Thursday I was working on the area, as it was lunch time I wanted to get a quick bite and iced coffee, as the 1st place I went was close I looked around and I spotted this place and I decided to drive. When I got there all I was focused on, was the food. I look up the menu on the wall and started to see what I was going to order. The most stupid part from my side,and I admit is my fault, is that at this point I didn't even noticed that I didn't have my wallet, and I kept looking at the menu, but because of reflection of the sun I didn't have a clear view of the menu, I told her I wanted to get a pastrami sandwich, 1 vanilla iced coffee and 1 mocha and I saw there was a turkey pesto but I couldn't see chicken pesto, and I wanted to try chicken pesto, then I asked the lady who was working if by any chance they had chicken pesto, and not so happy she told the number , then I looked and there it was, but it was on bagel, then I told her if she could do a croissant. anyway, the at this moment I knew I'm screwed up, I realized that I didn't have my wallet then I told her to cancel the order cause I didn't have my wallet,then I stepped out of the shop to check if I had any money in my car but unlucky me I didn't. Then I went back inside, as I believe this lady was busy in the kitchen I called her and with a bad mood she yield im coming, when she came to the front I politely asked her if they accept zelle, and then she said to me; look there, and I saw a sign that says cash only I felt way more stupid, but again I was just focusing on the food it was around noon, a very hot day all I wanted was food and coffee, then I apologize and left. After being in this bad experience I decided to put some cash in the car for emergency. If I lived in the valley I could have gone home . I always believe that things happen for a reason. The whole point to my bad experience is that I would not recommend this place to anyone if this person is going to take care of costumers with that attitude, no wonder why there was nobody in line nor eating there. Again I admit it was my fault for not bringing my wallet and not paying attention to the cash only sign, but there are manners to talk to costumers, is not that I had the food ready and at this point I just had realized that I don't have my wallet.

I have to say it was overpriced for the quality. I love trying new places but this was not a winner. I paid $18 for 1 bagel sandwich and 6 donuts. The donuts are over cooked and more like a crispy donut not fluffy and warm. Definitely not Western Bagel material either. The toppings on the bagel were subpar. Sorry, not likely to return.

The bagel sandwiches are so good. I think for the price you’re getting great quality and a nice portion. I’m pretty picky about my bacon, and they serve great bacon. I will say that sometimes they don’t carry their entire menu, which can be a little sad. However I think that that really speaks to have fresh their baked goods are. Really great staff too. They only take card, but there is an atm in the store.

Bagel is not cooked all the way. $5 for an uncooked bagel? Never again.

If you ever come across this mom & pop shop please stop by and pick up a #8 with Jalapeño bagel(Home made) fresh off the oven 🤤 and the coffee is good too!

They serve CHICKEN FROM A CAN ! The picture on the menu looks like it’s grilled chicken. If that’s the case it’s overpriced just to serve you CHICKEN FROM A CAN that smells and looks just like tuna. They didn’t want to give me a refund either, hated the smell and the texture

Get here early because their donuts,bagels and croissants are so good and sell fast!! So happy to have Choonys in my neighborhood. I came around 10am and they were pretty picked over so you KNOW that's a sign of the deliciousness. I grabbed a ham and cheese croissant which was top tier! One of the best croissants I've had. Also got a cinnamon roll crumble donut which was AMAZING!!! Service was quick and friendly, parking was decent. Being it is in a small strip mall plaza there's parking around. **PRO TIP** CASH ONLY (there's an ATM inside)

I lived in Sylmar for about 8 years and this was the go to spot for donuts and bagels. The place is family owned and all the staff are very friendly. Until now, they are always busy in the morning for coffee and donuts. Their donuts are fluffy and fresh. My go to has always been a dozen donut holes for the day, a cheese bagel with garlic cream cheese, and their "regular iced coffee" - they have a flavored iced coffee but you want the regular as it tastes like a Thai iced coffee. The bagels are a big hit as they are made in house and are fresh. I have not had many places where the bagel is nice and crispy on the outside but buttery soft in the inside (to the point where it melts in your mouth).

This is my go to donut shop Ive been coming here since high school for my jalapeño bagel with sausage egg and bacon and it never disappoints! I definitely will always keep coming here ! lol best bagels in town !

Best coffee, bagels and donuts in town. Would highly recommend the coffee. This coffee shop is always busy in the morning but it's worth the wait. It's cash only but an ATM is available inside the coffee shop. They do have some tables and chairs to enjoy your food.

The man who helped me today was really kind. Unfortunately around the time I came in they were out of large croissants for the roasted turkey croissant. However I went with the Bagel BLT which was great, and he threw in some free turkey as well as a free donut on the side. Kind service and great prices for their items.

There bagels are amazingly good. I've tried bagels in other places and the bread is hard and dense however here there bread is amazing. I always get the bacon egg bagel. I recommend this place.

This is my go to bagel spot when I'm feeling in good spirits and want to bring goodies for my coworkers. The jalapeño bagel is my favorite, with the jalapeño cream cheese ! The bagels are super soft and good size!

The couple of times that I've had the donuts here I've enjoyed. Today my mom and I had a piar of nice sized ring donuts(not to big or to small) and even at 1pm they were still fuffly and fresh. A Kind Suggestion: Please reconsider getting a debit machine in order to elevate your customer service. Also they are a bit pricie.

I've been here about 3 times already and have always had a great experience. I've only been here before noon and I only get their bagels and hot coffee. I tried their Thai tea boba and I wasn't a huge fan of it but their hot coffee is awesome and I hate hot coffee lol Workers are super friendly and attentive and always working to get the line moving.

Quick service and good coffee! Their pastries and breakfast bagels never disappoint. It can get pretty busy in the mornings but the women behind the counter are super efficient and very friendly. It's a hidden gem!

Stopped by for the first time and honestly had some amazing donuts, plus the gentleman that assisted me was super friendly and kind. Had to get some boxes for an April fools joke and they were super easy about it. Definitely recommend them for their customer service and quality. Thank you!

Recently moved into the area, though I check this place out. We are very particular with our donut shops as we take our donuts serious. Lol Came in for a donut, left with a breakfast sandwich, requested avacado, they gladly added no extra charge! The donuts where super fresh and they have a big assortment.

These donuts are my favorite. Perfect amount of sweetness. I only have two go to donut shops and this is one. I've also had their bagels which are also good and always fresh. The only con is that they don't accept card, cash only so sometimes I have to make a quick stop to the bank before stopping by.

The best place for a breakfast sandwich or bagel. I always get the chorizo egg and cheese bagel sandwich and my wife get her turkey sandwich and it's her favorite specially with the extra avocado they always include and jalapeños!!

Today I went to Choony, I had ordered what I wanted, but my order was made wrong so I told them it's was made wrong. For some reason the lady that wrote my order couldn't understand me seen the beginning. I had to explain to her 3 times. After that the owner wanted to know what was going on so I explained it. The owner started talking loud to me , blaming me for the mistake. I couldn't believe my eyes when she started talking loud to me. That's is very unprofessional.

This place Is All around delicious. BUT ITS 2019 who does CASH ONLY now a days? So irritating! No one really carries cash anymore I sure don't so when I stop here and order donuts walk up to the cashier and they say it's cash only that feeling of ARE YOU FUCKIN KIDDING ME I turn around and walk away with NO DONUTS!

The location is kinda shady. Hood-rats, cholos and bikers saturate the area. Its located right down the street from like 6 diver bars, in the heart of Sylmar. That's the thing though, it's Sylmar, what do you expect!? The donuts and pastries are A++, much better than the major chains like yum yum, way fresher too. Large selection of bagels and sandwiches as well. It would be nice if I could walk in there at 11am and they still had a large selection of donuts. Later in the day, pickings in the donut display case get slim. They really need to improve their service and stop rushing the order/paying process. I always feel pressured to pick my fancies on the fly, sometimes they rush me so much that either I or they forget to include part of my order. The donuts are moist, fresh and fluffy! Worth a visit!

Bagel: 4/5 Smoothie: 3/5 Getting chased by a crackhead on the way to my car: 0/5 so for that reason I will never be back

I love coming to this coffee shop because 1) it's local and 2) is very inexpensive which is really good because I know I won't have to be speeding so much money since $20 here gets you a long way. *P.S: their bagels are so so so good and must give it a try . Worth it to stop by

Choony's Donuts & Bagels is the best donut shop in the city of Sylmar! If you are looking for a quick breakfast on the way to work or school, this is the place to be. Choony's Donuts & Bagels is a small sit down shop that is very quiet. They have a few tables so you can sit down and enjoy the delicious food they prepare. If you go early morning their is not that many other clients so you are able to get your food quick. Many of the employees are welcoming and give you their full attention. They have a lot of different varieties of breakfast food you can pick from. They have breakfast bagels, donuts, croissants, muffins, and deli sandwiches for the afternoon. They also have coffee,iced coffee, lattes, etc. Choony's even offers boba. Their pricing is very reasonable and fair because of how big the food is. I would suggest if you are in the area, try the croissants because they taste AMAZING! They have the perfect sweetness that just tingles you taste buds. They are even better when they are freshly made and warm. These croissants melt in your mouth! I also suggest trying one of the croissants that are filled with either strawberry, blueberry, or creme cheese! They are very delicious and are addictive. The location for this donut shop is horrible because it is in a corner plaza that gets busy during the afternoon. There is hardly any parking and it is such a hassle to find a parking spot because the parking lot is very small. Another thing that I dislike about about this donut shop is they only accept cash. It is a pain because whenever I am in a rush to school and have no cash, I have to use the ATM that they have in the shop and it cost extra to take out money. Overall, I love Choony's! This is the best donut shop in the city.

OVER CHARGES! So unorganized, owner is a scatter brain and is lost. Was there on Sunday morning as a quick stop which turned into a 30 minute stop cause the owner was so confused with my order and the person behind me. She over charged me and then was trying to tell that one of things I had in my hand was the other persons so she was going to charge me again, for the 3rd time.

Stopped here after I dropped off my boy at school. I had breakfast bagel with egg, bacon and cheese. Definitely would recommend.

I would REALLY give this place NO stars! Just driving by i saw this donut shop & decided to stop by.. we ordered, and when it was time to pay i was going to use my Debit Card.. the lady at the counter said "No, cash only" my daughter apologized and told we would be right back with cash.. we drove to the bank right behind (it took us about 5 minutes) we came back with the cash and the Lady said "Oh, i have No Change" we let her know that we just went to the bank and she said in a rude attitude "Well i cant do NOTHING ABOUT IT!!!" Unbelievable!!! Horrible customer service!

Blueberry muffin is my go to. That muffin top is awesome. Buttery and just slightly well baked to give it a soft crisp on the edges. Keep up the good work. Don't pay attention to these haters. Let them eat churros and sugar bread.

Choony's serves the best coffee around the area and I love their bagles. The bagles are so soft unlike other traditional ones, which is why I like Choony's! They have a big selection of sandwiches and you can also customize them too. I like adding avocados to all of my sandwiches. I don't think I'll ever get tired of their bagles!

I used to come here. But never again. I bought my daughter a bottle of nestle milk with her donut. I splitef half the milk with my daughter, poured mine in a cup. The consistency was quiet thick. The taste was normal so didn't think much of it. My daughter almost finished the other half, grabbed the bottle to look at exp date.. we are now almost at the end of June, milk expired in May. Showed to the workers, all they said was, owner checks the expiration dates. They didn't know. They said if anything happens, come see owner tomorrow. I asked to call owner, they said can't goo e me his number. I said that's fine, disk his number here and I'll talk to him to let him know. They did can't do that. If I'm worried, to take my daughter to the hospital. Wow... you serious!!! I will never come here ever again!! And my daughter better not get sick!!!

We like to provide support to our local Mom & Pop shops. Baked goods are good here but service needs to improve. Finish with your 1st customer before moving on to help others that came after. Specially if you charged them already.

Quick review. Bagels- pretty darn good. Better than the chain bagel shops. Chewy on the inside. That's a good thing. Downside? Not much variety. Donuts- taste strange. Probably whatever they are using to fry them in. They look good, but do not be deceived. Other reviews say things like "best donuts." Um. Use Yelp. Find other places that have high ratings and MANY reviews by people who have written MANY reviews...not just places that have reviews posted by people who have ONLY posted reviews of that ONE PLACE. Hmmmmm....a little fishy. I promise you- these are NOT the best donuts. If you truly think this place has the best donuts, you HAVE to venture out of the town of Sylmar. Or, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :-/ TINY parking lot. Bad. CASH ONLY. Very bad. I hate going to places that require cash only. Service- ok. Average friendly. Not a whole lot else to say about this place.

BEST Donuts in Sylmar, this place has been around for over 15yrs. I've been going here from Jr high school, high school, collage, and now i have been dropping by almost every morning before work for a donut and a coffee. Donuts and pastries are always hot and fresh. My co workers also LOVE their donuts and pastries. And finally their bagel sandwich are also VERY delicious. my favorate is the Glazed Twist. yuuuuuuuuuummie!!! BTW the bald asian male is also very nice and quite handsome =P

If I could give no stars I would. I've been going to this place for years. I walked in today at 9:30 I get it's Saturday and it's super busy, I was patient I order an everything bagel with cream cheese. Waited for about 10 minutes. They had a customer come in and order about 5 minutes after I did the lady handed him the bagel I'd been waiting for. So I addressed the situation and she said "Well it was the last bagel so I don't care" of course I was upset I'd been waiting for about 15 minutes at this point. I asked her for my money back and she started yelling me I spoke to who I believe is the owner and told her the employee had been very rude to me and that it was unnecessary again this employee interrupts my conversation with the owner and starts yelling saying she didn't care that I thought she was rude etc. The owner was apologetic and really nice but after that experience I will not be returning until they educate their staff on how to treat their customers.

This is in response to a comment saying the owners do not split tips among employees. I dont know which employee lied to him but as a current staff member at this establishment I can confirm TIPS ARE SHARED/SPLIT EVENLY AMONG EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE at Choonys. The tips we recieved even extends back into the kitchen.

/Choony's D&B/ I like to think of myself as a business enthusiast, and so far my impression of this place is a well deserved ZERO. ZERO for this place, there services, and food. I have heard so many 'GREAT' things this place has to offer- so i thought why not check it out? Ive been to this place MULTIPLE of times on different occasions and timings thinking why not giving it a chance you know? We're all hard working people here just trying to get by; But my answer will always remain the same- 'This Place Is Crap'. My last encounter of this place was waiting in line for my meal to work; the parking lot in front of this store is hard to drive in or out due to a small space and area- so if you want to get a parking space available- you have to park in the BACK of the business with the other businesses just to go in. Great. There weren't many customers at all on that day or any other days; just about like 6 people on that day. The building was pretty ok- an ok size and space for people to sit down in tables and chairs overlooking others store and passerbys by this see through glass wall, decently clean, and somewhat of a space for people to go in or out of the store. The walls are decorated with incredible false advertisings and prices; a 'TRICK' to give you that the place gives off a sense of cozyness and relax atmosphere- WHICH IS NOT. The opposite to be exact. Ive have seen way too many customers in my life in this store dissatisfy with what they have order. I have even encounter some on that day! It was my turn in line, i order several donuts, croissants, drinks, cold/hot coffees, etc. Basically i tried everything off the menu on different occasions/days. The employee who had help the others and i with our purchase didnt even speak 'ENGLISH', not a single word. The only thing this employee knows what to do is 'UPGRADE' 2 dollars up from everything that is in the store! Every Single Thing you order, it'll be charge 2 dollars up. Thanks. Theres an area inside the store with different types of sugars and creams, a place for adding straws and coffee lids to your drinks; i took a bite into my donuts, croissants, etc- just as i thought- 'Old' and 'Cold'. I took a sip into my hot/cold etc coffees; 'Tasteless' and 'SinkWater Like'. Wow. I think i know why theres so many sugars and creams? Its for washing down the 'HORRIBLE' Foods, Drinks, Services, False Advertisings, Pricings, and The Trick Of A 'Supposably' Good Place. Thank You. If this place ever gets shut down, i wouldn't be too surprise.

My favorite donut shop around. They have the best bagels made from scratch and super soft. The owner is really cool guy all goods baked in house.

I've never had such a delicious tasting bagel nothing like it in the valley I take advantage when I'm I the area to stop and get one I'm eager to taste all the other food items they have but the cheddar cheese bagel sold me!! Amazing!!

Always my morning favorite place for coffee before I head to work. Vince(bald Asian guy) always knows how I like my coffee(creamy). They have a great selection of donuts, as well as bagels.

The last thing you want early in the morning is an angry host. I bought breakfast and sat down to have a quiet meal when the owners/host was arguing with other customers. The food was okay, but if you eat there, watch out for the yelling.

This place doesn't accept cash and there aren't any signs posted. Get up with the times, people. Just ok selection. Out of a few items. Staff is nice. He gave me a free donut because I had to use the ATM machine.

Not a big selection, got there at 9 and not much left. Plus when I ask for something they was out so when I asked what kind another worker blurts out here is menu. Menu is great if you have all the items. Plus only take cash.
