Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers

We have been to the other location and enjoyed it very much so thought we'd have the same experience. NOT! The server was not very friendly/attentive. When he first brought over the mushrooms, he sort of tossed them on the table. Between serving orders, they immediately pull out their phones, which is a bit unsanitary because hands are not being washed thereafter. Once they serve you, good luck getting their attention for anything further. We needed to go boxes and my husband had to get up to ask for them because we couldn't get anyone's attention. The portion sizes are vastly different...smaller at this location and my burger was not as tasty. I won't return to this location but definitely recommend the other one in Dallas.

Hard to really enjoy this location. The food is delicious we really love the burgers as well as the fish and chips. Service has gone downhill. We used to be able to order food from the bar and now we were told by a bartender that it’s separate. Which is mildly inconvenient but definitely a reason we initially loved going. Being able to grab a drink and food in the patio area on a nice day was great! Sad you aren’t able to do so anymore.

Went with a big group of friends. So the atmosphere was very nice. Some street music on the side. The food was cooked to perfection. Haven’t had a burger like this in a while. The poppy seed bun was delicious. The fries, my kids loved till the last one. Freshly made. The Cesar salad sauce needs some work but otherwise good. The two milk shakes we had were really worth the price. The service was fast and efficient. Overall. It was a great experience. Some of the ketchup bottles needed refill but maybe that a testimony to how busy they are. Very impressed.

Great restaurant with a lot of great options to eat. Definitely a place where you come with your kiddos and pets. The burger was tasty 8/10. The stuffed jalapenos were a 9/10. The fried pickles 10/10. The chocolate milkshake was way too sweet and I’m used to eating sweets so it was a 5/10. The chocolate cake was a solid 8/10 and my wife said her salad was a 9/10. Overall a good place to visit on a beautiful sunny day.

Came here on a Friday night. The menu is on the wall and it’s walk up and order at the register and they will bring it to your table when it’s ready. We Ordered 2 sandwiches. One with a bun and one as a lettuce wrap. The items were delivered to the table both with buns. I let the server know that one was to be a lettuce wrap. She took it back to the kitchen and brought it back out a minute later with the bun gone and the lettuce on top. Unfortunately it took most of the cheese with it. The napkins were empty so we had to borrow from our table neighbors. The ketchup was also empty and we borrowed that as well. We also got pies and those were really good. The food itself is really good but the service is hit or miss. The atmosphere is always great. This place is at the boardwalk so it’s a lot of fun walking around and enjoying the evening. If you like burgers you could give this place a try but temper your expectations for everything else.

We had an event there with 30 people, 10 of which were high school girls. From start to finish they were super friendly, patient, and the service was amazing. We requested a shortened menu and they went out of their way to customize it which we loved. We got there at 11 am, right when they opened and we were all sat and had food within 20 minutes. All orders were correct and delicious. 10 STARS!!!!

First stop on my husband and I staycation in Frisco was Chips Burgers for lunch. They have a wide variety of food options to choose from. The outside seating area creates a nice atmosphere. We both ordered 1/3lb. burgers. We also tried the cheesesteak eggrolls. Definitely was not a fan of those. They had black beans in them and the sauce drizzled on top was not tasty to me. Overall, the service was top tier. Although they were busy, we received our food within 5-7 minutes. We will definitely try again.

I was watching a movie and got hungry. I came across Broadwalk and found Chip’s Old Fashioned. The place is wonderful. Outdoor seating, bar and what not. The staff is wonderful-top notch. I read a review that their fish and chips is good. However, I did not find it that great. The fish was too over cooked and had no flavor. I could just taste the coating which was very crisp. Overall I loved the place. Had the food been good, they would have gotten a solid 5. I would recommend this place not the fish and chips.

Good old fashioned burgers. Choose your toppings and sides. Pretty straight forward. Quick and friendly service.

I really want to like this place as it's in a great location. I'll start with not being greeted by the order taker. I literally asked her how her day was going. Menu was pretty good and has a variety of items. Burger was ordered medium, yet it was more well than anything. Lacked flavor and was just an overpriced burger and fry. Lots of seating that has indoor and outside area. With a wonderful view.

Chips is always a guarantee. Instead of going for the same burger I usually get, I tried the Rage (burger special), which was awesome (see photo!). Also, the Jalapeño Poppers are five stars. Friendly service, great food.

Atmosphere is fun! There is indoor and outdoor seating. You get to choose your table. Order is done at the front and you are given a table sign with your name on it. The food is brought out as it's done. The food is ok, it's not the best burger I've ever had but it's still better than fast food. I feel like the flavor is lacking on the patty.

Food is ok, it seems it's a good value place to eat but the bill is surprisingly high in the end. To be fair, you do get a decent amount of food for what you pay. They also have one of the best milkshakes around the area. Service is ok, you pay at the register and they deliver your food to your table. There's always someone walking around that can help if you need anything. Ambiance it's rustic but lovely, just a good ol' Texas restaurant

It has been a hot minute since I have visited Chip's but have been several times mostly for lunches. The best part is the patio and boardwalk to pretend we don't live in the concrete jungle with the small lake view. They are a counter service business and they do get busy so you may be in the order line for a bit during lunch rush. They have a very extensive menu with something to please everyone. I have typically always gotten the burgers with different toppings depending on my mood. The fries have always been good and crispy. The food quality has always been consistent and a solid option for lunch.

Relaxed atmosphere, good food and fast service. They have seating both inside and outside with an open bar view. Plenty space for kids too!

Amazing burgers with super generous quantities! Kids meals include burger, fries, and drink for $6.99 - amazing! We ordered a combination of burgers, salads, and appetizers, and enjoyed all of it. Major perk was the little park right next to the restaurant where the kids are run around and play. On a beautiful day, it felt like I was eating on the boardwalk in San Francisco or Seattle.

It was very tasty. I had the one 3rd pound burger on us poppyseed bun. It tasted amazing. The only bad thing is is the fries are sold separately but other than that it was very nice. It was clean. The service was very fast. I was barely even able to finish a game of Block Blast! before my food was brought out I loved it will come back.

The burgers here are so delicious!! Always fresh and made to order. The service is awesome. They really make you feel welcomed. The bar is nice and stocked. 10/10 overall. Great vibe.

Affordable, Delicious, Great Menu! My first visit. This is the kinda place you order with the cashier at the front, then seat yourself and they deliver your food to you. I didn't find the staff here to be very friendly. The cashier did greet us as soon as we walked in the door, but she never smiled and it just didn't feel genuine. She waited patiently as we placed our order, then said "thanks" as she handed me a table number after I paid. It took a minute to find a booth that was acceptable, as most were dirty. The overall ambiance is casual, chill and relaxed. Surprisingly, our food arrived shorty after we sat down. Everything looked great, but the fries were cold. I went back to the grill to ask for some fresh fries. Overall, the food was very delicious. I had the Portobello Mushroom Burger and it really hit the spot. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. I took off one star because of the dirty tables and unfriendly staff. Other than that, the food is definitely the star here. Recommended!

I love coming to this location. The managers always take care of my mushroom allergy and provide top quality food and service. They have great televisions but the ambiance can be loud. The patio is a great place to people watch on the boardwalk. This is part of the original Chip's at Lover's Lane and the Tollway. Classic burgers. My father-in-law always ordered the fish here and he said it was the best fried fish he had ever eaten.

Visited last Sunday - the nicest day in weeks. They were super busy. We chose to sit at the bar. I am updating my review solely based on the poor quality of the hoagie roll they put my chili dog on and the nachos. The thing was hard, stale, and completely inedible. They also forgot the jalapeños on our nachos. On the subject of the nachos, avoid the ribeye option as it was grissly. I'd also prefer if the sour cream & guacamole did not come on the side. Our bartender was awesome, and the milkshake was as well. They just need more consistency on busy days.

I enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Everything that I have tried (salads, burger, baked potatoe and sweet potato fries were all delicious with nice sized portions!) I am personally addicted to the Southwest Chicken sandwich- jalapeno cheese toast...love it! I also have to give a Hugh shout out to Jack's! He always makes us feel welcome and makes great recommendations. We look forward to his smile and warm personally

We got the 1/2 lb burger and added cheddar cheese, onion strings and bbq sauce. All burgers come with lettuce , tomato , and pickles. They charge extra for everything else. You can also pick your own bun. The burger was ok nothing to brag about. Just wish the order taker would have asked us which bun we wanted As we don't care for poppyseed. And btw they don't have regular onion rings. Disappointing as well. Probably won't go back Since there are so many other options.

Nice place tucked in with a few other places to eat. You order at counter (of course you get the tip shakedown) then they bring it to your table. My 1/2 pound burger was yum.... served hot and cooked perfectly. We shared sweet potato fries and onion strings and they were stone cold. I never understand why management allows this. For me it ruins the entire meal. Anyways a bit pricey for what it was. They had a full batcarea and lots of tvs for watching a game.

I walked right past this place without noticing it. They have a crazy rule that they can't open the doors if it's over 90 degrees so when I walked by I didn't know they were open. This restaurant is located at the boardwalk granite park in Plano. I visited after 8p on a Saturday. You have to order your food at the counter then pick a table. I liked the pub feel of the place. It was quite busy, but the menu selection satisfied our whole group. From pizza to burgers to quesadillas and tequila. They have a great menu selection! The service was also pretty good. A taller guy in a black t-shirt and red mask brought me chairs and took care of us outside. (He actually made my experience so much better!) A lot of the seats were broken at their outside tables so they had to bring us chairs from the inside. Now to the food!!! The kids burger and my 1/3 burger looked to be the same burger. So the quality of my patty was not great and it was dry. I did like my poppy seed bun. My loaded cheese fries were so awesome!! Ranch was good too! Kids meal only came with 2 quesadillas and that was less than I was expecting. Overall I would recommend you go sit by the water and eat here. We also got a surprise firework show which was cool!! There is also an area where kids can play ping pong but you need to go to a restaurant called union bear and you leave your ID and they will swap you for paddle and balls until you bring it back. Overall 3 stars because the burger was dry, seats were broken outside and the wait was long. Go check this place out and let me know what you think!!

First time here, the food was good and served very quickly as well as professionally. The service was great and quick to answer any questions. The ambiance was very nice and relaxed. The hamburgers were very good and flavorful. The only thing I was not pleased with was how the macaroni for my daughter was reheated and served as it was not made as fresh as it could have been. The chocolate malt was delicious. I would come back again for lunch.

This was a very solid burger place. Loved that the burgers were really customizable from the buns to the cheese. Great fried shoe strings and the nacho app was great. Service was quick and kind. We sat at the bar and the atmosphere was lovely with the outside air and fountain behind us.

We were not to be denied. Came here on Sunday, St. Paddy's Day and the line was out the door from the cash register. So we went to the Union Bear next door. It's now Wed and came back on the gorgeous spring day to enjoy our hamburgers no line at all. Outside patio area is perfect for spring day. Warm and sunny and good fellowship with friends and family. We had the chili dog which was excellent but the hoagie was huge making it too much bread. We also had the fried chicken sandwich which was huge but it lacked flavor. The fries were just frozen fries but the onion strings were really good. Fried pickles were really good. Not overly breaded. The most annoying part of the experience was when you pay when you order the register automatically added $11 tip when we lowered a little. The server only brings you your food once and you do not see them again. You get everything else yourself. We thought that was a bit much

My milestone birthday weekend was kicked off by some amazing bar service! Matt was superb & refreshingly funny!!! Go check him out & leave a tip, thank me later!

This place was a suggestion and I'm glad I took it! Chip's old fashioned have awesome tasty burgers. The burgers can be made any way you want. Pick your burger, pick your bun, and add all your extras. You can be as creative as possible! The options are endless. The sides are like the burger options, be as simple or creative as you want. May I suggest the fried shoestring onions and fried egg. A scrumptious crispy, fried addition to an excellent burger.

Our fries were not cooked, burger was decent. The beer was not cold. My mixed drink had too much alcohol Customer service was good though, and the ambiance was nice.

Bar service was phenomenal! Matt took great care of me and got my beverages out quick when i told him that I was on a time crunch. Check out their weekly burger specials they are always phenomenal. Great vibes and great service are always appreciated. Will be back!

Can't really go wrong with a pretty good burger. I went in with my dad, both our first time visiting. I ordered a Cheeseburger with lettuce, onion rings, and mayo on a puppy seed bun. He ordered his version of a hangover burger. We also ordered some onion rings and fries to sweeten the deal. The onion rings and fries needed some more seasoning. Not bad but a little bland. The burgers were good, cooked well and had plenty of toppings. Overall, not a bad place to grab a quick bite to eat.

Was in the mood for a old fashion burger, searched a few we had already been too that didn't really meet our expectations. Decided to try Chips out and was not disappointed. Burger was very tasty and the beef had a good flavor. Will definitely be back! Also got the onion string/sweet potatoes and it didn't disappoint!

Imagine showing up with smiles on your faces and being greeted at 3pm with a bartender who clearly hates her job?! Not fun. We didn't even stick around to order- her attitude was just so off putting- my kids literally asked to leave because she was so unfriendly and not welcoming. It's 3pm on a Wednesday- what is your issue?!

Chips burgers are always good! We had it delivered by door dash and the food was just as good as if we had eaten there!

They missed the mark big time !!!! After 30 plus years and three locations and probably dozens of delicious juicy burgers, they had a bad day! Oops,or lets hope it was a glitch. I ordered medium rare got medium ordered bacon got none The fries weren't crisp onion strings were off Need I say more Huge Disappointment

Nice location. We waited in line at the front for maybe 7 minutes before someone popped up to help the people in line in front of us- He wasn't very friendly towards us and didn't really have any recommendations, but alas we ordered and sat down- he seemed pretty bored wit my us. Dang. He had a lot of to say to the people in front of us- no worries. Cool. My nephew said the kids burger was pretty plain, which I get- but he wasn't impressed. My niece liked her chicken tenders just fine. My burger was ok. I know it's pretty casual but man years ago when I friend tried chips it was the most amazing burger I'd ever had- this time- meh. They gave me a sesame seed bun which was not my fave but that was my fault for not giving my preference- he didn't ask either. It was not a match with the burger. Bloop.

Food - 4 Service - 4 Value - 3 Solid 4 stars, but sometimes the wait can be a while! The best value by far is ordering their Burger of the Day (or is it week?) -- otherwise I feel like they really nickel-and-dime you. Burger and fries (or tots) came out cooked just right each time I've been here.

I don't know how this place has good reviews my husband took one bite of his burger & said it was awful. I looked at it and it looked like school cafeteria burgers... or the ones you buy from 'ballpark' brand frozen & pattied in a box at the grocery store. I ordered fish & chips and it had a thick cheap chicken strip style breading that was disappointing enough but when I bit in to it I quickly spit it out. It was soft, mushy & it tasted so odd & off I am not even sure what kind of fish it was...& could not find this Info on the menu. The fried mushrooms had multiple other fried items mixed in that shouldn't be. My kids didn't like their food either. Spent well over 100 bucks & could not even eat. I actually feel sick from the tiny amount I consumed.

Very good burger and onion strings. Plus Santa gets a free cookie. Service was great thanks you for the meal.

When this place opened it was fantastic. The staff made you feel like it was your home away from home. It's got progressively worse and in disrepair. There are plenty of better places within a mile for beers and burgers. The mens bathroom doesn't have a lock and hasn't for over a year. The bar top outside is sticky because it needs to be refurbished but don't worry it won't be open because when temp outside is over 90 it won't be ope. The new manager treats the staff awful, it was the ONE thing that made this place special was the people Also there is a 4% credit card tax. Trust me go to village, hoppdoddy the new LSA or wahlburger. You'll thank me later.

First meal in Dallas and it did not disappoint. The burger of the week was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Service was great and the staff were friendly. A little too hot to eat in the outdoor area, but the inside felt great and was enjoyable.

5-2-2022 Last time I ate here was before covid, finally made it back, masks are not required at this time. We enjoyed a late lunch on a Monday, it was not too crowded on this day. Ordered the Turkey burger which was juicy and I had sweet potato fries with side of ranch. Which by the way the ranch is very good. My son had the cheeseburger added chili and a side of tater tots. Both burgers were just as delicious as I remembered. There was one cashier on this day, but since it wasn't busy it worked out. There is a notice by the register informing of the service charge due to consistent rising food costs. $1 for tickets up to $20 and $2 for tickets that exceed $20. Full bar inside, plenty of tables and booths and a huge patio. We ate inside on this day. It may be awhile but I would definitely go back.

Stopped in here with hubby after a morning of shopping. Neither of us had eaten, but we're in the mood for burgers! They weren't busy and we were greeted by a bubbly waitress! We're offered a large booth that would have comfortably seated 6 to 8 folks. We both had the 1/3 burger. Any bigger and we would have had wasted leftovers since burgers generally get soggy if left to sit for long. We started our meal with the best fried green tomatoes! We requested that they be cooked a little longer to brown them up! Highly recommend you start a meal with these! You get 8 of them! The burgers are simple. You can dress them up with alacarte items such as red onions, mushrooms, jalapeños etc. Each added item is 25 to 50 cents per add on. Personally, I don't think the burger needs anything extra. Maybe a piece of cheese and that's it. Burger comes with lots off lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and sliced white onions. Again, any additional items are a waste of money! We shared half an order of fries. I promise you that's plenty enough for two people! Looking forward to a return visit! 8/2020

Ordered steak fingers to go. They took forever to get my order out and when it did come they dropped it at the end of the bar, knowing I was sitting at the other side waiting. Opened my to go box and the steak fingers looked gross. Kind of looked like fried turds. Anybody can slap flour on skirt steak and fry it. No breading whatsoever so what little flour did stick fell off as soon you picked it up. It was dry and not good. Definitely not worth $14. Probably wouldn't come back. You pay for the atmosphere and location, not the good service or great food.DQ has way better steak fingers. And make sure If you do decide to order this, get extra gravy. They gave me 1 little tiny cup with mashed potatoes and steak fingers.

Delicious burgers and some of the best fried pickles and fried mushrooms anywhere. Yum! Our son enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak with tots.

Thought this place was super mediocre. Came with my family and fam friends one night during the superbowl sunday and it was pretty dead. The menu had a lit of options and the employee at the register was really helpful. We ordered alot of food and everything came out on a timely manner. Only my food came out wrong so they had to remake it which took another 5 to 10 ish minutes. I was pretty disappointed with the food tho. Burger was super mediocre just something you could find at a backyard grill party. The poppy seed bun that's supposed to be super popular was meh- Nothing special to me at all. I got a chippy burger with everything on it plus swiss cheese and mushrooms. It sounds good but really just nothing special. Also we got some fries thinking they would be to share since the price was $$ but there was barely a handful and not good at all. I even got the most expensive one for 7 bucks ( some special one that had garlic and parsley I think on it) and it was super soggy, not flavorful, and had nothing special about it. The lady said it was her favorite so I thought itd be good.. super bummer. The only thing good here was the sweet potato fries that I took some from my sister but that was it.

A very decent place that serves very reasonably priced food in the neighborhood that is dotted with restaurants that can be considered a bit upmarket. While it is an "Old Fashioned Burger" place they do serve salads, sandwiches, etc. The food has flavors and is served hot and fresh. They do have a good bar with a decent selection of draft beer. The service is prompt and the staff is friendly and warm. The only issue is that unless you are ordering your food at the bar you cannot order your beer/alcoholic drink where you place your order for food.

Went to try this place and ordered a Philly cheesesteak. The sandwich was a pretty good size and I could have been full only eating half. It comes with a lot of onions and bell peppers which was nice. Overall, the mean was decent quality for the price and I would want to come back to try their burger.

Manager with beard on Monday 10/14 around noon was totally rude! Said he was too busy. I guess that means he can be rude because he was busy!
