The atmosphere was a vibe. Our waitress Ashley was the best! The food was delicious! I didn’t get a drink but everything was good!!! Red velvet Waffles with fried chicken and cheese grits and applewood smoke bacon. Very very goood!!

There was mold on the cheese in my meal, which was understandably concerning. I appreciate that the kitchen promptly remade the dish. However, I felt the overall guest experience could have been handled with more care. A manager did not come to the table to acknowledge the issue, and there was no follow-up gesture such as a dessert or adjustment to the bill. I was still charged full price for the entrée. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes it helps enhance how food safety concerns are addressed in the future, ensuring guests feel supported and well taken care of.

The service was amazing from the guy at the door. He was more polite and welcoming than my actual waitress. Overall this is my 2nd time there. My kids love the food. I wasn't a fan of the salmon but the it was good. I would still back for the red velvet waffles.

First restaurant we visited while in New York. This place is an entire vibe from the time you enter the doors until you leave. Amazing food! Excellent service. Mailk and Tobe were wonderful. You can tell that they truly care about the guests. Tobe has an energy that is unmatched. I will definitely be back!! Thank you so much for the wonderful dining experience.

I hosted a Birthday party/ surprise engagement dinner. The staff was very professional & accommodating. I used the VIP room. I recommend you reserve ahead of time. The food was great. I loved the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place 100%.

Had an amazing experience at brunch. Went with no reservations and was able to be seated immediately. I enjoyed the unlimited mimosas. Everything was delicious, the ribs, the chicken and waffles. The cornbread was moist. The waitress didn’t give any recommendations however she was very polite and made sure our drinks stayed filled. I will definitely be returning.

We went here after an early morning home going service for a bestie, so we needed food that would comfort the soul. This place delivered. The presentation was on point. The service was great and the food was delicious. Saving this as a place to revisit when in NY.

This is the second time I had the chance to visit this restaurant. The food and drinks were delicious and a real vibr. Leon the owner was delightful. Try the biscuits and chocolate lava cake and thank me later.

Overall I give this place a good 6.5/ 4 stars out of 5. (Only because of our experience this time). I love supporting local and black owned businesses. I stopped by this place because of a TikTok where the owner referenced his culinary skills, his culture and education whilst pouring his heart into Chocolatè. Because of that, it was a no brainer to return. From the entrance, the host practically whispered to follow him. Which I didnt hear but my partner did. (it was loud- this was Sunday early evening). That's fine. We arrived to our table and had the amazing Woody, take care of us! He definitely understands table touches and not to overbear the guests. Wish the bussers/food runners were a little more courteous. When they did come, they didnt bus plates/nor replace silverware. I burnt my hand on a hot plate holding it as the FR* tried to shuffle around items on our table. Food was AMAZING! I would absolutely add something to the presentation of the biscuits and gravy though! Tasty as a slice of heaven but whoa that presentation looked like a big plate of slop! Maybe add basil/parsley or something green to liven up the plate. Especially for some of us who are influencers. (My partner). Shrimp and grits were TOP TIER as were those honey butter biscuits! *Chefs Kiss* OH and the biggest and only issue I had was that they did not read our reservation note. We had a birthday and the Server wasn't informed. That's not cool. Especially for someone's first time there. Looking forward to coming again though and maybe I can get some pictures then.

Chocolat is a great go to restaurant in Harlem. I ordered their infamous chicken & waffle - delicious!! The chicken was extra GOOD. The service was a tad bit slow but not unreasonable. Upon entering it took a little while for someone to seat us. No one was at the door, we were waiting and wondering is it seat yourself kinda vibe. Eventually someone came to the front and showed us to our seats. The ambiance was cool...busy on a beautiful Sunday evening. Definitely worth dining here.

Man that was some delicious brunch food. Listennnn. I sat and tried to figure out exactly what ingredient made the Mac and cheese so good. Is it the butter the cheese IS IT CREAM?? Changed my entire Sunday lol. The red velvet pancakes with chicken were dope too. I usually don't eat pancakes but I tore these up. My margarita was alright but the food definitely stole the show! Shout to the chef.

The atmosphere was good, and the bartender was great. The service could have been a little better. They needed experienced waiters for a party of 25 or more people. Now let's talk about this food, Unacceptably there was a set menu for each party(25 people) sitting down. There was an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert for each person. The entrees (SALOMON AND JERK CHICKEN) were either dry or overcooked; the only good thing was the salad. The staff kitchen should be ashamed of themself sending that food out to the guests. Never again. I had better food than this.

Went there a few weeks ago with my office staff and they were doing an interview for the news. Went back there last week and they raised there prices to u realistic levels. Almost $40 for a chicken quesadilla and hamburgers the same, and the drinks were terrible. That was our last visit unfortunately because we like to support community business.

Chocolat Restaurant & Bar. Although I have heard about it for years, I had never been there until Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I was always intrigued by their classy commercials on television. Before I arrived, I knew from the commercials that it was a place run with pride. It was a pride that flowed down to the cuisine and service. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that everything in those outstanding commercials was true. Great tasting food, excellent service, and great atmosphere. What more can I say but go there and experience Chocolat for yourself? Ms. Virginia Montague: Thank you Grant for your observations. I agree. The owner, Leon Ellis takes great pride in all the aspects of running a great restaurant. I go there with others as often as I can.

Went to celebrate my moms birthday. They serve "brunch" ALL day. I had the fried chicken with red velvet pancakes. Yummy. Prices are a bit high but the food is worth it

My family visited NY for the 1st time and were we glad to check out Chocolat in Harlem. We had the BEST ribs with delicious sides. The ribs fell off the bone and were sooo flavorful! My salmon dish was also very good but we LOVED the ribs. Excellent food presentation, very good customer service and beautiful location with nice ambiance. Highly recommend!

Decided to dine here with my team, to celebrate the new year. The ambiance and seating was good and comfortable for them all. The food menu was Caribbean style, with a hint of southern cuisine selections. I went with the Jerk chicken, peas & rice, and sweet plantains. Other good selections were Chicken & Waffles, Calamari, and fish. Overall, food was amazingly good and flavorful! Spirit drink selections were not appealing. Even the ones desired wasn't in stock. Service was lacking beyond measure. The waiter focused more on their mobile device and friends at the bar. Overall, there is significant improvements that's needed to be done by management. The customer experience was subpar.

I should begin by noting that this was the only restaurant regularly advertised on the New York Hilton channel. We enjoyed a lovely brunch here on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant sits on a prominent corner on a grand boulevard and is decorated in vibrant colors. Our server, Amari, was a delightful young man with big dreams. He was professional and polite. We asked to meet the owner who promptly came to the table and we took a photo together. Mr. Ellis is a consummate manager and chef (and a good Tuskegee man). I give high marks to the sangria and the mango margarita. Fresh ingredients, carefully balanced for a gourmet presentation. We were very impressed by the red velvet pancakes, fried chicken and salmon croquettes. The cheese grits are world class. I told Mr. Ellis that I would urge all foodies, discriminating consumers, and HBCU villages (especially SpelHouse, Tuskegee, and Howard to come and enjoy this amazing restaurant). It may be slightly pricier than standard restaurants, but this really is gourmet quality and deserves our support.

I almost gave one star BUT, the food was good. My husband booked a PRIVATE DINNING valentines day brunch reservation for TWO PEOPLE for 1:45pm. When we arrived the host told us that private dinning reservations are for three or more people. Even when we showed the reservation confirmation which says private dinning for TWO, the host was adamant that we are not allowed to sit in the area marked for private dining. My husband asked to speak to the manager which at the time we were told he was in meeting. As to not ruin our day we sat where the host says was the only place he could seat us. At the table the waiter brings water, the table was so broken and rocking so much that the water fell over a spilled all over my husbands phone. The staff was doing nothing to fix the issue. Even the other dinner tried helping by bringing over their napkins. Now finally someone comes over to mop and asks if we want to move to the table next to us (which was also rocking) we said no. At this point we were pissed. 25 mins later the waiter comes to tell us we can move to private dinning... WOW! ok, finally we are sat where we were supposed to sit. The whole situation could have been avoided. The last thing I'll add is that the restaurant was EMPTY!!! If they have 40 tables maybe 4 of them were occupied. Why do all of this where there weren't any patrons there anyway. The whole time after we arrived, for an entire hour not one other person arrived at this place. NOT ONE! Do better please. I will never go back but those booking reservations please be warned that what you book may not be what you get when you arrive. Very disappointed.

It was my first time having a Salmon BLT and I really enjoyed it! The bacon was thick and crispy and complemented well. My sister had the red velvet waffle with fried chicken and it was delicious! Definitely on my top 3 red velvet waffle. We came for Saturday brunch and didn't wait long to be seated, even though there was a full house. Our waiter was attentive and checked on us often. However, I will say that we didn't enjoy our drinks. They were made too strong and were underwhelming. Would still definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Food was delicious, but the restaurant was extremely hot. Spoke to the owner Mr. Ellis and he said that he is unable to change the temperature which was a little unsettling as a customer. As I sweated I realized I would not come back because the customer service from the owner was not good. But Amarie our server was good it was only 2 servers at 6pm. Will not go back

I took an Uber from Tribeca to chocolat. When I told the hotel doorman I was headed to Harlem for this great restaurant. He said. I hope it's worth it. I said I'd heard great reviews. I arrive am seated. Review the menu and requested a server. I asked the server his name. He was Malik. I told him I wanted French toast with fried chicken. Asked how many pieces come with the order. He said 4. I told him I'd like all thighs. He said it's mixed. I told him I have no problem paying for all thighs. He said I couldn't and I have to take it mixed. I asked for a manager. None was on city. I explained I came all the way from Tribeca and my friends were coming from Brooklyn. So, I came all this way to be told I have to pay for what you want me to have. I am allergic to shrimp and the croquetes which I was interested in had shrimp. I told Malik if I can't get the fried chicken pieces I want, then I guess I have no choice but to leave. He said fine. This was 11:30 Saturday morning. Besides myself there were 4 other people. A party of about 6 or 7 were entering as I departed. There was just no attempt to retain my business So, I spent $100.00 in Uber fees in less than an hour to go to Chocolat Harlem for nothing. So F for customer service

Had a not so great experience at Chocolat this Saturday evening. Started out great; we were seated quickly and our orders were taken within 10 minutes. That's where the good times end... We placed two orders for chicken and waffles - even had a brief discussion with the lovely waitress that we didn't want chicken strips. Our guest received her order, no problem. When ours came out, it was fried CATFISH and waffles. The waitress acknowledged the error and said we could keep them and they would bring out the correct order. About 20 minutes later, the server again brought out strips of something - and no waffles. So, even if the order was correct, by that time the original waffle was cold. Off the server went again, to try to get the right order. At that point, the waitress comped the two dishes and said she would bring out the correct order to go. Of course, 15 minutes later, the chicken was correct - just no waffles lol. The food was really good (our guest loved the shrimp and grits!) but great food with terrible customer service just doesn't fly. This is not a cheap restaurant either so the fact that the kitchen was disorganized for not reason (it wasn't crowded at 4:30pm) makes this a no go for me going forward. Just a very head shaking experience, since this could be a really nice destination spot.

The food here was good, but the service was terrible. I ordered red velvet waffles and chicken, and it was very good. After we were seated, we gave our orders and paid the bill. That was the only time we spoke to the waiter. I don't think I will be going back.

I'll be fair and say that the food wasn't terrible but wasn't anything to travel out of your way for. Our wait staff was actually really nice, however once we left the establishment, my husband noticed several fraudulent charges being made to his card (the one used for payment at this restaurant) totaling $2300. We realized someone here must have either taken a picture of the card or did something while they were taking payment. By this time we were home and my husband called his card company to report fraud while I called the restaurant. Initially the person who answered was helpful and got the manager in the line. The manager was very nasty and unhelpful and asking suspect questions that made her seem guilty. All I requested was a copy of the receipt and/or the name of the employee who handled the payment for the police report. I could understand if they reasonably could not provide the employee's info, but she straight up denied that anyone could have stolen from us because "this is the first time something like this has ever come up". She became confrontational and hung up on me. So we drove from long island back to Harlem to get the information we requested. Her attitude switched up in person. If I could give 0 stars I would because I will never come back here again and they obviously employ scammers and thieves. Which definitely isn't worth the bland Mac and cheese, under seasoned greens, or price point. Do not come here, do not spend your money either because you might wound up getting stolen from.

3.5 stars, I feel like I'm taking off points for the service. The waitress was sweet but I only saw her at my table about 2 times. The calamari and short rib wasn't bad but needed more flavor for me. I enjoyed my shrimp and grits and my honey pepper wings. The mango margaritas were also very good. The ambience is nice and cozy. My mom got the snapper and it was small and not very flavorful.

The food was delicious. The lobster Mac and cheese was so good!! Unfortunately, everything goes downhill after that. The drinks tasted like medicine. The waiter was absolutely terrible at his job. Didn't take our order because he was too busy on his phone by the booth with 3 other staff. Then, when we call him over.. he just comes looking annoyed. He never checked on our table. Food came out fast but didn't even bother to fill our water glass. When we asked him, we had to wait 15 min for water. He was just out of line and made our experience unpleasant. My best recommendation to the restaurant is to either train their staff or get new ones because they will make or Break ur restaurant.

Randomly went here and probably won't be back. Good music however the food was not worth the price. The snapper was a bit small for $39 and included two sides however I was charge for replacing one of the side which is crazy because the side that I replace was cheaper then the side it came with. Requested bacon on my lobster mac and cheese and was charge $6 for few pieces on top of the small bowl being $34. Also adding a mandatory 18% gratuity just for two people is ridiculous. I don't think a $34 tip was necessary. It's sad I have to write this but it's disappointing to see places take advantage of customers with prices.

I love weekends and brunch, even after 6 pm -- I'm in! This place is beautiful, spacious, and full of warmth. Be prepared to salivate as you browse the menu or look at the gorgeous dishes leaving the kitchen. Yummy! The red velvet waffle with boneless chicken sounded like a winner, but the $32 price had me pondering whether it would be worth it. Moments later, every bite's seasoning and crispy texture left me speechless. Thumbs up! On busy days like the weekend, be prepared to wait for a table, a fresh batch of their popular items like the red velvet waffle, and your server. You can tell that Chocolat is a local favorite and family-oriented. We stayed there long after our meal because we felt at home. Bravo!

My goto brunch spot. Great staff and food. If you're ever in Harlem, stop by and check it out. You won't be disappointed.

First of all, you know it's bad when you are already writing a bad review before the drinks or food have even come out. We came in as a relaxing group of ladies but were treated as criminals for having the audacity to ask for separate checks. So apparently the waiter is afraid of the manager who backs the owners policy of too many checks. I couldn't believe I was told absolutely not. I know that most POS systems have you place the order by seat number. Their idea of hospitality is hostility. No wonder not a single member of their staff smiles. We are going to Ponty Bustro next time!

The food is great always consistent. The service will depend on your waiter. I've been here many times and overall it's always a good experience. Try the chicken really tasty. Drinks are good too.

I attended Chocolat Restaurant & Bar on April 26th for brunch and was thoroughly pleased with my experience. I enjoyed my food and the family like atmosphere that Chocolat provides. Ambiance: I truly love the atmosphere at Chocolat. The decor is warm and inviting with hues of blue through the restaurant. The restaurant is large so there is tons of space to accommodate larger parties. With smooth and upbeat R&B classics crooning through the speakers and the drinks flowing, Chocolat is perfect to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or graduation. Service: We were greeted as soon as we walked with a warm hello. While the restaurant is super popular and can get busy, we waited a brief 10 minutes for our table to be prepared. The staff are very nice and attentive. My waiter Mamadou kept our bottomless glasses full and our food came out hot and all at once. The restaurant manager made it a point to come by and check on us while we ate. Food: The food was truly amazing! Me and my friends eat family style so I was able to taste a bit of everything!! I ordered the Shrimp and Grits which was cooked in a delicious tomato based - lobster cream sauce. I also had the Penne Shrimp & Salmon - the salmon is cooked perfect and the sauce is amazing. I fell in love with red velvets pancakes sprinkled with sugar. . The Mac and cheese was also delicious. I also had home fried potatoes which were perfect cooked and not too tender. For drinks, I had a pineapple mimosa which had the perfect amount of Prosecco. I also had a strawberry margarita that packed a punch and was refreshing. As a party of 9 including kids. Food was really good. It came out hot. We had: Pancakes w/ chicken breast / chicken tenders - 4/5 Waffle w/ chicken breast - 3/5 (2) burger w/ fries- 3/5 Lobster mac and cheese - 4/5 mac and cheese (plain )- 3/5 salmon - 4/5 Truffle fries- 3.5/5 mimosas - 1/5. No buzz after 6 glasses . only tried orange juice version . everything was hot and came out the same time Bill came up to 389.40 BUT we sat in the back, smaller section up three stairs and saw 3 ROACHES while dining. Two on the wall and one on our table. That should have been enough to make us leave but we had several children and a newborn and it was tooooooooooooo much of a hassle to find another brunch spot on a Sunday at 3pm . I wish we left but i was out voted -The Waiter even killed one and walked away . I don't dine with my phone or i would have taken pictures. This place was highly recommended to us by a friend but this is my first and last time

I was visiting the City with a group of friends to attend a play at Lincoln Center and we made our reservation a week in advance. Our group was excited for our brunch and arrived prior to the establishment opening! Our group ordered our meal at the same time and 45 mins later there were a few people in the group that received their food order? The rest of the group didn't receive our food until 60 minutes later?! As we waited for our food we attempted to get some resolution through our waitress as well as the manager! We pointed out other patrons who arrived after our group had received their food and were finished their meal! We also pointed out those waiting to be seated over 1 1/2 hours as we were waiting for our food and they had reservations?! Once the food arrived- it was cold! I ordered the waffle and catfish! I packed in a to-go container and once re-heated the catfish needed a lot of seasoning! The establishments approach to addressing the matter was being defensive and saying the 'kitchen was backed up' or giving standard responses of the cause was outside of their control and the last excuse given was blaming 'us' the 'group' -stating the group didn't put our order in at the same time?! Inaccurate information! What was disappointing about this interaction is that when we reached out to the owner 'in real time' by email while at the restaurant! The owner responded the next day on another platform and was less than apologetic. It was explained the intent is not to vilify the business, but to seek resolution on the matter! Sadly, the engagement with the owner was less than satisfactory! I want the YELP community to be aware and prepared for an accurate accounting of how the experience is at this restaurant during brunch time hours!

Food and drinks were excellent. Had the catfish and waffles. My friend had the ribs, Mac n cheese and cabbage. Well seasoned catfish. Homemade waffles. Excellent Mac and cheese. Prices on the high end but worth it. Appreciated the quiet background music.

On this day , I came around 8:45-9pm on a Tuesday. The Mac & cheese was delicious , but the fried chicken tasted like it was cooked in old oil and the pancakes were missing out on flavor like they just added food coloring and called it a day. My friend and I came to the restaurant on Mother's Day. We are from San Antonio, Texas, and this was our first trip to Harlem and NYC. Although we had a reservation, we decided to eat at the bar because it was a full house. Everyone was very nice and professional, from the hostess to both of the bartenders! (I didn't get anyone's name) The food was awesome! That mac and cheese will make you hurt somebody! The bartender made the best Old Fashion that I had in a long time. I will definitely recommend Chocolat to everyone!

I walked in for a birthday gathering and asked the host for the name that was given. They had no idea what I was referring too. Horrible. I sat at the bar until the party arrived not long after. The drinks at the bar weren't good . The bartender did not know how to mix the drinks well. I suggest just ordering your drinks straight and it will be fine. The MIXED drinks were HORRIBLE. The food was just ok. This place would not be my 1st 2nd or 3rd choice when the city has such a large variety of restaurants. They say brunch Isa great option but I really don't think I'd be back to try it. The staff is nice. The ambiance is ok. The restaurant is clean. It is not a big restaurant. The section they put us in the seats are really low for a dinner /brunch party

First time in Harlem for a long since since COVID started. This restaurant was recommended to me and it was a hit. The place was spacious and empty on a Thursday afternoon. Only a few people were seated with two wait staff. Service was slow on waiting to be served. My friend ordered the lamp chops, they were flavorful, tasty, light and well seasoned. It was cooked to perfection. I had the red velvet pancakes with fried chicken, the pancakes were amazing. I didn't like the skin of chicken because it was over fried to my liking, but the chicken was juicy, well seasoned and moist. Definitely worth a trip to Harlem.

I had brunch the buttermilk pancakes were fluffy, the bacon was crispy delicious and of course a side of scrambled eggs. Everything was perfect. The strawberry margarita was weak and smaller than I expected but it was okay. The server was okay but seemed to be everywhere waiting tables and making drinks he earned his tip. The atmosphere was okay, not too bright and not too dark. Overall Id definitely go back again.

I have been to this spot once before but this is my first review. The girls and I made reservations for 10ppl for 1pm. When I arrived I had to find steet parking and found parking on the street eventually. I walked over and the hostess told me I had to wait for the rest of the party before they sat me. The place is kind of small and all the big tables were all taken and they didn't look like they were leaving anytime soon. Mind you, I got there like 20 minutes earlier than our reservations. So, some more ladies showed up and it was now about 1:15 and the larger tables were still unavailable. The restaurant doesn't seem to have seating limits, which they should to accommodate other reservations. It only ended up being 6 of us and they sat us at the top table where there was barely any light up there. Woody was our server and he was really good. I ordered the red sangria and that was $17. For my entrée I ordered the seafood croquettes and plain grits. When my food came out it was kind of cold so I had to send it back to be warmed. I had to add quite a bit of salt so the grits could taste better and the croquettes were just ok. The girls had different meals. One of the girls had the fried chicken and she said it was more breaded that meat. She said she had to search for the meat. All in all the food was just ok. The bill included gratuity and it was close to $60 for my 2 items. This place is a bit overpriced if you ask me. I had an ok experience.

I heard about the spot from a friend and we still excited to go. I was not disappointed. The restaurant is located in Harlem. We went on a Saturday there is only street parking so you do have to circle a bit but parking is not as hard as during the weekdays. Once we arrived they checked our vaccination status. They must either see your vaccine card or or your pass on your phone. The server will not seat you until the whole party has arrived. I had to wait a bit for everyone in my party to arrive, so me and one friend waited at the bar. Once everybody arrive they sat us in a nice large table for a party of six. We all ordered bottomless Mimosa's because one Mimosa cost $12. The bottomless mimosas only last for 90 minutes. Once we had our drinks the server told us the specials and gave us a moment to look at the menus and then we placed our orders. Everyone loved their meals I had the Emilys fried chicken and French toast. The chicken was delicious it was fried crispy but the inside was moist and juicy had the right amount of seasoning it was not salty it tasted like fried chicken made in your home by your grandmother or mother. The French toast best fried well I like it when it's a bit crispy on the outside and soft on the inside hello Emma a cinnamon and spices it was just awesome to eat. The The ambience was great and soothing and laid-back for Saturday morning brunch the music was on point the service was excellent the mood was very soulful. I will definitely be back

This was my first time at this restaurant. Met up with 6 other ladies on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. Fortunately after circling the block once, I was able to find street parking across from the restaurant. We got seated in the far back table, elevated but dark...even at 1 pm in the afternoon. We requested some candles just to be able to read our menus. We did get some flameless candles but they arrived much after we placed our orders for food. Food- I ordered the red velvet pancakes and fried chicken. Thought the pancakes (3) were smaller than I expected, they were really good. The chicken however was not. I am not a big fried chicken person, but I know good fried chicken. This chicken was more breading than chicken and I could not differentiate which piece of chicken i was eating by looking at it. The other girls did say they enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Total for chicken and waffle, unlimited mimosa and included gratuity was $70. That's a very pricy breakfast Woody was our waiter and he was pretty good as he was running from larger parties to ours. We didnt have too much of a wait for refill on our unlimited mimosas. I appreciate him for that.

There is a reason, for not coming to this place in a long time ! They had a new brunch on a Friday , nothing was said about a regular bottomless mimosas needing to buy an entree . We finally get our order in , and it took forever and nothing was good. As if the food service wasn't horrific , the fight indoors really was the cherry of me never coming back .

Wanted to support a local business. Menu looked good. Stopped in Friday night 6PM. Place was empty except for a small party in the back room. Walked in, not acknowledged. After 5 min, hostess sat us. Took 10 minutes for someone to bring us water and then he walked away. 15 minutes pass, no one took our order. 4 employees standing around pacing doing nothing. One guy even staring out the window. We left because we knew this was going to be a shit show. Also the place smells like the stale piss you smell in the subway. What a shame.

Slow service. It's never a surprise when and 18% tip is automatically included. Disappointed to say the least.

DISGUSTING AND EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED I came to this place close to 10yrs ago and experienced bad food and service, never returned until recently. I was in the area catching and movie, and afterward my friend and I decided to come here since it was close and super cold out. What a HUGE mistake. Waited 10 min for the host to approach and get us seated. Waited another 10 min to be approached by a server. Ordered the margarita and got a drink that was clearly made with lemon/lime syrup. Did not order another one. Got the beet salad that was clearly made with canned beets! I paid $24 for a salad that I had to pick out all the beets! The server never checked in on us. Had to ask the busser for water refills on more than one occasion. Received the bill with an illegal auto gratuity for TWO people. No wonder the server could care less about us. This place TERRIBLE and needs a whole concept reconstruction. But hey if you're into overpriced mediocre, this your spot!

Nice music selection and outdoor seating. Definitely worth a first visit. We'll be back. Addition - wanted to add a bit more to this review now that I've had more time to ruminate on the experience at Chocolat. Off the bat, I have to give this place props and cudos for the cuisine coming out of their kitchen and the vibe in the room!! Of course they have your American cuisine and African American staples and favorites, but it all comes with a quenticential Harlem feel, the quality of the cuisine and the non-pretentious plating was top notch and yes...their cocktails will leave a buzz. Be aware, don't be sloppy, and act right. Please make sure you can function and have a ride if you plan on indulging in more than 1 or 2. My Sangria was a wonderful burst of Summer and Fall flavors but I only had one...I could feel it and I am not a lightweight. Strong enough to enhance the drink without overtaking it. The mark of a good mixologist. My husband had the Chocolate Martini. THAT is an all year round drink, especially during the colder months. The rich chocolate liquor and flavor AND warm buzz would be the perfect precursor to a relaxing night home in front of a fire. The Salmon was seasoned, blackened, and grilled to perfection on a bed of Spinach, and look you'all...the Red Velvet Waffle and thrice battered Southern Fried chicken took me right back to the family cookout. The vibe was pretty chill and easy going, ample seating indoor and patio, full bar, unfortunately business was a little slow the night we went, but that may be due to how COVID hit the restaurant industry just in general. We're still all coming back from that, so I get it. This place is worth it though. The owner was there when we arrived and made sure we got seated right away, and the staff was wonderful, young, gifted, Black, and beautiful looking. Patio is also a great space to people watch. I've seen their local commercials before, already had them on my radar to try, but we ended up there because my husband chose that spot as where he wanted to go for a chill birthday dinner. Glad we went. Definitely a Black owned business I'll be frequenting again. Good food, good people, good vibes!

Stay Away Unless You Know This As You Come Thru The Door. The Hostess Was Bland As They Come. The Food Nutting To Talk About. They Charge You For CornBread!! $4.00 For A .50 Piece. Fool Me Once..., Won't Fool Me Again. Oh, Hell To The No!!!! - 9/11/23 I Am Still Quite Upset With My Wasted Time And Money At This Establishment. I was excited to try this restaurant only to met with dismay. We arrive 15 mins early for our 3:45pm reservation.... Where we originally seated was a bit busy, so we asked to move to a private booth along the wall. We moved and realized we had additional guest at our dinner table - UGHHHH GNATS . We asked to move again, i requested to speak to a manager. The young lady who I was told was the manager came with a gentleman. As upset as I should be - i was actually pretty damn nice ....the manager whose name I have yet to receive was JUST AS NASTY AS THE GNATS in the spot. I explained to him how uncomfortable it was to have gnats and I feel that everyone bill should be comped at least the unlimited mimosas. His words were " you don't make that decision" - i advised him call the cops and health department . He said this conversation could have gone differently if i approached him differently. SIR - you have insects in your establishment and you expect me to happy about it ? It was giving infestation and dirty kitchen MIND you we were about 100 feet from the kitchen. He was hovering over me and I said to him allow me to stand up because it's making me uncomfortable - he agains say he didn't like how i approached him YET he never introduced himself nor did he apologize. He just kept expressing how he felt as if HE WERE PAYING FOR THIS. He removed my food and drinks but that's still NO good- my friends steak came over cooked-- Bellinis after the first round came in a different color. If i could give it ZERO stars .. on a extreme scale. The waiter was fine and I did make it clear that I hope the establishment did not think we should pay for this mediocrity. Which is why the owner was probably pissed BUT your establishment is sickening . Bye Bellinis & Mimosas - 4.5 out of 10. Food - 4.5 out of 10.

Any bad reviews are all cap (not true). This place is amazing.. from the great vibes to the wonderful service and the food was impeccable.. I ordered the braised beef Mac and cheese and the Fried chicken platter Everything was delicious.. the owner was there greeting guests the atmosphere was just what you want in a dining experience. I will definitely be repeating..

Where do I start? I absolutely lovedddd the food here. We had a party of 4 and were seated around 20 mins after the reservation which I guess would've been annoying if we were in a rush but we were going with the flow so it was fine. For our table we had the bottomless mimosas and Mac& cheese to start off. The mimosas were great. We did need to remind our server a few times to fill up to really enjoy the drinks but other than that it was well worth it. The Mac and cheese was also enjoyable. For an entree we had the cinnamon French toast & fried chicken, chicken& waffles, fried catfish & waffles, and Ted velvet pancakes& waffles. Absolutely no complaints accord the board. I was surprised by how fast the food came out and it was HOT and ready. The fried chicken was the best I've had in a long time. The music vibe was chill for a saturday brunch. I'd definitely go back here.
