Just a picnic point rather then a historical context filled material. They charge one thousand rupees as a entry fees in case somebody wants to visit the history carrying stuffs in side the fort. This fort is a decent location for those who visit Chitral very first time. No facilities and staff is also rude.

Chitral Fort, one of the most famous landmarks in Chitral, needs serious attention and care. It's located by the bank of the Chitral River, but most of it is closed because there’s a risk of collapse. I visited the fort on 18-04-2025 and i was told that the royal family still lives there.

Although it's small fort but contains rich historical records. Still in use by Mehtar of Chitral for holding formal meetings and official dinners.

Chitral fort is built near the bank of Chitral river. One of the famous landmark in chitral. As i visited this fort i came to know that the royal family is still living there. This place needs to be highlighted and taking care of. Because the building inside was seen damaged. The view of the river is breath taking and i am amazed to see they chose the best possible place in chitral to built thiz fort.

The fort is quite big and is located next to the Shahi Masjid, overlooking the river. However only the grounds of the fort (exterior) are open for viewing as the Fort is currently being occupied the Prince of Chitral and his family, therefore individuals are not allowed to enter the building itself but can enjoy in its gardens and architecture from the outside.

It's a beautiful fort, but quite neglected. This structure can become the biggest tourist attraction of the city and area but unfortunately haven't been preserved well. I'd suggest handing it over to serena or Pc to turn it into a hotel, for at least they'll preserve it. My suggestion might seem lunatic but this structure deserves to be praised and preserved well. The front gate was closed, so i had to go from the back side, and thanks to Chacha Sher Ali, who allowed me to visit this place. While I was leaving, I was forced by my photographic urge to take a picture of chachu and Wallah he's so photogenic. To cut short, Chitral Fort should be restored to up to its full grandeur and royalty.

Chitral fort is an important landmark of this city. The fort is situated on the bank of the Kabul River. The fort is still in possession of the royal family of Chitral and head is called Mehtar or chief. The fort is unique in architecture and heritage. The current Mehtar Fateh-ul-Mulk Ali Nasir is a well versed and vigilant personality and used to write pieces on history. The public can visit only on friday to sunday. However on request some portions of the fort can be visited. People are very friendly. And the place is a must to visit.
