I wasn't raised here so it's good to see a place that captures the essence of the old Chicago. Service was amazing, very nice warm, welcoming staff. The food was ready so fast and was fresh! The ingredients on the burger were fresh, lettuce was crispy, tomatoes juicy, pickles tasted homemade.

So much food! Fast and friendly service. Inexpensive any way you cut it. 32oz milkshake was amazing! Made fresh in front of you. Burgers were charbroiled to perfection! Fries are a meal in themselves!

I was looking for a new burger place to try and I saw all the good reviews so I had to go! The single cheeseburger with all the fixings was pretty good, my only complaint is that I should have gotten a double because the patty is thin, but it was very good! The steak fires are awesome cooked to perfection and so good with the burger. The banana shake was super good! I’d definitely get another! Also good cost point for the food you get, and it came out super quick! No restroom tho.

Let me start by saying, that George is da man!!! My parents have been bringing me all my life and the food has always been top notch. Not to mention how well priced and delicious the food is. Everyone there has always been super kind, friendly, and funny especially George (the owner). My last order he threw in some delicious fresh cookies for free 😋! In a world where kindness is rare, it made my day to experience such a kind gesture. We love you Choppers ❤️ !!!!

Quick convenient food that does what you need. Reasonably priced and quick service

First trying this place, came with my hubby. This place was recommended by a friend. The ambiance was calm and clean. Service was fast! Since it was the first time we've came the workers were nice and patient. The food I have to say was really good! My partner and I ordered 2 choppaks. I'm not a fan of red meat but I was willing to try. Super delicious I have to say it was a 10/10 . As for drinks, my partner got the fresh banana milkshake. I got a Pepsi, the Pepsi tasted like literal medicine like nightquil not very good. We got both in regular size. The total was 27$ for all. Decent amount of food. Overall it was ok.

The food here was great! Service was fast and the building and ambiance is very nostalgic of early 2000s establishments. Love all the gachapon and candy machines, saw some candies I haven't had in a decade! Made me wish I brought some quarters hahaha. Will definitely be returning again soon.

Good portions and good value for the money. They have large wedge style fries. We love getting the Choppak.

I usually get a classic burger but sometimes switch it up to the chicken sandwich and it does not disappoint. If you are in the area and you're looking for a chill quick fast food bite, this is it!

This place is amazing value. It's clean but there are a lot of small flies. The food and location has a very retro style. Seats are a little small. But they're pretty quick and no frills.

I asked the clerk which one he would recommend the burger or the beef. He recommended the burger. I ordered the burger and while I was waiting, I asked him for a sample of the beef after I tried the beef I got an Italian beef, and addition to my burger and had a little bit of each one the burger was really good. The price was amazing was seven dollars for, two burgers grilled onions, lettuce, tomato pickle mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup came with some steak fries and coleslaw. The beef was very good the flavor it was a little dry I did not have a dipped, but I did get gravy on the side and it was delicious with hot oil on the side. Good chocolate shake. They had a quad burger that had five patties instead of four , great service very clean . I lucked out, and I found parking small parking lot in a busy area downtown. They had outdoor seating too if you're in the area check it out.

Based on my last experience. I ordered 2x triple burgers and fries. I was charged $22.38. No itemized receipt was provided. I inquired to how we got to that cost. He states 2x burgers 2x fries. I advised it was one fry. He hands $3.85 . I took it that was correct but when I figured it out he still owed me a $1 . Little did I know they changed the meat. I bit into the burger and it tasted odd. No fresh burger meat chargrilled. This tasted like a high school cafeteria burger - no quality just cheap/soy /meat blend. I ate the burger and thought it was me. However I took the 2nd burger home and attempted to eat it. It tasted horrible. I got no fresh quality chart burger taste instead that cheap meat taste. I threw it out . What a waste. Completely regret ordering. This place went from 5 stars to 0 if I could give it. Not sure if under different management and attempted to go cheaper quality or what.

So why not lets go there. Its lunchtime and we at work like to try places not so far. My co-worker wanted that Quad burger and for me thats a big no thank you! Way too much greasiness to consume an there is no way I would even attempt it. I did go for the hamburger and they made a mistake when I got to my office as it was a double cheeseburger. But who's mad? Did I say I was mad? It was an honest and very cool mistake. The burgers are seriously very well seasoned and I for one love when a burger is made this way. Perfection? Maybe not as it was a little greasy, but it was good! The fries that I ordered were very well seasoned also, but a little too greasy. I guess since it is a hamburger joint, I shouldn't be surprised on the greasiness so let me stop that caterwauling on it. All in all I do like the fast food spot for many reasons, but most of all because of its authentic Chicago taste. That's what I come for. I also had to try their old school gravy bread, and of course it didn't disappoint. All in all its a good place but a little bit pricey, but compared to other burger spots, they are competitive and have been around for many years.

Visiting a friend in the area, they requested a stop here to get some food and milkshakes, and I waited in the car for 15 minutes. Cramped parking, mediocre fast food, slow service. Why? do people come here, I would like to know.

Finally! I have found a quality burger for a reasonable price in Chicago. As other have said, Choppers isn't the place to go to if you're looking for the best burger that you can find in Chicago. However, it is a great option if you're looking for a good burger without paying the "best burger in Chicago" prices that every other restaurant seems to follow. The good food coupled with the appropriate pricing is what awards Choppers a five stars for me. In addition, you can get ridiculously sized portions for less than $10 - up to a quad burger - and it's actually tasty. You're not left sitting with the thought "dang, I guess I got what I paid for." Rather, you're left sitting with the thought "this was a good value, what's the catch?" Add on some cheesy fries and a milkshake and you have a full meal at about half the price that you're used to paying in the area. Furthermore on the milkshakes, they label their milkshakes as "the best in Chicago" and I truly believe that they deserve this title. There are many flavors to choose from, and none will disappoint. I'm addicted.

I would recommend this place over and over again. I'm never disappointed here. Burgers are great as well as the milk shakes.

Food was delicious. Needed to grab dinner after my wine tasting in Old Town. Location was perfect as it was right off of North and Ashland. Pretty easy to get to location parking somewhat difficult. I was able to get in an order right away, my food was ready within one minute. I think they just have the burgers going and the fries getting fried quickly. I got the double cheeseburger special and it was very delicious. I had it when I got home with a glass of wine. Perfect to have a delicious double cheeseburger with the best Cabernet (Caymus $85 a bottle) on the market. I was really a happy and full with my selection. I finished the Burger, however I didn't finish the cole slaw or the French fries. However I save the French fries to have the next morning. I'm sure they'll do well being reheated in the air fryer. This meal probably could be shared with my husband if we just wanted a quick snack before going to sleep. Would definitely go back and try this place they looked like they had some dope ass mozzarella sticks.

I am giving this three stars because the quality is not great. However, this place HITS for late night eats and is perfect after a long day. The hours are not good as they close at 9pm... not ideal after a night out in chicago. I wish they would change that for weekends. The quad burger is great and you can customize with grilled onions or double fries instead of coleslaw. Great service. Overall my happy place when I've had a tough day. Not too spacious inside but that's fine for me.

Choppers is a neighborhood staple. The burgers are always solid and char grilled, great steak fries. My ultimate favorite thing here is the coleslaw, loooove dat coleslaw. Also, for 8 bucks, their choppak deal can't be beat! It's a double cheeseburger, fries, and coleslaw. They have a small parking lot with a few spots, can also park on ashland. Oh, almost forgot! Don't sleep on the shakes here either, they're bomb!

Dropped in for our usual love sitting outside. The sesame buns are gone. This burger was worse than the local Chain ! What is going on. Owner says younger generation says "allegyzzz" the pack though was tasty. But the single just dropped in quality. And no more sesame buns. The new buns are just yukkk French fries are still ok. Sad that this last visit is making me not want to return. Hhhmm ?!

It did not disappoint! One of the best burger in Chicago! Cashier that took our order was friendly but the old guy was a bit disappointed that I asked for a bag for my takeaway. Other than that, everything was good.

Food is delicious, made fresh and service was even better! My family happened upon Choppers in our search for fast food on our drive back home to Indiana. We didn't want the normal "chain" restaurants. Most of the exits were closed at the time, but somehow I found Choppers on my gps and hallelujah the exit was open. I walked in and explained the situation to the man who took my order and he was so nice! Since we had never been there before and we were going to eat in the car, he guided me to best choices for the kids. He was patient, helpful and generous-- as he gave me a free shake after ordering the wrong Flavor for my daughter! it is a classic small town service! would definitely recommend going out of your way to stop there if you are in Chicago!

We've been going to Choppers for years their Grilled Chicken Sandwich is my favorite but their meatball sandwich is great as well. I drove from the suburbs here just to eat, burgers are good.Hubby loves the coleslaw & the shakes are delicious.

Man they tricked me with English style fish and chips lol disgusting it was 3 cheap thin fish fillet Patty's , hot coleslaw and hot tarter sauce definitely won't buy again , I'll try their burger if I go back

I have been looking for a good burger in Wicker Park that doesn't cost 20+ dollars. Even some of the 15 dollars ones are just garbage. I have probably tried about 20 different places already in the area. I took a different route into work today because of traffic and i saw this place. Looked interesting and unique. Had I ran across my diamond in the rough? I looked up reviews and read about this "choppak" thing. and I'm thinking 8-9 bucks for a double burger fries and slaw? Could it be a tasty burger too? Went here for lunch at 12:30 today, easy parking in small lot, the worker there going back in the door held it open for me, nice touch. Guy at the counter was polite, place was clean all around, I ordered the "choppak" with everything and regular strawberry milkshake. Get this! I was only 13 bucks after tax! Woot Woot! Got it to go and on the way out the door I decided I would eat in my car (just couldn't wait to get back to the office). Opened it up and the burger looked amazing. Two good sized patties, yummy grilled onions, tomatoes and everything else that make a good burger, the buns are even a notch up from cheap hamburger buns. Fries were hot and good, nothing super special, but not bad in any way. Same story for the cole slaw. ok, just standard cole slaw. Strawberry shake was also TOP NOTCH, too thick for the straw until it melted a bit and I do like that in the bottom of my cup were 3-4 big chunks of real strawberries. Great Job Choppers!!! Also, I don't recommend eating these in your car, buy the time I was done the front of my shirt was a mess, lol.. I have found my local go to burger joint. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

The CLEANEST fast food burgers you can get. Gooey cheese, fresh veggies, and brioche buns! You are getting a way better burger for the price. And do yourself a favor-get a milkshake and combine some flavors. You won't regret it. Thanks Choppers! PS-thanks for making the PB+J for us.

The quad burger was okay. I can taste that chard flavor, but it lacked flavor for me it reminded me of a Grammer school cheeseburger. The fries definitely didn't do it for me. I tasted no seasoning in the fries, not even salt. Starry soda is not Sprite. They informed me it was Sprite, but I know instantly that it was starry the moment I drank it. The fries and burger was not for me

It pains me to leave this review as this was a usual go to. Haven't got a choppak in probably a year. But wtf choppers?? The quality dropped so much. The slaw is so nasty now with way too much oregano. What happened? Soggy lettuce. Both orders we had tonight for take out were wrong and taste horrible. Sadly won't be ordering anymore after having this be THE burger spot in the neighborhood for the last decade.

I really wanted to check out choppers one day. I always walked by this super casual burger and fries shop. It reminds me of a trendy fast food joint from the early 90s. The food was what I expected, processed goodness. Ha. I really enjoyed the fried mushrooms. The restaurant forgot to put cheese on my burger so I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I wanted, but I'm sure it would have tasted better with it. I tried to slab all that cheese from my cheese fries on there to compensate. The fries could have been a little less drenched in cheese but they were good. I'd come back to get the fried mushrooms and try another item.

Yes this restaurant has been around for many years and there food is still Good and Tasty. You do get your money's worth for the size and quantity. Here is a sandwich I know many have tried but I will always recommend. The Italian Beef Combo Soggy Dipped for me but OMG! Can't go wrong, seasoned beef and the juice Oh My. A Forever Winner for me. Go get you one.

I go to the beauty shop right near this restaurant and I always get a choppak meal. I'm not sure what their secret is, but the burgers, the fries and the coleslaw is delicious. There's nothing like it! If you're ever in the area you need to stop by and get choppack meal. And, say hello to the owner. His name is George!

The food was delicious but the employee wouldn't use his face mask properly. Pros: Food was delicious. Burger had a good overall consistency that comes with fresh food. Shakes were unexpectedly good, even long after we left them sitting out. Cons: Employee was being inconsiderate of our safety by not properly wearing their face mask. In this time of delivery or get-it-and-go, brief interactions become quite important. The gentlemen preparing my order had their face mask over their chin. While I appreciate being asked if I needed anything else, I prefer for others to demonstrate consideration by properly wearing a facial covering. He kept expecting me to walk up to him for my order, I signaled to the gentlemen that they should have a covering over their mouth and nose. But they just walked away. I loved the food but I can't go back until everyone practices proper safety.

This place is fire - absolutely ridiculous. Ordered from this place 3-4 times in a row and let me tell you, if I lived here, I would be ordering much more often than that. Portions are unexpectedly large, and prices are ridiculously cheap. For example, tell me one place that sells a burger with FIVE patties for approximately $8. Where? Where can you find that price in 2020? Hell, where could you find that price in 2015? Whatever they're doing, I hope they keep it up, because this place is balling. Friendly tip, their sausage sandwiches are legit. Highly recommend the doubles sausage. Also, their delivery time is unbelievably fast.

I have to give Chopper's a little shout out. This is not white tablecloth dining obviously; this is the classic Chicago fast casual spot, with burgers, dawgs, beefs & shakes. But they certainly do the best they can with what they're serving; the fries are always hot, the bread is never stale, and the veggies are always fresh. I was particularly impressed when I went nuclear and ordered a loaded Chicago hot dog for delivery... and asked for the sauces on the side. I didn't want a soggy dog, but I also didn't want to put on pants & leave the house to pick up a hot dog. Needless to say, Chopper's had my back. They packaged EVERYTHING - the pickle, the onions, the sport peppers, the relish, even for the love of God - the celery salt, in separate containers! My roommate said I'd cost them more than what the order was worth in portion cups... and I did feel a little guilty for their labor. They went so far above and beyond and I got a delish delivery hot dog, which is like waking up with a baby unicorn in your bed! Thanks Chopper's, appreciate your hard work and will be a loyal customer!

Had the chopak and a beef. Honestly it wasn't anything special to rave about. It's more a 2.5 but I have it a 3. Just nothing to brag about.

These burgers, fries and milkshakes are great. My husband and I stopped here for a quick bite. I have been eating these since my days working at GrubHub, when they use to order them. The burgers are juicy and flavorful, the milkshakes are rich and delicious. We will definitely be back.

Me and Choppers, my good ol' friend, go WAAAAY BACK. How far back you ask? I attended Johnathan Burr Elementary since pre K that is right across the street from..... you guessed it CHOPPERS! I graduated from Burr in 2007 and I still come back to this day. I grew up on the free smells piping out of this joint. THAT SWEET SWEET GREASE IN THE AIR during reese time was no joke - it'd make a vegan's stomach grumble haha. The food to me is the best. It's what I grew up on and has become the standard by which I judge fast food by. I'll be completely honest - the quality of the food at Choppers is not the best, the patties are frozen (not sure if they still are) for example BUT the difference is that they turn that shitty product into gold. That's the magic of Choppers, well that and the price is not that bad for the amount you are getting. Now, I'm not going to bore you and tell you how great it is because I'm clearly bias haha. Instead I will cap off my review with my favorite food hacks me and my buddies have developed over the years at our favorite hang out spot. Rule of thumb: Always eat your food at Choppers. If you go the to go route or delivery the food is going to be shitty. Cold Choppers fucking blows so don't do that to yourself. The food needs to be as hot as possible for it to taste as great as possible. Pro tip: Don't be a fucking jabroni - Get the CHOPAX! With a Chopax you get cole slaw and steak fries on the side. First fries, you can either dip them in the cole slaw or get sloppy and add cheese, chili, and sweet peppers. Now with the cole slaw, what I do is instead of dipping them in the fries I jam them into my burger - THAT SHIT IS FIRE!!!!!!!! Pro tip: Strawberry milkshake or GREEN RIVER "don't play yoself" Pro tip: The meatball sandwich (add sweet peppers and cheese). I have never, ever considered eating seafood here and you should do the same. I'm just saying lmfao

I'm so upset that I've been in Chicago for almost a year and I just became aware of this place (thanks to Yelp) this past week. Let me just say, this is the best greasy, cheesy goodness you can get for a fair price in Chicago. I ate the whole meal and it kept me full the rest of the day...I didn't eat again until the next day! The "Choppak" as they call it is a double cheeseburger, steak fries and some delicious cole slaw. This is my go-to for my once a week cheat meal. I will be back, next week!

The chop packs used to be our favorite thing to get. The coleslaw was so good! Why did you change the recipe? It's awful! Who puts oregano in coleslaw? So gross. The burger was ok but you could've kept the wilted lettuce and most of the salt that you put on the fries. I have no issues with service, everyone was great as always. Choppers has been our goto for a good burger in ther neighborhood for many years. Change is the one thing in life that is constant but when it comes to food, if it works don't touch it.

One of the guys that worked there had a horrible attitude and was really rude , looks like I won't be coming back.
