Meet the Chobe Angels, Africa’s First All-Female Safari Guide Team | Vogue

"We were inside Chobe National Park for just a few minutes before encountering a small herd of elephants. Our open-air safari vehicle rolled to a stop on the soft dirt road, bringing us face to face with a mother and her calf, just a few months old, and our guide Bella explained that after about six months the calf can no longer pass under its mother's belly. Elephant encounters felt like the norm in this northern Botswana park — aptly nicknamed the “Land of Giants” for its robust pachyderm population — and having a female guide was also presented as commonplace." - Regan Stephens

The Best Places to Travel in March

"Picture it: Seasonal floodwaters rolling into parched sands and transforming them into a delicate tracery of glittering rivers and channels—the dry plains once again dripping with new life. That's the scene that greets you at the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the world's largest inland river delta. It plays host to a wide variety of wildlife, thriving across great swathes of the land held by the Moremi Game Reserve. You may encounter safari lions, leopards, giraffes, and rhinos; and when the floodwaters quench the land, you'll paddle in canoes past hippos, elephants, and crocodiles. In the summer (that's January and February in Botswana, given it's the southern hemisphere), rainfall from the Angola highlands is drained by the Okavango River into the delta, where the water levels will rise and fall over the next four months, from March through June, making this month the best time to see the transformation happen before your very eyes. Looking for a place to stay? African Bush Camps opened the riverside Khwai Lediba in 2023, and will open Atzaro Okavango in March 2024. The latter will feature 10 lagoon-side suites and offer peak safari-luxe vibes and a strong sense of place through design. (To no surprise, it's one of the Best Places to Go in Africa in 2024.)" - Matt Ortile, Caitlin Morton

Google
Unbelievable. Getting to do both a cruise and a jeep safari was spectacular. Not cheap if you're coming across from Zimbabwe but definitely worth it. A memorable experience. Lions, Elephants, Hippos, Crocs, Buffalo. All seen in their natural habitat.

I absolutely loved the experience! Both the drive and the cruise gave me amazing opportunities to view wildlife. The guides on each were friendly, warm, and knowledgeable. This was probably the first game drive where I’ve seen so many animals. I truly enjoyed it here and will definitely be back!

Chobe National Park in Botswana was honestly insane – probably the best game drive of my life. We also did a cruise on the Zambezi River and it was just amazing. Saw animals so close – lions, elephants, you name it – it felt unreal. Everything about the experience was perfect, truly unforgettable.

To be honest - what an unbelievable experience. If you want to see crocodiles and thousands of elephants. That’s the spot to be - wow! It was one of those experiences which create memories. You have to visit the national park!

Google
The best safaris we took while in Africa!! We took an impromptu day trip to Botswana and I am so glad we did. We took part in a land and river safari and it was the best of the 3. The safari drivers get you really close to the animals for what is an experience of a lifetime!!!

Did a wonderful day trip from Vic Fasls with Wild Frontiers who took us to the Zim border, & then African Odyssey from tge Bots side. The immigration process was slow - not enough staff for peak tourist times. Chobe itself was lovely - there has been rain so the animals sadly were less condensed around the river. On our cruise we had great views of hippos & crocs, as well as buffalo & antelope. On our afternoon game drive we saw lots of antelope with babies, elephants incl babies, a giraffe, barred mongoose, baboons & hippos out of the water grazing. All the staff we came across were helpful & friendly. I would recommend African Odyssey as seemed well organised with good boats & vehicles.
