"Picture it: Seasonal floodwaters rolling into parched sands and transforming them into a delicate tracery of glittering rivers and channels—the dry plains once again dripping with new life. That's the scene that greets you at the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the world's largest inland river delta. It plays host to a wide variety of wildlife, thriving across great swathes of the land held by the Moremi Game Reserve. You may encounter safari lions, leopards, giraffes, and rhinos; and when the floodwaters quench the land, you'll paddle in canoes past hippos, elephants, and crocodiles. In the summer (that's January and February in Botswana, given it's the southern hemisphere), rainfall from the Angola highlands is drained by the Okavango River into the delta, where the water levels will rise and fall over the next four months, from March through June, making this month the best time to see the transformation happen before your very eyes. Looking for a place to stay? African Bush Camps opened the riverside Khwai Lediba in 2023, and will open Atzaro Okavango in March 2024. The latter will feature 10 lagoon-side suites and offer peak safari-luxe vibes and a strong sense of place through design. (To no surprise, it's one of the Best Places to Go in Africa in 2024.)" - Matt Ortile, Caitlin Morton

We had the best time of our lives spending the day at Chobe National Park and on the Chobe River. The experience was nothing short of magical. We got to see lions up close, an unbelievable number of elephants, graceful giraffes, playful hippos, and so much more. The sheer abundance of wildlife was astonishing and made every moment exciting and memorable. The boat ride on the Chobe River was a highlight, offering breathtaking views and unique vantage points to observe the animals in their natural habitat. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, providing fascinating insights into the behaviors and characteristics of the wildlife we encountered. The scenery was stunning, with the park's diverse landscapes adding to the overall wonder of the experience. From the lush riverbanks to the expansive savannas, every part of the journey was a feast for the eyes. Whether you're a seasoned safari-goer or a first-time visitor, Chobe National Park and the Chobe River offer an unparalleled adventure that you'll treasure forever. We can't wait to return and relive the magic!

Must visit park when Botswana not just because is one of the most easily to access, but also because give you the opportunity to spot many different wild animals. I would recommend to do a game drive and not drive yourself if you can.

Very nice park and friendly rangers. The jeep ride is a bit bumpy but worth it. The ride on river Chobe was also excellent. 😊🐆🐊

My safari in Chobe National Park was an extraordinary experience. The landscape was breathtaking, with the Chobe River providing a stunning backdrop. Our guide expertly navigated the park, allowing us to witness a remarkable variety of wildlife. The sight of elephants moving gracefully across the plains at sunset was unforgettable. The abundant birdlife added vibrant splashes of color to the experience. It wasn’t just a journey through nature, but a profound journey into tranquility and awe. Chobe is truly a testament to the beauty and spirit of the wild.

Chobe National Park Tour is a must do if you are in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe or in Chobe. Our guide took us on an amazing water safari after a good land safari. What I am amazed is the water safari which is my first time as I have been on numerous land safari earlier in South Africa. Looking at elephants and hippos from water is definitely very very different. We saw lots of birds as well as crocodiles and even buffaloes. This is an experience of a lifetime.

Camp sites at Ihaha were empty due to security issues. Camped at Kubu lodge with 2 guards at night watching our camp sites seated in chairs with torches 15m away with gardeners keeping watch during the day. One is warned about theft and to lock everything of value away including passports and to keep the car empty of valuables. We saw no private vehicles on the Chobe river (October 11 to 15) and very few rental cars. Cat sightings mainly lion and one leopard. Squadrons of game vehicles charging around in radio contact. Elephant destruction every where. Chobe has lost its allure unless you stay in Europe. Only place to camp is Chobe safari lodge so away from braying donkeys and barking dogs.
