A Beloved Baltimore Scoop Shop Busts Into D.C. — And More Openings - Eater DC

"NYC-based chain Chip City continues to sprinkle its cult cookies across the region with the debut of a new store in the Village at Shirlington on Friday, March 22. The fast-growing cookie congomlerate, which got its start in Astoria, Queens in 2017, is backed by Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer. Along with a core cookie menu chock full of chocolate or peanut butter, Chip City is also known for its wacky weekly flavor drops that regularly command long lines in Manhattan." - Tierney Plumb

I'm oddly excited about the fact that the neighborhood got a dessert storefront that sticks to cookies. I don't know about you but this is my sweet tooth craving more often than not. Graciously enough the business reached out and invited us to their Grand Opening in Shirlington. It couldn't have been more perfect timing, by the way I've been resisting to buy any type of dessert/sweets. In our box we got: - Chocolate Chip - Confetti - Cookies N' Cream - S'mores ... it's a good thing they didn't give me a box full of these 8/10 -Chocolate Cupcake Cookie - I don't quite remember the name of the one w/the teddy grams. But it tasted like one of those funfetti cakes with a hint of all spice or whatever they have in teddy grahams. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I'll be back for more S'mores + Choc. Chip Cookies very soon.

One of the best cookies I’ve had. They are huge & got some weight to them but they are so soft! I got the cookie butter one with biscoff filling & it was delicious. It was also dairy free which shocked me! Will definitely be back!

Google
First time here and some of the best cookies I've had in awhile. This scratched the itch for warm, large, and delicious cookies. This places blows CrumblCookies out of the water. Large selection with great flavors. The "cookies N' cream" cookie was my favorite out of the six we ordered. Will return

We stopped here for a treat while on vacation. What a disappointment! Maybe it was because we were there later (around 8:30), but our cookie was not only so hard that our spoons wouldn't penetrate it, but we almost chipped a tooth! On a cookie that is so large and thick, I can only assume it was sitting out all day. Even the ice cream was awful. Very icy and flavorless. The only positive I can say is the store was clean.

This is my second time trying Chip City, and the first time, it was phenomenal. I tried the sweet potato cookie with smores, which has to be one of the best cookies I ever tried! I decided to go today to get two, and while placing my order, the staff member said if I got the three-pack, the 3rd one would be half off. I went for it because why not? I grabbed the classic chocolate chip. I asked for two sweet potato cookies and one chocolate chip. As I got home excited to try my craved sweet potato cookie, I was hit with a mouthful of Chocolate chips. All my cookies were chocolate chip. Two had the marshmallow topping but not the sweet potato I looked forward to. This was a bitter, mostly sweet moment because I asked for the sweet potato cookies. I can see how similar they are from the last time I had one, but hopefully, I can get the right cookies next time. This would have been the 5-star reviews

The cookies, ice cream and staff are top tier here! I came in right before closing (I called first) and the team made me and my family feel right at home, along with serving us some of the best cookie and ice cream combos I’ve had in a long while. Highly recommend 😊.

Google
The place is nice and cute, the service was great, the size of the cookie is also great too since you can share it, but the cookie is not that great. It’s not bad, but I expected more for a $5 cookie. Levain cookies are better, but you may like this one if you like cookie dough, it was almost a “cake/brownie” in a cookie, I didn’t really like that much

Google
Super yum! I dropped in to buy one cookie, turns out they sell mini cookies (half the size, thank goodness. Bought a 20 pack for a Brokers Open tomorrow! Spread love and kindness, buy someone a cookie!

Yelp
I'd give them 3 stars but they're really tasty. So NOT order them from delivery services. They're nearly 8 bucks a cookie and the pictures are misleading, making you think you're getting 3 for 8 when it's just 1. Spent $52 for a party delivery and got 10. Insane. But they're tasty and better than Crumbl.

Yelp
For a $5+ cookie, my expectations were high. The cookies were basic and not worth it The thin cookies were extra crunchy, hard to even chew. I got the thin ones because I didn't want to eat too much. I wish I got a warning, unless that's how it usually is. For the thin ones, I ordered sprinkles, smores, and one other flavor. The one cookie I did like was the cookie butter, soft and moist. It didn't stand out like Crumbl, it just tasted like a regular sugar cookie with cookie butter inside. I don't know how to describe it, but Crumbl had a uniqueness to it.

Yelp
Fresh made cookies are my favorite. I will skip a store bought cookie any day. I was hoping to be impressed with my selection of cookies from Chip City. The cookies were pretty big and the flavors were your basic flavors but they do have some specialty cookies. I tried the Italian rainbow cookie, s'mores and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookies were off to me. I didn't get the flavor of the Italian cookie. They were more on the hard side than a soft baked cookie that I was expecting.

Yelp
Cookies are HUGE, soft and delicious! Was at Astrobar and they were out of donuts and we wanted something sweet so we grabbed a few cookies to satisfy of craving. The staff were friendly and engaging and the store was clean.

Yelp
Surprisingly good. Better than crumbl and insomnia imo. My husband, toddler and I shared 3 decently sized/thick cookies. Each with the perfect amount of crunch and chewiness on the inside - not too underdone. Frootie Crunch - 6/10; definitely taste the frooty cereal flavor in each bite, just too sweet for my taste Cookies and cream - 7/10; also on the sweeter side. The cookies and cream flavor was there. Feel like the white chocolate chips are just unnecessary in this cookie since it already has the cream from the cookies and cream. Hot honey cornbread - 9/10; surprisingly my husband and I REALLY enjoyed this cookie. My only personal complaint is the kernels of corn throughout the cookie. The texture of the kernels was not great. Overall, for the price of the cookies, I'd say it's worth it for an every once in a while treat. Downside to those that aren't already familiar with these kind of cookie chains rotating flavors is what kind of flavors are available and how many.

Yelp
Been waiting forever for this spot to finally open! A week late but still on time to try this Cookie spot out. Located in a beautiful area in Arlington, VA which I love. Parking well ain't much unless you're early but there is also a free private parking lot across the street if you don't mind walking. The store was super clean, organized and overall a vibe. Not only from the aromatic bakery smells but also the aesthetic and decor this place has a warm feeling. I couldn't decide which cookie to try so I asked which one was the most requested and it was the S'mores. - This cookie was huge, thick and warm (a girls dream ). Well balanced and not overwhelming, each bite was a feeling of guilty pleasures I swear. The only thing missing was some milk to close the deal. - Each cookie cost $4-5 which to me is fair due to the size and high quality ingredients. Customer Service was amazing and they were extremely patience as I was undecided the first few minutes. I will definitely come back and glad it's not too close to home bc lord knows I don't need to eat this daily or weekly bc I prob would lol.

Yelp
The cookies are delicious! I love the blueberry when they have it, and there's another one that is a Neapolitan with almond that is fantastic! I wasn't thrilled by the chocolate chip. Don't get me wrong it was good, but with all the other unique selections they have, why get something so normal? To be honest, I have never had a bad cookie from there, but some are better than others.

Yelp
I don't know if it's the cookie that I got that seemed undercooked but the cookie was too thick and not as flavorful as I hoped it would be. The thinner cookies were better but I would probably choose crumbl over these when my cookie cravings come in. I enjoyed the cute chip city coloring sheet and crayons they give for the kids though!

Yelp
This is just an "okay" cookie shop, sadly. I was so excited for a cookie shop to open in this shopping center, but the cookie offerings leave much to be desired. There are only like 4, maybe 5 flavors, and they don't have any classics like white macadamia or snickerdoodle. This place will do in a pinch, but their flavor selection could use improvement.

Yelp
Just do yourself a favor and go! The cookies are amazing! Ordered online and my treats were ready in a few minutes. Make sure to check out Cookies and crème and the cookie butter cookie .... And it's vegan!

Yelp
The looks of the store is attracting, they workers seemed confused, the cookies just ok. The cookies are huge and there were many flavors. To me they didn't pack much flavor, each variety tasted like the last. I probably won't be back and I love cookies. Was hoping for another option for plant based cookie

Harrison G.

Yelp
THE BEST COOKIES! There is an amazing amount of variety & such niche flavors of cookies! The inside smells delicious and is so clean and very cool looking. The person working was so kind and welcoming and did a great job taking our team photo inside. Definitely recommend this place for cookies and sweets.

Nat O.

Yelp
The flavor isn't bad on the cookies but they have a very strong bread/cake like texture and slightly taste of flour instead of the actual flavor. They are large but unlike levain the edges aren't crispy and there isn't a chew in the middle I'm glad I tried it, but unless I have a specific taste for those type of cookies, I will not be back

Yelp
Review is for customer service only. We stopped in last night. Ordered four cookies, 3 for my family, one for my mom (hers was going in a different bag). Everyone was super pleasant during the whole exchange. Three cookies were supposed to be in the box, one in a bag. I get home, open the box and there's only TWO cookies! My mom paid for four. Mistakes happen, and that's ok. My mom then calls the store to which she's told "yes I remember you, there were four cookies." To that my mom says- no there were three, two in the box and one in the bag, why in the world would I call you to tell you we only got three cookies when we paid for four, to try to get one free cookie?! Come on! I can tell you exactly what happened. When I said one cookie was going to another house (as we were ordering), it was taken out of the workers hand (from another worker who was helping) before it was placed in the box and not replaced with another cookie. Again, mistakes happen, everyone was talking and two cookies were placed in the box, not three. It's the way the call was handled that was incredibly unprofessional and frankly rude! My mom was honestly just hoping for the lady to take her name and tell her the next time she's in the cookie is on the house, but that's not how the call went instead accusatory and rude. The cookies were delicious but we won't be back.

Yelp
This is a great addition and dangerous addiction to the neighborhood. The cookies are warm and gooey. customer service is just as delightful. It's hard to stay away. Good news is that it takes me 2 days to eat one cookie. I'm looking forward to new flavors.

Yelp
Employees are all so pleasant and so well trained. Great service every time. Cookies are good too.
