Chipotle’s New Drive-Thru Is for Preorders Only | Eater

"The burrito chain, which has been working to recover from foodborne-illness outbreaks in 2015–16, is testing a new “mobile drive-thru pick-up” concept that adds fast-food-style convenience without on-site ordering. Customers must pre-order through the company’s app or website, receive a designated pick-up time, and then collect their food from a dedicated drive-thru lane; orders cannot be placed at the lane itself. The pilot showed up near Columbus, Ohio and is currently available at five locations across Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Massachusetts, with Virginia expected to get a location later in the year. Typically, I love Chipotle and eat regularly at another location. The draw for me are the wholesome, fresh ingredients and the ability to get a bowl my way. Most of my experiences have been good; however, the Easton restaurant was horrible. When I walked in there were about eight to ten people in line, but it took over 30 minutes for a team of three to take care of their orders. The guy in front of me left when the line hadn’t moved for what seemed an eternity. The staff were not adept at all. As I was standing in line, I could see that the available tables were all dirty. I decided to get my bowl to go for this reason. I do not recommend this location.

My family and I went here last week. We didn’t even order. The place was trashed. The floors were filthy and full of debris. Tables dirty. Then we get to the line where a gentleman was trying to order his bowl. The guy making his food was condescending him for not knowing the difference between the beans. He was a foreign man and a simple explanation would have been great for him, but instead he was met with eye rolling and nasty comments. As the guy was making his food, he’s flinging food all over the place and just rudely asking what else the gentleman wanted. This immediately put me off. I work in the restaurant industry and if this behavior was seen at my job, I would instantly discipline whoever was doing it. We waited for the man to get his food and walked out. I told the guy behind the counter that his attitude, the way the food looked from his tantrum over something so small, and the cleanliness of the restaurant were the deciding factors in no way in hell were we giving them our business. Waste of my time, gas, and it’s in Easton of all places? What? Blows my mind. All I wanted was a rice bowl and left hungry. I wish I would have taken pictures because it was bad enough to involve the health department. No food should be mixed together and poorly kept, dried out, and disgusting looking especially where the customers can clearly see what you’re serving them. Do better.

Possibly the worst chipotle experience in history. Placed an online order pick up. Estimated time of pick up was 1240. It is now 130pm. The lunch rush has come and gone. They're excuse us that online order pick up is an hour behind ..so why can't the main line just help with orders? There's a online pick up queue of 12 people waiting. I had a half hour lunch for work and I've she passed that by 35 mins. We all asked that the main line just do our orders, some were as easy as 3 soft tacos but they refused to help the online order crew. Instead the main line folks and cashier are just chilling on their phones. They offered free drinks as apologies... seriously?! All of them sigh at you when you ask for a status update.. ridiculous

I really hate leaving bad reviews but this was the worst Chipotle experience I've ever had. Showed up at 7pm and the place was so so so dirty. I had a feeling that we should just leave but we really wanted Chipotle and that was the last one on our drive home. Next time I will listen to my intuition. Service was terrible. Didn't ask if I wanted my 30 cents change or not. Just didn't give it to me.

Ordered pickup from the chipotle app for noon. A single bowl. I had to wait until 12:30 before my order was handed to me. Bowl wasn't very full either. I don't blame the staff but rather the management staff for their poor scheduling.

The guy serving was nice. The young lady at the register was pleasant… however the entire place smelled like cigarettes & my clothes smelt like it too when I left. I didn’t see a sanitation score posted anywhere, and there were random people walking around & behind the counter. Maybe they were switching shifts .. idk but there was no professionalism at all. My steak looked iffy and the chicken looked dry. A little disappointed in this location compared to others.

Everything was going as usual like any other visit to Chipotle until it came time to hand me my change. The register showed I was to receive 6.90. I was handed a $5, a $1 and a quarter. I stated that I was shorted. The cashier then opened the register and "miraculously" coins flew over the counter. I told her don't worry about it and I walked out. I will not be returning. Not only because of the lack of common courtesy, but because Chipotle has shorted themselves as far as the quality of ingredients post covid-19. I've been a customer with this establishment for 20 years and to tell the truth it was an easy decision.

They really missed the portion in my plate, my bad that I opened the box after coming back to hotel and realized beans and sour cream missing. Pathetic service. Staff was confused while ordering too and a different staff handed over order to me, so not sure where it went wrong.

I placed an order through the app for ASAP pick up. I arrived 15 minutes after the expected time since this location is consistently slow to get orders completed. When I arrived, I walked up to the cash register and waited for someone to acknowledge me to ask for my order. The girl running the cash register was focused on mixing beverages and sweeping to acknowledge I was standing in front of the counter. I stood around for a good couple of minutes waiting. Since the other girl making the food wouldn't acknowledge me either, I went through the line to finally talk to someone. She got another man involved. He asked me for my order and explained to me I can walk up by the register and ask a cashier to hand me my order. He brought my order out. I mentioned to him neither the cashier nor anyone else working at the restaurant would even acknowledge me. He defended the cashier and told me next time I try to get the employee's attention. In my experience, when you try to get someone's attention, they either ignore you as much as they can or get mad at you for it. When you have customers at your location, you always seek them out to engage with them. Asking a customer to go out of their way to get an employee's attention when you're standing in front of them is inexcusable. The cashier wouldn't even make eye contact with me. At qdoba, I never have this issue. Same goes for Piada behind this location. The employees here aren't friendly and look at customers like they resent them.

Staff was so friendly and welcoming! Definitely spread a positive vibe throughout the restaurant. Food was fresh & yummy--felt like my portion size was correct for the cost. The downside of the trip is that the restaurant was dirty! Food on the tables and the floors, trash all over the drink station. Several fountain drinks/lemonades were out. I'd honestly still come back for the food because it definitely tasted fresher and more flavorful than other locations, but maybe I'd take my food to go.

The Chipotle at Easton continues to be horrible. Line was going out the door but they only had one guy working at the front every one else was just standing around ‍ waited at least 15 minutes just to get served our food. With the exception of the kid serving, everyone else should be let go lazy and unprofessional. This was around 2:00pm. 5-31-25

This was one of the best experiences I've had at a chipotle in a while. First thank you to the manager working the line because he's the only one to ever make my bowl perfect! He listened to what I asked for and even made sure before putting it on my bowl. I know that sounds like it took a while but he did it swiftly and with a smile. The whole team was actually amazing all the way to the boh. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but the way we treat people even when they treat us poorly truly can change someone's day or perspective. Thank you for changing my feelings towards the past experiences I've had.

If you want to eat Cigar Chipotle come here... if not AVOID! Chipotle needs to find a new location for this restaurant. It's located next to a cigar shop and it might as well just be a smoke shop with food. The entire restaurant air quality is covered in cigar smoke. I wasn't even in there for a minute and my hair and clothes soaked up the smoke!!!!

Ordered 30 minutes beforehand using the app and when I arrived I had to watch 15 people order in person, received and paid for their food before they even started to make my order. I received my order 20 minutes past the estimated time and when I got home I discovered they gave me the wrong burrito. What is the purpose of the app if it is quicker to order in person?

Find another Chipotle to visit! Unfortunately this location is right next to a tobacco & cigar shop and the restaurant smells like an ashtray. The cigar smoke was incredibly strong. Additionally, my food lacked flavor and the chicken had an unusual taste l. I'm not sure how, but my rice had a cigarette taste and the guacamole was bland. The service was decent but the restaurant itself was incredibly messy. Food participles were everywhere. From the dining area to the tables. Food was all over the place. I wanted to sit inside but it was way too dirty. Avoid this place at all cost. I will not be back.

Won't lie to you - probably the best location in the area. Customer service is amazing. Food is always cooked the right way, portion sizes are great and the staff is very efficient. The weekends are usually the most busy but it's expected in Easton Town Center.

I like Chipotle but this one was completely disorganized. When I got there several people were waiting for certain ingredients that was being cooked. I wanted steak it was ready, but not cut. The line guy had to go and cut it, with attitude. The back cooking area was dirty. The ingredients area had waisted food all over. It appeared to me that they really didn't care. It looked like they could be short staffed, who knows.

This is a nice chipotle and the staff is super sweet. They do a good job making your bowls. The only thing is if you don't like the smell of smoke I wouldn't dine in. They are located next to a cigar shop so you can smell the smoke in the restaurant.

Worst experience ever I'm never coming back. first they had a long line and they weren't even checking out customers to pay and then I got to the front to pay and the chipotle employee was attending to another customer, even though I was in front of the customer, then the chipotle employee almost gave my food to someone else she wasn't even paying attention to me I was just standing there like a fucking idiot for a good five minutes, just staring at her and the place smells terrible worst experience I have ever had a chipotle. and another time I came to chipotle the employees were just standing there talking to each other and they see me then went back to talking to each other I was standing there for a good 10 minutes until someone else came this place is terrible. I do not recommend the service is horrible

If you Love the smell of cigars, unprofessional teenagers, and waiting 30+ minutes for a to go order this is the chipotle for you! The staff was very rude and unhelpful. They will make your order seem like it's ready via app but will have you waiting over 30 minutes past your pickup time. Save yourself a headache and eat literally anywhere else at Easton. Even the McDonald's I has better service

Stopped at this Chipotle location for a quick meal before seeing a Christmas light display. Parking was alright, there is now a parking lot across the "street" so you don't have to do street parking! The line went quickly once I got in and employed seemed friendly and efficient. All of the ingredients were available and I got my puppy sized burrito quickly! However things went downhill quickly once I started eating. My burrito was incredibly salty. I thought it was my tastebuds and I continued eating but after a few bites more I realized that it was in fact the burrito and not me. I realize that mishaps happen. Someone must have accidentally bumped into a salt container and spilled it over all of the ingredients as no recipe would intentionally be this salty. After a little pushback the employees did refund me so no issues there. I'll try this location again and remember my water bottle this time.

Absolutely horrible service! Popped in for a quick bite after a full day of hockey and was extremely let down. Wow. The place was cleanish, still had an extremely sticky situation going on on the floor. Seriously my flop was coming off every time I took a step. But tables were all cleared for no inside eating and the counter looked to wiped down. But the attitudes from the workers, just wow. The eye rolls and short blunt answers or no response was unbelievable. Even at the end of our transaction no recipient was given and when we asked the girl she just looked the other way to completely ignore us. I just wanted to know if my transaction was completed. I personally will not be going back. What a horrible atmosphere.

It seems as though this location can not keep up with its volume of orders. I ordered online and my food was supposed to be ready at 3:20. I arrived on time and had to wait until 3:35 for my order. Those who went through the line received their food while I waited. I ordered online because I was short on time. What is the purpose of online ordering? When I returned to work with my food the order was incorrect.

If you want to get your food on time DON'T ORDER ONLINE. From my experience, if you go in the shop you'll get your food no problem. If you order online get ready to kick your feet up and take in the scenery, because it's not gonna be ready on time, regardless of what time it's supposed to be ready. Why you might ask? Poor staffing? Lack of staff? Poor management? Or the fact that the app lets you choose the soonest possible time regardless of volume of business at the time? Who knows? All of the above probably...

Wow this certainly wasn't the worst experience at Chipotle that I had it certainly was a very interesting one. Let's say from the start Levi was the only person actually interested in helping us as customers. With him and a younger high school kid working the cash register, we'll talk about her later, they left me and the two that I had accompanied me along with five others in line for Levi to Handle by himself. The manager I could tell from jump was in the kitchen cooking, there was a dishwasher, there was one young lady leaving as we were getting there and another young lady floating in the back. The high schooler that I mentioned earlier who worked at the cash register barely even interacted with us or attempted to help assemble the burritos while she handled her conversation with the young lady floating in the back. The countertop looked as if it hadn't been wiped down clean or even maintain slightly in about an hour with caked-on rice and other foods that were just sitting there. Dana, the seventeen-year-old we learned her name later or as it said on the receipt they was a slight attitude is this she was annoyed by the interaction and wanted nothing to do with that however she still handled her business. I later learned she was only 17 years old witch in the state of Ohio with buying a coronavirus although she did ask us for ID she is under the age of consent so I'm assuming not allowed to handle alcohol. We later watched as customers came and gone and slowly but surely someone came in to help from what I'm assuming can only be another store and it was at that point that the whole team decided to come together as a team and work for the two customers that were in line. My question with that is where was that energy when there were eight people in line in one person. I later ask for the manager in attempt to talk to the manager who was visibly busy but they kept sending Dana out to talk to us and we clearly that made it noticeable that we did not want to talk to her we wanted to talk to a manager. Instead of trying to handle it privately the manager asked me to come to the side of the counter and Yale over everyone my dispute. As I stated before this isn't the worst interaction I've ever had in the restaurant it was just the weirdest and even the seats and tables weren't cleaned as we walked in. We later learned that the normal guy who cooks the food was washing dishes but he was only watching this just because he was sick. ServSafe and health codes restrict anyone with flu-like symptoms from working any shift. So the question then becomes why was he still there if he was sick. Able to be around our food if he was sick which is a direct violation of ServSafe and all Health codes. Not to mention the amount of food they did not have to serve like guacamole, lettuce, sour cream Thomas take all things that people love to accommodate on the burrito. Again not the worst interaction but damn sure not the best. I only give it two stars because Levi made it actually worth our time. If Levi had not have been a part of our interaction I would have actually ask for my money back. Thanks Levi you made it worthwhile for the moment

I used to go to Chipotle all the time, before The Troubles. I stopped for awhile, then when I was ready to go back, Sweetie refused to. So it has been a year or two since I had Chipotle. I satisfied my occasional burrito cravings at Moe's or Hot Heads. Yesterday was a fundraising day for the Columbus library- Chipotle donated half your purchase price to CML. This is probably the closest to us (except campus, and no thanks when the kids are there.) So, I ran up here to grab lunch and help out. It is conveniently located near the southeast corner of Easton, near parking lots. Of course, Easton is crazy no matter when you go. Weekends are nuts, but a Wednesday at 130pm still had lots of traffic and pedestrians, and parking was tight. The store is good-sized, and there's a nice patio. Service was great; several people helped at the counter. There was a steady stream, but no real wait. I got Sweetie her usual chicken/rice/mild/cheese burrito, and she liked it. I had steak with brown rice, black beans, corn salsa, guacamole, and some of their new queso with chips. The burrito was smaller than I remember, but I could be wrong. The steak was seasoned and pretty good, a bit tough. The veggies were fresh and tasty, and the whole thing was a nice combination. Held together in the foil, fell apart when I took it off. Oh, well. The chips are thick, tough enough for dipping. The queso, a small, was a tiny portion for the money, and was pasty and just not very good. Not bad; a little pricey for the quality and portions. Not good enough for me to go "man, I missed this!" But, maybe we'll do it again someday.

Bravo to the team in there that handled that crazy rush! Tons of to-go orders and a line out the door and the dude in front of me ordered 10 entrees and 4 kids meals and tried paying part with an app and 6 voucher cards - for some reason it was not working well and it started to get backed up super quick (nothing was working and it took the manager some time to get it fixed). Pretty much everyone behind the counter was doing superb, I felt bad because I know you can only do so much! My only advice would be to get a second register because that was the big bottleneck. Food was delicious and the portions were on point! It looked like the order ahead stuff was behind, so if you do get food from this location, I would order when you walk in!

Talk about world wind speed! I have never went through a line so fast in my life and there is nothing wrong with that, considering I was starving when I came in the door. Today I decided to go to Chipotle for lunch here at Easton Square on a day of shopping and beautiful Christmas lights. I came in line and was greeted and got help it immediately. I ended up getting the bowl of barbacoa, salsas salad and cheese with peppers and onions. It was very delicious without me feeling stuffed. I got in and out of there faster than the speed of sound I swear. The speed didn't compromise the service so this location gets down to business. And as a person who can sometimes become very impatient, it was kind of nice to see. Four stars for good food, clean facilities and great service. Chipotle keep it up! And remember this place is not gluten free!

I love chipotle, this location is convenient for me right by my work. So I order on the app a lot. My most recent visit I had ordered on the app at 13:00 and asked for it to be ready for pick up around 19:00 as that's when me and my girlfriend were off work so we could eat together. So I went in to pick it up and they had completely forgotten about it at 19:12, not a big deal. But the manager feels horrible about it makes it right away puts extra everything in our bowls and handed me coupons to come back and get meals for free. Either way I wasn't upset it doesn't take long and he didn't have to give me any coupons as it was still around 19:00 The food itself was more then delicious as it was packed full he was to wrap everything with extra foil to hold it in.

Go up the street to the one on Morse. This Easton location gets worse everytime I go. The place is often a mess. The staff dont pay attention and often look lost. To top it all off my bowl tastes like a giant bowl of salt. Its horrible. Uneatable. I'm done with Easton chipotle

I have not been to this location since working from home, but i was in the area and stopped in. Customer service was good however the quality of the food was horrible on all levels. Prior to my order being taken i watched them do a couple online orders and when i say how furious i would have been to receive what they dished out, they were not even scooping full size portions in the bowls 1 order had rice that didn't cover the bottom of the bowl, another probably only had 5 pieces of chicken on it if that. My order of course was at least 1 full scoop of topping but the rice was awful and chicken was barely cut up. Def will not be returning to this location!!

This location is tricky because you have to make sure you aren't in here during the rush lunch time. On the plus side, they have a great organic and healthy menu. My favorite meal is the burrito bowl or salad bowl with chicken, cheese, lettuce and salsa... Park in the back. During the summer there is plenty of outdoor seating, but when its cold, rainy or snowy .. the indoor limited seating can be a pain because there is not enough of it...

Sadly enough I'm not from around here, and sadly enough we don't have a chipotle where I live, but if we did I'm sure I would be there everyday! I mean chipotle is soo good that I should look into franchising one to Canada, lol. Anyways it kinda reminds me of subway meets taco bell but they serve burritos that are literally like the size of your face. I always get mine fajita style with the onions and green peppers, I also get corn, lettuce, rice, sour cream, and some hot sauce I forget which one. But they also have pork, beef, or chicken to choose from and if burritos or tacos arn't your thing you can always get a bowl. Check it out you won't be disapointed. I love chipotle and plead come to London, Ontario! Lol.

Unfortunately, I wasn't too pleased with this location. I went in at roughly 1:30 pm on a Tuesday and the place was dead. I understand that a place is slow that time of the week but I still expect to receive the same quality as I would at other times. I ordered a burrito bowl and as I went down the line the associate didn't seem too interested in being there and serving me. I ordered the chicken and before I could switch my mean she scraped dried and hard chicken from the bottom of the container onto my bowl. I try my best not to complain at a restaurant but I ate about two bites and threw the rest of my bowl away, it was very unpleasant to eat.

If you pay cash they will no longer give you change, I was owed $.85 back and they said sorry read the sign, a 3x5 sheet of paper. Didn't tell me so I could of used a cc, the coin shortage is just an excuse. No longer will I give them my business!

What, am I on a diet or is there a food shortage? Half a veggie bowl at the full price. I felt like Oliver Twist always having to ask for me. Sorry if you do not like your job but it should no affect my portion size.

Great food but this is a weak location. Too little seating inside. The smoke from the cigar bar next door leaks inside. When I was there, the young woman taking the order was curt and brusque. Also, the music -- not sure what it was -- was an odd techno music that sounded like a metal stamping plant that played repetitively and in a very grating way. This place needs a strong manager to improve it.

6PM on a Tuesday evening and the store was dirty with trash on the floor and food stuck to the tables. My order was made wrong (they did offer to remake but declined since brown rice and white rice is still rice, just prefer brown), no apology from the cashier or anyone else, my food and other items were put on a filthy and greasy tray that looked like it had been used to make a pizza and then not cleaned. It is unlikely that I will visit this location again.

Came here with my bestie & we both enjoyed our food. Took quite a bit to get through the line but that meant the food being served was fresh and continually being restocked so it was totally worth it- employees were friendly as well!

Workers were nice and place remained clean for how busy this location gets at the mall. I enjoy this location still and will remain a loyal customer. Keep up the good work and keep the chips salty!

Excellent service, very generous with portions. But the strong smell coming from the cigar store next store made it almost impossible to stomach my food. You'd think this wouldn't be a problem in a restaurant establishment. The food area was also noticeably unkept. Not what I'm use to seeing at Chipotle.

I'm giving this location just a star because my husband and I have had a lot of bad experiences here, but today was too much. One of the times that we came in I found a piece of bone on my chicken quesadilla. When they made the burrito for my husband they just put half a spoon of everything. Today the girl that assisted us was really rude, we ask her for extra cheese on the quesadilla and she ignored us. She was in a really bad mood and didn't make any effort to hide it. I use to work in Chipotle and the days can be really stressful, but is not the costumers fault that you hate your job. We won't be coming back to this location, we always end up eating nervously and angry because of the bad service.

True story about the last time I grabbed lunch at this location: 12:21 - arrive at Chipotle, get in line (which is out the door) 12:23 - begin ordering 12:25 - pay 12:26 - out the door In case you're mathematically challenged, that means I was in and out in 5 minutes. And that's the longest I've ever had to wait. That's impressive. AND they're very friendly on the portions.
