Chix on the Beach

After reading tons of reviews about this restaurant, I decided to stop in for dinner and I wasn't disappointed!! The atmosphere was laid back. The service was above and beyond. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. Highly recommend the steak bites on the appetizers. The hush puppies were some of the best. I understand why their burgers are rated the best at the beach. Highly recommend this restaurant to EVERYONE, you won't be disappointed!!

We really enjoyed your yummy seafood dishes, and homemade Keylime pie. 😋 We rated your establishment 5-Stars because of your restaurants spirit of Holiday cheer! And, just in time for "National acts of kindness Day- A day to spread positivity with the nostalgia of small-town charm. Great service from our waitress with a friendly smile, and yummy food. We were walking the block and decided to try it out for dinner without looking at reviews, menu or knowing anything about the place and what a great place we chose. It was a Friday night and insanely loud which was the people just all wanting to talk as loudly as possible over other people drinks flowing happily. We were seated in a booth far away but the noise level was still up there. The waitstaff here seems absolutely top notch. Especially for younger people to have the work ethic and service provided is getting rarer and rarer to find. Well done to the owners you can tell they train them right and pay them well. Drinks and food ordered swiftly, brought in timely manner and checked on at what I perceived as perfectly timed intervals. A very pleasant dining experience and the food was excellent and what I would describe as reasonable for a popular tourist spot on the water. My salad was top 5 best salads I’ve ever had. Great combo of goat cheese, almonds, dates, apples, cucumbers and carrots with arugula and spring mix and a really well made dressing and grilled plump shrimp. Fresh and flavorful. Husband enjoyed his burger and fries. Great drink menu variety and beers. Will definitely be dreaming of that salad and when I can visit to eat it again. All the meals around us smelled amazing.

First timers, we went Saturday for lunch. We got a seat right away. Was greeted immediately. Services was quick and staff was so friendly. Appetizers were amazing! And so was the main course. I did try one of the crushes it was amazing. When we come back we will definitely come again.

The food quality was great, the amount for my plate with the shrimp, scallop and crab meat at the bottom could have had more. And the alcohol drink was very weak like there was no alcohol in it. But the view was nice while we had lunch.

We always go to Chix when we are in VA Beach. We went on a Saturday night and it was extremely busy. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Of course, we got our Crushes. We tried the Hushpuppies as an appetizer and the crab cake sandwiches and chicken tacos. Food was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. There was a band playing outside in the gazebo.

Enjoyed the dinner. Everyone was very friendly in the restaurant. I first called another well known Oceanfront area restaurant but the hostess was couldn’t care less whether we came or not. Chix was very welcoming on the phone. Our server Robbie was very attentive. The quality of the food and drinks were excellent. The valet service is always great. As a local resident we are want a great experience and recommend this restaurant!

Oceanfront dining. Food is always outstanding!!! Bar has a great party atmosphere, dining rooms are quiet and peaceful. Great bands right outside in the summer. All the door taste so fresh!!

excellent. I had Just Seafood- 3 huge scallops, 4 grilled shrimp, crabmeat- sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning. mashed potatoes, stir fried vegetables( green beans, onions, zucchini squash). it was wonderful! my husband had fried mozarella sticks- huge with sauce. He also had a tossed salad with ranch and grilled chicken. got the smaller size salad- plenty! Our waitress was on the ball and friendly. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Oh. and I need to mention- myJust Seafood was 50% off on Wednesday! we were concerned about parking but it being off season we parked right in the small parking lot in front! definitely want to go back! Waterman's grill is a sister restaurant and has many of the same meal choices!

Crab cake was ok, seemed kinda bland Chicken sandwich was ok, not a lot of flavor Crab dip & pita was excellent, very fresh and flavorful! Fries were excellent! Outside seating was awesome, boardwalk sites are always a hit! Kelsey was a great server, very attentive!

In town for a staycation, I hopped in the elevator and asked a couple where they were heading for dinner. Their answer? CHIX! Checked the menu and boom--here I am. We were seated right away, and Rachel was our server. She was super polite, gave excellent suggestions, and stayed attentive throughout our meal. To start, we had the She Crab Soup, Blackened Steak Bites, and Hushpuppies--all 10/10. The soup was rich and flavorful with an abundance of crab. The steak bites were cooked perfectly, and that signature sauce? It needs to be bottled and sold! The hushpuppies were spot on, especially with the butter. YUM. For the entrée, we ordered the Ultimate Just Seafood platter: jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, lump crab meat, and lobster tail all dredged in Old Bay and butter. Absolutely phenomenal--so good! With the generous portion, it was perfect for sharing, especially alongside our sides of mashed potatoes and a garden salad. Their peppercorn dressing is a must-try, foodies. All in all, CHIX was a fantastic choice--delicious, cost-effective, and filling. Highly recommend. Bon appétit!

Overall an okay experience. The staff was helpful and the location nice, I just wish the burger I ordered was better. The patty was overcooked after I asked for medium, the fries were soggy shoestrings.

Honestly, this crab dip is just mid. It's not bad, but it's definitely not good enough to justify the price. The flavor is pretty flat and nothing really stands out. Not fresh crab lol. For what you're paying, it's honestly underwhelming and not worth ordering again.

Located on the boardwalk, Chix is a cute all American so food spot. They have an area that borders the boardwalk so you can look out as you eat, a bar area and more of an indoor seating area. The food overall wasn't too bad and the prices were reasonable. I got the fish sandwich and it was ok. The breading was thin and barely held together once I started eating it. Taste wise, it was not bad with the tartar sauce but without was pretty bland. My friend got Mac and cheese for her son and heads up, it's Kraft that has been up charged. Our server however killed it! She was so attentive and despite being very busy she didn't skip a beat and even took a second to talk to my friend who was engaging in conversation with her!

Such a wonderful spot on the boardwalk. We waited less than 20 minutes for a spot on a Wednesday night. 20 min is nothing with a live band and the ocean in front of you! Our server, Grace, was incredible. She was kind, hilarious and personable. Sit in their patio if you can! The ocean breeze and open setting helps with the music and sound coming from inside. Inside was a bit of a maze and extremely loud. The lump crab cakes & just seafood were both delicious. We had to add salt & pepper to the veggies but the mashed potatoes were so dang good. The kids cheese burger was $8.99 and a huge portion. Orange crush drinks are their thing and absolutely refreshing!

A nice dive bar type place on the strip- but actually quite large inside. We were lucky to be seated beach side and had a great view of the ocean. Service was friendly but slow, not surprising based on how busy they were. The calamari I had was one of the best versions I've had in a while. Well seasoned and fried, with a nice spicy dipping sauce and even fried banana peppers. I really enjoyed the food there.

Very very good wings! And nachos, perfectly distributed across the chips so no chip was unloved (maybe only a few) the waiters were very nice and the ambiance was calm. Felt like I was inside a warm hug. To end it off had a delicious brownie sundae, everything was perfect except the brownie was slightly crumbly. Would definitely come back here

Expect your run-of-the-mill boardwalk beach food; flavorless, greasy, burnt to a crisp. We got the nachos, hush puppies and split a shrimp bag. The shrimp was rubbery and overcooked. The presentation was abysmal; looked like cafeteria food. This place draws a specific vacationing crowd; those stopping in off the Oceanfront. The only perk was the valet. Otherwise, I would never return.

Chix is always a classic go to in Virginia Beach! It's always packed, but they always seem to find a table for you! I got the shrimp tacos with sweet potato fries this time, and they were absolutely delicious! I washed it down with an orange crush Which is a must drink while you are there. The staff is friendly and the views are great looking out over the water, put it on your list to go to in Virginia Beach!

Last night the bartender allowed us to get a cocktail even though we missed last call! Thanks so much. And earlier on in the afternoon the server asked to assist us with taking our photo outside. Awesome staff! Thank you!

This is what a board walk seafood restaurant should be. Casual and lively with great quality seafood. The crab especially was really good! We (party of 2) stopped by for dinner and although it was busy we were seated in 15 minutes. We ordered a couple Crush cocktails, fried calamari, crab dip, just seafood entree, and pork belly tacos. Everything was great but what really stood out to us was the crab dip. Restaurant was well staffed and very quick with service.

Good food and drinks! You also get to keep the souvenir cups that your drinks come in. The prices are not bad either. Especially for an oceanfront restaurant with a view. Service was really good even though it was very busy.

We went on a rainy weeknight so it wasn't as busy in the back area as it was in the bar area. This was fine as we had our kiddo with us, and we were there to eat not drink drink. We ordered a she-crab soup for the table since we kept seeing it and wasn't exactly sure what it was. And we all loved it! The SIL ordered a bowl for herself. Then 3 of us shared a shrimp and crab feast and ended up ordering a second bag/order. It was delicious eats... The service was kind and friendly, as well as attentive. The ambiance was chill. We could see the beach, and I know on a sunny beautiful day, especially in the summer time this spot gets crackin'! (Haha, get it?) All right. Well, all in all, nice restaurant, friendly service, clean bathrooms and spaces, and good food.

Chix has a great ambiance, the view of the boardwalk and oceanfront is beautiful all year long (anywhere you sit) and the crowd there is always friendly and fun, as well as the attentive service. The food is really good, I have had the calamari many times, stuffed jalapeño peppers, peel and eat shrimp, burger sliders, chicken sandwich, Greek salad.....and of course orange crushes. Sometimes there's live music in the gazebo where they have plenty of outdoor seating. I definitely recommend.

It's been awhile since my husband and I have been to Chix, sadly it wasn't as good as the last time we were there. The "Crushes" were rather bland compared to our previous experience and the valet parking is annoying ( my car was soaked from the valet's rain coat). Our previous visits we rode our bikes but due to weather we had to drive, so we weren't expecting to have to use valet to grab a drink and a bite for lunch. The surf and turf tacos were really good but the flavorless drinks and valet parking left us a bit dissapointed.

The food was great! The service was great. Our waitress was on top of our drinks and making sure all was well. We love that it is right on the boardwalk!!!! Very convenient when staying at a hotel on Atlantic Ave. Now the bad.... I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because they automatically added gratuity. I have no problem tipping, especially when the service is good. I even tipped our waitress even though the gratuity was already taken out. I get it can be tough, but to automatically take it out is ridiculous. It seems like when places like this automatically take your money to tip, the service lacks. Granted ours didn't and like I said we tipped more. But to automatically take it, is borderline theft in my eyes. I base my 4 stars on the food and service this trip but I will not return.

My family was looking for a seafood boil so we came here. Although their seafood bag isn't quite the seafood boil we were expecting (in terms of seasoning), we were not disappointed given how fresh the seafood tasted. The bar seemed to be backed up and was slow with our drinks, but other than that my family had a good meal.

Recommend the crab dip, crab cake sandwich, and creamsicle crush for a hot sunny beach day! Great ambiance, service, and food. We came in from out of town and found the valet to be a huge advantage too! The valet guys were respectful and incredibly nice too! Can't wait to come visit again!

The atmosphere was nice. Food was ok nothing super stand out or special though. Drinks were tasty. Service was slow and chaotic. Server seemed overwhelmed with so many people to help.

Came here on a cloudy day due to "Erin" hurricane, because the family wanted some boiled seafood and this place DID NOT disappoint! We sat on the covered patio which has a nice beach ambient and our server was always quick and responsive on our needs. Amazing service by all. Food wise, we got the snow crab legs boiled and they were so good that barely the shells survived. We also ordered a grilled seafood combo with lobster tail, so good that we didn't even take a picture and just started digging right away. Very good spot, approved and recommended

Food was good. Service was on time. We had a large group and they accommodated us very quickly. View of the beach and ocean was wonderful. Perfect end to a great trip! First time ever eating she crab soup and it was very good! Burger was ok but that's what I get for ordering beef at a seafood place! Hahahahah!

Amazing !!!! Orange Crush was delicious and I can't wait to go back for some more! I got the grilled chicken sandwich with buffalo mozzarella and balsamic glaze very tasty! The others in my group ordered the surf and turf tacos they looked amazing . Several got a variation of nachos and they too looked yummy !

Great ambiance, got to sit where ever I wanted. Chose the patio seat with open garage windows so it was like I was still sitting at the beach

Celebrated my daughters 18th birthday here tonight. Great staff and amazing food. We will be returning

Good food, strong drinks, excellent service and a great view of the ocean. Stopped by on a Monday early evening in March and the place was busy-ish for the off season. Seated right away by the hostess on the heated patio overlooking the water. Perfect view! Server was great and made sure we had what we needed and checked up on us. Enjoyed the happy hour specials both food and drink wise. Orange Crush was nice and strong and the hubs enjoyed his bud light. Food we got the Happy Hour wings and the 1/2 of a pound shrimp deal. Both were a great portion and nicely cooked. The wing flavor was the flavor of the week and it was a nice sauce. Other menu items looked great and will be back to try more of their food!

Red Bull watermelon crush is unique and refreshing!! The CRAB DIP IS AMAZING!! you are offered peta bread and chips!!! Megan is wonderful!!

Great bar vibe right on the beach. Stuffed salmon was my favorite. It was seasoned well and wish I could order seconds of the couscous. I would pass on the tuna. I can't put my finger on it, but something just wasn't great. Mashed potatoes were a hit though. The highlight of the night was the Chixtini. I had to order 2.

Love the atmosphere!! Food is good. Love the fact that it's on the boardwalk!!! Great spot to visit if you're in the beach

"We chose Chix on the Beach for our Father's Day dinner while on vacation, and it definitely delivered on the beachy vibe! The live music and bustling atmosphere made for a lively evening. Although we were quoted a wait time of at least an hour, we were pleasantly surprised when we were seated on the patio much sooner. The food and service were decent, but it might have been impacted by the busy Sunday crowd. I had the 'Ultimate Just Seafood,' which satisfied my seafood craving, though the veggies and potatoes could have been better. My husband had the "Surf & Turf Coastal Tacos" which he loved. Overall, we'd come back--more for the cocktails and the fun atmosphere, perhaps for a laid-back lunch next time."

I Went here for a date night and the food was excellent I had a hummus wrap and my date had the crab ripper and we split some beach nachos which hit the spot. Valet was great as always but the server wasn't as attentive. Also the hostess was not very welcoming and made my date feel very uncomfortable.

My husband and I came here for lunch. I got the crab cake sandwich and my husband got the tuna tacos. We got to sit on the covered patio. We love getting to eat at places with outdoor seating. We had a nice view of the boardwalk and ocean. Our food was good. I thought the crab cake could have been larger. The bun was bigger than the crab cake, but the flavor was good. My husband's tuna taco had a large piece of seared tuna. Yummy, but would have been better cut into smaller pieces. The service was good. We did not have to wait long for anything. Overall, not a bad spot.

Was in VA for a work related thing and we ate in Chix easily 3 times while we were there. I want to give one star because they introduced me to their Orange Crush beverage and now I cannot get it at home :( Scallops were TO DIE FOR. Saturday night the place had dancing and was difficult to leave, so just be warned if that is not your scene.

Came back for dinner. As the food and service was good. Was approached by I guess was a manager during dinner. My son who didn't order a cocktail as he forgot his wallet at home did have a sip of mine. She was very very confrontational in her asking about his ID. As we were leaving I did let her know she was super rude. When she told me she wasn't I went to leave and she deliberately walked into me then yelled that I touched her. She rushed to get security which I replied I never touched her. The security guy stepped into my face and my husband had to step up to him and tell him to back off. So very unprofessional. As someone who's in the restaurant business I am appalled how they treat their patrons.

Wonderful dining experience ! A must visit on every trip to the Oceanfront. We've dined here many times typically for lunch. My favorite is the seafood platter, fried of course. The food is perfectly cooked and seasoned. We've also had the crab dip, crab cakes, fish dishes, scallops and prawns. Again perfectly prepared. The staff are attentive and customer service is outstanding. The patio and sunroom are excellent especially with the sea breeze. If you're looking for an awesome dining experience by the sea this is the place. Can't wait to come back again!

Food was mid, server was uninterested Out of a dozen clams 6 were closed. Sausage and corn in the boil was Slivers of food Burger was overcooked, dry and really no taste Location is great

The menu had a variety of choices with typical fare, hinting that the food will be just ok. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the food came out pretty tasty, with great seasoning. Service was friendly and attentive. Beachfront views and a casual atmosphere and overall, it's an easy recommendation for a simple, satisfying beach lunch or dinner.

Stopped by Chix for dinner on a Wednesday night since it was right next to the hotel I was staying at. Surprisingly the place was packed for it being a weekday! We were seated right away but after that the service was abysmal. Our waitress took quite a while to come by and get our order, by then we were ready to order our meal too so we did it in one go in case she took even longer to come back for our food order. I got the bacon cheeseburger and my husband ordered their clams. I also got their Caribbean crush drink and my husband ordered a beer. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly. I will say, I am not impressed at all with their alcoholic beverages. The flavor was off and didn't taste like the flavor profiles described on the menu. The bacon cheeseburger was good, but it's pretty hard to mess up a burger. My husband said the clams were good too. Honestly I probably would not come back here. Their drinks were awful and the food was just ok. The service was very slow. I think we saw our waitress twice. Once to take out order and again to bring the bill. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Chix on the Beach.

My friends brought me here for my bachelorette weekend festivities and it was a great time! We went on a Friday night and they had an awesome DJ who provided good vibes the whole night. The food was great for bar food and the portions were large. My only complaint would be the drinks. We all agreed that they tasted watered down. The service was also great as we were able to be seated and taken care of right away! Definitely recommend!

First time in and it was Outstanding! Courtney suggested the Broiled seafood platter, which was the Fresh Catch of Day. That was a home run! Got a couple Caribbean Crushes thanks to Tracy. There was another in the middle, but we won't mention that one. Courtney was right again. So as you can see; Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I stopped across the street at Waterman's Spirits and they sent me over here.

The nachos at this place are not good! They did not put enough sides or cheese on these and we basically ate just chips!! Don't recommend !! The seafood boil was ok, steamed shrimp were good! The lemon butter trio seafood dinner wasn't as big as I was exspecting it to be

Came down to visit family and always wanted to try this place. We came during the evening but did not stay as long as I wanted because of the incoming tropical storm. My son is going through a growth spurt so ordered the children's chicken tenders and cheeseburger. He devoured all of it. I had the Poppin' Goat Cheese Burger. Jalapeños stuffed with goat cheese and bacon on a burger. Wow is all I can say. My wife ordered the classic burger with everything on it. Nothing fancy, but she really enjoyed it. I love the feel of this place, and being on the beach makes for a relaxing quick bite. Our waitress was amazing as well. She was very bubbly and accommodating. She answered all our questions with no problems. Next time I am in VA Beach, I will be back to try some other things.

The wings were awesome!! Beer was cold and Tara, the barmaid was awesome!!! Would highly recommend this for your place to have a drink and eats after a good time on the beach!!

I came in for lunch. The wait time was quick and the ocean view , from the patio, was great. I must say the roasted vegetables are amazing. The location is perfect for parking and walking the waterfront, or taking a stroll from your hotel room. The restaurant offers valet service, with gratuities in lieu of changing for the service.
