I have used Chopped and Served for business events in the past and was pleased with their service, so I hired them for my 72-year-old mother’s wedding. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing.
My mother and her husband were charged $3,000 for a poorly presented charcuterie board that looked like a few basic platters from Costco. It was nowhere near the quality we expected, especially given the price. The church also tried to contact Chopped and Served ahead of time to discuss setup, but their calls went unanswered. When I followed up, I was told that my mother should have informed them that the church would be reaching out, a response that felt dismissive.
Although the “General Manager” acknowledged that the display was inconsistent with their usual work and understood our disappointment, they refused to offer any refund. Despite having grounds to pursue legal action, my mother’s husband, a former restaurant owner, chose to take the high road and not file a claim. He believed they might be facing hard times and decided to move on, a decision that reflects his integrity, not theirs.
I’m genuinely disappointed to have to share this experience, but I feel it’s important to warn others so that no one else is taken advantage of in this way.
