. Vibes are rancid. This place is only good for use as a free indoor public hangout but they've been making that harder and harder.

Google
This is my happy place! If they had Dim Sum this would be my favorite place in the whole world. You can walk from place to place and mix up one of the most interesting meals ever. Japanese Hot Dogs, Halal, Korean Buns, Bhan mi, and much more. Not to forget great beer as well. I wish I could eat here every day.

Went to try out the ice cream tea here and got the Thai tea with a earl gray and vietnamese coffee ice cream swirl. The ice cream was good and made for a great dessert on its own. The Thai tea was a bit more bland, but that might be because I literally just had the ice cream right before getting to there. Good overall but hard to finish right away since it's so much.

I was told this place was great for a social setting and it definitely looked like somewhere that would get rowdy on the weekends. Many of the places here looked super good, especially Khmer Grill. I did not get a chance to try any of the places due to time constraints but everything looked and smelled delicious.

Google
We love this place. We happened upon it after having dinner elsewhere but we'll be back so to chow and drink. What an awesome concept and love the two levels!

Google
Amazing Bao Sampler with one each of duck, scallop, chicken, and pork belly! Dumplings were thin-skinned and packed with flavor. Ask for "P" he's a fabulous bartender and host!

I saw many live and suffering animals being sold for human consumption in markets in Chinatown. I don't like that e seeing made me feel bad and impotent facing the situation.

Google
What an amazing place. There's so much to enjoy here. The food and staff and wonderful, the atmosphere is buzzing with excitement and the karaoke is so much fun. I come here all the time and enjoy Asian fusion cocktails, onigiri and let's not forget the Okonomiyaki fries...Yum! On I'm so hype😅

Yelp
This place has saved me a few times. I'll be in the area and super hungry, and always circle back to this little hot spot of fast casual food. It's always there in case of emergency, and by emergency I mean the restaurant you intended to go to has a ridiculous wait time. That's happened to me quite a few times. I always say 'well we can stop by Chinatown Square'. Of course your experience will vary depending on which vendor you use here, but so far all the food I've had has been solid. Kurry Korner is delicious, the Bao Bar has great drink specials, and you can never go wrong with Halal Guys. There's a dessert place in front that I've never tried, but rest assured you can get ice cream after whatever meal you get. I'm glad this place exists, it's a fun little nook of food in Chinatown.

Yelp
This place used to be great... I remember back when this place first opened. Huge potential. All the stores are run down and closed now, and the chinatown square owners don't care about it.

Yelp
What's better than a hub of fresh Asian Cuisine! Love this food hall. There are a bunch of options for you to enjoy and a club upstairs. The Bao Bar makes great drinks. I suggest you visit this place and make your way down the hall and try each food vendor.

Yelp
Chinatown Square on Race Street between 10th & 11th and takes the place of the old miscellaneous goods store Shanghai Bazaar. I am always amazed at the way Chinatown is changing, growing and evolving. Chinatown Square is a prime example of the newer Chinatown. The space itself is pretty cool. It is long and narrow with vendors on each side of the building. There is a really nice and unique seating area and bathrooms in the back. There are a few open slots downstairs awaiting vendors, but there is still a good array of choices in the meantime. Right now the mall contains the Hallal Guys, a rolled ice cream shop, the Khmer Grill, a Curry type vendor, a Bao Bun place, Philly Poke, a Japanese street food vendor and a Korean Mexican stall. Upstairs one can buy beer and wine and a sit down Korean BBQ restaurant has just opened. Some of the vendors downstairs serve beer, wine and mixed drinks. Some take credit cards. On my visit the common areas were kept very clean. I really hope Chinatown Square will be successful. It is a good addition to the wide variety of food choices Chinatown already has to offer.

Yelp
4 stars for the food hall itself but cannot rate the same for the vendors. I've had the pleasure to try all the vendors out here and had mixed experience (some good/ some not so good) on each of the different genres of food I've tried... The Halal Guys (Middle Eastern)-4 stars, really enjoyed the beef gyro platter from them. Ice NY (Thai rolled ice cream)-4 stars, the cookie spree rolled ice cream was really good. Kurry Korner (All things curry)-3 stars, the curry fish ball was ok, curry tasted a bit weak. Coreanos (Mexican Korean)-3 stars, the double fried chicken tacos was bland, kind of dry but perfectly crispy and the sauce was good with a spicy kick. Philly Poke (Hawaiian)-3 stars, the tuna poke bowl was decent but nothing to brag about. The Bao Bar (Chinese)-2 stars, the roast duck buns had no flavor, the duck itself was dry and hard. Khmer Grill (Cambodian)-2 stars, the beef sticks were well seasoned but was very chewy and hard and the same goes for the chicken gizzard and chicken heart (not so good). Wasn't fond of the pork sausage either. All the staff from each vendor were very nice, friendly, super helpful and accommodating. Can't wait to return again to try more food (and drinks-Teaus is opening soon) whenever I'm in Philly! Fyi, most of the vendors take cash only. :/

Yelp
What a great new addition to Chinatown. This cool modern food court has something for everyone. You can even get Middle Eastern Street food here. I really enjoyed my lunch at Philly Poke but really need to come back to try the goodies at Coreanos a Mexican Korean place. What could be better than Bulgogi Tacos? The double fried chicken also looked good. Kitty Korner also looked interesting. Want to try the Japanese curry pork Katsu. For dessert have to come back on s warmer day to get some of that Thai ice cream roll at I CE NY.

Yelp
Philly's Chinatown makes me wish Pittsburgh had one. This isn't the area you'd expect to see in places like NYC with loads of street vendors selling their wares and trinkets. I like this Square and the newer food court as well. Great meal choices and so much more!

Yelp
A small underground collection of tiny little restaurants offering everything from halal foods to Cambodian sausages to ice cream to curries made of who knows what to Japanese dishes with unpronouceable names. If you are an adventurous foodie, well worth it for you to come and figure out what to order as you wander up and down the short air conditioned hallway. Ask lots of questions. Try a dish from different restaurants if you are with friends, then plop yourselves down in the back where you'll find plenty of cool air, bathrooms and HURRAH electric plugs if you need to charge up your phone after taking 394 food porn shots.

Yelp
Chinatown is obviously a place that is a food lover's paradise, especially with the Reading Terminal Market being within a very close proximity as well. So when I first heard that a food court spot was moving into the location that used to house Shanghai Bazaar(https://www.yelp.com/biz/shanghai-bazaar-philadelphia), my first reaction was wondering why, and having a hard time trying to fathom what they could bring in that wasn't already readily available in the area. But as I learned the owners intention to make the Square a late night eating haven that could eventually be 24/7 on the first floor, and host some eclectic liquor sponsored bars upstairs, my interests were officially piqued. And once the falafel masters behind Halal Guys, and the Thai rolled ice cream purveyors I.CE.NY(review coming later!) were confirmed for the soft opening, I realized the scope of food diversity that they were trying to bring into their hollowed halls. And you best believe that it was making me HUNGRY for a visit! And what a visit it was once I finally made it down before Dave Hong's birthday bash. In addition to the aforementioned halal and rolled ice cream I was able to catch glimpses of delicious poke, tempting bao buns, Mexican Korean fusion, and karaoke upstairs, oh my! But in the end I was swooning for the amazing looking Cambodian skewers of Khmer Grill (Another review coming soon!) that won me over and had me filing over to the roomy table spaces in the back. In the end it was an epic win of an epic meal with ice cream on top! Since it was a visit before a birthday happy hour I didn't imbibe or check out upstairs. But with Bao Bar serving drinks, and Hi Kori pouring tea based cocktails downstairs, and bars sponsored by the likes of Johnny Walker and Chandon Champagne upstairs, it is readily available. Add in even more locations like a full scale Korean restaurant to come, and it gives you plenty to enjoy for many visits to come!

Yelp
Chinatown Square on Race Street between 10th & 11th, is a nice attempt to bring Asian street food malls to Philly. It is a tiny version of these emporiums found on a grand scale in Flushing, NY, Toronto, and other major Chinese population centers. When done right in a large enough space, there are dozens of mini fast food outlets surrounding a central communal dining area where a group effort is required to scout for seats while the rest line up for the desired treats, and bring everything back to the demarked table. They are wildly successful. It remains to be seen if Chinatown Square has the critical mass of enough choices balanced with adequate seating to make it. But, my first visit was fun and tasty, and will bring me back for more when in the mood for snacks reminiscent of all those delights experienced in travels through China, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. There, when the sun goes down, the streets fill with bicycle kitchens setting up curbside cafes to grill the delicacies you select from the table spread in front of you, and served on miniature tables and stools on the sidewalk. Such a kick! The Cambodian sausage and BBQ beef on a stick from Khmer Grill were both greasily excellent. Tart/sweet marinade, just enough firing to cook everything without drying out, and timely delivery into a styro take out container, made for a delicious bite and chew. The other counters serving buns, gyros, Thai ice cream, etc., were all busy with happy folk talking or eyeing their phones. There is even a karaoke bar upstairs. Kudos to the developer who put this together. She is on to something that should be popular and lead to copycats all over Chinatown and the surrounding streets. This is just the beginning.

Yelp
This is the newly food court that has been introduced into Chinatown. This place has a full bar and karaoke room upstairs along with many selections of delicious food. I live relatively close to this place so I'm a regular at some of the places. If anyone is reading this and want to own a store in the food court, there is one spot that is open by passing by regularly. They have Halal Guys, Poke(sushi), Kurry Korner, Bao Bar, Hi Kori, ICE NY Philly, Khmer Grill, Teaus, Dae Bak(Korean restaurant located on the second floor), and Johnnie Walker Lounge(located on second floor which opens at 4PM). If you would like to buy Wine, there is also a Wine store on the second floor as well. I have tasted each spot except Bao Bar, Khmer Grill, Teaus, and Dae Bak. All of the other places... I have reviewed and may be viewed on my profile! The food court is also clean and everyone is so welcoming and it seems like different employees within other stores know everyone in the square which is a great sense of community. Bathrooms are always clean... there are two in the front near the steps and about four to five in the back. Seatings are located in the front but also more in the back. The color and design of the food court is put together very nicely. It has a modern but mellow vibe which makes people feel at home but that is from my experience. The main floor with shops side by side is relatively mellow but as you pass shops it is bright with selections of food which is great to attract customers eyes. There are bars located on the first floor(in the back) and upstairs which is open up late which is good for people who do not get off work early. Prices are relatively near $10 but the food is great and resembles the price. MUST FOLLOW ALL SHOPS ON SOCIAL MEDIA!! They have great promotions that give you discounts. Examples are Kurry Korner, I remember one week it was buy a meal and get their famous Mango smoothie for $1 and ICE NY Philly(ice cream shop) gave out $2 coupons during Chinese New Year. A new shop called Teaus has a promotion that I believe is currently active as they just opened yesterday which is; if you bought something from the square and show the Teaus employee, you get a drink for $1.(caution: might not apply anymore) Highly recommend this food court to friends and families due to the authentic energy within the square and so many options for delicious food. RESTAURANT: HI KORI REVIEW During this review, I am also reviewing Hi Kori which is not a Yelp page but is within the square and is connected to the bar. I got the Pork Belly with rice. The service was overall good and fast, no other comment because I came when there was no one at Hi Kori. My order consisted of rice, vegetables, pork, and yellow radish. Everything tasted amazing! Whatever sauce they put into the rice was what made me want more and what is making me come back to try the other options. Everything on the dish complemented each other. Highly recommend first-timers to try the Pork Belly with Rice which is $10 before taxes before anything else in the menu. (photo will be located below) Highly recommended Hi Kori!!

Yelp
So I have been here quite a few times, ever since the halal guys had that soft opening actually, and im soooooooo grateful. They have a sort of all-in-one place where you can satisfy each taste bud as well as now go upstairs and sing your heart out. Honestly something for everyone; from a trendy rolled ice cream place to khmer food, mexi-korean place, poke, baos, THE HALAL GUYS and now a lounge & karaoke bar upstairs. Love how they have seating in the back as well as up front and outside. If you're short on cash, well there's an ATM. Feel like physically doing something....there's a ping pong table in the back. And its open late and really late on weekends. Glad I waited till later to review it, I cannot wait to see what else blooms of this place.
google avatar

Shifa A.

Yelp
What a great new spot! I love philly and this place is a great new addition to the ever growing list of awesome places to go in philly. There is something for everybody here. I tried the Korean taco place and curry place. Both were good. We had drinks at the bar, the matcha vodka drink is good and a must try. I didn't like that the bathrooms are common and they are real close to dining area.
google avatar

David V.

Yelp
At this point, I believe I am very qualified to review Chinatown Square. I've been here countless times whether it's to grab asian food, Halal Guys, or go into Johnnie Walker Lounge. This is a great place to have a Halal Guys which is my go to place to grab food in the building. Besides that, the collection of food options is pretty good which I only see growing down the road. You can get ramen, different options of bao buns, poke, curry, thai rolled ice cream and some asian fusion options. The Bao Bar also serves cocktails and other alcoholic beverages. There is a karaoke bar/lounge upstairs that is very packed during the weekends. Bottle service is relatively cheap compared to other bars in the area so I recommend to get a table if you have a decently sized group. Beer is reasonably priced as well. There is also a street fighter arcade machine Johnnie Walker Lounge.
google avatar

Jeff Y.

Yelp
This place is offers all kinds of street market food from around Asia in a clean modern cafeteria setting. You can find curries, pokes, sushi, halal food, rolled icream and many others all in one location! Seating is in the back and might get limited depending on when you come visit, but make sure you stop here on your trip through Philly Chinatown.
google avatar

Jeannie S.

Yelp
Best place to grab lunch or a drink for happy hour! They have so many various places to eat, and they're very adorable. Johnny Walker lounge on the second floor is also fabulous to spend some time at on a weekend night! Their food vendors can deliver to your private karaoke room as well. The next best thing about this place is how late they close, which is great if you're looking to grab a quick bite before heading home. I do believe the ice cream shop in the Chinatown Square closes a little earlier than the rest of the places, but that shouldn't be a big deal. You've got a Korean restaurant, little bar that serves amazing cocktails that are unique and also have bao buns, a Khmer joint, poke spot, Halal Guys, rolled ice cream shop, special burger spot, and perhaps more because they are adding another place in their list! I hope this place flourish even more.
google avatar

Camar S.

Yelp
Not as big as I imagined, but there's a nice and cool seating area in the back with flat screen tv's. Music playing in the background, gave a laid back vibe for people escaping the busy city. There was about 5-6 vendors open; some vendor spaces were vacant. I feel like they need more variety. I ate at halal guys for the first time and ordered chicken platter; which was okay. Overall it seems like a relaxing place to eat and hang out. I have heard some days can be very busy and crowded in there. Might be fun with friends.

Paul L.

Yelp
I'm here to write a review specifically for Halal Guys in the food court of Chinatown Square. It was the night of 4/19/2019. Now I've only been to this store a handful of times and each time has been nothing short of a nice experience. The manager with the navy polo typically takes my order and he is great. As I was standing in line, ready to order my food, the employee that was supposed to take my order stares at me as if I was supposed to take his. I ordered a combo platter. He looked high out of his mind and seemed as if he was ready to take a nap. As I made my way down the line, he was mumbling under his breath and I could not understand a word that left his mouth, having to constantly ask him to speak up. He was moving slower than my dead pet snail and took a whole 3 minutes putting my platter into the plastic to-go bag. When I got home, the lid had completely came loose and half my food spilled out into the bag. The cherry on top was a foreign object in my dish that resembled floss/string. I believe the employee's name is Videll.

Yelp
One of my goals is to become more familiar with Chinatown this year, so I started with Chinatown Square this week. Basically, this is sort of a modern food court with a nice-sized handful of restaurants. The space was clean and had a nice, sleek appearance, plus good music pumping in the background! Some of the restaurants had counter tops only and you'd have to take your food to the seating area in the back, while others had bar seating in front and looked to serve alcoholic beverages. I was happy to see one of my favorites, Halal Guys, as well as discover a new favorite in Philly Poké. I also can't wait to check out the new Korean restaurant upstairs, and the Mexican-Korean fusion spot towards the back. I'll be returning ASAP!

Yelp
Ok reasons to go 1. Open late 2. Great choices 3 grazing , some from each spot 4. Really good value 5. All under one roof!! 6. Booze 7. Every place I ate was good to great. 8. Good service. Everyone was really nice at every stand 9. Something for everyone 10. God spoke to me and said it was good. And it was. You should listen to God.
google avatar

Jimmy K.

Yelp
Cool spot, expanded seating and new modern design, but they really need to turn down the trap music..... I'm trying to eat and have conversations, not trying to dance. Will review food spots at their respective Yelp pages.
google avatar

Skyla C.

Yelp
Not the best bao bun around from the bao bar . The only one I like out of all the three that I've ordered I only like the shakin beef one . The price is reasonable for two bao bun each orders . The wait took a little long for it to be ready though . But if you're hungry and don't want a big meal this can definitely be some good snacks.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
This cool new lounge area consists of several restaurants, including Thai rolled icecream, Korean Mexican hybrid, Halal guys, and more. Although it took the place of a culturally rich business, the Bazaar, this spot is pretty cool. I came here to get Halal guys as I'm a fiend for Chicken and Rice. The staff gave me a great portion which was cooked to perfection as usual.
google avatar

Henry F.

Yelp
What's not to like? There's poke, japanese, curry, cambodian, korean and even halal guys!! There's a wide range of options and plenty of places to sit. If you're in chinatown but can't decide where to go/eat, this place should be a go-to.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Chinatown sqaure is the best place to grab bunch, lunch or dinner there because they have create many style of culture of food. They recently just open up a new burger place in there. The burger is the bomb.com it is really good. Everything is well done. All the burger tastes really good. I love the sweet potato fried. I will say this is the best place to come for food and chill with friends.
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
They only take CASH! Only few selections. Not a lot of healthy options. Seating is uncomfortable. Hard wooden seats. Not child friendly from the pointed corners of the tables and stools.
google avatar

Jesa S.

Yelp
I stopped in an made a visit to Hikori Japanese food, bar and grill. I was sitting at the second section of the bar. The guy behind the bar had just walked by me as I sat down. I waited for 5 minutes no service. He was talking to a customer at the bar who was so loud it was annoying. I figured maybe he did not notice me sitting there waiting to order, so I went over to section where he was and asked him if he serviced the other bar. He said "sure you can sit anywhere ", he kept taking and never came over. I immediately knew he had no idea of what customer service was. I left and went over to the Hala Guys place and with 2 minutes got service. It is easy to see how so many restaurants fail most start with bad service.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
After a year of build up, this food hall has a Halal Guys, Thai Ice Cream, Poke, awful curry, average skewers and a Japanese Bao Bar that isn't ready to serve lunch until 2pm. I know this is a soft opening but nothing I tried was worth eating. I literally threw my food away. There will be huge turnover here. The food is either boring or bad and they are all steps away from great cheap food all over Chinatown.
google avatar

Heiang C.

Yelp
I don't really see why this is getting more than 3 stars because all the food there is mediocre. The only thing I would get there is probably the baos because all the food there you could get it cheaper and better at other places.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
I love the idea of this place. International cuisine from around the world in a sleek and modern environment. I can imagine the sitting area can get crowded, but if you shop at the right time you can really enjoy the brick backdrop and wooden tables. Just knowing that people and culture from around the world are here to cook their cuisine and bring food magic to the people feels good to the soul. I am also enjoying the throwback 90s music from the Backstreet Boys to Whitney Houston. I know that at the end of the day it will come to the food here, but putting that aside for a moment this is so much better than a food court of American chain restaurants serving frozen food. I think it's also a great place to come with a group of people or the family because everyone can have their preference and try different types of cuisine at a reasonable price. Already starting to think about what karaoke song I will sing upstairs at Access Karaoke.
google avatar

Victor C.

Yelp
Enter the newest eating venue in Chinatown! It's in its soft-opening phase, but I am already impressed. They completely transformed the old Chinese arts and crafts store (Shanghai Bazaar) into a huge melting pot of FOOD. The entrance is brightly lit, and the decor is modern as well. Very clean space with sufficient seating in the back of the food court. There is one restroom located in the middle of the food court, but there are more in the back, so don't wait in line at the first one! Can't wait until this place is open 24 hours.
google avatar

Vinh D.

Yelp
I was so hype about this place before it finally open . I wanted to love this place but the food here is so safe and boring . 1st it a food hall not a court , the design doesn't make any sense , where are the seats ? How can you have that many food stale and not have seats ?I guess you expect people to stand around and eat . I just don't get it , UPenn food trucks on 34th st is more exciting . Bao , poke , shave ice cream , grill skewers ,how exciting is this when you can walk around Chinatown and get the same options but better . Hala guys is the only thing worth walking into this food hall for .

Emma C.

Yelp
Clean and modern space with lots of non-typical food options. I had the chicken skewers and papaya salad from Khmer Grill, both very flavorful and authentic. I also tried a bowl from Philly Poke, which was good but could have been better if the fish was seasoned more. Can't wait to come back to try the other options!

Jaime L.

Yelp
Food is okay. This is my second time here. Some places only accept cash. Today I ordered from Hi Kori. I got the pork belly rice box plus a fried egg. The order took forever, there was no cusomters but myself and my boyfriend when we ordered. The egg was burnt, the PORK belly was undercook. They offered to remake our order but they ran out of RICE, IT'S 2PM and half their menu is RICE! I also got some drinks from Coreanos. They charged me extra but only by $.50 However, there's a curry spot called Kurry Korner that was really good.
google avatar

Lea R.

Yelp
This place is cool, lots of different choices and a change of pace from the usual Chinatown restaurants/atmosphere. I tried the Mexican/Korean fusion at the end of the first story. It was good had some sort of taco, next time will go for something a little less predictable. All the surrounding places looked amazing. Want to try to the Cambodian place. Definitely worth walking through if you are in the area.

Cullen M.

Yelp
Unassuming and unknown to those passing by. I'd describe this place like a mullet - business in the front and party in the back. A food court on the bottom floor has fast casual takes on American and Asian classics with a low key bar to sit and watch a game. Upstairs is a different world. A hazy night lounge scene features top chart rap and a hookah bar. Private karaoke rooms adorn the walls with a "vape" bar in the back. The only reason this is a 3 star is the lofty drink prices which made it a fiscally irresponsible decision to stick around any longer. A great place to begin your night but a tough place to stay beyond a couple drinks. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Chinatown to check it out.
google avatar

Grace B.

Yelp
I was here last weekend with about 8 other people. No one really enjoyed their food very much. I got the chicken katsu from the Kurry place and it was just ok, at best. It was really cold out that night and therefore also pretty nippy inside. We sat all the way at the back hoping to keep warm but people were still cold, and to top it off, it reeked of bathroom cleaner, since the bathrooms were right on the other side of the wall. (Bathrooms were pretty awful, too.) Would not go back here. The cocktails we ordered were the only redeeming part of any of this. They were delicious. Also enjoyed the Tiger beer I tried there. So all in all, if you're gonna go here, go for cocktails and skip the meal. Two of my friends ordered from the ice cream place at the front and I tried both of theirs -- again, completely meh.

Yelp
This new place in Chinatown offers food that varies depending on your mood. We went here to have karaoke, in the 2nd floor. We paid $50 for an hour. Their rooms are nice and the karaoke is updated. There is also no cover fee for their lounge which is pretty nice. We went on a night that they had a DJ and we really had a good time.

Cymi M.

Yelp
This place is so great! A group of us went yesterday and tried something from each vendor, I can't even decide which was my favorite. The pork belly bao were outstanding. The whole place was very clean and all of the staff we encountered were pleasant. I can't wait to go back!

M L.

Yelp
Most places are overpriced for the amount of food. Poke Bowls are worth the money, and they're actually pretty good. Wished it was a little spicier, but good bang for buck. Khmer Grill - Decent Halal Guys - Ok Philly Poke - Best of the Lot Come here if you've got nothing else to do and time to kill. The place is clean, doesn't stink of the streets, and it's AC'd.

Yelp
The manager is so rude. if you did not buy anything from there, he will kick you out right away.

Yelp
Place is cool to hang out but managers there suck. One of them kicked me and a friend out for having outside food in, when we also bought food from one of the stores in there. We spent about $60 on food and the place was dead quiet. We were peacefully eating and not causing any trouble and we ended up just throwing the food away. He then tried to lecture us about "using the stores utilities" when again, we purchased food from one of the vendors.

Yelp
The manager named David is such a unprofessional person that doesn't know how to conduct a business!! Him along with his bartending accomplishment are the most unprofessional establishment I've ever encountered. I paid $300 for a section (@ 1am ) that I was under the impression that I would be able to occupy until 3am!" After an amazing time dancing to the music of a pretty awesome DJ (mind you, for maybe a half an hour at this point) the manager named David came to me accusing me of calling one of his security guards a Nigger TWO TIMES. First of all Im Puerto Rican/Mexican and would never call ANYONE a NIGGER and anyone that knows me can attest to this . The security guard after the whole insistent said he NEVER HEARD ME CALL HIM A NIGGER. The manager named DAVID is the worst representative of an establishment I've ever encountered. He definitely needs a course in professionalism and conflict resolution. And to be honest the Manager named DAVID completely seemed inebriated. His staff had the whole incident under control; they came to me at 2 am saying it was time to wrap up. I explained to my bottle girl that I was told I would have the section until 3am. That's when the prick named David came in. (the bar maid named May was OUTSTANDING and was willing to go out of her way to accommodate me and my party) He was completely obnoxious from the first initial encounter, calling me a and I quote "BROKE SPIK" and SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS" that I don't have the money to pay my tab to the whole establishment. BUT I literally just paid $300 for ONE bottle of gray goose at the job a HE works at. To be honest I still don't understand why he came out accusing me of calling his staff that and being so rude and arrogant. I wish the manager named David would just meet me (all by my self) in an undisclosed location so we can both settle this like men (I really wish that punk would meet me and try to say all the things he was SCREAMING at me ONE ON ONE) so that I can feel better about my FIRST IMPRESSION of Chinatown Square. Before I even entered the upstairs portion of this establishment I spent a ton of money downstairs ordering food and drinks for my party of EIGHT. I was under the impression that I was going to have a good time at Chinatown Square, and to be honest it really was; UNTIL the manager named DAVID was present. This place is pretty cool but David is a pretentious, sloppy piece of work. Hey David, if you read this why don't you just meet me in a location of your choice so we can discuss this matter. Anytime , anywhere of YOUR choice tough guy. Oh and by the way the lady who worked the Khmar beef on sticks and the guys who worked the avocado & shrimp hot dogs were super curious and professional.

Yelp
This food court is a really nice addition to Chinatown. There's a variety of food, plenty of seating, and they serve alcohol. It's a convenient place to grab a bite to eat before or after a show at one of the several venues nearby. I recommend trying the Kurry Korner stand.

Yelp
I'd honestly probably rate this place at a 3.5 stars because I do want to go back and try some more of the vendors + see what the karaoke/night life aspect of it is like. I had been super excited to try this place! My friends and I all ordered a bunch of food from various vendors and shared. My favorite was my brother's salmon poke bowl -- the ingredients were fresh and tasty. They could have provided a slightly larger portion of the sauce (come in tiny containers). My friend ordered from Kurry Korner, the chicken curry. It was a huge portion and I also liked it (a slightly creamy curry) but I can see other people finding it slightly bland. It was my first time trying a Japanese curry. My other friend ordered from Coreanos (Korean/Mexican fusion and which I was the most excited to try) and tried three different types of tacos (some of which are their most popular): the ground beef, the double fried chicken, and al pastor. The tacos had a lot of meat and it was nice that they let you mix and match since most places don't do that. The Al pastor was my favorite but in general I thought the tacos were kind of bland. I would be curious about trying the types I didn't try though and hear they have a taco tuesday which I would come back for. Lastly, I personally ordered from the bao bar and asked what the cashier liked the most, he recommended the beef. The price was great $5 for 2 but there was barely any meat, and it was again bland. I do want to try the drinks here and try some of the other types of bao buns. Lastly, I wish there were more places to sit. It also happened to be an especially cold day and it was FREEZING inside the food hall. Prices were mixed and happened to be cash only. Again...I would still be back to try some of the other vendors (like the ice-cream!) + whatever is going on upstairs. I hope they'll slowly improve over time!

Yelp
Chinatown square is one of a kind. A huge consecutive food hall, and not to mention their karaoke lounge upstairs! It is definitely chinatown's new hang out spot.... It's a go to place for a good night out with your family, friends, and or children and even the perfect place to catch a quick bite on your lunch break... They have so many different selections from the halal guys, to their one of a kind Bao Bar, which has many selections of different bao buns. Can you say YUMMY?! My personal favorite is I.C.E NY, it is the ORIGINAL Thai rolled ice cream place, including so many different flavors. My personal favorite the mango sticky rice, which is HOMEMADE, I recommend everyone try this! I may warn you, it may be a little wait, but it is worth every minute.. honestly the best Ice cream I've had in a while... Since Chinatown square has opened, I go their every weekend with my family, and order at least one thing from every place, (yes I am that greedy!). This new exquisite food hall has got my food heart. I highly recommend everyone go check it out. You won't be disappointed, I promise!

Yelp
Had an early lunch at Khmer Grill had the three sticks, chicken wings, beef and sausage with the rice and slaw. Huge portions and really good food. Very friendly service. The square itself is small but nice. Very loud the day I was there but then it was early and not many people were at lunch yet. Will try the other stalls next time.
