"Chinese Kitchen Club, operating as a ghost kitchen, offers Chinese-American takeout favorites like dry chili chicken, honey pecan shrimp, pork dan dan noodles, and salt and pepper catfish. Plans to add full dinner service soon." - Clair Lorell

Ewww. Been avoiding this place since blue giant closed. You know it's bad when I'm writing the review while eating. They're attempting to recreate the blue giant menu and missing the mark on every criteria. Kitchen is messy, waiter was smoking a cigarette outside when I pulled up, then came in immediately to get my to go order without washing his hands like a decent food service employee. Crispy beef - lazily sliced pieces of ribeye in a soy glaze. Meh Shrimp fried rice - again, just lazy prep, oily (maybe the oiliest rice I've ever had. Shrimp was ok, but not incorporated into the dish at all Dry chili chicken - again, a strange adaptation of what used to be my favorite dish at blue giant. It's a shame to disgrace the memory of blue giant, and shame on y'all! $90 for three dishes that we didn't care to eat.

I avoid writing reviews on principle but this was the worst meal I've ever had. The cucumbers were so putrid they dissolved when they touched your tongue. The shrimp fried rice made me want to eat dirt to get the taste out my mouth. $50 and I feel physically violated. Don't eat this poison.

This was an absolutely wretched meal. I used to love coming here, and even did so when it first rebranded into Chinese Kitchen Club. However, other reviewers are correct in saying that things have changed. In my review photos, you can see the photos listed on the website versus what I received today. I was really looking forward to eating this meal, since my food delivery from the restaurant had been cancelled each day this week. Finally, I got to order. The food was vile. I had to throw it away. The chicken was overcooked and missing its signature seasoning. The beef was inedible. And the dumplings weren’t there. Instead, I received meat pies with a large piece of chicken in the container. Lastly, those egg rolls were absolutely disgusting. I hate to be a snob, but even if I had low food standards, I couldn’t eat this. Do yourself a favor and go to a regular low end Chinese restaurant, and you’ll get better quality for less. For high quality Chinese, this city has good options that aren’t the Chinese Kitchen Club. Sigh.

This place shouldn't be open. Came in after looking at the menu online trying to get a crab ragoon and a hot and sour soup. Both were unavailable. Then I asked about the potstickers, the one I wanted was unavailable. Finally I ordered a crispy beed. After waiting about 5 minutes the cook came over and said the Crispy Beef was unavailable. At that point I walked out. I get it isn't easy operating a restaurant but this is borderline even serving food at this point.

I know there is a lot of negative reviews on here and I am not going to lie I was not happy with the food or the service when they first opened, but over time I decided to give it a second shot and I was highly surprised at the difference a little trial and error made. This is hands down one of my favorite Chinese places now. I have been a fan of fat boy for some time so as of now my only complaint is deciding if I want Chinese over a fried lobster Poboy!!!

The Dan Dan noodles were gritty/sandy, with the texture of unwashed collard greens. Otherwise, the flavor was similar to blue giant (maybe slightly spicier) but it was hard to get past the gritty texture. The egg rolls were cooked very well. Crispy brown on the outside. However the inside of the egg rolls had a texture of paste, almost similar to wet dog food; no crunch whatsoever. The honey pecan shrimp was good; a bit too sweet for my taste but it was perfectly cooked. My stomach did not feel great the next day, but perhaps that was unrelated. They may get things sorted in the future, but it appears to be a work in progress at the moment.

Was excited to try this place after missing out on trying Blue Giant (I at least have nothing to compare it to). I ordered the egg roll, crispy beef and shrimp fried rice. The eggroll had good flavor but the texture was a little bit off for my taste, almost too mushy but gritty as well. The crispy beef was a little disappointing, not sure if its because it was take-out but it wasn't crispy and the pieces were pretty big/thick so it was a mouthful to chew on. The beef in my opinion was also a little bit of the vinegar/sour side so i would have liked maybe a little bit of sweetness. The shrimp fried rice was good and the shrimp were nice and big. I will definitely be giving this place another try in the future and will order different items.

Yelp
The dry chili chicken, oh my! Perfect heat level, nice thin layer of crunch on the outside and moist chicken inside. Five stars based on that dish alone, plus welcoming service. Portions are VERY generous. The pork dan dan noodles could've fed three people, easily. The "real crab rangoon" were kind of a surprise, which my husband loved: almost like crab soup inside a crispy wrapper. Not really my favorite, but all of them got eaten. Would definitely come back. Service was friendly and welcoming, and there were a bunch of other dishes on the menu I'd love to try. Outdoor seating made it easy for our dog to join us, too.

Yelp
Finally' The day that Blue Giant shut down I was devastated. Blue giant is where I met my husband for the first time so it's riddled with nostalgia and good memories (in addition to good food) However, when I came to find this place took over the location, I was intrigued. To my surprise and delight, THIS IS BLUE GIANT! Even though it's under a different name, they serve the exact same items, literally the menu verbatim, and they taste the same! I always believed the afterlife was at Blue Giant. And now it's at Chinese Kitchen Club! I will die for their dried chili chicken dish and the crispy beef. They also added new items, And they upgraded their dining area! And they finally added takeout! 10/10 best Chinese in the city. Feels good

Yelp
Food tasted pretty good. Asian who went to New Orleans on vacation, finished the lo mein as fast as I could, even asked for a second one togo since it was so good. Service was pretty nice, hope people give this place more of a try

Yelp
Dropped by and grabbed one of their to-go plates during Mardi Gras. Really disappointing compared to their predecessor, Blue Giant. The food was extremely salty and just overall low quality. I took two bites and couldn't finish it- even though I hate wasting food, I had to throw the rest away. Quite honestly, it was barely edible. I loved Blue Giant and I was hoping this place would be just as good since their menu looks very similar, but it was a big miss. Sadly, I won't be back.

Yelp
Unfortunately, there is a reason it's always empty. Really sub par food. Disappointing because we need good restaurants in the neighborhood. I'm not sure how they stay open.

Yelp
Ordered from here for the first time via Uber Eats with priority delivery. I ordered the chili chicken and an egg roll. The chili chicken was slimy, and steamed. The packaging may be to fault as it was packed very tightly in a typical Asian take out container rendering it inedible. The worst part however was the eggroll which was cold as ice, as though it was taken directly from the refrigerator. one side was so soggy with a cold wetness that it disintegrated before I could take it out of the container. My biggest regret is throwing it ALL away before taking pics, but I never post here. I called and voice mail picked up. I left a message for the Manager.

Yelp
Horrible. Chili chicken was extremely dry, like jerky. Menu has barely anything on it. Only one other table, but took a long time to be served. Benefitting by location bringing people who don't know how bad they are in to eat. Skip it.

Yelp
The food when they have it and care about cooking it can be decent but this rarely happens. We continue to try to support this business but I think we're done. Despite being mostly empty all of the time, they are always out of at least 2+ items. The staff seem to absolutely hate each other and it's always so awkward to be in there. Bring back Blue giant. This place had potential but seems too poorly run to support.

Yelp
Everything tastes the same. We got pork potstickers and lamb dumplings and we couldn't tell which was which. Greasy food. There was nobody in the restaurant. The cooks were just sitting down. I actually asked if everyone was high. Got time to lean, you got time to clean is clearly not in their vernacular. Hard pass.
