To be honest, we came to hmart for dinner the day before Chodang's grand opening. And we came back again just to try it, because we love soondubu!
And I'm so glad we did. This may be my new favorite spot in Austin for tofu stew. They have so many different iterations, even beyond the typical seafood, beef, etc etc. But as our first time here, we had to try the beef tofu stew at regular spice level.
The workers were so nice, and we got a free little mochi plate for the grand opening. And the price is a lot better than most other places. With tax, it came out to less than $17 whereas most other places are around $17 $18 pre tax.
And when our food came, I was not expecting the whole set! It had three sides: fish cake, beans, and spicy cucumber, an egg, a bowl of rice, and a pack of seaweed. It was all so delicious, there was a good amount of meat, and the sides were really refreshing.
The only thing I would have changed is probably getting the spicy level of spice instead of regular because it was barely spicy. If you can't handle spice, regular will definitely be tolerable for you! It has enough to give it color, but there really isn't much heat.
