Chris is a true Craftsman, And is as obsessed with making these fine chocolates as I am with consuming them. Most highly recommended. Having watched this place, go through two iterations, from Chocolatier blue, until now, Chris and his refined and thoughtful method for making stunningly beautiful and delicious chocolates remain one of my delights at living in the neighborhood. It was here. I bought my first bar of Domori chocolate, and Chris now uses Solstice chocolates , a local chocolate company headed by the regional director of the FAA of all things, And I couldn't be happier at the partnership. Chris' masterful use of hot spices with chocolate and citrus elements Remain an entirely unique, and separate class of chocolates from just about anything else you will find in the Bay area. I can't recommend it enough. This is one of The things I love about living in the East Bay.

A little chocolate shop in berkeley that has unique flavors and very nice designs. Perfect for a gift or for yourself. They do have boxed options if you’re doing a gift. Seems like the flavor alternate. I’ve been to this shop before and quite enjoyed the honey parmesan. The workers here are very friendly and nice. They offered me to try two whole samples which was cool. Individual chocolates are $2.75 each then they have it by the box for 5, 10, 15 etc pieces. A place I would come back to if I am going to gift chocolates or want a sweet treat.

Came here on a Valentine’s Day last minute shopping. Very glad I found this one and is my go to for chocolate. Everything is well designed and well executed. Flavor combinations had many thoughts into them making each one a sophisticated taste while not being dominated by one ingredient - you can taste them all.

Lovely little shin dig place making up batches of chocolate in various shapes and confectionary styles. They seem to use dark chocolate which is a signature move by those who make real chocolate. Sourced from Vietnam and other places. I happen to pop my head in and I highly suggest patronizing these people as they're a small business owned by a couple and they make very good chocolate a la dark style And are friendly to boot! No wonder everyone loves this place.

Bit pricier for gift boxes, but chocolates LOOK BEAUTIFUL and FLAVORS ARE EXQUISITE. Gift boxes can be picked and are assembled and wrapped right in front of you. The chocolate varieties (i.e. pistachio praline, blueberry) are simple but seem to have an incredible amount of thought and consideration behind each one. Called and came in a touch after the 6pm closing time. Exceptional service and wonderful vibe, gentleman assembling the gift boxes was very sweet and even offered us each a sample. Both the blueberry and mango chocolates we were given as samples had subtle but exquisite fruit flavors. Chocolates look beautiful and make for wonderful gifts for special occasions. Will definitely return for gifts in the future.

Was looking for a local shop to buy artisanal chocolate for Valentine's day and Chocolaterie fit the bill. It's located in downtown Berkeley so parking can be a little difficult. The chocolates here are so colorful and beautiful. I also really enjoyed the unique artisanal chocolate flavors. My favorite was the lychee lavender. The subtle fruity and floral flavor worked well with the chocolate. The chocolates here make a wonderful gift and I'll definitely be back!

Received a box as a holiday gift! They're almost too pretty to eat Some yummy ones I tried so far -- hazelnut, PB&J, and tangerine! Hazelnut might be my favorite so far with the hazelnut and praline filling. The PB&J is a unique twist on a classic childhood flavor. Tangerine flavor was sweet yet bright! Can't wait to try the others. The box of chocolates was delivered to my house in a solid box. It had a little bow around the box and a small handwritten note with a message from my manager. I'm inspired to also send these out for gifts as well!

There was a WIDE variety of chocolate to choose from including passion fruit caramel, mango chile, and even a selection of rotating season options. Take a look at the photos, the chocolates all look so BEAUTIFUL. Exceptional quality of delicate gourmet chocolate with interesting flavors! There was 1 staff working and she was super nice and friendly. She even had a pile of chocolate that was not perfect and she gave 1 out to each customer as a sample as they were ordering. I will definitely come here again to try more of their chocolate creations!

Perfection! I was given a sample of the passion fruit-caramel chocolate and my god! I walked out with a box of 10 pieces, which my husband and I devoured in one sitting. I live 2 hours away but I'm thinking of relocating.

The chocolates were divine! They were so beautifully crafted and tasted just as good. We tried a bunch of their popular flavors and they didn't disappoint. They survived a long flight and being in an 80 degree car for almost an hour because of the good job the owner did with packaging. Highly recommend it!

If you're looking to gift some one some chocolates this is definitely a shop I'd recommend. All of the flavors are very good but in particular I really love the passion fruit one which has a good balance between sweet-tartness of the fruit and the biter-earthiness of the chocolate. I also really appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff are especially when I have questions about the flavors or am having a difficult time deciding what to get.

Chris is an ARTIST. Not to mention an absolutely gracious host. I came in 5 minutes to closing. He welcomed me with not one, not two, but THREE samples of fine chocolates. I accepted. :) Cardamom Caramel. Passion Fruit Caramel. Lavender Tea. Oh my. He airbrushes them. Like each chocolate is a model. And each chocolate is a model. For what chocolates should be. I bought two boxes. He gave me extras to go home with. I can't say enough about how much I love this establishment. Side note: I used to go to another Chris (Elbow) in San Francisco and find no need to travel dramatically to Hayes Valley for artistically made chocolates when this Chris is nearby. I will be back to buy more presents. They are gorgeous inside and out. Plus, he finds the finest ingredients he can from Monterey Market in Berkeley. Then, creates at an extremely high-craft level. How much more local and lucky can we get?!

Orgasmic is all I can say. I brought a mix of 20 chocolates to a Thanksgiving party to top off dessert, and they were a hit.

This place is a great find. Went to get coffee, passed by here and decided to go in. So glad I did! All the flavored chocolate here is really good! Flavor points are accurate and not overbearing. The only draw back I would say is the hours and days this place is open. This place is more often closed than open per week

AMAZING QUALITY chocolates. Every piece is so, so delectable and LAYERED in flavor. They definitely know wtf they're doing! Definitely hit this place up if you're looking for QUALITY chocolates at reasonable local business prices. FOOD I got a box of 10 chocolates ($22) for my bf for Valentine's Day. You can really taste everything they wanted you to taste and everything they listed in their descriptions. The combinations of flavors just totally worked out for every piece, from passion fruit caramel to mango chile. They also have some fun alcoholic flavors, such as blackberry gin and lime mezcal. Love the creativity. Passion fruit caramel was my favorite! MOOD A super cute grab-and-go type of shop. They also have pies which I will definitely try next time, and hot chocolate which also seems pretty popular. Note theydon't take Apple Pay! 'TUDE The lady who helped me was super sweet and patient! She even let me sample one of the chocolates I ended up not choosing, which was just as delightful as the rest I bought.

Come for their hot chocolate. Food: 7/10 I am not a fan of their chocolates; which have a waxy/processed texture that overshadows the chocolate for me. However, I do really enjoy their hot chocolate! Order it without the added sugar for a richer chocolate flavor :) Service: 8/10 Friendly staff who are very attentive and happy to socialize as you select your chocolates. The store does not see a high volume of customers so there is typically only one to two workers working the counter. Ambiance: 2/10 Limited window seating in a very small space- not the space to come meet up with friends or bring a book and hangout. However, there is an outdoor parklet with shaded seating nextdoor (in front of the Butcher's Son). Price: 6/10 For me, their chocolates are overpriced for the quality. They are aesthetically beautiful, but waxy in taste and texture.

This place never fails, man. When you need a batch of High Quality Chocolates for your significant other, or when you just want to indulge a bit, and just want everything to go away? You gotta come here. This place deserves a James Beard Award for Chocolates. Always consistent from when they 1st opened. You make your nibbles count when you take a bite into one of these. One of the best chocolatiers in the Bay Area! What I really enjoy about this place is that the flavors are complex, ever changing, and quite nostalgic. While each piece is exquisite, some are more simple while others are quite daring. For example, I never, in a million years thought a celery and peanut butter bon bon would delight me but it did! What use to be a healthy childhood snack, was now replicated into a delicious chocolate. What a great spot and the owner is friendly too! What a gem right on University St!

I usually stay far away from chocolate shops, but have used the 5 and 10 piece packages from Chocolaterie to take care of many of my Christmas/Chanukah presents this year and I love to see the look of delight when people open the box. A wonderful feeling to see gifts that give so much pleasure. And a perfect gift for people who already have everything. And Jess is delightful. I'll be back for the next special day.

Small shop, easy to miss if you are walking, but it is a chocolate lovers paradise. I picked up two dark chocolate bars, the one from Ecuador, very deep and rich flavor. I got another one from Madagascar, looking forward to that with some tea and grapes or something.

Dear Blues Chocolates, please choose your employees with care! I have been coming to this location for 4 years for your passion fruit caramels and never have I ever had such a horrible experience as last weekend. The young woman working was horribly rude! She pulled out her phone to text while we were trying to order, she was very abrupt with us when she did address us, and it was very apparent that we were an huge inconvenience to her. Additionally her physical appearance was concerning to me being that the chocolate are on open display and this is a place of food service, but her hair was a mess and she looked like she rolled right out of bed to come to work. You have such an amazing product I would be devastated if you ran out of business due to the low quality of your employees.

Chocolates are not ***amazing***, but they are so, so pretty and quite unique. My favorite was the espresso, but all the others were also very rich and interesting. Lots of them have alcohol, which warms your throat nicely. And, I know I said this before, so, so, so pretty. Makes for a great gift, albeit a bit expensive. The employee who sold us the chocolates had a really soft voice and was very smiley, so I think we ended up buying more than intended. Still, reasonably worth it for a special occasion, I think.

This place is amazing! The best chocolate I have had in my life. My husband and I visited from Mississippi and ended up eating here every day we were here. The man who runs it is so nice and we really enjoyed our visits. Definitely recommend!

I love chocolate if it's great! I have had trouble finding great chocolate in the East Bay. That is until last week, when I purchased a box of 10 chocolates for my husband's birthday. Wow, amazing flavor. I just wish I'd gotten a box of 20 pieces. Guess I'll have to go back. Run, don't walk to Chocolaterie, if you love gourmet chocolate.

I bought 2 chocolates and they even included a sample The cherry wine -tart -smooth -luxurious The pistachio one (don't remember the exact name) -all time favorite -crunch -carmely -rich -have to try Earl Grey Blood Orange -bright -bold -aromatic Would be back to get more chocolates and try their pies!!

This place is so awesome. I've never seen such beautiful chocolate in my life. It's like an anime come alive. The finish is so smooth and shiny, even to the touch it looks and feels like a plastic display but the actual quality of the chocolate is amazing. I'm no chocolate connoisseur but the flavor is strong without being overbearing and texture is smooth after the initial snap of the outer finish. We were also given a free sample each! I got the chili one as a sample and my throat was burning it had such a kick I stayed down after . It was really good but I think I'll stick to normal flavors haha. We got 5 for $13, which is a steal considering we also got a sample each. Embarrassingly enough we didn't realize the empty middle walk through is so you can go to the other side and purchase their other items, you don't have to walk out to go to the other side. we looked ridiculous. I guess they used to sell ice cream but they've decided to focus on chocolates. They still have pies though! This was a great place to get after dinner chocolates/ dessert.

This place was top chocolaTIERie! The chocolate flavors were very interesting and unique, but tasted very good! I would definitely recommend this place if you need something to bring over to a friend or family member's house for a party or social gathering! It's fun to taste-test all the fun flavors!

I walked in here one day looking for a V-Day gift for my girlfriend and thought, "Chocolates, can't go wrong." And i was right! The chocolates here are like none I've ever seen or tasted. I got a sample of the raspberry pb&j and I had to leave this review.

This place is a hidden gem in Berkeley. I have walked past this cute little shop multiple times before I finally decided to step in. The shop offers a selection of adorable artisanal chocolates and some hot chocolate. The employee who helped me was very friendly and offered me a sample before I was swooned by the quality of the chocolates. I bought small box of 5 pieces for $13 as a gift for a friend (but ended up keeping for myself mwahaha). I bought a raspberry dark chocolate heart, lychee lavender white chocolate, hazelnut, grapefruit rosemary, and peach white chocolate. I loved how neat the packaging for these chocolates looked and I would totally come back to buy gifts for friends, colleagues, coworkers, and professors (or even for myself when I feel fancy). One thing I noticed, however, is that the card with the images and flavors that comes in the box (so you know which flavor you are eating) does not match the flavors they are currently selling. I hope that this gets fixed soon, as it would be disappointing to bite into an unexpected flavor. I guess life really is a box of chocolates, never know what you're gonna get (until they update the flavor cards)!

Chocolate art! So we were walking from the hotel on Uni to the school when we passed by Chocolatier Blue. Looking at the artwork of the chocolate made us stop. Looking inside, we were oohing and aahing and looking at it- wow. Looks nice. The person manning the shop was trying to help us with what our selection/what we wanted; however, we were unsure if we wanted to get the chocolate that specific day. Samples though! They have samples! Cookies and cream was good, they had a chili one as well that gave a lot of fire! The thing here is that some flavors aren't gonna be what you like and if you're not gonna like the flavor, you're definitely not gonna enjoy the chocolate. And this is gonna be those milk, dark, extra dark, white chocolate differences, these are all flavor differences. Their passion fruit caramel is good, but with more emphasis and oomph on the passion fruit. They have a lot heavier tastes, if that even make sense. I guess what i"m trying to say is that the flavor you want, is the flavor you're definitely gonna taste. Quite pricey, at $1.50 pp, $2 with a box. Enjoy! Take some pictures~

Perfect gift for my Chicagoan sister since the owner here originally was the chocolatier at Charlie Trotters a very high-end restaurant there. I try to sample and OMG delicious. He wrapped a gift box, so it would be easy to take on the plane.

Blue's Chocolates is a small little chocolatier shop by the UC Berkeley campus that specializes in handcrafted dainty little chocolates that are perfect for a gift! They stock a variety of different flavors of chocolates which range from fruity to tea based flavors. The staff here do a great job in explaining all the flavors and size options which made the experience of purchasing a box seamless, enjoyable, and an overall pleasure. For a college student, it can come off as being quite pricey, but with little bits of sacrifices here and there, it's really not that bad. The various colors and shapes of the chocolate pieces placed evenly throughout their box is a delight to the eyes. The silky smooth chocolate that simply melts in the mouth is a delight to the tongue. Even though I personally would still prefer my 86% cacao dark chocolate, I've got to say that this chocolate is super good. Given the price and fanciness of it all, I would never buy a box for myself, but I would definitely recommend buying a box for a pleasant surprise of a gift!

Chocolaterie is a wonderful experience both in person and online. Their shop on University is adorable and I am glad I didn't give up my struggle for parking to visit. I picked out chocolates for my partner and a friend and everyone gave their chocolate high marks. For the holidays I shipped sweets from their online shop to my family, who immediately contacted me to proclaim they were 'delish!' and 'the most beautiful box of chocolates ever.' The shipping was also fast and reliable. Fantastic experience all around. Personally my favorite was the cardamom but it was really hard to choose because every one was gorgeous and unique.

This place has a mind-boggling variety of flavors (and colors) of chocolates. They taste great - simple, not complicated, and representative of the flavor they claim to be. The place is neat and is very pleasant to walk into when you take a happy stroll on University Avenue. I will probably be going back several times. I will also probably ask them to ship some of their aesthetically beautiful chocolates, which I think will make for perfect gifts! As a chocolate shop, I wish they could expand into having some chocolate drinks - for instance, how about just using some of those chocolates on display and blend them up with some milk to make drinking chocolate?!

Here at Chocolatier Blue, they have decently priced chocolate at $1.50 per piece without the a box. I love their chili chocolate which is actually decently spicy! I've tried other pieces such as their peanut butter crunch, espresso, caramel, and lemon. Most of the flavors that I've tried I've liked because I tend to stick to nutty flavors which is always a safe option. The workers are always polite and helpful-- just ask and they'll explain any of the flavors to you. They have some chocolates that they've made with alcohol which is on my list of things to try, but if you want some safe options, caramel, pistachio, and peanut crunch are quite delicious. If you want spicy, get the chili! The decor is simple-- they have a couple seat, a station for complimentary water, and they have some dried out cacao beans as decorations. Their glass case showcasing the chocolate shows a beautiful array of different colored shells of chocolate along with a name tag. Do come in if you want some unique and delicious chocolate!

Like many others...I've had some of the best chocolates in the world. Really...I have. However, these are by far the best I've EVER had. I do not write many Yelp reviews. This place is so impressive I absolutely had to share how wonderful this chocolate shop is. The caramel with cocoa nibs is heavenly. It's not like any caramel I've ever had before. It's light and almost fluffy, not dense and gooey. The cocoa nibs add just the right amount of crunch and bitter to offset the sweetness of the caramel. I don't know the name of the person who is responsible for these ridiculously amazing chocolates, but I'd like to say thank you. Let 's keep him in business in Berkeley!!!

The chocolates are exquisite, all varieties. The flavors are the most intense I've ever tasted, magically blended with the chocolate, so you just close your eyes and float.

My go-to place in downtown and South Berkeley if I need to get chocolates for someone! I've come here four times, either getting the box of 5 chocolates for $13 or the box of 8 at ~$20. These have been the perfect gifts as a thank-you to a professor for a letter of rec or when I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time! The chocolates are beautiful - they almost look fake, with the gorgeous finishes. They're super colorful and make for a very aesthetically pleasing gift! The espresso and caramel are my favorites, but all of their flavors are top-notch. The employees here are for the most part, pretty helpful. I do remember one specific time I came in when the employee behind the counter was kind of rude and disinterested, but once she realized I was actually going to buy something, her attitude completely changed. I usually ask the employees to curate a box of their most popular flavors. They have the informational card tucked in there, which is nice. Something I'd recommend for Blue's is to carry things like greeting cards in the future! I was scrambling for one and ended up going to TJs across the street, but would have definitely gotten a card from Blue's at the time.

Been here many, many times and never had a bad one yet. They have their 'regular flavors' and 'rotating flavors'. They look amazing and taste great. They also can make you fresh hot chocolate which is really good. No powdered chocolate here. They do not open till 11am and parking is a challenge . Enjoy!!

A small little chocolate store we just happened to stumble upon. I bought a box of chocolates here as a gift and she loved it. Of course I made her open the box right away so I could have some :) The pear was ridiculously good, and I really liked the pistachio as well.
